This is such a cute little deli. I had the Misto Salad and it was wonderful. I came at around 4:30pm and there weren't many people inside. I had a quiet early dinner and enjoyed the calm atmosphere while enjoying my delicious pasta. I'm not going to give five stars solely for the fact that no one seated me and it was awkward when I first came in because I had never been here before. The waitress brought me my food but I had to ask if the seating was open or.... I really enjoyed this place and would totally recommend it to Italian lovers like myself. read more

I read a review from a friend and saw they had Muffeltta sandwiches and always wanted to try one. I made a point to stop by this cute little deli in lakeside crossing, used to be a yogurt shop I believe. I entered and it was a cute set up with tables and chairs (basic deli) one couple inside. I ordered the Muffeletta sandwich (normally from Louisiana and served round) I'm an olive lover, it was 10 bucks for a good sized regular type sandwich on a roll. It was very tasty, it had Mortadelo,, provolone, and a different type of salami with a olive tapenade. It was very homemade you could tell just by eating it! I also ordered they Caprese Salad that was only store bought tomatoes and not the real ricotta! I'm sorry to give them only 3 stars but the prices are too high for what you get, the sandwich I paid 10 bucks but you'll see the pics I post for an 8 buck caprese salad! I wish them well but honestly it's not the proper atmosphere for that place! My issue were the items such as tomatoes were not heirloom so why are you charging me 8 bucks for the Capresse salad I posted? read more

Craving a good ol' fashion toasted Italian sandwich, with fresh meat, olive oil and the usual fixin's, I decided to try the Italian Stallion at Paolo's during lunch time. The pictures looked so good on line. I ordered my sandwich at the counter, paid, started to turn to find a seat, and what do I Hear??? A dog barking inside the restaurant. I looked and didn't see one, and I turned to the server at the counter, and asked, "Is that a DOG I HEAR??? Where is it??" "Ohh that's the owners dog hanging out in the kitchen.." Mind you I am not an animal hater by no means, but immediately I had a flash of fleas and dog hair in my Italian sandwich, and I know for a FACT! that the Reno Board of Health doesn't allow animals of any kind in a public food kitchen... Needless to say when my sandwich finally came out, after sitting there listening to the dog bark in the kitchen, I couldn't get through it.. it tasted decent, but at this point, I have no idea of the cleanliness of the kitchen. The owner got wind of my concern, and came out from the kitchen and walked over to me specifically, and there was others in the restaurant. He asked how the sandwich was.. I said truth be told, after hearing a dog barking in the kitchen , I honestly am not enjoying it, and asked if the Reno Board of Health allows live animals in restaurant kitchens. He ignored the question and went on to say, the dog is a "calming dog", and helps the staff chill out. I actually laughed, and asked if a barking dog truly calms him, because its making me a nervous wreck trying to relax and enjoy my sandwich. LOL I'm truly disappointed, I love hot toasted Italian sandwiches.. and I was so hoping this would be my go to place', as I live nearby. I had most of it wrapped to go, and dumped it in a nearby trash can outside. Unfortunately, I cant give this place a good rating. I saw this place after finishing up with a doctor's appointment in the area and decided to try it out. I entered during lunch hour and ordered their Italian sausage and peppers sandwich to eat first and the muffulleta (hope I spelled that right) sandwich lunch at work. I ate the sausage and peppers sandwich upon getting home and it was tasty but not really anything to write home about. It simply did it's job. It was later when I had the muffulleta that I was impressed. I've had good sandwiches but this is up there with some of the best I've had. I realize why this is their most popular dish. I'll definitely go back here for the muffulleta. I would give this place five stars but I wasn't that impressed with their sausage and peppers sandwich. read more

Easy parking, very nice owners, we enjoyed the food we ordered the sad part was the number of customers that came in unmasked. Owner of course didn't say anything because she wants her business to succeed, but apparently these customers don't. Even if you don't believe in masks it's the way business needs to stay open. My recommendation is to try both the Chicken Caesar Sandwich and/or the Hot Italian Meatball Sandwich, although I have no doubt anything else on the menu is just as great. Hands down, the best Italian deli in Reno. Their takeout mains, lasagna, spaghetti, meatballs, eggplant parmigiana, are spectacular blend of what you want in in Italian food. Perfectly seasoned sauce enhanced by fresh Parmesan. Their sandwiches are enormous served on soft fresh sub rolls. The Italian Stallion is a standout. They should rename it the Tarantella because the perfect blend of meats and cheese combined with lettuce and tomato and oil and vinegar creates a dance of your taste buds.
