Thanks for the food poisoning last night. The vomiting set in 8hr after I ate my gluten free fried chicken salad and some of the spicy slaw. It took another 8hr before I could keep any water down. I was supposed to take a trip to Big Sur today, which I had to cancel. Never again. ETA: I wish I'd looked at their most recent health score from October noting they failed to meet hot and cold holding temperature requirements.

I stopped here to pick up something to go . So of course it was chicken I took the fried was not for me. Servers were quite fresh and pleasant. The place is decorated in a fun way with of course Chickens and nice bright welcoming colors.

We were looking for a spot for a quick dinner, our friend suggested we try Proposition Chicken. We've never been to any of their locations, so this would be a new experience. The interiors felt like a chain, but a little bit better in ambience. Though the lighting was a bit too dim to see what you're eating. You can choose from a: sandwich, salad, or entree then pick the type of chicken you'd like: fried, flipped, or fake. OUR PICKS: FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH ~ you get a roll, and cole slaw inside your sandwich and chips on the side. Something about the taste of this chicken didn't taste like it was homemade. It's like you know it's fast food or a chain restaurant. We didn't like all that slaw in the sandwich. You could barely taste the chicken because of it. It covered up the main star which was supposed to be the chicken. Though it gave it some moisture since the chicken was kind of dry. 3/5 FLIPPED SALAD ~ sliced rotisserie chicken in a salad. I asked for dressing on the side. The chicken was quite dry. It's breast meat. Not my favorite part of the chicken. I guess I should have gotten fried chicken instead but I wanted something that wasn't fried. Not a fan of the kale. I think it would have been better to have baby kale. And the romaine lettuce was barely there. 3/5 FRIED CHICKEN ENTREE ~ the fried chicken pieces were small. We got a thigh, breast, and drum. The batter was somewhat crispy but thin. The dark meat chicken was better than white meat. The sage chips were good, but the buttermilk biscuit was extremely dry! You can choke if you don't drink something with it. 3/5 I guess our experience wasn't too good. Most things were edible, just wasn't amazingly good or something we'd crave or come back for.

Decided to come back to try their chicken wings. Unfortunately buffalo wings, nothing special but their fried chicken sandwich (star of the show) made up for it. Also the chips on the side was delicious and of course their potato wedges. Medium busy on a weekday after work, wish I knew they had a happy hour before 5 pm, I would've wanted to order a drink or more appetizers .

Tried this out as it's near my wife's work, The food is tasty, staff is friendly and the location is clean and spacious. We recently went back and also tried the fried chicken and breakfast sandwiches and so far everything has been really good. I heard they have another location in west portal so hopefully that's just as good! The Hababero hot sauce is nice, sweet and tangy and not too spicy!

Proposition Chicken is a great place to stop for a casual meal. The food is made fresh and is genuinely delicious. Buffalo Wings (6.5/10): The buffalo sauce has a great tang and spice to it. I just wish the wings were crispier, as they honestly had almost no crisp at all. For a fried chicken spot, I expect more crunch. Fried Chicken Entrée (7.5/10): The fried chicken itself is very good: crispy, juicy, and made up of thick, satisfying pieces. Definitely top-tier fried chicken for the city. The sauce and side salad felt unnecessary and didn't add much to the meal. The biscuit leaned more cake-like since it was extremely sweet and not very buttery. Fried Chicken Sandwich (7/10): This felt like an upgraded version of Burger King's chicken sandwich, meant in the best way. The chicken portion is thick, and the sandwich is very simple, with just slaw. It was messy to eat but still a tasty, straightforward chicken sandwich. Overall, I'd recommend Proposition Chicken to anyone in the area. It's on the pricier side, and I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but if I'm nearby and need to satisfy a fried chicken craving, I'd gladly stop by.

I love coming here for my late lunch. Service is quick and staff is always helpful. Today having tofu for my meal along with the lemonade. Ambiance is clean but there was a table that looked clean but it was hard to see the table was dirty. Found another table to have my lunch.

Got this togo and didn't get the chance to eat it until 30 minutes to 1 hour later, so I assume it wasn't at its best. The bread sorta had a stale texture, but I won't blame them for that since I let it sit. The chicken had okay flavor and was accompanied by sauce and coleslaw. The potato wedges were still pretty good

I stopped by Proposition Chicken on a Tuesday afternoon since I was in the area, and there were many people there enjoying a mid-day meal or snack. I was there for their Happy Hour, and so I tried their chicken strips. My order was ready within 5 minutes. While I got the strips to-go, my order was still perfectly crispy! The chicken was tender on the inside and freshly made. The breading had great texture and seasoning, and it was good with the dipping sauce. $7 for the chicken strip portion was worth it! The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was casual and gave a modern vibe.

Not Your Average Chicken Spot - Fried, Flipped & Fake Done Right! (3/5) Proposition Chicken isn't your typical fast-food chicken joint -- it's a cool, fast-casual spot with a creative twist. Their whole concept is "chicken three ways": Fried (crispy & classic) Flipped (slow-roasted & juicy) Fake (crispy BBQ tofu for the plant-based crew) You can choose your style -- sandwich, salad, or entrée -- and they even serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which is a nice touch. I went with the fried chicken sandwich, which was decent but not amazing. Then I tried one piece of fried chicken by itself, and that actually hit better -- crispy, seasoned perfectly, and way more flavorful. I'd go that route next time! The onion rings were (super crispy and different from your usual kind), and the house potato chips were a solid win. The bone broth surprised me -- warm, rich, and packed with herbs and real flavor. You can tell they take the time to do it right. The spot has a modern, quick-service vibe -- clean, upbeat, and pretty busy while we ate, but service stayed efficient. Big bonus: free parking in the back (a rare Bay Area perk) and they serve beer and wine . Tip: They've only got one restroom, and it could use some extra attention. It's a single-toilet setup that doesn't always stay clean during rush hours. A stand urinal would be a smart upgrade -- it'd definitely help keep things tidier and the floor dry. Overall, I'd give 3 solid stars -- not mind-blowing, but worth checking out if you're in Oakland or San Francisco. Something different, with healthier takes on chicken done right.

    Honey Mustard Wings
    Lily Z.

I ordered the Honey Mustard Wings -- 8.5/10. Each wing was evenly coated with sauce and had the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. The Chicken Tenders were a solid 9/10 -- super crunchy, juicy, and absolutely delightful. I also have to mention the Habanero Sauce, not too spicy, but it had this nice tingling sensation on my tongue that made it addicting. Overall, such a satisfying meal with great flavors and crispy textures. Will definitely be back!

I got the entrée meal which came with a half breast, a thigh and a chicken drum and the choice of a fries or salad. I got fried chicken instead of flipped and the chicken is magically crispy possibly one of the crispy chicken that I've ever had perfectly cooked and the fries seasoned to perfection. Have nice people working here not only nice to customers but nice to one another the first time here and I'm very satisfied. This is the real finger licking good.Thank you Chris.

    Fried Chicken Salad
    Shan C.

Clean, quality, and good food! I tried the fried chicken salad and Arnold Palmer drink. The fried chicken is really crispy. It has the same texture as katsu. My favorite sauce for it was the habanero sauce. The salad was good, and the ingredients actually tasted real. Did not get the stale Sysco salad vibe, lol. The salad was filling too. I felt full but not gross after. I really like the way the restaurant is run, very efficient. Everyone there is helpful and pretty cheerful.

The rustic/home style decor was very welcoming and it seemed that a lot of the folks knew the cashiers/barista! I ordered a Breakfast Burrito with Carne Asada ($12) and an iced latte with Oat Milk ($6). It took ~15-20 for my burrito but the latte came out within five minutes and was made fresh with Portrero Trade Operations coffee beans! While waiting, I ended up buying a bag of coffee beans with flavor notes that were so unique- "cola, tomato, and herbaceous". For $25 you get a whole pound of coffee beans, which most only offer 12oz now. Get a bag while you can! The breakfast burrito was served with one green and one red salsa plus a small bag of chips. The burrito was decently sized and very juicy. I was a bit sad to see that the cheese wasn't melted inside, but the fresh pico de gallo inside totally made up for it. The carne asada had a great bite to it and everything was seasoned well. The salsa verde was absolutely stunning. Not too acidic and just the right amount of spice to go with my burrito. My partner and I ended up getting the margarita pitcher deal that came with 50 wings... (Hear me out). We got pretty tipsy off of the pitcher because the bartender put in a lot of tequila. So it's definitely worth it. We ate as much wings as we could, and saved the rest in our own Tupperware. There was a sign at the bar telling patrons that you couldn't take out any leftovers, but when we spoke to the bartender, he told us that Tupperware would be extra charge so we were lucky that we brought our own at that time. Now, the wings: Some of them were pretty dry. I'm assuming the bar would cook them before the happy hour rush and then they would reheat them with the sauces that people ordered. My partner, and I tried the buffalo, lemon pepper, teriyaki, and mango habanero. The mango habanero was spicy and sweet. I think that was our favorite. I was a little disappointed with the lemon pepper because it was really salty. And the other two were pretty mid. The staff was really nice. The vibes were pretty nice. We were early to the happy hour so there wasn't that much people and we also sat outside in the back patio, which was pretty cool. I could definitely see this bar being a very popular spot. I think if you come here with a big group of people and get the margarita pitcher with the 50 wings, it's a pretty good deal splitting it out with your friends. They have other deals as well where you would get a certain number of wings if you ordered a beer or a beer pitcher, etc. We just wanted to get as many wings as possible and get tipsy lol. I recommend this spot if you're meeting up with friends or had a long day at work.

For drinks we ordered the Oaxacan Carnival, SoMa, Urban Canine and Trick Dog. My favorite was the Oaxacan cocktail, and it's what I got again when we came back the second time. For food we ordered bao buns, french fries, cauliflower, and the trick nuggets. The nuggets were so good and crispy I ordered them again when we came back. The bar is downstairs and you walk through it and up the stairs to get to the upstairs dining area. The restrooms are back downstairs so keep that in mind. We perused the menu, which was a book of photographs, with great descriptions of the drinks and the photos of San Francisco culture. It was hard to choose only one drink because they all had interesting ingredients. The ice in my drink had words inscribed in it. That was really cool (literally); I've never seen that effect before in a cocktail. The drinks were nice and if you don't want a cocktail, they also have root beer, beer and wine. The table next to us ordered the kale salad and it was piled high so we had to order that too but we got it to go, along with the fries, which were delicious.
