Dinner at this place was a pleasant surprise. I have been to the uptown location and didn't enjoy it as much as the location in Edina. Wednesday evening was crowded. I got the bacon burger and a starter of the breaded chicken which was advertised as spicy. The chicken was crunchy but not spicy for my taste. We had to ask for additional hot sauce which the servers gladly provided. The burger was awesome, medium, good portions of bacon. Overall service was especially good, warm and welcoming. Parking can be tight especially at peak times so look in the neighborhood if you need to. read more

Came here for the patty melt and blended burger. Both of which came to be delicious! The food service here is pretty fast and the food was hot when it came out! The Blended burger is mushroom blended with the red cow grind which is 21 day aged ribeye chuck, short rib & brisket. Mushroom blended burgers are much stronger in taste and flavors compared to a traditional burger with caramelized mushrooms on the top. The Patty Melt - Huge portions and thick bread for the cheese melt. Highly recommend upgrading to the truffle -parmesan fries that comes with truffle aioli sauce. The truffle aioli sauce tastes much closer to a mayo sauce. The upgrade to truffle fries only $1.50. We sat at the burger to order food and service was top notch and fast. Red Cow is like the modern Chili's, but with much better food! They have a little bit of everything on the menu and all the food is approachable and very tasty. You can sit at the bar and watch the game or sit in the dining room and catch up with friends. It can really be whatever type of experience you want. It's family friendly but young and trendy at the same time-very versatile. The menu has lots of great options, but I'd say the cheese curds and the ahi crisps are cant miss items! Others that I frequently dine with would add the buffalo wings to that list. On the burger front, the double barrel is the star of the menu. Simple and delicious. They also have great non-hamburger options. For a while I'd consistently order the grilled chicken sandwich for something a little lighter. Then, they introduced the Tennessee hot chicken sandwich and that quickly became a favorite. If you're not looking for a burger or a sandwich, the fish tacos are good. Like I said in the beginning of the review, lots of choices here so there's something for everyone. If you're dining at Red Cow for brunch, the AM chimichanga and huevos rancheros are the way to go. I used to live in Madison, WI where cheese curds were ubiquitous, and these were as good as any I had there. The Patty Melt I ordered had a juicy burger surrounded by melty cheese and toasty bread, just like it should. I had them bring the onions on the side, as some places don't caramelize onions very well and I hate undercooked onions on burgers, but no worries here - the onions were a soft, sweet brown pile of delicious. First time at Red Cow! I got a seat on the patio in perfect minnesota weather with my friend. Appetizers: Wisconsin Cheese curds - beer battered served with triple berry ketchup. This sauce is different than any typical restaurant serving normal ketchup. It's way better because you can taste more berry than ketchup! Scotch eggs - these were served with a beer mustard dipping sauce. I am not a huge fan of mustard sauce but I must say the scotch eggs tasted delicious. It was a pretty hefty amount for me to eat as an appetizer but I'm they were delicious. Main course: Manhattan 2.0 burger: round chuck and short rib by world famous New York butcher Pat Lafrieda with bacon confit, Gruyere cheese, arugula and dried cherry-wine reduction toasted pretzel bun! Mouth watering and very much worth it. Seriously, that cherry sauce though..wow!! Better than ketchup for sure. 60/40 burger: my friend ordered this one and it tasted like your basic burger but cooked perfectly. 60% CAB burger and 40% ground bacon party, Wisconsin aged cheddar, beer mustard (not my favorite sauce), and bacon. Why go back to Tavern on France and Cowboy Jack's, when for not-so-far-away, you can get GREAT customer service AND delicious food! I ordered the beef and barley soup, and I could tell it was homemade. The crackers that came with it must have been as well, and they reminded me of Wheat Thins (in a good way!). For my lunch, I ordered the lamb burger with cream cheese and mint jelly, with a side of cole slaw. Again, this was all made in the restaurant and was absolutely mouth-watering. Great food - busy place! Seating is snug - I felt cramped. However, the food and prices were worth the tight quarters.

Super lively and very very loud (like rock concert loud or kids birthday party at the pool loud) but a great variety of innovative and creative burgers at very reasonable prices. After 2 tries we were finally able to sample this spot and its clear they are sill working a few bugs out of their operation. The front of the house folk don't really have a good idea about the wait times - quoted 30-40 min on a Thursday night at 7 p.m. and were seated in around 15 min. Also, the service is a bit uneven. Fortunately, the quality of the food is such that I believe they will be successful in this unlikely location. We tried the Spanish Burger - burger, manchego cheese, aioli and prosciutto which was very good. The fries are hot and tasty also. I also like that they offer a wide variety of wines by the glass as well as beers. Given the prices of the burgers - around $10-$12 they must be making all their income on the booze. "Ultimate experience" would be the words that best describe this place. As I walked in, I was greeted by very friendly staff who directed me to my favorite solo area; the bar! The decor was wooden, engaging, and inviting. I get like I was walking in the footsteps of first time travelers and regulars alike. It was a good feeling. As I sat at the bar I was welcomed by both bartenders and quickly asked if I wanted a food or drink menu or both. You might not think much of this small action, however, it's an indicator that they care about dialogue instead of just tossing menus at you. Here was the biggest item that won me over(among the many other things). My assigned dining staff facilitator....let's call him Z, asked me about apps and beer. I told him "this is my first time here". Without a second thought he transitioned into info/recommendation mode. Z went into the different beers and best/popular apps. His charisma sold me and I ordered a beer he recommended and the curds. Spot on. The curds were amazing. Light breading, delicious cheese, oddly not too heavy. I CRUSHED them. The point is that Z hopped on the opportunity to ensure my experience was the absolute best from the get go. As I was eating and watching TV, it seemed like Z got my attention at the perfect time because he recommended a specific burger that keeps winning competitions. I ordered it. I wasn't surprised by how delish it was. You all get the point. Z and the rest made my experience amazing. He knew and payed attention to me and those small actions made the biggest difference. We didn't really explore a whole lot of the menu, but from what we had and the vibe of the place, you can tell everything is spot on. I'm willing to go out on that limb. Simply put, the burgers we had were just as you'd expect them to be at a place that brags about burgers, rock star! I liked the pickles too. When I am at a place that has burgers they brag about, I always try to order whatever one they name after themselves, assuming that's gonna be the one they want me to try. My judgment led me to the classic double. Its easily in the top end of the list of "smash" or "smash-ish" burgers. I don't see how anyone can be disappointed in this burger. Having said that, we did go for the self named salad. It too was good, but slightly under dressed. That can be hit or miss, but if its normal, you've been officially warned to ask for some more dressing on the side. My daughter gave the mac and cheese a thumbs up and also liked the bday cake shake more than I did. It was ok, but sprinkles ruin cake and ice cream for me. This time they ruined both at the same time! Yes, I still drank it. And then........ my daughters head exploded. They came by all the tables with kids and dropped off donuts. 'Nuff said. This restaurant will not disappoint! They have supped up burgers, and use high quality meat and ingredients. I suggest starting off with one or more of their delicious appetizers. Go for the cheese curds or the short rib, beer cheese poutine. The poutine is a skillet pan loaded with French fries, then topped with tender meat and beer cheese goodness. I think the vegetarian burger here is tasty, but it's always offered on the menu. So, if I am feeling adventurous, I will order the burger of the month. The last one had to be my favorite. It had some sort of apricot glaze and veggies on top of the Angus burger. (I am not doing it justice and forget the exact details of the burger!) The servers usually do a great job of explaining in better detail the specials. They have a wonderful happy hour and large bar loaded with many local brews and wines! We were here for a work dinner, about twenty of us. They set us up at a table along the back wall, and the feel of this place was ultra cool and kinda hip. First and foremost, great service can make okay food taste better... true story. Here, they had great service AND great burgers... oh and a great selection of beer. So I am not going to go into what everyone had at the table, because quite frankly I can't remember. What I had was the French Onion Burger and O-M-G it was good, no great! I was on the fence about the chive sour cream part but it sure did pull everything together for this burger. Super scrumptious. The fries that come with are delicious and seasoned which is a nice addition to the meal. Our server gave us recommendations on the beer and offered to give me samples when I couldn't decide. There is a decent selection of nice brews to choose from. We got lucky and scored a place in their outdoor patio on Friday night but got there before 6 PM to beat the crowd and on time to get happy hour beers and the ahi tuna crisp appetizer which I also highly recommend! In the world of a pandemic, I used a delivery service for take out. It was my normal order of the 60/40 which is 60% CAB & 40% ground bacon patty, Wisconsin Cheddar, beer mustard, & bacon. It was great as always - though the fries do not travel well. I wish I could have substituted the cheese curds for the fries (even with an up charge it would be worth it), but that is not an option and the burger, fries, and curds would be too much food.
