The chicken fried chicken and steak are very good. I hear they sometimes have prime rib but haven't tried it.

It was delicious We kinda had two waitresses because one girl was in training, and they were great. We each got a Lone Star beer to start (But I got mine from the bottle, and my very considerate waitress made sure I got the top with it, because they have riddles on them! Awesome. I love Texas.) They gave us I guess honey-glazed buns with cinnamon butter? It was dynamite-SO GOOD. Then, we shared an order of gator bites (which were very good, a little on the salty side . . . but I've never had gator before, I guess that's just how it is haha), and he got a steak, which was great, and I tried the quail! Some tables were taped off for no seating and not many customers were there around 5pm. So, there was a lack of atmosphere and seemed a bit empty. Food looked good, but mine got cold quickly. We were helped promptly and good waiter service for sure. read more

This place is massive, has a dance floor, outdoor concert stage, and bar that supports both inside and outside seating! Air condition blasting and you can sit outside at the bar window ;) Outdoor covered area with picnic table. Place is nicely off the main highway and has a nice green field, at least until the development expands :) The bartender ignored me for the first 10 minutes even though I was only one of two people at the bar at 7:00pm... and 5 people came down that she serviced first. Oh well, young beautiful bartenders I suppose can get away with that. UPDATE: I never said anything, and she didn't want to charge me for the two iced teas I had, $3 tip her way :) All I had was an ice tea.. plenty of photos. The bar has a modest set, but has a nice selection of premiums, Oban 14 Scotch - didn't ask the price. First of all, my waitress, Olga, was very friendly....however, she knew something was wrong when she asked how our meal was and my plate was barely touched. I didnt order a hamburger patty, I ordered a filet mignon. But, what I got was the hamburger patty. $35, thank you very much! The baked potato wouldnt melt butter it was so cold. You can take my word, or you can go experience this for yourself. Save yourself the money...they will not refund if you are not happy, as most legitimate restaurants will. Good food and really good service. Everything seemed to come to the table quickly, whether the alligator tail appetizer, the main courses and even handling the check - it was all quick. The steak was cooked just right and the chicken fried steak actually had steak inside. The only downside was the noise. It was a busy Saturday night and so it's somewhat understandable, lots of people in a restaurant having a good time talk loudly. But while the old-time corrugated tin on the ceiling might add to some kind of barn ambience, an acoustic tile would make more sense. Well, maybe the exclusion of a dinner salad might be to some another downer. Entrees come with two sides but no salad and it can't even be substituted. We seem to forget about Ransoms! We had a party of 8 for dinner on a Friday night. Sat at high top table near the bar. Live music was on the patio. Garage door type walls opened. We had appetizers and cocktails to start. I had the special pomegranate margarita that was really good. I hope they put it on the regular menu. Two friends had the sunset drink that was peachy. They loved it. Buffalo bites were good and spicy. Very wet on the sauce. Could have been less on them. Queso was good. Chips were light and crisp. I got the chicken tenders for an entree with fried okra and Mac n cheese. Yum!! The tenders were HUGE and that cilantro ranch!! Hubs got the chopped steak with loaded mashed potatoes and green beans. He said it was really good. Rolls are always yummy too. Friend liked the gumbo. Didn't hear much feedback on others. (Pork chops, fish and chips, and burger). We had a great time. Waitstaff was awesome. Kylie busted her butt working all the tables. Other staff would stop and check on us as well. For the amount of food and great time we had, check was surprisingly low. My family and I have visited this establishment many times. On our last visit, both my husband and son became very sick (symptoms related to food poisoning). We determined the only culprit must have been what they ate the night before. Both became very ill and missed work and school for 2 days. I called the to speak to a manager to ask if they had received any other reports of food poisoning. I was told the Owner would call me back. I let a week + pass, no call back. I called again and was told Owner would call me back. I have yet to receive a returned call, apology or explanation. We do not recommend nor will we visit this restaurant again due to their disregard of the safety and concern of it's customers. read more

I love ransoms. Family owned establishment with a variety of choices. The buttered rolls are amazing - steak queso and filet are great. The Buffalo bites are full of flavor and atmosphere is superb. They have an outdoor area with tables and grass with live music. Many local HS kids working here. Their menu lacks quality, value, and innovation - literally the exact same menu a few years later?? We went with a party of 10 and as we were leaving spent another ten minutes in the parking lot talking about how we should have left earlier so we could talk to each other. Mediocre food that is overpriced, but my main complaint is that after eating a full meal and giving a 20% tip (myself and 3 children), we walked down the street to play putt putt and returned an hour later hot and needing water. THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO BUY WATER AT $2 per cup! A paying customer has to pay for water?! If I had asked for our water to go, it would have been free. In addition, $2 for a cup of water for CHILDREN?! Shame on you. We were dripping with sweat and had paid you for an entire meal! When we 1st saw Ransom's, we said we will eat here one day. So today we decided to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary here, AND WE WILL BE BACK!! The atmosphere is welcoming and fun. There was a live band here today (Friday) that did wonderful. The music was inviting and had my kids movin' to the groove. Very kid friendly, very packed yet our food came out super fast! The soft rolls are amazing with the "whipped butter" and the queso appetizer (with steak) is a must! Our table had the chicken fried steak, potato wedges, 2 burgers, and the chicken with mushrooms, peppers and provolone (I believe), asparagus and a baked potato. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Wanted so bad the cobbler because that's what I love... But as usual had no room since I already overstuffed my gut! Had a blast and we love this place! Glad it's close to home! read more

Oh no, you get to choose 2 side dishes and then you pay an extra few bucks for a side salad. Anyone else find this practice annoying AF!? Hey Randsoms... how about y'all make a side salad as one of the choices (or a substitute for both side dishes). You'll not loose money on this and I bet you'll have plenty more satisfied customers. This was our first time here. Came for lunch. My wife ordered the Beef Brochette appetizer and a wedge salad for her meal. The meat was extremely tender and tasty. The salad was crisp and flavorful. I ordered the chicken fried chicken. One of the best that I've had. Our server, Taylor, was absolutely fantastic, friendly and helpful. We are very glad that we made the trip up from The Woodlands for lunch. We will definitely return back again to try some other dishes, in the future. read more

OK, I gave this place multiple chances to be a decent restaurant. But it is just not. Warrants, I ordered some chicken Diablo's because that's what sounded good. I think they were around $11. My wife ordered chicken strips because that's what sounded good to her. I received my plate of chicken which happened to be 3 3 inch pieces of chicken. I look to my server and asked is this really all I get? She said yes and that she understands if I want to order something else. So I said yes I would, I do not want this. By the way my wife's $8 chicken strip meal probably had six pieces of 7 inch chicken strips. The manager came over rather quickly and asked if there was anything wrong with the meal. I let him know that I don't know if anything was wrong with it other than the serving portion which seemed to be a ripoff. "Well if nothing was wrong with it then I'm not taking it off your ticket", well first I never asked for my money back, but yes you will take it off of my ticket. Then he tells me he cannot and that the server will have to pay for it. So I told him that he has a terrible company policy but that's not my problem. Give me my to go box so me and my family can leave. He still charge me for it. And I tipped the waitress $15 to make sure she didn't have to pay for it. Or how about another time I went there and they brought me a Porkchop instead of a sirloin. And then proceeded to tell me that it was pork and beef when I argued about it. The management here is a joke, I don't know if I've met somebody that had a lot of good things to say about this place. NO NEVER AGAIN! We went out with friends hoping to have a good time.....but ummmm NO! After ordering, we found out half of what we wanted..they were out of. So we ordered what they had in, which came with sides....but the girl charged us extra for each side - so that made no sense. AND the best part, when it came out - it was all wrong!!! I was delivered a rare steak that I was in no way ordered, not even close! And all of the sides were mixed among the plates - so my sides were on my friends plate, I had my hubby's sides and so one. I would not recommend this place because the management is the worst I have ever encountered, anywhere in the U.S. We are not locals, and we went in on a Friday evening for steaks. The manager AJ (he refused to tell us his last name) runs the place like a low-class bar. While we waited for a table, he insisted that we all stand up, even after we all ordered drinks. We asked him why, and he replied rudely that he was the manager and could not apologize for the rules...it was a pretty bizarre management approach for a steakhouse charging $27 for a steak. My parents raved about this restaurant, but it is clearly hit or miss. How can one place get as many one star as five star ratings? Unfortunately, we were there on a one star night... We arrived at 7:30 pm last Friday night and it was just filling up. One young lady came to get our drink order. Ten minutes later another lady brought some drinks. They may have been for a different table because only half of the drinks were right. A third lady came with two more drinks, but my son still did not get his Shiner at that point. A waitress came to take our order after we had been sitting for 20 minutes in a booth. We ordered the famous questoand chips along with nachos as appetizers. We ordered two steaks with the $5 seafood upgrades, three chicken fried steaks, and a seafood dish. Every dish comes with two sides. We also pointed out that we were still a beer short. A gentleman came by ten minutes later to ask us how things were going. We pointed out that we were still waiting on the Shiner. He promised to get it right away. Ten more minutes later our waitress brought a basket of warm bread and sweet butter. We asked her if we could have bread plates. We also asked if anyone was driving to the store to buy the Shiner Bock because my son still did not have his. We also pointed out that we had not received refills for our other drinks or waters. Twenty minutes later (we had been in our booth for an hour at this point) our waitress showed up with the nachos, chips, and cheese. We pointed out that we were still waiting for bread plates, which would help with the appetizers. We asked about the beer and refills as well. And while she was still standing there our entrees and half of our side dishes arrived! We had not even started our appetizers except for a single chip each! We immediately asked for a manager. My dad walked around looking for a manager. He found none. As he returned a young man came by and asked how things were going. We asked for the manager and he identified himself as the owner. We explained our situation in detail. He went to get the Shiner. He never returned. The gentleman who had come by once before brought the beer. We asked him to take away the appetizers. We told him we were still waiting for the rest of our sides. By then we were eating our steaks and seafood. The ribeyes were okay, the chicken fried steak was very tasty, but dry. The seafood and seafood sides (crab and shrimp) were humid like they were frozen and heated. The centers were cold on each. A lady came by and told us she was the owner. (It is a family.) We told her our story and she listened, but we had finished our entres and were still waiting for sides. We asked her for the check. We saw no one for the next ten minutes. Finally, the gentleman who we asked for the beer came with our check. They removed the appetizers we had not eaten and the drinks that were not refilled. We still paid over $100 for the most amazingly bad service we have ever recieved in any restaurant in our entire lives. From reading other Yelp reviews I don't think we had a unique experience. Please, eat somewhere else. read more

Do not pay $10 for the chicken fingers, you literally get three fingers and ranch. It was pathetic, a fast food place will do you better. They did not have much flavor either. Our server decided it was appropriate to hum songs while we were trying to give her our order. My tea had zero ice and when the food came for everyone, the server just asked us to raise our hand if the dish was ours she was yelling out. It was hectic with a party of 12 and that happening. $35 for two orders of chicken fingers and 2 teas. The chicken fingers were 3 to a plate and came with some boxed mac and cheese and frozen steamed veggies. I will not be coming back and making sure anyone I speak to does not either! read more
