First, there's chicken and then there's chicken. This place uses Mary's Chickens, which are very good and available at local supermarkets. The difference in taste is pretty dramatic. You get your choice of preparations and dishes using either fried chicken, rotisserie chicken or a chicken substitute (vegan). Every dish I have ordered was great but have not ordered vegan yet. Meals come with a (small) salad and (small) biscuit. The truth is that's all you need, but both make you long for more. I'm local, eat here all the time. And if you are not local, note that all restaurant prices are high and this is no exception, so get over it. Meals for two will run about $45 for a wholesome and tasty meal. Friendly staff. Order and sit, meals come out fast. Basic table layout, great place for kids. Ample parking in back. After dinner stop by the nearby bookstore and buy a book! read more

Wow great chicken sandwich place! Saturday 12/4/2021 was their pre-grand opening phase where they were giving away free chicken sandwiches! Yay! I found the advertisement last minute online and I decided to go to try this chicken place for the first time. I have heard of the name of the restaurant but I have never been there when I was located back in San Francisco downtown district. I felt the name was a bit strange, which was probably why I skipped it back then. Ha ha. So in the new location in the Presidio Heights district, it's nicely place within the Laurel Heights shopping plaza. It makes a nice great addition to the neighborhood. The lines was neatly lined up every easy to order your sandwich wait outside or inside a restaurant they will call your name if it is takeout. Condiments napkins and hot sauce and ketchup or at the counter on the side. I like the nice decoration of roosters on the wall. I was able to try the classic fried chicken sandwich which was quite excellent and I had tried the flipped rotisserie chicken which was Chopped into smaller pieces. Also I'm just were great oh my favorite one is the standard fried chicken one. Orange spicy sauce was quite tasty as I mixed it with the ketchup. It was quite an enjoyable meal we're freshly made cow chips inside to take out box. Was definitely yummy in our tummies and we would be more than happy to return this location when we have a craving for chicken sandwich. read more

After a long day cooking at work, I stopped at Proposition Chicken for some...well, chicken. I ordered the hot wings and was so surprised by how incredibly dry and inedible the drumettes were. The wing parts were a little easier to eat but also super dry and tough. They were just cooked while I was there so I couldn't figure out how they could be so overcooked and dry like that. Then there is the little problem with the hot wings sauce. Wayyyy too much vinegar and the heat is lip numbing hot. Not tasty hot...it was that type of heat that blocks the taste of what you're eating and is just kind of annoying. Also, the bleu cheese "mouse" for dipping the celery, WHAT IS THAT? It's a thinned out runny, tasteless mess. It needs to at least taste a little like bleu cheese. Forget calling it a mousse. That is just ridiculous. I bought a big order to bring to work about a month ago and nobody ate the wings. Nobody. At the time I didn't understand it, but now I see why. I noticed the box had wings with one bite missing. So that's that. I really wanted to like this place. The people working there are incredibly helpful and friendly. If they can figure out how to fry chicken wings I'll be back. I've been coming to Proposition Chicken since they opened in Laurel Village any time I need a delicious, comfort food, chicken meal. Depending on my mood, I'll get any number of different items. This last trip I had the crispy chicken sandwich and chicken tenders with fries and brussel sprouts. The chicken sandwich was delicious! Traditional chicken sando, which is pretty rare to find in the city, so that always hits the spot. The tenders were bomb too. Crispy and tender, chef's kiss! The Brussels were also delicious, sweet, salty, and too many to finish (good portion for $7). Came here after hearing they fry their gluten free chicken in a completely separate fryer. My mom has a severe gluten intolerance and has been craving fried chicken for years. She didn't get sick and she was completely over the moon! We went on a Friday night and it was busy but mainly busy with to go orders. Staff was friendly, cleaned the table for us when we walked over. It is a bit pricy but I would say worth it for those who are gluten free and craving fried chicken. It was buttery and sweet, like the cookie part of a raspberry crumble cookie from Costco. It was good even though it didn't taste like a traditional cornbread. Ordered catering from here last Wednesday for my office and holy cow, every sandwich and salad box we received tasted amazing per my co workers. Everyone truly enjoyed their order they placed. Unfortunately they said that every box had chips and spicy slaw but we only got the chips NOT the slaw. Thankfully no one really noticed but I did since I placed the order. My first time eating here! I was on my way to a doctors appointment and saw this place. I was pretty hungry so I ordered the flipped chicken with a side salad and butter biscuit. I thought the chicken was very tasty and they give you a good sized portion! The salad was like a Greek salad with tomato cucumber and onions! I've been eating at Prop C for years now, specifically the old one on Market so I was excited to try the new spot. As usual, I was ecstatic to be met with the delicious food once again and great service. Even though they were busy cranking out to-go orders, I was taken care of spectacularly. I normally alternate between the fried sandwich and the flipped salad but this time I got the fried salad and it was the best of both worlds. Juicy yet crispy chicken with a zesty salad dressing. I also love how they use both romaine and kale as the lettuce bases because normally I get bored if it is just one or the other. Overall, I am excited to learn that this new spot was just as good, if not better than the old location. If you are ever in the Laurel Village area make sure to try this bomb ass chicken and grab yourself a fried salad as well. read more

kinda shocked this is only under 4 stars. i'd say this is a solid 4.2-4.5 based on food quality and operations. we have kids, so finding a place to get chicken nuggets that both kids and adults adore is a challenge. proposition chicken is by far the highest quality food we find. excellent salads with great salad dressings. chicken tenders that are delectable for adults too. and actually, fries are quite fresh and crisp. i'm reminded how great PC is when in direct comparison to other similar places. we went to starbird yesterday when we had to go to foster city. and it was sad--fries were soggy, the fried batter crust tasted dank (like old oil). salad was made of uneven chunks of huge and small cabbage. proposition chicken is the same price, but about 10 times better in quality. fresh, great meat quality, crunchy, all the sauces very vivid. this is why we go out of the way to eat at this location. service is fast and friendly and really great for kids. good location to take them to the book passage or ace hardware while the food is being cooked up. read more

I don't know what happened, but the past two delivery orders were wrong, cold and not good. Maybe they have a new manager. I order from them frequently, all orders usually over $100, but I won't be ordering again. Called for a refund and the manager didn't sound apologetic or overly concerned, he really didn't care. This food used to show up hot and fresh, they are right down the street from me, although too far to walk, it isn't a long enough drive for the door dasher to pick it up and come straight here with the food not hot, or at least warmish, which you can watch them do with the tracking map. Although it would help if they spoke English so that they could read the order and confirm it. I mean when you spend $100+ for some crappy fast food fried chicken the least they could do is bring everything you ordered. I just give up. read more

I've probably had everything on the menu at this point in 6 or so months, and I think this place is pretty underrated. Two things really make them stand out: their chicken sandwich and their ranch sauce. You're thinking "what? The ranch sauce?" It's actual dill-based ranch sauce that is seriously good, and it's especially delicious on the chicken salad. I'm not a big fan of Buffalo sauce in general so I also eat the chicken strips with the ranch sauce. Long story short: ask for a side of the ranch sauce if you get the excellent chicken sandwich, too. I'm going rename this place Proposition Ranch Sauce. The chicken is great but the ranch sauce is what turns it into magic. The space looks nice and I like the BBQ joint style metal trays that kind of reminds me of Texas BBQ joints.
