We're staying at the hotel next door to this restaurant and it was suggested to try dinner there because they were a good steakhouse. I can tell you right now this is not a good steak house it is a cookie cutter corporate restaurant. Here's just a quick list of what I found wrong, bartending service slow, bartending service not friendly, meal overpriced, steak bland with no flavor, very noisy, and bad seevice refilling drinks. Regarding Take-Out Orders - they charge for Containers, so if you don't want to pay extra, Call Outback Steakhouse. Thus is what I found out when I called to place an order. We go to this location frequently, but didn't know that take out is "extra". I always have a take-out box leftovers when we leave plus we usually order their Carrot Cake to eat later for dessert. This has kinda put a bad feeling regarding Saltgrass. Now I do not know if ALL locations charge for Take-out, but this is the one we are closet to. We've been here before, it was good, staff was always good. It was this time too, except. My husband ordered a particular item, it was $19.99 for that cut, however it was not available, waitress made another suggestion of a different cut, we had already given our menus back. Thx meat did not have much flavor. When we received our bill, that so-so steak was $24.00- not too comparable. What a disappointment. This review is not about the food because Salt Grass is pretty much the same wherever you have it, so if you like it you just do. This review is just about the current management. I was attempting to make arrangement for my upcoming rehearsal dinner and the management was very difficult to work with. I was informed that my reservation would not guarantee shorter wait time and even more illogical, the reservation wouldn't guarantee that the party would be seated together. Essentially, there would be no reason to make a reservation because it would guarantee nothing! It seems as if the manager was trying to bully me into reserving a private room for my party by being extremely difficult. So even though Saltgrass is the same everywhere, as far as tastebuds go, I will never patronize the Plano location again. read more

Saltgrass Steakhouse I am very picky about my steaks, not because I am very knowledgeable about them but steaks generally don't appeal to me. I view it as just the same taste over and over. Although that being said I have had a couple of steaks at various restaurants that each bite was so flavorful this suddenly seemed like a meaningless problem. We went to Saltgrass for one of my cousins birthdays so there was about 7 of us at the table. We didn't order an appetizers but they provide bread for you to snack on so off course I took some of that. The bread was really warm and fluffy so we devoured both baskets and the additional two they provided. All of us then ordered our dishes from various types of cooks such as medium to rare, etc. I had the Texas T-Bone and unfortunately it did not match the description at all of being one of the Great Steak of Texas. Multiple people on the table took a bite of mine and we all came to the consensus that it was very dry and had nearly no flavor to every bite. I hat gotten it medium as I normally get all my steaks and was thoroughly unimpressed. I also had the sweet potato fries as my side and literally some of them were burnt so let's say I didn't really eat that many of them. On the other hand, my sister had the Pat's Ribeye and I tried that and it was much better. She had gotten it medium as well but there was just a lot more flavor and the tenderness was just right. Finally my brother had gotten the Steak K-Bomb and I would say among all the dishes I had tried this was my favorite. He also had the mac n cheese as one of his sides and although being super cheesy as you would expect it still tasted phenomenal. This particular Saltgrass has been my wife's and mine favorite of all the Saltgrass' we have eaten at throughout the Metroplex. We always get great service and great food here. We have been going to Saltgrass for over 5 years and have a VIP membership. Tonight we went and had a horrible experience. After being seated we had to ask for silverware. My husband placed an order for a martini on the rocks and the bartenders had to come out to find out what he wanted because our waitress was so confused. The problems of the meal continued when I didn't receive the salad that I ordered. I asked for a Cabernet with my dinner and the waitress couldn't remember the order and hand do come back to check. The worse part is that when we spoke to the manager he was not responsive even after we told him that we were part of the VIP program. I've been coming to this Saltgrass for about a decade now. Over ten years, you see a lot of faces come and go, but the food remains consistently the same -- and consistently fantastic! The servers quickly take note if you're a repeat customer, and I'm constantly treated like a king. The bartenders remember you even when you think they shouldn't -- I 'forgot' about the place for six months once, and was still greeted by name and with a smile and my preferred drink upon walking in the door! I really can't say enough about this particular Saltgrass. I've been to others, and they aren't bad, but this location is something special. Give it a try, you won't regret it. One word of caution, there's several Churches nearby, so you might have a hard time getting a table around noon on a Sunday. Even then, however, the wait is usually only a few minutes, and the bar is typically free. If you haven't tried the Chicken Tortilla Soup, DO SO! You won't regret it. It's not like any other Chicken Tortilla Soup I've ever had -- and this is coming from a guy who's made it his retirement dream to sample the best Tortilla Soups from around the country (nay, the world!). (Yeah, I have silly goals, but that's neither here nor there.) And of course, the free Shiner Bock Beer Bread and Sweetbutter is AMAZING, and will be the supplemental staple of whatever you do decide to order. Be prepared to enjoy! read more

Horrible service!!! We are Landry Select Club members. Checked in at 7:03 were told it would be a 30min wait after showing them our Landry's card. We were seated at 8:04 and dinner finally arrived at the table at 8:54pm. 3 out of 4 dinners arrived Luke warm. Worst experience we have had at a Saltgrass. Our waiter apologized for the delay. 3 stars in "A-OK" and it was. Mr Muscle said it was one of the very best steaks he had tasted. Wow, that's something. We ordered the 24 oz ribeye; sent it back as it was slightly too bloody for him. But it was delicious! Well seasoned, well-marbled. House salad was ice-cold, which made it top notch. We ordered a side of fried shrimp for $6.99 - not a good deal, we only got 4.5 shrimp (don't ask how you get a half a shrimp!)(should have been 6) and they were cold. But the cocktail sauce was awesome!! The onion straws were also slightly undercooked and cold. Not sure why all the food is served at less than perfect temperature. The place was hopping - so it should have been piping hot. Hmmm.. FYI, steak fries are NOT fries, they are chucks of potato - good but not fries at all. Why are they still "A-OK"?? Staff was amazing - extremely attentive even though they work the team waiter system and our waitress was a little lacking - her co-workers really stepped up. And finally, see above. We typically go to the McKinney Saltgrass, which is outstanding, but this was on our way home from an event in Grand Prairie and we hadn't had lunch so we stopped here for an early dinner at around 4:30 on a Sunday. The place was pretty empty. The first problem was there was no silverware available. I overheard one of the servers saying the earlier shift bolted without preparing the silverware. My salad didn't fill the bottom of the bowl it was so small. And the filet was bland and just mediocre. Poorly seasoned. Maybe the McKinney location just overachieved and our expectations for Saltgrass are too high, but this location was just disappointing. And a general note for the parent company. I'm a member of the Landry's Select Club and clearly the manager of the restaurant loathes the job of coming to the table to let the customer know they've received their reward points. They always appear as if this is the most painful experience and it's awkward for everyone. Just have the servers do it. read more

Great food and service. Our server even got us a sling to put our newborn car seat in. The chicken fried steak lunch cut was ample in proportion and the French fried onions were delicious. The sweet potato fries were also a hit. Ordered the seafood fondeaux which was great but they forgot to bring it out before our main course so the manger paid for it. Now that is customer service. As Good As It Gets. started off with the Chicken Tortilla soup, good stuff. Followed that with the Beef Enbrochette which consist of Grilled Beef Tenderloin with sliced Jalapeno wrapped in Bacon with BBQ sauce. so so good. My lunch entree was the very delicious and very tasty Tenderloin Tips, beef tips sauteed in a cognac pepper sauce with mushrooms atop garlic mash potatoes. This is a must visit place. Service was excellent, food was great! Francisco, our server was very good and even took the time to box our food up. I have to point out who I am assuming was the GM "Greg". There had to be 80 people here and he not only was the first to greet, but also checked on my drink twice through the night. I walked to the bathroom and he backtracked to open the door for me. The guy was all over the dang place making sure all his guests were good. You just dont see that anymore. Always great service. Great food. Good atmosphere in a convenient location. Quality food. Its quite a pricey restaurant though.

The place is well decorated and unsurprisingly has a Texas ranch theme going. Lots of wooden floors and old timey feeling decorations. The food is pretty good and the portions are pretty big. The dish I ordered also had some sort of horseradish type dip on the side which was a pleasant surprise. The steaks are kind of average at best though. read more

I felt like we waited forever for drinks, for him to check on us after the food, for the check, then to get our credit cards back.
