I have never had a Poke bowl and I decided to finally try it since my boyfriend loves this spot. This spot did not disappoint, for my first time it was such a good Poke Bowl. I give it a 10/10 the quality and taste of the food was so amazing. Been wanting to try this place for a little while because I'm a frequent customer for Niko Niko sushi down the street. Service was great, no complaints about that. I read some reviews and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt from the "small" portions of fish. Other reviewers sparked my interested as "generous" portions. All the customers that reviewed it as "small"portions don't have pictures. I, on the other hand have pictures. Look at the bite sized salmon pieces. On top of it being bite sized...there was maybe 10 tiny pieces of fish in my entire bowl. The edamame was bigger! At a whopping $22 for a small bowl (2 proteins, added avocado) I was really disappointed and shocked. I couldn't NOT take pictures. I've been to some of the best poké restaurants around CA and HI and this is far from authentic and "generously" portioned bowls. I do want to credit that the sauces are pretty tasty. Our favorite poke spot in LA. They just care so much and you can tell by the quality and taste of all the ingredients. It's delicious!! Our favorites are the Ahi tuna and the spicy salmon. We get our bowls with house sauce, eel sauce, and spicy mayo. Also the portion sizes are great. Their fried chicken bowl is also so yummy and a good alternative if you don't want seafood. We were in a hurry to find some food on a trip passing this area (almost 9 pm on a holiday) and run into this place by accident. We were very happy with the food and service. Yummy and fresh ingredients at a reasonable price. We are not big eaters so the small bowls were just right for us. I moved to Burbank a few years ago and I was surprised by the lack of poke places. I was very excited when I saw Poke Loulu opening up just down the street from my place. I ordered the medium bowl and was satisfied with the size. The bowls are those compostable paper bowl which is fine but I noticed once I finished my bowl the hot rice had started to breakdown the bottom of the bowl and I'm not confident I didn't eat a little bit of bowl. BUT besides that the sauces and toppings were fresh, the counter was clean, and the staff was courteous. Also, my wife ordered a vegetarian bowl (no fish tofu only) and received a discount on her bowl which was a pleasant surprise. She also has celiac disease so she was reassured with the cleanliness of the counter (always on the lookout for gluten cross contamination). We were told the eel sauce was gluten-free which was nice (considering most sauces have a gluten soy sauce base). Pros: Clean, Courteous, Sauces Cons: Should consider switching to bowls that can stand up to the hot/steaming rice. read more
