My wife and I decided to stop in about 11:30am on a Saturday. As you walk in there are several small tables on the outside under the covered area. The inside has about 10 tables and orders are placed at the counter. We looked at the menu and everything sounded delicious!  My wife chose the chicken Caesar sandwich and she had to try the pasta salad which everyone raves about! I decided on the meatball sandwich. As we paid for our order several more people arrived and it quickly got busy. The pasta salad arrived first and my wife LOVED it. It was simple but tasted delicious! When our sandwiches arrived they also looked very tasty. We both really enjoyed our food and commented we will be back again very soon! We remembered this location used to be something else but the logo on the door says established in 1990. My wife asked and they told us that they used to have a deli across the street years ago and sold it. The deli continued to operate with several different owners. She then told us that her nephew Jason decided to reopen about 5 weeks ago. Support this small business and check them out! read more

So Paolos Deli is owned by the former owner of La Familia Italian Restaurant in Down Town Reno. He has since sold La Familia .. think it's owned by another family member. Apparently Paolo opened an Italian Deli in Reno many, many years ago ... across the street from their current location. He went on to open Portofino and later La Familia and then he retired. But decided he would start all over again and opened Paolos Deli in it's current location. As told to us by his nephew (or was it his brother in law). It's a walk in and order kind of place. Food to go or to eat there. They will bring you order to you. I had Capresse Sandwich, which was excellent. And it was big enough that I took half home and had it two days later .. still excellent. My sister had Canneloni, and my friend had an Eggplant Sandwich .. which she also took home half. The olive oil they used was really, really good. Put a little extra on the 1/2 sandwiches we took home. I order Eggplant Parm to go & my friend order Lasagne to go. Both were very good. Personally I would have preferred a little more sauce, so next time I order to go I'll ask for extra .. my personal choice. They also have some cheeses and limited cold cuts for sale, along with a limited amount of dry goods. The have limited wine & beer selections. Soft drinks and some Italian soda. The Italian Lemonade was really good. All reasonably priced and I'm looking forward to going again. read more

If this place doesn't scream friendly neighborhood deli, nothing will. Walking in you are greeted by the friendly staff (Roxy) that are eager to help. Sandwich menu has quite a few options but not overwhelming. The ham, turkey and provolone sandwich is one of my favorites. The meats and cheeses are great but the bread is also a hit with all of their sandwiches. In addition to sandwiches, they have many pastas dishes to go. The spaghetti and meatballs have become one of my favorites. While you're waiting, they have a nice selection of Italian products for sale- olives oils, pastas other other treasures to be had. Stopped in for lunch today. Got the chicken Parm sandwich. It was incredible. The take a way orders of lasagna and spaghetti. All looked huge. I brought home the lasagna and it is a five star. There is enough to feed two people easy. I have been in once before and food was great. This is my second trip in and just a good as the last. The marina reminds me of the Sunday dinners my mother and grandmother made. Will definitely be making this a regular thing. So glad they are in my area. read more

I go there pretty often during lunchtime and grab lunch for the office. They always have great service, great food, and clean establishment. Definitely recommend the eggplant & pepper sandwich if you don't mind eating healthy but any of their menu items are amazing. Love the authenticity of their food and the style of the restaurant. I have been missing our trips to Italy and the local shops and delis on every street offering quick high quality meals. What has Reno truly been missing? A great Italian deli with quick high quality meals. Don't breathe on anyone for a few days after eating at this amazing authentic Italian deli. We recently had the Misto Salad, Meatballs, Lasagna, Eggplant Parmigiana. My wife and I both ordered the Misto Salad. The Misto salad had, like the name denotes, a mix of tantalizing roasted vegetables, fresh light angel hair pasta salad, simply satisfying white bean salad, and a small green salad full of little surprises like olives, red onions and a light house Italian dressing. A few days before tonight's visit I ordered the eggplant parmigiana piled high with flavorful homemade marinara and high quality mozzarella and parmigiana. The eggplant is roasted to perfection not fried like so many others. Back to tonight, my daughter ordered a huge slice, of "like momma made" lasagna. The highest quality tomato sauce, mozzarella, béchamel rather than ricotta, just the right amount of meat. She ate everything on her plate and gave it a thumbs up to take one home from the case for our son. I had a bite and. I make a great lasagna and this was worth the trip. Both of my visits I ordered meatballs on the side and can't wait to come back and eat more. Light, let the meatballs do all the speaking for themselves, smothered in homemade sauce and a sprinkle of parmigiana. They are tender, juicy, not overly seasoned or overly filled with breadcrumbs. The prefect balance of love and experience go into all of the dishes. I am coming back soon to try the Porchetta sandwich ASAP! Thank you for opening a quick high quality Italian deli here in Reno. If you want to bring the family for an early dinner get there before 6. It is worth rushing over with the family, or just drive by on your way home and take it with you. It is quick and ready to go as soon as you get up to the deli case. The owner brought out a small Caprese salad with our Misto salad I forgot to mention. Lightly drizzled with olive oil, fresh basil. He also brought out a thick balsamic vinegar strait from Modena, with salt and pepper. I feel extremely welcome every time I visit. This hot and new Reno spot is a great little Italian spot. The Chef came out and helped us with our selections. The server and his daughter were attentive. Ordered the lasagna with meat sauce and meatballs and the spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs. Both were delicious. They feature freshmade pasta and sauces. The meatballs were absolutely amazing. The service was delightful and the cheesecake was the most incredible thing I have ever eaten

One of my friends posted about Paolo's on Facebook. We decided to try them out and I went to get sandwiches for lunch. We got the Italian Stallion. This sandwich is ridiculously good! Every ingredient is delicious on its own and together they're nothing short of fantastic. Every meat has a separate and distinct flavor. Roasted red peppers add sweetness and pepperoncinis add a kick. Many times provolone is flavorless, but here, the cheese has wonderful flavor. Big slices of tomato and leaf lettuce add crunch. The whole sandwich is better than any I've had in Reno. Aside from the food, the people are all friendly and the place has a bit of Old World ambiance. If you really want to help local businesses and eat a very tasty sandwich, skip Subway and go to Paolo's! read more

In short, yum! Paolo's Deli is an Italian-style deli that offers sandwiches - both hot and cold - in addition to traditional Italian plates. You can order ahead for takeout if you would like for Paolo's to take care of family dinner. While we opted to dine in, it seemed like many people were picking up orders to go. My fiancé and I each tried different sandwiches during our most recent visit. He had the sausage and pepper sandwich and I had the spicy soppressata, ham, and provolone sandwich. Both sandwiches were pretty big! I ate half and saved the second half for another meal. My fiancé, on the other hand, couldn't control himself so he finished the sandwich in one sitting. Both were delicious and you could tell that they used high-quality, fresh ingredients. What I loved about Paolo's Deli is that it truly felt like a family deli. Friendly faces were working behind the counter and it was easy to strike up conversation. I look forward to coming back again and trying more of their menu. On our way out we tried the tiramisu and the chocolate caramel cheesecake. Right when you walk into the door you are greeted with a smile from Jason and his family with a real Italian ambience feel. Little Italian music playing in the background. Meatball sub, tiramisu, eggplant parmesan. I kind of waffled between 4 and 5 stars. It's definitely 4.5 in my book. The tiramisu was tasty: it was light and had a nice coffee flavor: probably my favorite of the three. It was so deliciously light! The meatball sub was also tasty, albeit not blow me away good. Would I prefer it to the type of sandwich shop I get at a sandwich shop? Absolutely! It absolutely blows Subway out of the water. I'd personally prefer a bit more flavor: maybe an arrabiata, or some more herbs, or maybe have my meatballs a bit more browned or something. I wanted the seasoning to be more aggressive, in one way or another. The eggplant parmesan was just okay. I honestly found it a bit off. I make eggplant parmesan, and while this was an okay rendition, I feel like I could make better. (That being said, it would take me 2 hours and I'd have to make 8 servings.) But again I wanted more seasoning, and while it was certainly good I think it would've been better if the eggplant were just a little bit more cooked (though it was still perfectly fine) This is very much a neighborhood deli in what maybe isn't quite a neighborhood, and that makes this a bit weird. If I were in a small town and this was in my local neighborhood, I'd be quite happy. Considering it's not that far from midtown and downtown, where there are a lot of other food options all over the map, the vibe feels a bit weird. It's a deli that almost counts as a restaurant based on its offerings. If you think of it like a neighborhood deli, it's fantastic, albeit a bit more expensive and maybe mislocated. If you think of it as a restaurant and compare it to the best Italian restaurants in Reno, it doesn't quite measure up, albeit it's definitely cheaper. It's good, basic food, but it's not really a culinary experience. read more

Not a huge variety of food, but what they have is so delicious. The lasagna melts in your mouth; it looks like a big portion, but I've cleaned my plate every time! The eggplant is also very yummy. The caprese salad is tasty, but a little over-priced for the amount you get. The food takes a little while to arrive, but I think it's made- to- order. Delicious hidden gem! We decided to try this deli on a whim, and the food was not a disappointment. The chicken parm sandwich was flavorful and a great size portion with one full size chicken fillet per half of sandwich. Another item we got was the Italian stallion which was savory while being light due to the fresh produce and freshly sliced deli meats used in the sandwich. I highly recommend both items off the menu! The restaurant does have a small outdoor seating area that is dog friendly- the owner was very kind and brought out our dog a bowl of water while we waited for our food. read more

We often order from her for lunch for the office. I have tried something new everytime. Granted there were a few thing that could have had small improvements like the Caprese could use some balsamic reduction/glaze. The Lasagna is good, noodles are a little over cooked which is easy to do. Parma Prosciutto & fresh mozzarella is pretty tasty.
