Firstly, this restaurant has great service. The entire staff was attentive. They made sure drinks were always filled and gave house dumplings. I went to visit about two weeks ago with my mother and I had a craving for black bean noodles. I thought the food was ehh okay. House Dumplings - They were good just regular tasting dumplings. Vegetable Dumplings (Fried) - I thought these dumplings were delish. I would recommend these if you do try this restaurant. Jja Jang Myun - I was a tab bit disappointment with these noodles. It is my absolute favorite dish so maybe my standards are a little high. I thought the noodles were overcooked and the sauce was a bit basic. Fried Rice - The fried rice was average. It wasn't bad. OK Chinese food. Gets the job done late at night but you'll feel the hangover in the morning. I really want to like the food here - the menu items sounded good but the food was below average. Noodles were a gloopy mess and the Mapao tofu was devoid of flavor & spice. Steamed vegetable dumplings were not good. It's cheap, but so too are the ingredients. I feel like the restaurant has a lot of potential though - we really need a good late night Chinese take-out/delivery spot in the neighborhood. This is located in the middle of K-Town close to Macy's. We were there for a late dinner. This place is open 24/7 and serves variety of Korean Chinese food. I believe their owner changed as the taste of food changed. Service was fine but food did come out really late though. They have specials. Combo a or combo B for $18. Which is a good deal. If you Are not starving, you can share with two people. I've got my favorite jajangmyeon, jjampong, and tangsuyuk combo, combo B. Noodles were good. But tangsuyuk has a lot more breading than the meat itself. I will come back to this place since it's close to time square and food isn't bad. Service was slow. I always thought Queens had the best Korean food compared to the city but boy, was I wrong. Hands down the best black bean noodle and seafood noodle soup I've ever had. I come here for very specific dishes and that is the Korean-Chinese food - black bean noodle (jajangmyeon) and sweet and sour pork or chicken (tangsuyook). Another classic is the spicy seafood noodle soup (jjamppong) which I will opt for on a cold winter day. You can't beat this combo here with portion sizes so big that you can share this with someone else or be a fatty and have it all to yourself. Typically one noodle per person and the tangsuyook is the way to go with leftovers for later. I wouldn't recommend having the soup noodles for later because they usually absorb all the liquid and get super inflated. Service here is amazing. The staff is super friendly and I have yet to have a bad experience. Haven't came here for late night grubs, but I have had a few friends that did and still rave about it! read more

Just an update about Opera Night - apparently, they had stopped Opera Night for a while and have just resumed it on Wednesday Nights, but it sounds like they don't necessarily have singers every Wed night (just live music). We had a very good dining experience here with the family. We chose the outdoor patio seating on a relatively cold day since we had a pet along. The hostess made sure we were warm and comfortable and even got a water cup and a cushion for our pet. We ordered the spicy vegetable noodles, vegetable dumplings, spring rolls and pad Thai all of it tasted good and not too greasy or heavy. Lulled by the chef/barker at the door as well as a 400X enlargement of a NYT (not Pete Wells) review on the window, we veered right and came on in. The guy working the stoop swiftly scurried to the kitchen after handing us off to the pleatherette-jacketed maître d'hôtel reading the morning paper. Judging by the stillness in the air, we presumed to be the day's first catch. The street signage singularly advertised Pad Thai $13 and as such I assumed that this Chinese rests had captured the essence of this fabled dish. Sticky squeeze bottles of bean sauce, hot chili and Shriracha arrived shortly before the Pad Thai - complete with unevenly chopped green, yellow and red peppers... So... I'll wager this place does well sticking to its regional specialities (Shanghai?) - but lesson learned. Overall, pleasant enough -clean - well kept - and yet in the pantheon of Pad Thai, right up there with the "off-the-shelf" stuff you can buy in Publix (or whatever your regional big grocer may be). read more

This place is called Shanghai Mong and there's 0 dish from Shanghai. It's a mixture between Beijing，Korea and Vietnam with a "special" twist. Their Kong Pao Chicken scared me into thinking I had covid as it has 0 taste and flavor，and the kimchi fried rice is way too wet. They charge 20% tip automatically with average service but the food is just overpriced and taste realllllllly bad. I have ordered from this establishment many times and it saddens me to have such a bad experience. I ordered the shrimp fried rice and the whole dish had a smoky, burnt taste to it. The soup that came with it was super watered down, I felt like they added water to the preexisting soup to create more broth. And the most disgusting part was the pickled radish. Let me preface this with the fact that I only ordered the black bean noodles. I came in during lunch time on a Friday and was delighted to see there was a special for black bean noodles for $8 (they had other lunch specials as well). The noodles were cooked well and the flavor was good and not watery. The portion size was just right for me and presumably most people. The service was good, and there was AC. I was in and out pretty quickly at lunchtime, so you can't go wrong with grabbing a quick lunch here. I'll definitely be back for the black bean noodles. While I haven't tried any other dishes here, I probably wouldn't be back for anything else given the lack of focus in the menu. There's Chinese food, Korean food, viet food, and even pho on the menu despite the fact that this is supposed to be a Korean/Chinese fusion restaurant. Restaurants that lack focus in the menu are generally just okay. If I had to guess, that's why Shanghai Mong only has a 3 star rating. I am giving one star to this place because: 1. All three dishes were bad. - Buckwheat Mul Naeng Myun $15: this is definitely made from instant packaged noodle and the soup base was also from the instant powder packet. - Samsun (Seafood) Gan-Jjajangmyun $15: too salty. Seemed it was made from not-so-authentic Jjajang paste. The sauce was way too watery, and there was almost no seafood except few small squid bits. - Gganpung Shrimp $25: Really, chef? This is what you call Gganpung Sae-U? No crushed garlic? What sort of batter do you use for deep frying so it came out so horrible? And, only 10 pieces for $25? 2. What made it the worst dining experience I ever had in any places during last 40+ years in Manhattan was how they tried to cheat customers by pre-adding 18% of tip on the itemized printout, then on the separate credit card printout, they had another tip-add line. I am warning all diners, especially tourists, to read the bill before making payment very, very carefully. This place is such a disgrace for the entire Korean community. I am surprised to see such low reviews! I think in this restaurant, it makes a huge difference for what you order. I ordered some jjajangmyeon and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and thought both were quite delicious. The price is reasonable (for ny) and the portions were very large.
