i've been coming to this peet's on van ness every single work day for two years(??) so trust me when i say the energy here is something special. it's the best part of my mornings. the baristas (especially jassy and brandyn) are always warm and welcoming, and it really feels like a little community spot. i do miss mildred, dave, and kumar, they set a standard here!! they had such a smooth flow behind the bar. the new (to vanness) crew is super friendly, but they're still figuring out the rhythm. one thing i've noticed: drinks are made strictly in order, instead of weaving in the quick/easy ones with the longer ones. for example: * cold brews, iced teas, drip coffees should be quick grab-and-go pours. * multi-step espresso or blended drinks naturally take longer. right now, if you're behind a string of custom lattes, you can end up waiting 5-10 minutes for something as simple as a cold brew. the old team used to mix the quick orders in between, which kept the line moving and everyone happy. that's really my only constructive note. everything else is fire my drinks are always on point, never burnt, and the vibe here is what keeps me coming back every day. read more

Walking to an afternoon meeting, I needed a caffeine boost, and Peet's Coffee happened to be right along my path. I used to work in the Civic Center area years ago and remembered the coffee shop from back then. Right next to it, where Books Inc. is now, was another bookstore, and it was one of my favorite stops. Coffee and books, what a great combination!! Anyhow, I ordered a cafe latte, and the young man who took my order was very professional. He asked me if I wanted to combine it with any pastries and asked for my name. A few minutes later, another associate called my name and handed me the latte. While waiting, I looked around, and the setup was the standard one you see in many coffee shops these days, with a few tables to sit at and a long table for standing. The latte did not have the rich flavor I was hoping for, so it was not great, but good enough for what I needed. Stopped by for a quick coffee before our quick brunch at Brenda's. It's conveniently 5 min walk from our brunch spot and I definitely needed a coffee pick me up from the long Bart ride. I got the oat milk cold brew which was about $7. Order was quick and the service was patient with my indecisiveness as well. Overall, not a bad place to be! Although it's in a busy part of the area; there's nothing wrong with getting a quick coffee here to keep you moving. read more

This is my go to coffee shop. Always get served with a smile, and my coffee cones to me quickly. I request leas ice and they too up with coffee rather than give me less. That always makes me very happy. They participate in "too good to go" and help give food to those less fortunate. The atmosphere is nice and it is clean and warm. Love this location. read more

Great location sharing its entrance with Books, Inc store. Got a Strawberry Green Iced tea today which was good, as from other locations so standards are being held up there. Parking in the building's garage is close and has valet service. The single bathroom is locked but that hasn't helped the cleanliness up. Not terrible but not good. The seating inside is nice to have, but it never feels hygienically smart to hang out there. The place could use an update, but overall, it's the overwhelming feeling of just not being cleaned regularly each time I've been here that makes this hard to visit. read more

Its cool that it's connected to a book store! The workers that have helped me are really nice. If you've been to a peet's before then it's really no surprise from the usual when it comes to taste I think. I was early for my ophthalmologist appointment whose office is directly across the street. I came in to order a latte. Service was quick & efficient. As I'm waiting for my latte it occurred to me I didn't have my face mask as medical offices still require you wearing one. What the heck? I asked Peet's. The app-ordering experience sucks. Either their system is broken or they are disorganized. On multiple occasions, I've waited 15 minutes for a drip coffee despite ordering ahead on the app. The manager/staff only acknowledges me after waiting a while by the pick-up area, asks for my order, then hands over the coffee without a word. A little customer service goes a long way, especially when you're screwing up. read more

I have been to this location about six or seven times now, and more often than not, the service is bad. My order has come out after those who have ordered after me, and it wasn't a simple coffee, and when I asked where my order was the middle eastern manager/owner brushed me off. This is a great Peet's on Van Ness. I frequent this location during the week since it's near my work. I usually order through the app and my order is waiting for me when I arrive. The staff are friendly and work quickly while providing quality customer service. Recently, I thought I placed an order on the app before I started to head over but I forgot to hit the submit button. A nice lady behind the counter told me they didn't receive the order so I ordered it with her. I felt like she went the extra mile to make sure I had a great experience and I can say I greatly appreciate her great service. Customers can now sit inside. There is plenty of tables and high tops. There is a line organizer when you walk in I like that their customer service was polite . This was my first time in and I asked the cashier for recommendations she recommended a latte and they have oat milk and almond milk options . I also had a gluten free muffin not my favorite it's not my type of muffin. I'll have to come back and try a croissant. There was lots of seating I was able to snag a window seat. There are lots of outlets that work great . There is free WiFi that requires your email. This is also connected to the book store as well . There is a bathroom that was out of service which I'm assuming is because of people not respecting it . I did see a woman staff come out and clean the tables very often that pleased me . It's really clean and sanitary . The only complaint is their restroom being out of service I had to go inside the plaza movie theater. it also can get loud throughout the day because they get busy.
