This was my first visit to Piatti's at Elian in San Antonio although I am very familiar with Piatti's at the Quarry. Our experience was delightful due to our fantastic waiter, Alex. We celebrated my friend's birthday with delicious food and a decadent dessert. We began with a tasting of white wines and made our choices. Next the bib lettuce salad with goat cheese was a perfect beginning followed by a hearty but light tagliatelle entree. Alex recommended the tiramisu for dessert accompanied with an espresso. Another great happy hour at Piatti at Eilan! A friend and I were early for dinner at another place in the area and decided to stop in for a cocktail. The environment is so nice and sleek but not pretentious, just the way I like it! We sat at the bar and the bartender was so nice and friendly. I had a really yummy Hemingway Daiquiri for $6! They also offer discounted beer and wine and great deals on apps which I have done before, but we didn't tonight since we were headed somewhere else. Can't wait to sit on the patio on a nice sunny afternoon, seems really lovely. I've also visited the location at the Quarry which is larger, louder and not as friendly. I work near Piatti. I enjoy it. It has a great atmosphere. The food is great, the staff are friendly, they have an awesome brunch. I'm giving this review two stars for the price. I just paid $14 for a small Farfalle Chicken Alfredo, and they were not kidding, it's certainly small, probably a meager 4 oz. of pasta. I can feed myself for two weeks maybe more on $14 of pasta from a grocery store. I know these are hard times for restaurants, but $14 for a tiny scoop of obviously dried pasta is highway robbery. Went to Piattis for my husband's birthday, his choice. We have been before but it's been a few years. The atmosphere is always relaxing, romantic, upscale. Atmosphere, friendly staff, great Italian food choices, this place has it all... A night out here is really a night out in the entire complex it is located in. Designed like the Mediterranean cliff side, this area is a great place to shop, dine and just hang out. While Piatti comes off a little fancy it can be casual too and the prices won't kill you so definitely don't be intimidated. Also the menu is diverse and they have a "fit menu" with lower carb and calorie options. Sometimes we think Italian food has to be heavy but Piatti really has some great options. If your looking for a meal not so carb heavy I recommend the zucchini noodle chicken plate. The tomato sauce was really seasoned well and the dish didn't leave us feeling stuffed. Went to celebrate my twin sister and i's birthday with a few friends. 8 total in our party. Open table doesn't accept larger parties than 5 for some reason but we called and they accommodated us! They even had Happy Birthday on the menu which was a great touch! Service wise, I'd give our server a 3. Though he was polite and patient because we had a few late comers, he still forgot a lot of things. Also, we had mentioned to him we were ready to order at least 3 times and every time he left for some reason. More tea, needed something to write with or forgot something. Atmosphere was great, very dark and intimate. Our table was in the middle of the room though and it was close to the surrounding tables so the servers kept bumping into us, which was kind of annoying but I guess they had to accommodate us somewhere. Food was delicious! Everyone enjoyed their food. My seafood stew was great. I tried a bit of my dates steak and it was nice and tender and perfectly seasoned. Each time we go to Piatti's we discover a new level of dishonesty. It started with the wine - their Chianti Ruffino, which they labeled Riserva in the menu, was not Riserva at all. It's the cheapest, most distasteful $8 bottle of wine you will ever find. I pointed this mistake twice to the managers, ... finally they adjusted the menu accordingly. The last time we visited on May 21, 2022, we opted for beer. We ordered draft Stella (as they were out of Peroni). The menu stated $6.50 per beer but when we received the bill, we were charged $7.50 per beer. Since there is no draft beer on the menu for $7.50, this must not be an oversight, but done intentionally. I guess they were hoping by the time customers receive their bill they won't remember? Given the amount of dishonesty, what else are they misrepresenting? We love their Cioppino dish but every time we order it the dish looks different. I have images from each occasion and each Cioppino dish is entirely different. I was also charged two separate 3% surcharge. The waiter said it's to cover covid, the bill says, "to cover the price of employee mandates." Another inconsistency and what mandates??? Is this even legal? We are in Texas, not in California, and this is the only restaurant that charges covid surcharges in May 2022! read more

Upon our arrival we were notified there was a flood in the restaurant that had occurred earlier in the day and they could not serve us. I ordered the veal and it was so salty, all I could taste was the caper brine. There were far, far too many capers and they were clearly not pre-rinsed. I have never sent a dish back before, and I probably should have here, but we were with our teen sons and I'm really cautious about not raising them to be entitled or bratty, so I just ate my food. Perhaps I should have taken the opportunity to teach them that as a paying customer, you don't have to eat something gross just to be polite. Husband later told me his was also bad. Server was friendly enough but rushed. Servings of non-pasta items were way more sparse than photos here show. Really got the sense they are cutting back for budget purposes. I woke up super dehydrated last night because of how salty that meal was. I'm not kidding. Just really, really disappointing and I'm actually very easy to please. We won't be back. Went to dinner on a Wednesday night, no wait, Food was excellent. I had the shaved zucchini dish with "tagliatelle" grilled chicken, toasted pine nuts, spinach, and sugo ruso! I will be back just for this. I prefer this location because it's smaller, more quaint and located in a secluded area of Eilan. Great for a nice dinner or quick lunch if you're in the area. Other than the fact that pre-meal bread/olive oil is no longer complimentary, the food was as good as it ever is--which is to say good but NOT great. Our panini sandwiches at lunch were serviceable and the pasta Alfredo with herbed chicken was good but heavy on the garlic. Salads were good, but I have to say the tiny wedge salad was massively overpriced. Our dining room experience, however, was sullied by an untrained and inattentive waiter who provided VERY sub-par service. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all and he only had a couple of tables to deal with, but seemed more intent on doing his "side work" and was often so far away that we had to get up and chase him down all the way at the opposite end of the restaurant just to get some pepper for our salads--something that should have been offered when they were served. There was no manager anywhere in sight, and no other waiters worked as a team like in many other establishments. This place seems to be on "autopilot." It doesn't help that the water glasses that were on our table when we sat down were absolutely filthy with greasy fingerprints and appeared not to have been washed. The silverware also looked unclean and I sent both back for replacements. Why do I have to be the quality control agent here? That's the managers job. Given the current Covid resurgence in San Antonio, I question this restaurant's commitment to hygiene and service, and won't soon be back. Paisano's 1604 is hands down better, even if it's more expensive. read more

My family and have been frequenting the restaurant for years and unfortunately we were not impressed by the new menu servings. We want our classic dishes such a burratta and chicken Alfredo back. Their food is pretty good, my favorite is the Alfredo with sun dried tomatoes(Farfalle Pasta), it never disappoints, I've tried their margarita pizza and chicken Marsala as well and I liked both of those!
