My experience here was just OK. First off, let me explain that I am VERY annoyed with the front desk because they labeled me as a no show with Open Table even though my husband and I promptly showed up at 6:30. In fact, when I said I had a reservation, she greeted me by my name because I clearly wasn't Richard, the other person who had a reservation at the same time. We were seated upstairs and it is a fairly intimate setting. An unusable fireplace with drippy candles, seats close together and a dark room. I will say that the walls are battleship gray and could be painted a different color for better ambience. The menu: Seaworthy has a very good selection of oysters that include varieties from the east coast, west coast and locally sourced. I ordered a couple from the west coast and they were both yummy and very reasonably priced. The wine list and cocktail menus are very impressive. It is difficult to choose. My husband ordered the redfish and I ordered the swordfish. The fish was well-prepared, as were the accompanying vegetables. The menu is a little selfish heavy and could use a better selection of fish options. We did receive an appetizer that we didn't order but I believe that was a misunderstanding. I was totally bummed about the desserts. The dessert menu online had me very excited but it recently changed to a couple of very lackluster options. I don't want to finish a meal with two choices of ice cream. And they were out of one of the options. Service was very good and attentive. Our server explained the menu well and food arrived at the table at well-timed intervals. In sum, it is a great place for oysters and cocktails. Wow, what a vibe! This place is probably one of the cutest inside. We had a reservation on a Sunday evening + we're sat immediately after showing our ID's and vaccine cards. They have several cocktails to choose from with all of them being very unique. The food choices were out of this world. I ended up ordering the lobster roll and I am so glad I did. Yeah, a real winner. Seaworthy has a great menu that'll appeal to plenty of diners. The raw bar really stands out, and all the accouterments play well with others. The bartending staff is stellar and clearly the team in the kitchen has their act together. I'd be hard pressed to find something I wasn't excited about. Let me start by saying the oysters were good. But the restaurant was so/so. It isn't very pretty. The host has a terrible attitude. When we walked in we said it was a friends birthday and he very patronizingly told me they are a fine dining establishment and don't celebrate birthdays. So I was so excited to try this place because I saw an article on Eater that recommended them as a good gluten free place and I saw they had a flaming drink called Holy Water. My husband and I happened to already be at the hotel for a Mezcal event for Agave week so it seemed like the stars were perfectly aligned for a great meal. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. We got there and they asked if we would be ok if we sat at the bar, which we said was ok but was probably our biggest mistake of the evening. The service at the bar is usually much better, but the bartenders did not want to be there. I know this because they talked about it loudly all evening, which was very off putting and unprofessional. I of course ordered the Holy Water and my husband ordered a Sazarac. The drinks were good, but then the bartenders ghosted for at least 15 minutes even though we had told them we wanted to order food. They finally came back and we placed our food orders. I also ordered some coffee because I knew based on our experience so far that it would be awhile before they brought it. We waited at least another 20 minutes for our food to show up before my husband asked how much longer it would be. They said the would check on it and 10 minutes later they brought out our food. I ordered the flat iron steak, which was undercooked but had a good flavor. The fried Brussels sprouts were amazing (my husband doesn't even like Brussels sprouts and he kept eating them). My husband got the burger, which he said was ok but he really like dill pickle fries. Our coffee finally showed up after my husband asked for it again and we were almost done with our meal. The coffee was nice and strong which was good. In a nutshell, the service totally ruined my experience here. The food and drinks were pretty good but it took way too long to get everything, there was no attentiveness to us as customers and the outright complaint about working in front of customers is just totally unprofessional. read more

I decided to try this place out the day before Valentine's Day. I made the booking via open table and was surprised there was seating available. The booking was for 6pm and when we arrived was immediately seated upstairs. I must admit the decor and ambience is quite romantic. ( lights low, etc) . It was my hubby and I and one other couple upstairs. So pretty empty. But it was early so maybe it would fill up. Our waiter was super super attentive and was very knowledgeable about the menu. I tried their house ginger beer - which I really liked because it was not sweet. For appetizers I had the crab claws and hubby had the fresh oysters. Crab claws were ok, oysters were nice and fresh. ( we decided on half a dozen mixed oysters). For entrees I had the redfish and hubby had the sword fish. We ordered a side of fries as well. The red fish was nice, sword fish was nice. Fries....... tasty! For dessert we shared the strawberry dessert. ( good recommendation by the waiter). The dessert was delicious. So why only 3 stars? Love this place! They have a regular happy hour from 4-6 and a reverse happy hour 11-1 (no oyster deals on the late night menu). Went twice here during my stay. It's a sharp little spot next to the Ace Hotel. Excellent cocktails as well. VERY good quality of oysters from the gulf and from elsewhere. Other items consumed there were squid ink hush puppies (pretty unique!) and Brussels sprouts with bacon-maple jam/sherry vinegar. Really nice balance and contrast there! Seaworthy was one of our top choices for fresh oysters when we visited New Orleans recently. What's great about this spot is that they have a Late Night Specials Menu from 11:00 pm - 1:00 am that's not displayed on their site, as well as a huge variety of oysters to choose from. Plus, they were one of the few restaurants that were open till 2:00 am! Initially, we had stopped by during our first night in NOLA to meet up with friends, but was turned away around 12:30 am because the host for that night stated that the kitchen was closed - no food will be served - and no seats were available. We saw that there were a couple of seats open at the bar. After we had left, we noticed she had actually turned a lot of folks after us away. She probably wanted to ensure that she goes home on time. We decided to give this spot a second try. Service upon our second visit was wonderful. Got seats at the bar. Got to sample a variety of small dishes and shared a dozen Massacre Island oysters from Dauphin Island. My husband has a severe seafood allergy, but always tries to accommodate my love for it. The staff here was extremely accommodating !! First they said yeah.... Probably not the best restaurant for you. But when my amazing hubby said he would be fine with the burger, the chef personally came out and talked with him, and all of the staff acknowledged that they were taking special care. Truly Didn't think it the bomb, and confirmed such sentiments after my local cousin took us to a true bomb, Luke, a few days later. They even had a similar fried Brussels sprouts and Luke had the far better take on the dish. Seafood was fresher and cheaper at Luke, other dishes were presented better, the atmosphere was better, overall, everything was better. Still, if you want to get er done, as in down and dirty grub when your employer is picking up the tab, and it is late, and drinks are in order, head over to Seaworthy because it's walking distance to your hotel, and you don't want to venture too far on your first night in the Big Easy. I ordered the Sherman's Cup to start, which was very tasty and sweet, but not much of a kick liquor-wise. I tried the Punch next, which was fantastic. They also have super fresh oysters. We also ordered the Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and Gulf Shrimp from the Chilled & Cured section, which were 3 for $28. The Gulf Shrimp definitely packed the most flavor, but they were all delicious. Lastly, we ordered the Mussels and Fries, and both were delicious. I couldn't get enough of the broth the mussels came with! The service was also very friendly and attentive. I walked in on a TUESDAY afternoon at 4 pm, not another customer on site. Upon opening the door, I had my two year old daughter with me, the host looked at us and said, "what do you want?" I simply asked if they had a table available for a cocktail and some food when he proceeded to look and point at my daughter and say, "well she's not welcome here. You can order a to-go and just stand outside." I'm sorry, but there are MUCH nicer and more appropriate ways to say that an establishment is not kid friendly. We were famished after spending all day at the WWII Museum and thought we'd give this a try. We didn't have reservations but fortunately, the host was able to accommodate us. We sat upstairs and I found it to be unnecessarily chilly but I'm probably in the minority on this one as patrons are probably looking for some reprieve from the rising Nola temperatures. I couldn't quite place my finger on the ambience or vibe of this place but overall, our meal here was fine. We enjoyed some happy hour oysters - my husband asked our server to select the half dozen on his behalf -- some of them were really tiny but this was included on their description on the menu so consider yourself warned. We also enjoyed the shishito peppers which was the best rendition of this dish I've ever had. We also got the crab meat dip; I didn't realize it was a warm dip but it was absolutely delicious. For our 'main', we split the crawfish roll that came with a heaping pile of fries. I absolutely love crawfish but I don't think I loved the celery in it as much; my husband thoroughly enjoyed it this though. Service was adequate, not very warm or memorable, but appropriate. If you're looking for really good oyster bar in New Orleans, give this place a visit. Under the Ace hotel next to Josephine Estelle (another really good bar/restaurant). We started out with 2 dozen oyster and they were delicious. Clean, fresh and smooth. It came with a few sauces and vinegar and lemons. Which all I thought complimented very well. I don't remember what they were busy it could be seasonal and change often. We ordered the Redfish which was on the half shell, chili butter, roasted new potatoes, mustard frill, satsuma vinaigrette. Super hearty and very flakey fish. We also shared the Black Drum which has roasted black drum, sauteed sweet corn, field peas, green onion, miso, oyster flower capers bacon, salsa verde. Very hearty and delicious as well. Everything came together. One note is that this place is kind of small. Think of it as more of a bar that serves food. Very intimate and dark. The food was well below average. We had to send scallops back because they smelled like fish and were warm. The cured cobia was weirdly chewy/tough and tasted very fishy. The ceviche was fine, albeit very bland. We thought the raw section in the kitchen might just be having an off day. Sadly not, the grits were swimming in oil and the prawns were not remotely close to fresh. The whole thing tasted like fish, almost like the grits had been cooked in fish stock. They were also lumpy, as if they had been cooked, cooled and congealed, and the reheated in a microwave. It's also an oyster bar that had...two oysters available. Two. (We had one type from PEI, and they were very good, though frankly it's saying something that the best thing we ate was literally the thing the kitchen did the least to). Austin, our server, was very nice and accommodating - it's disappointing the kitchen put him in a position where he had to bring out such genuinely shitty food. He comped a glass of wine and also the worst of the dishes, even though we had said not to. The table next to us got burgers, which looked decent. They have a "patio", but that's charitable - it's essentially a service alleyway. It's nice enough, but they could do a bit more to make it feel less like a dingy alley. read more

What shocked us was all of the extra taxes about an additional $25 worth of tax including kitchen tax and that was a shocker because we went to almost all high-end restaurants and none charged us a ski bill as this place did.
