SOLID generic Chinese buffet. You're not here for luxury, but it's definitely top tier in comparison to a lot of the other buffets out there. And you can't beat the $18/per person for lunch (according to my coworker). Plenty of parking in the plaza since it's quite a large one, but it can get busy during the lunch and dinner rush, and because it shares the plaza with a Smart and Final, Denny's and other eateries and businesses. It was pretty busy during a Thursday, even earlier than the regular lunch rush and it got busier the more time that elapsed but we were able to get 2 tables next to each other for a party of around 9 people. You check out at the start and you get handed any cups for beverages and then you can go to town at the buffet. They play pop song hits on throughout, the staff get together to sing "Happy Birthday" to whoever's birthday it is, they keep everything stocked pretty well and very clean in comparison to many other places I'm wary about, and the ambiance is lively and bustling. Standard buffet fare with fried foods, salad, desserts, some sushi (really good fish to rice ratio so you don't get full, which I like), grilled foods, desserts, soft serve machine and much more. They have a Mongolian BBQ station where you can build your own bowl, they give you a buzzer, and you come back to pick up your grilled dish. You can put as many or as little as you want in the bowl, thus maximizing your buffet intake. Pretty interesting sauces. I have never seen Sherry Wine before being offered, which is neat. The meat ended up being too dry for my tastes and overall a bit too salty but that might have been my mistake for choosing the sauces and seasoning for my bowl. Other than that, I really liked the banana pudding, the whipped cheesecake that went great with my serving of vanilla soft serve, the baby corn, orange chicken, sushi, baked fish, and the other simple and easy to eat dishes like mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, etc. Not bad!
Reminds me of a slightly better and larger Hometown Buffet before they closed. The place is large, with a lot of seating and strong AC! The food is decent enough, never really good but good for $25/per adult with a drink. Theres a lot of options as well. Didn't get to try the Mongolian bbq as I was too full by then. But I will return to try it. The only issue was the guy running the register was rude and wouldnt speak at a volume anyone could hear him.
Great variety of food! The shrimp is my absolute favorite--I haven't found any other place that makes it this delicious. The Chinese food is also one of my top choices here. The restaurant is always clean, and they restock the food trays regularly. The staff is extremely friendly and always attentive to the guests. It's a very comfortable place to eat.
one of my favorite buffets ever! i go her once a week and it's always a go to. unlike most buffets, paradise has food that focuses on quality. there's always the same food every time but the quality is way better than any of the other chinese buffets i also like how paradise allows you to put your own sauces. other buffets make the stir fry way too salty so it's nice having to put your own sauce the fish is also great, there's only a few types of fish out but they're all not fishy and pretty good quality it's always clean here and i'm always seeing workers cleaning or refilling the food. service is also always friendly
Went here for lunch on a Saturday with my wife and kid. The line was long but moving it took 25 min to get seated. They had good selections and the quality is not bad some good. Great dessert selections too! The only bad Thing would be the sushi the staff doesn't know how to cut raw fish and the rice isn't cooked well. Overall would come back here for the good quality and the price is very affordable unlike most places being $35-$40. Also the place is pretty clean and good staff service they're very helpful and friendly.
Average buffet spot. Nothing too special. They have a big salad bar and probably the best part is the Mongolian bbq counter; grab a bowl, put in what you want and let them cook it for you. Came during lunch and there were plenty of seatings. You pick your spot. Overall, average spot.
Opening in 1998, Paradise Chinese Buffet in Montebello is the original of the four Paradise brands in the LA area. This location was recently named one of three LA area buffets in the top 150 in the country, based on Google reviews. I've been to a lot of buffets (Chinese and otherwise), and this was near the top, especially based on the price. We came about 30 minutes after its 11 am opening, and the place was already packed with a line waiting to get in. You pay first, getting water and soda cups at checkout (plates are plentiful near the buffet itself). Emmelyn was the check-in associate, and she was joyful and friendly, putting a smile on my wife's face after a stressful drive through LA traffic. We found out that my wife's lunch was free because it was her birthday. Lunch pricing is $15.19 (M-F), minus $1 for seniors and military. Refillable soda is $2.99. It's find your own seating, and we grabbed the first seats we could find. -- being super crowded meant the food was constantly being replenished and kept fresh. It also meant a lot of line (inadvertent) line cutting and careful, slow movements...need to be careful for sure. -- the taste of the food was good, mainly because most things were turning over quickly. However, the selection of dishes wasn't huge, and the soups didn't look too good. -- I focused on the sushi and was satisfied. They had different type simple rolls and nigiri, with soy sauce at each table. They also had a bottle of eel sauce to douse your rolls with more, if you want. Towards the end, discovered a New Zealand green mussel dish in a hot chili sauce, which I took full advantage of. -- the must get is the Mongolian Grill, which dominates the center of the restaurant. There were three types of sliced frozen meat (beef, chicken, pork), a variety of vegetables (including my favorite, baby corn), and various runny sauces that you pour on top when done. Once your bowl is complete, you need to give it to the operator. But here its a bit different: it operates on a unique system that I've only seen here. In the front counter, there are 20 spots where numbered pager sits. Once a person fills up a bowl with raw ingredients, they place it on the next available pager spot, taking the pager with them. Once the food is cooked, the pager goes off. You then exchange the bowl in your spot, with the pager...and the cycle continues. I asked myself what would happen if all 20 pagers were taken, and decided if that happened, you would have to wait since there would be no more space on the grill for your plate anyway. The system worked really well, with all three of us taking advantage of it. Taste wise, I've had better but certainly not for that price. And I just love the efficiency of it all. -- soft serve ice cream was available, and it was very thick and creamy (though a bit off in taste). My wife also mentioned that you can get cotton candy as well. -- Service was good, with an employee in a hostess outfit personally letting us know that she was there to assist us, including getting drinks. She did clear dishes when necessary, but also seemed to be supervising our section. What's interesting is that the same report mentioned King Buffet in Garden Grove, which now seems to be another branch of the Paradise chain. So need to be leery of such reports not being current...but in this case, following its suggestion paid off.
I really wanted to try this place, and hubby and I were in the area so it was the perfect time. We had the senior lunch at 1 pm plus a drink which came out to $37 which was a steal. The service was friendly and I liked the tall ceiling and air conditioning. The food was meh. To be honest I should have tried the Mongolian bbq but I just chose from the hot menu. The chow mein noodles were over cooked and the egg roll had a weird flavor. I liked the fried chicken and baked chicken wings. The hot & sour soup was not good. The dessert was not bad . My husband said the salad was good. The sushi did not look appetizing. I really wanted to like this place, but sadly I was somewhat disappointed. I really liked that the price though.
We enjoyed the 4th of July brunch! Arrived right at the opening at 11am and found a long line, but thankfully, the service was quick. For our large party, a 10% tip was already included, although we didn't have a dedicated waiter. The food was delicious during the opening hours, with sushi made fresh at the counter. The water cups were clear, while the blue cups were used for other drinks. Plus, there was parking available, might get over packed
I learned the hard way that the hype is due to the lower price point. The quality is not high. We left feeling disappointed -- nothing was tasty. We came for the sushi. There were very few nigiri varieties. As depicted, the tuna and salmon were always out. The sushi rolls offered had little fish. Not assembled by a chef. I make better looking and better tasting rolls at home. My boys were so frustrated. The next thing we wanted to try was the Mongolian bbq as not all buffets have a station like this. It was disgusting. Everything tasted burnt from all the brown on the surface. This lady was so far behind, she not only did not clean the grill, she started putting the plastic bowls DIRECTLY ON THE HOT GRILL SURFACE. It was a long wait to get cooked food. We took one bite and had to toss the whole thing. This lady also did not add any broth to the bowls. If you've been to real Mongolian BBQ place, the chef helps each order get a nice flavor with added broths and monitoring what needs what to cook properly. The food we got here was a mess of burn and unflavored bleh. Remember the plastic bowls on the grill... Carcinogenic... I'm Chinese and the Chinese food was BAD. The beef and broccoli - the people cooking the beef did not drain the beef fat. So greasy and heavy. I again must assume they are not hiring chefs. Who makes this kind of rookie mistake batch after batch? Is there no manager supervising the quality of the food? The shrimp here mostly came from a frozen bag. There were whole shell on shrimp that was so overcooked that they stuck to the shell. I joked that this was purposeful to slow people down. Dessert bar was tasteless. I ran out of things to try. Disappointing to not have found even one thing to enjoy. I think the root of the problem are the bus boys or girls manning stations where a cook should have been. There was a long line to get in. Don't be duped. It's for the low price. Go elsewhere for a few more dollars. We won't be return customers.

Our first time going to the Paradise Buffet in Montebello, and it's been on my bookmark for a while. We were craving for AYCE buffet today, so we decided to try this place. Their price is very reasonable and affordable. Adult price $20.69 (same price for the whole day on Sunday), and senior price $19.69. We got there around 1:20 p.m. today, and we lined up for less than 10 minutes, then the server took us to a table to be seated. They have many different varieties of food, including Japanese (sushi), Chinese hot food, Mongolian BBQ, American food, and desserts. But don't expect that they have much seafood. (only shrimps, crabs & mussels, but NO clams, Oysters, or King Crab legs because you paid only $20.69.) The sushi quality was decent, they were fresh, but the sushi rice was not soft enough, and they were kinda dry. We liked that they had different sushi rolls, but without sashimi. For the Chinese hot food, the quality was mediocre. Some flavors were a bit salty. However, we liked the pork ribs, the mushrooms were very delicious and flavorful, and some noodles. The soups were okay. I had the clam chowder. We liked the Mongolian BBQ section because they had a lot of ingredients for you to choose from, and the section was big. It's different than other AYCE places, just providing a small section. We also liked that they gave you a number with a pager and let you know when your order is ready, then you go pick up. (Smart idea that you don't need to stand there, and you can go back to your table or get other stuff- decrease the clutter of people waiting.) Even though the meat quality was frozen and dry, we liked that they offered a lot of ingredients to choose from.) American food section- they had Mac N Cheese, French Fries, Pizza, fried chicken, fried shrimp, some mashed potatoes, etc.). I didn't try a lot of this section, so I couldn't comment on this section. Another plus that we liked was the dessert section. Many AYCE buffet places in the San Gabriel Valley (besides the buffets in Vegas) don't have many dessert options, or their desserts are not good. However, Paradise Buffet has many dessert options, and their desserts were decent. Their soft serve ice cream was so good, and they even had cotton candy. In conclusion, we liked their sushi (not the sushi rice), pork ribs, Mongolian BBQ (lots of varieties & ingredients), and desserts (cakes & ice cream). For the hot Chinese food, they were mediocre. Good service and friendly staff. Overall, I would give them 3.5 stars for the price we paid.

10/10 best buffet I have been to in years literally years been there twice now recommend it for only 20 bucks and all u can eat cotton candy only thing would complain was not table side ketchup or not having 24/7 cotton candy ready for people but literally always packed and good for the price like if you have a big family would recommend this is like one of my first places I been to and said wow that's good can't go wrong and there pizza is good idk if it's frozen most likely but it's good i don't know what else to say it's good cheap and they got sushi like you can not go wrong with this place read more

Spacious large open seating, easily accomodates big parties. 5/5 5/5 Mongolian bbq. You could do just this, and be happy for the senior price of $10.99. Beef is tough tho. Just do the chicken..or go veggie. Worth it. 5/5 sushi bar...replenished often, made on site. I liked something new to me...the carrot Inari, tasty!! 5/5 service is friendly, helpful, frequent checkins...please tip servers!! They are great!! Especially Patty, very hard working, treats you like a valued customer. 5/5 Tirimisu cake, strong flavor of coffee!! Yummy. The coconut macaroon, also yum. Soft serve ice cream. Great consistency. 5/5 cleanup... cleanliness...very impressive...cleaning team, yay . 5/5 Tilapia, prepared two ways..poached and breaded...large generous portion of this fish. Excellent and surprisingly good. Everything else was salty or dry or just wrong, like the Mac n cheese. 2-3/5 Mom wanted to try this buffet. We had a good time trying it all. Great for the price. It's buffet food so be zen with the heat lamp.... Plenty of free parking, shared with multiple businesses in this mini mall, anchored by Dennys and Smart and Final. Pretty good buffet. Pay first, then the host will take you to your seats. If you have a big group please call ahead and reserve! We had a group of 14 so it was convenient to have a table ready. There was a line out the door on a Saturday at 3p! For our large group there was an automatic 10% service tacked on. Good selection of Asian buffet foods (sushi, tempura, fried foods) as well as Mongolian bbq. Soft serve and cotton candy are good closers. We didn't like the sushi or salad selection very much seems too saucy. However maybe we're the minority as it looked like many partake in putting even more sauce on the rolls! Not too expensive, $18.99 per adult for Saturday lunch! read more

Everything was delicious and the place was very clean. The wok was cooked perfectly, and the sushi and rolls were made fresh right in front of us. Excellent service and very friendly staff. Highly recommend -- we'll definitely be back! read more

Food overall tastes great so I'm just going to list some parts I dislike. The grilled chicken was a big piece and underwhelming. One of the sushi tasted sweet like passion fruit or something. The mongolian bbq is lower quality than other places. The green melon was hard and probably unripe. Overall it's AYCE with many great options and extremely cheap. Service was quick to take plates and it has a big dining area. Edit: make sure to add a lot liquid sauces if you get mongolian bbq. pretty good if you do read more

Typically, Chinese buffets aren't really the best in terms of quality and service. I was genuinely surprised when I tried Paradise Buffet. I believe Paradise Buffet is somewhat new and replaced the old Home Town Buffet. We went on a Sunday so it was pretty packed with customers and we just waited about 20 minutes to be seated. (Pricing: As of July 14, 2024 - Sunday) Seniors are $18.99 + tax. Adults are $19.99 + tax. Soft drink cup is $2.99 each. Experience: Fantastic customer service for a buffet. The servers were on you pretty quickly taking out your finished plates. One of the workers was hella fast in cleaning and sweeping the dining areas. The decor inside was pretty nice and the restrooms aren't too bad neither. (Birthday deal: If you're in a party of 3, the birthday person will be free! Just need to show ID for proof of birthday.) Food: Paradise Buffet offers a wide range of foods from your typical fried rice and lo mein to BBQ ribs, fried jalapeños, crabs, and hibachi grill. Their food quality is not outstanding but, pretty good for a low cost, Chinese buffet. Their dessert section offers a variety of cakes/pies such as a chocolate cake, carrot cake, pumpkin pie, and cheesecakes. Even Cotton Candy for the kids! These items you won't necessarily find at another low cost Chinese buffets. Overall: One of the best affordable Chinese buffets I've ever been to. Very rare to find nowadays. I just hope that management keeps the same level of quality and service and budget minded prices throughout the coming years which is the hardest part. read more

An average buffet experience. They have a lot of choices and they even have sushi and crawfish! I thought all the foods I tried was okay. I couldn't find a dish that wanted me to come back for more. Overall for price and food choices it's decent. I do like all the choices of sushi and crawfish since that's what makes it worth it. Come early or prepare to wait! read more

Back again and it's been a while. This is our go to place whenever in the Garden Grove area when meeting with friends who majority lives near the area or bringing my mother for a doctor's visit at UCI. With the wide selection of dishes to choose from, Asian, Italian, Mexican, American and all sorts of international delicacies, you will not go wrong nor go into conflict with anyones craving. Service is good from the cashier, individuals attending the bars and specially our servers Antonia and Betty who truly served us to our delight. Both were prompt, courteous and attentive. Most of all my grand daughter truly felt at home with the staff and really enjoyed the food. Always a wonderful experience to address one's craving in this place. read more

This is one of the best buffets I've ever been to. On your birthday the staff will come and sing the song. When food runs out, it will be back soon. Mongolian BBQ is great. (Add cheese on top! It helps with flavor!) All of the dishes taste great and there's tons of it! By the way, THE CHEESECAKE IS AWESOME!!! read more

Honestly a great place with huge variety of food and awesome customer service. Buffets can always be a yay or nay! My family and I decided to try a new buffet place that had an appealing menu. We went on a Sunday and the wait time to be seated was approximately 20 minutes, which is not terrible. Food was good, sushi bar, mongolian bar, and dessert bar were by far my FAVORITES! Staff were constantly restocking on food, plates, utensils, which made the experience much more enjoyable. The area is clean, it can be a bit loud, but this is to the least of my worries since it is a buffet where families and big parties attend. Price is decent for the quality of the food. I would highly recommend you stop by on an empty stomach. read more

No they don't, first come first serve, it can get busy, if you are bringing ten plus, they will take some time to set up some tables for you
Do they have salmon, not just sushi but like cooked?
Yes, they do have baked salmon dish.
Do they have reservations on weekend?
No, the last time I went. They're busy so go early, before noon.
Can you make a reservation?
They took my reservation but I've called them to confirm like 30 times and no one ever picks up ... I don't know if the reservation stands...
Does the restaurant serve beer?
No they do not offer beer or alcoholic beverages
Do you have snow crab?
No and the season in Alaska was already canceled for 22-23 season
Do they do a weekend breakfast or brunch with omelets made to order?
I don't think so.
Is the food options the same between lunch and dinner menu?
I believe it's the same for the weekends. On weekdays they give ham for lunch and dinner is prime…
Does Paradise Buffet offer Sashimi?
I don't think so. At least not when I visited. There was plenty of sushi options though.
