Food is ok. Luke warm plates for most of what we ordered. It isn't bad but it isn't great either. Prices are high.

Excellent service and amazing food! To drink, my boyfriend had a rum drink which was a little too sweet for my taste (it was blue but I don't recall the name!) and I had the lavender gimlet. Holy cow was it good. For lunch we split fish tacos and by suggestion of our waiter- a lobster melt and clam chowder to dip. The fish taco was standard (but good!!) but the lobster melt BLEWWWWW me away. We dipped in the clam chowder and it took it to a whole other level. This should be added to the menu as a meal- it's THAT good. There was a good portion of lobster in the melt and the chowder was delicious. We will be back. read more

The restaurant was crazy busy when we went. Highly recommend going early just to get your name on the list before you're hungry. I wish we could have at least got a drink from the bar while we waited but the bar was also apart of the wait. Plenty of lobster dish options. This was one of my favorite restaurants in Bar harbor. First they set us at a table a little too sunny for me, when I requested to move to a shady spot it was no problem at all. Our waiter, a darling cheerful soul, I believe her name was Ana, was very friendly and down right delightful. Ana gave great recommendations for us and helped me choose a gf meal. I had the haddock sandwich on gf bun, it was delicious. So much haddock on the sandwich. Only suggestion next time to grill the bun! Anyway thanks to this precious waitress who shined so bright and really loved what she was doing and great food, we had an amazing meal!!! read more

Excellent lobster roll...I got the roll traditional with mayo and old bay seasoning (they do serve it warm with butter on request). The lobster roll has a light amount of mayo which I like because it allows the lobster to be highlighted . I also had the lobster, bacon and corn dip, as well as the buffalo dip; both are good appetizers. This restaurant was highly recommended by the locals. read more

Make a reservation! Long wait but worth it. The lobster Mac-n-cheese was legit! Cheesy sauce shells with 2 more cheeses on top with fresh lobster. I ordered the small one and added chowder for my meal-plenty if food for me. Hubs got a burrito and said it was really good; had real steak! This should mean something because we're from Texas and have had some banging burritos. I was too full for dessert but their blueberry pie looked amazing, homemade and not as expensive as others in town. A must eat place! read more

Decided to stop on by during our trip to Acadia and was not disappointed. If the word of the locals don't lure you in, the delicious smells surely will. It's located at a small easily missable street, and parking is definitely a difficult task during those busy summer tourist months. However it's totally worth the walk if you park a bit away! Of course we had the lobster bacon dip, the lobster roll and the lobster dinner (I think you get the trend..) and topped the evening off with the warm amazing blueberry pie. It was truly a fantastic meal and accompanied by the nicest server in the bar area we could ask for. The vibe inside is welcoming and fun, it's trendy and progressive without trying to steer to far from the local diner feel. We loved every second of being there and hope to return when we come back for sure! read more

The gluten free bread is what encouraged me to get it but honestly they were so generous with the lobster and it was so delicious I ate most of it off the top without the bread. Eating my words and updating my review. Went here during the off season, three weekends in a row. Seemed to be in the company of many service industry locals, which made the bar about half full. The happy hour is generous and the fries delicious. Margaritas are great but for your money don't bother with the pitcher, rather go for individuals at the happy hour price. Always try the daily special margarita as they are delicious! Service was also attentive. Not hard for off season but much appreciated. Restaurant seems to be expanding and we will be sure to stop by in summer to see the completed renovation. read more

We stopped in for our first meal in Bar Harbor after a fun travel day. There was only a few minute wait on a Saturday at 5:00. That was not the case when we left! Our service was excellent! She provided great recommendations and was attentive yet not intrusive. My wife had crab cakes and chowder while I went with the southwest burger and fries. Add in a kids hamburger and kids hot dog and we had a great meal. My wife really enjoyed her crab cakes and chowder saying both were perfect. My southwest burger was good but the things that really blew me away was the ciabatta bun and fries. The fries were amazing and well worth the upgrade. The bun held up well with the very juicy burger. Also, the unsweetened iced tea had a hint of blue berry that was fantastic. All of the great reviews are correct. Delicious food, quaint location, excellent service, and large outdoor seating on their patio! As a family of 4 with a young baby we ordered takeout one evening and were pleasantly surprised with the diversity of the menu! We enjoyed the fish tacos, halibut entree, burger, and shrimp over salad. The portions were HUGE and we all enjoyed our food very much!! The sautéed kale and beets were unique and welcome side dishes to the usual "fries and cole slaw" you get with most seafood restaurants in the area. As a couple who has been to Bar Harbor for several years we will definitely add this resto to our list for our next vacation. It's a real crowd pleaser with delicious food for those nights when you don't know what you want to eat! read more

We were beyond disappointed with this restaurant. We sat in the bar area and it took us 15minutes to even have the server say anything to us at all. Then it took another 10 for my drink to come and another 10 on top of that for my boyfriend to receive his and for us to order. The server was not that busy for we could watch her sitting behind the bar or at the server station chatting with locals/ other employees. Once our food finally comes -not delivered by server but a kitchen employee- it looked delicious. However, my Mac and cheese tasted like it was almost all butter and zero cheese. I would have sent it back but the server never came back to check on us until 20 minutes into our meal. My boyfriend enjoyed his pulled pork quesadilla and said it was well cooked though. But the service made it hard for him to enjoy it due to the lack of refills he was wanting with his meal. Definitely not as good as said on yelp. read more

Delicious! With a friendly staff and ample seating, this place is a notable stop in Bar Harbor. The food is GREAT! But the takeout process is done extremely inefficiently. They messed up our takeout order twice day after day. My family came here for our first dinner in Bar Harbor. We didn't have a reservation but found seating right away in the bar area on one of their high tops. I had the Kiera's lobster dinner. The clam chowder that came with it was the best one we had during our whole trip. For the rest of our week there, my mom was disappointed that none of the other clam chowders tasted as good as the one from Side Street Cafe. The lobster and corn was also delicious and the perfect meal for our first evening. The waiter was very friendly and attentive, filling our drinks before they were empty and checking in on us often. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any of my friends who are making a trip to Bar Harbor. read more

Went here on a Thursday night. About a 10-15 min wait, not too bad. Server was nice. Fiancé got beef burrito and I got the lobster quesadilla. It said on the menu it comes with large portions of lobster. That night, they were out of avocado. Which meant substitute with another veggie. I got black bean salsa in my quesadilla instead. Kind of a bummer to not have avocados, I know that always bumps up the prices on items. Anyway. So the food comes. Now the lobster quesadilla is 25 dollars. Which was fine because I knew there was lobster in it. However... I swear, there was probably like four pieces of lobster in my food. One of the quesadilla slices didn't even have any lobster in it. Really disappointing, because other restaurants we went to definitely didn't skimp on the lobster portions. The food wasn't anything fabulous, I wouldn't think of coming back here when I know other places have lots of lobster to offer. read more

We had high hopes for this place given all the fabulous reviews! We ordered the lobster Mac and cheese (which came recommended from the reviews) and a bangin shrimp app dip. The Mac and cheese felt pretty average and the lobster portion seemed small for the price in comparison to the lobster roll portion. The shrimp app and the sauce that it was in was super flavorful. Maybe we didn't order the right things, but I don't think we'd head back given the wait and our last experience. The whole thing was just blend, lack of flavor worst Mac & Cheese ever Lobster Cobb Salad: 2/5 two star for fresh lobster meat, but no avocado, no ranch dressing, you get balsamic instead.....not what I expected at all....pretty disappointed Blueberry Pie: 4/5 I asked for it to be warmed up with ice cream..um~~~ yummy it is a bit on the sweeter side though.. The wings were EVERYTHING!!! I had low expectations tbh but was pleasantly surprised when my sister and I couldn't finish the jerk wings because our lips were numb and our roasted veggie plate was also generously served. Came with a relatively large group of friends where everyone found a meal they were left licking their fingers from. The mac and cheeses looked delicious and the crab dip PHENOMENAL! When we decided to come here for dinner we were excited to see that it was so busy. Since I am on the east coast I decided to eat fish - which I normally don't do so often back in the midwest, especially at restaurants. Fish is much fresher out here and they really know how to prepare and season it, right? I ordered the cajun fish tacos. Unfortunately it was painfully mediocre. Everything was extremely bland. There is no cajun spice on them. I had to drown them in hot sauce for any sort of flavor. I also had to salt the rice in order to get it down. I should have just got a burger. Burgers are harder to screw up, although I'm sure it wasn't anything to write home about either. Service was bad. My water was not refilled once. Servers were very robotic. Robots are cool, but not humans acting like robots. For dessert we got a blueberry pie. I'm not an expert on blueberry pie, but I thought it was alright. Didn't blow my socks off or anything (and yes, I was wearing socks). The vanilla ice cream served with it was that artificial yellow vanilla stuff your grandmother used to buy. I don't know how this place was so busy. We waited 30 minutes for this. I guess mediocre, flavorless food is perfectly acceptable here. read more

Bar Harbor is a wonderful place to visit. After hiking around Jordan Pond in the Arcadia National Park today, we were a bit chilled and worn out. My friend suggested soup and my wife suggested we get off the Main Street and check out some other options. We stumbled on the Side Street Cafe as a result and it was a lucky break. They had 3 kinds of soup as well as other food. No one in our party was really hungry. My friend got clam chowder and a nice salad. My wife got a bowl of clam chowder. I got the soup of the day: a red pepper/kale bisque and crab cakes. See photos. The crab was a special local variety which I had not heard of and that piqued my interest. Both the soup and the crab cakes were delicious. Both of the others agreed that the chowder was top notch. The Maine Root ginger beer is strong and not too sweet. Then came the Maine blueberry pie, some of the best I have ever tasted, with a lime-infused flaky crust! Mmm-mmm!! All at good prices with excellent service. They have a full menu with steak, lobstah, etc. and a build your own Mac 'n' Cheese option. They also have some great meal specials, like clam chowder, 1.5 lb. lobster, a bucket of clams and corn on the cob for $32! read more

I had issues with my nachos, but the server made sure we didn't get charged for it. The cheese was already cold and solid by the time we received it. Was really disappointed. My enchiladas was also very ordinary. It's a good fancy place, they are generally busy during tourist season but then who isn't in that area. Everyone felt the food was just ok.
