After years of only providing the 'Shroom Burger as their sole vegetarian (and not vegan) option, Shake Shack finally released their Veggie Shack, which can be made vegan by subbing your buns to gluten-free buns! So that's exactly what I got (and fries, of course), and my husband ordered the Shack Stack with Cheese Fries. As a first-timer at Shake Shack, my husband did not realize that they had accidentally served him the wrong burger (ShackBurger) until the employees corrected themselves and got him the right one soon after. Unintentionally having tried two burgers, my husband liked how both beef patties had a pleasant smokey aroma, and the ShackBurger, in particular, paired well with the cheese. But his favorite was the Shack Stack, which he found to be superior to even the other burgers from different big joints he's tried. As for me, I enjoyed my Veggie Shack as well--the patty wasn't like the Impossible or Beyond Burger patties that you can fool non-vegans with. Instead, it was clearly a veggie patty with visible bits of carrots, whole edamames, and other greens. But even as a junk vegan, I think that their veggie patty was good because the real vegetables gave a nice bite to the burger. When placing an order in the app (for 4 hungry people, so not simple), it errored out and completely lost the order each time, once AFTER it took my money. They immediately told me they'd refund via an email, but I had to start the order over. Both of those were delivery, so I gave up on that and ordered pick up. Finally it worked, but at no time did it accept the 2 for 1 coupon on their site, even though I had at least 2 Shack Burgers in my cart. So I'm paying full price. So that should be the end of it, right? WRONG. When I get to the store, all of the drinks and half the fry orders are missing. The employee shows me the paper receipt which did not have those. I showed her the e-receipt that did, so she went and got the drinks. She didn't get the fries because I didn't go item by item down the very long receipt to check. I was too hungry and rushed. After watching a YouTube video about this restaurant, I made a 30 minute trip to try it for myself. I was not disappointed. I got the Shroom Burger which was a portobello mushroom, filled with cheese, battered then fried. Amazing!! I also grabbed the cheese fries. If it had one flaw it was that only the top had cheese. I had wondered why there was ketchup in the bag, it's for the bottom fries. Finally I grabbed a chocolate pudding shake. I was slightly disappointed as it tasted just like any chocolate shake. First time here. Heard rave reviews and had to check it out. Nothing fancy about it. Menu reminds me of Five Guys when I walked in. I Angus burgers so the meat is really good. I like how they donate a % of a profit to the dog shelter here I think it's when u buy a certain shake. But regardless awesome! Fries are nice and crispy none of that lumpy McDs fries. Would highly recommend! I came for lunch around 12:30 on a weekday. It was pretty busy, but the line went fast and the food came out fairly quickly. We had to wait outside for a little since all the tables inside were taken, but honestly the outdoor seating was well shaded and quite comfortable. The Shackburger was really tasty! The flavors of the beef, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and sauce added together perfectly, and the bun was warm and soft. The fries were firm but not hard, and the texture was really good. Opening day of shake shack and surprisingly, lots of people are hustling and bustling to visit and get their burger fix! Shake shack is located in the Macy's parking lot in between Arhaus and Dicks sporting goods. We were greeted with a friendly employee who handed us some menus and then some free swag, sweat bands and sunglasses anyone?! The line when we went around 6:30-7pm dinner time wasn't that bad and we settled on what we wanted to chow on and ordered! Got myself the classic shack burger and fries with a caramel shake and husband got the hamburger with peanut butter shake. Peanut butter shake wins hands down! They hand you a buzzer after you pay while you wait for your food to be cooked and once ready take it back to the counter to exchange for your foods! We waited 10-15 minutes approximately. Several people working there checked in on us to make sure everything was great, saw several cute dogs on the patio outdoors, so dog friendly!! There is the water and condiments and utensil station and then abundant seating all around. For our first visit and on opening day, they've got the flow down, no sweat! Awesome! This was my first time at the new Shake Shack at Domain and absolutely loved it. The. Best part was they had leather covers for the door handles, no static shock while you open the door, so thoughtful. The staff is super friendly and the ambience is very cozy. It was cold so couldn't sit outside but I'm waiting for warmer season to head back to this location. The food was Great, absolutely loved the hot cheese fries. I got the smokeshack single patty with bacon and red peppers. There was a good amount of bacon and red peppers. I liked the somewhat grilled peppers as a topping, gives a balance to the greasiness of the burger. Good burger, but wasnt something that I would crave to go back and get. Cheese fries are your normal crinkle cut fries. The uchi concrete, I've never had frozen custard so I didn't know what to expect. Really smooth and creamy. I wouldn't get the custard by itself though, would be too sweet, just my opinion. The uchi concrete has the kinda tart berries to balance the sweetness. Small, nice dessert to end the meal. Never before have I been so conflicted on what to give a burger place. I should be high-fiving this place to everyone I know on Yelp, and yet I can't. Follow my Shake Shack (SS) mini-adventure and you'll see what I mean. SS is visually pleasing from the get-go. Despite the downscale name, it's housed in an avant-garde glass and metal cube at the edge of The Domain. In fact, they have a clever sign out front showing where your dog is welcome. Ordering is pretty straightforward though the service is somewhat slow, considering that there were only a couple people ahead of me in line. On top of that, the temp control inside is off - in some spots weirdly hot. Maybe just the placement of the vents? They're definitely aiming for something more upscale, as they use metallic trays like Hopdoddy's. As for the food...it's actually pretty good. The burgers are above average, as in a P.Terry's kicked up a tiny bit. The Chick 'N Shack is also surprisingly good, with a slightly darker batter coating, likely from a little extra frying. The fries are heavenly, a 'crinkle cut' masterpiece with a crunch and burst of potato flavor that will likely lure me back again. (Though some will call 'heresy', I didn't have the stomach room for the shakes.) So why the three stars? Two reasons. First, while the food is good, it's priced completely out of its league. For example, the chicken sandwich and burger are a jot better in quality than Chick-Fil-A and P.Terrys. But they're both close to double in price. Second, there's definitely an air of parsimony around the food here. Now, I'm of the opinion that we Americans expect too much on the volume side of things - not everything can be $5 for a trough of food! And if you look at my reviews, you'll immediately note that I'm the kind of food fanatic who'll pay $20/pound for properly cooked beef brisket. But there is such a thing as a proper price ratio. Both burger and chicken sandwich, while good, are 50% more in price, and about a third smaller. Hopdoddy's pricing for burgers while getting the Kid's Meal in portion size...it's not happening. I think the soda thing is what broke the camel's back for me. The cup's half the size of a large at a Mickey D's and still costs almost $3. Yes, you get refills...but since they hide the soda machine behind the counter, you have to stand and wait for the busy staff to notice you and get the refill for you. Yes, I know they make you do this at Chick-Fil-A too, but a) you don't have to do this most of the time, since they gave you a decent-sized drink to begin with, and b) they're better staffed, so there's usually no wait. Also, consider that this isn't some gourmet soda like a Maine Root we're talking about for $3. I'll pay that to get refills on my own of a Maine Root Ginger Beer. Add it all up...will you like it here? It really depends on one thing: do you consider The Domain a ridiculously pricey place to shop unless something's on sale? Or, do you consider The Domain a perfectly fine place to drop some coin, after all they have Ferragamo loafers and an electric go-cart to drop one back at one's Lexus. If you're of the former group, skip it. If you're of the latter group, go for it! Average it all together, and I'll give it a 3 on 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. I've been eating at Shake Shacks for at least 10 years now, which this love and fascination first started in NYC. When I moved to the West Coast I was sad cause at the time, Shake Shack was only on the East Coast but that goodness they came to their senses. So I was able to enjoy Shake Shack as I continued my life journey in Seattle, San Francisco and now Austin, Texas. I just don't know what I would do without my Shake Shack. Now I have one I can conveniently go to at the Domain. I really enjoy this location, cause I always know that I am going to get the best quality food and service. The out side tables and chairs could use a wipe down ever so often cause lots of kids and birds come through there but other than that, everything is always great. I also ordered ahead of time through the app and my food was made on time and my shake was not made till I arrived which I appreciated. No one likes a melted shake. I was pretty excited to try out Shake Shack because of the east coast hype, but I don't think it lived up to the hype. The menu is pretty extensive with almost half devoted to sweet concoctions and drinks. We ordered the shack burgers, fries, mango lemonade, and the uchi koncrete. I would say as a whole the food is good but the portions and price are not correlated. One shack burger is roughly $5 and as a whole meal between two people would cost you about $20+. It would be hard to get full off one burger alone. The mango lemonade is very sour and the uchi koncrete is albeit good, but on the sweeter side with the cake bits. Overall, the burger was good but I'm not sure if it was worth it. I read that the fries are frozen instead of fresh so I was a little disappointed. The store setting is very nice though, very spacious with TV and outdoor seating. They have beer and wine available to pair with your meal and treats for your furry friends. In short, the Shake Shack was a great choice to combat the booze still coursing through us. I got a double patty with cheese, regular crinkly fries, and seeing this was the SHAKE shack and I love me some milkshakes, I had to get a shake, too. Ordering was quick and easy. We were able to beat a rush - long lines are common here according to the locals. Got a buzzer and waited about 10-12 minutes for the food to come out. The meat definitely tasted nice and fresh, and same goes for the vegetables. In terms of overall taste, I can't say it was the absolute tastiest burger I've had in recent memory, but it was definitely above average. If anything, I'd say a slight bit much on the cheese, took away from the flavor of the meat. The fries were good - I like crinkle cut - but nothing too memorable. The shake however - dreamy. One of the best shakes I've had in a long time. Perfect consistency (hate when they are too thick or runny) and beyond delicious. Makes me wish they had some locations in California near me. There was ample seating, both inside and on the patio. It was too hot to sit outside, and the inside temp was just right. There were quite a few TVs to watch the NFL too. I been here a couple times and I have to say they've been consistent with food quality and service. I like the indoor atmosphere a lot and the TVs so I can watch my NBA playoff games. The ShackBurger is really good not the best burger ever, but the quality is really good. This is a great value in my opinion especially since it comes hormones and antibiotics free and the bun is GMO. The Chick'n Shack is really delicious and definitely a flavorful tasting sandwich. I wish it was bugger for the price, but the quality makes up for it. The fries are good too not the crispiest, but far from soggy, those can be more plentiful but hey they come with no artificial ingredients as potatoes should be served! The whole package as far as food and ambiance comes together really well. There's ample parking and no line out the door in off peak times compared to what I hear about the south Austin location. Bout time I visit a Shake Shack! I've been disappointed before by the In-N-Out hype, so I was a bit on-guard walking in. I actually didn't know this Domain location just opened this week, so I was expecting a long line out the door. We walked in a bit before 1, and it actually only took a few minutes from the back of the line to the counter. Nice! Grabbing a seat is another ordeal, though. There was definitely more groups of people than there are tables. But it takes a bit for the food to get to you, so plenty of time for one to open up. I ordered the Roadside Shack burger and the crinkle fries. The Roadside Shack burger is a limited edition burger, so not sure how long it'll be on their menu. It's a cheeseburger topped with caramelized onions simmered in beer and bacon. Also, it's pretty delicious. The buns are lightly coated with butter that is easily picked up by your taste buds. The cheese holds the entire burger together so the little bits aren't falling off the sides. And the patty gets a bit pink down in the center, which helps with the texture. Overall, a solid tasting burger! Compared with other burger places around Austin, Shake Shack has one of the good ones. Also the Crinkle Fries. They came out finger-burning HOT. And so so crispy. You can't pass on these fries. We also got the Uchi-Koncrete. By the way, there's a separate line just for desserts and drinks, so no need to order those with your burgers. Our first impression is confusion as to why there's a crater right in the middle of our concrete. Am I getting gypped? I really wished I asked someone why it's there. Anyways, the concrete is pretty good. A different consistency than ice cream or froyo, and the flavors is definitely good, especially with the blondie. I can't see myself craving for one though. Overall, the meal was pretty good. However, it's a bit on the expensive side, especially seeing that the size of the burger is relatively small, around the size of a McDonalds burger. The burgers were tasty but small for the price. My friend ate his burger and had to go back for a second one in the same sitting because it wasn't enough at first. I really liked the fries though! They are a bit thicker than the fries you find at fast food places so there is more potato in each bite. Tip: if you want to save on the plastic condiment containers, just pour ketchup directly onto the paper that covers the tray. read more

This is not my first time here and the last few times I've had Shake Shack I've always had their burgers which I have no complaints about besides the size. I wanted to try something different and decided to order their hot dogs. The cashier recommended the Shack-cago dog but to substitute the regular dog to the chicken dog. Honestly I was disappointed. My first experience with Shake Shack was earlier this year in Las Vegas. After eating there, the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. I actually started to love it. Before long, I was even letting it creep into the special part of my heart reserved for In N Out. Then I pushed it back out. But seriously, since then, I've been DYING to go back. I've read a lot about Shake Shack's beginnings, its model, and its IPO. Lastly, and most importantly, I read about its expansion. So, it will come as no surprise that when hitting Austin city limits for our annual F1 mecca, the first place on our menu of food joints was: Shake Shack. Before even arriving at the counter, it hit me that I really had a problem. That's because I had enough Shack swag in my hands to outfit a small country. I decided on a Smoke Shack and cheese fries, and went back for a lovely custard caramel concrete. And more swag. I'll keep it simple: the food here is the bomb. A BIG the bomb. I want one of these. REALLY close to my house. The burger had INSANELY smoked bacon on it - like, mouthful of smoke. And, it just...melded. The fries - crinkle cut and smothered in gooey cheese, and served with the cutest little wooden "fork" of sorts. The concrete was chock-full of yummy candy, burst into smooth, soft custard. This location and facility ooze and drip with hip, casual style. There's an uber-relaxed vibe. TVs were on inside with the World Series showing one one, and 2016 Election B.S. on the other. There's also a gorgeous outdoor seating area. I'm full of jealous hatred at Austin for having not one, but TWO of these incredible little...Shake Shacks.
