I've been to the Silver Diner multiple times over the years while visiting family, and it's always consistently average. This can be great for some people, not so great for others, pending expectations. Service: 2/5. It honestly seems like sometimes the wait staff just disappears. If you'd like dinner and dessert, or an appetizer and dinner, plan on two hours. For me, that's a lot for a casual restaurant. Food: 3.5-4/5. Pending your dietary restrictions, I would say, will decide your rating for food at the Silver Diner. No restrictions? I'm sure it's great. My table had salad, crab cakes, and an omelet (breakfast is served all day) and they enjoyed the food. As far as allergens go, they are good at cross contamination procedures, but the gluten free replacements are lacking. Except for the brownie, that was delicious. Our food came out at different times, including desserts, which left some at our table upset. All and all, a good place to go for an average experience, a lengthy menu with something for everyone, and a place to spend some time. read more

We had a nice girls gab there. Waitress was very attentive. Brought us ice tea, it was just the right strength. My friend got a grilled chicken sandwich with fries and to me, didn't look so great. But I had the watermelon shrimp salad, which was beautiful and tasted amazing! It's on their special seasonal menu and it is a hit! Giant menu with plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options. Very cool that their full menu is available ALL day. My 17 year old son had a burger at 8:30am and loved it. The chicken and waffles meal is 5 stars.! So good! The service was ok and the griddle fried bananas were not a hit, but everything else was tasty and served fresh. A new item on the list that is my new go to is the bruschetta with burrata. It is just the right size and extremely filling. The pesto adds a punch to the tomato. The hot honey drizzle is absent on top of the burrata. You can't come to Silver Diner without getting a milkshake! Table of 3 and they were able to seat us right away. Our server was phenomenal. The vast menu can be overwhelming as offer many different diner style foods. Our server made great recommendations. Personally, I was craving a burger and was a bit weary ordering bison at a place that doesn't specialize. It was AWESOME. Smaller burger, but under $20 for a solid bison burger...you can't complain. I went with a group of 11 today. We had to get 2 tables but it ended up working out well because we could hear each other talk. The place was busy and so the noise level can get high. Walked in and was seated fairly quickly and service was okay. Nothing really to note. However I did appreciate that someone that looked like the manager came around to check on all the tables. Ordered a club sandwich with fries and a milkshake. You really get a lot of food for the price you pay. What a great diner! I was in the area for a wedding and a friend suggested we meet at Silver Diner for breakfast. Our party of 4 sat outside. Our server was awesome. He was very friendly and answered all of our questions. Our meals came out quickly and were delicious. I ordered the oaxaca which was topped with a great amount of guacamole - there was not skimping. We all the left the diner very happy and full so much so that I decided to return the next day with my family. We were a party of 10 and were sat immediately. Our server again was very patient, friendly, and awesome! The menus is a little overwhelming because there are so many options. I have been here on many occasions. The menu is extensive, and the food is pretty good. On my last visit for lunch the last day of summer vacation before school started, there was a lot of younger folks there who were very noisy. The diner probably could not do much about the noise from patrons, but the piped-in music should have been adjusted to a lower level....I mentioned this to my server but I don't think she could have heard me. I am a long time customer of Silver Diner in Rockville. I also went to the one in Tyson's Corner, VA last week. Breakfast is the best thing to have here. I love the eggs with grits and corn beef hash. The bacon and sausage are great here also. I like their sourdough toast. Coffee is okay. The service is always top notch and friendly. The 50's old style New Jersey style diner decor with jukeboxes makes for a fun atmosphere. I had many a breakfast and lunch meeting her when I worked in the DMV. I don't know what has happened to the food here. Maybe new management. I ordered grilled cheese. One slice of cheese that had melted into the bread. So basically, no cheese on their grilled cheese. My mom and I stopped in for a late lunch after an appointment in the area. We were seated right away but waited about 15 mins before our waiter came over to take our order. After finally coming over, our waiter was very nice and helped make some recommendations. Shoutout to our local community heroes! Nayaran took great care of us! He attentive, polite, and friendly! I think he knows the names of all his regulars! That was very nice and heartwarming to see! The venue is clean and so nostalgic! The outside seating area is gorgeous and inviting! It was a stormy day, so my picture would not do it justice. I loved it!! So refreshing and helpful during the covid pandemic. The milkshakes were beautiful, delicious, and so nostalgic! The paper straws were a bit difficult, but we just asked for another one after our first one stopped working. Great service and yummy food. As someone who loves brunch and probably spends way more than necessary on brunch food, I was told that Silver Diner was a must. The place is ok, a throwback to old diners but doesn't exactly fit in with any particular time period. The jukebox thing is just tacky and not exactly nostalgia evoking. Server was slow but attentive. The food was so-so. Everything, including the coffee was lukewarm. It was way too noisy, chaotic, and hard to have a conversation or enjoy the mediocre food. This is my favorite Silver Diner location. I loved their original location which I used to frequent a lot over 30 years ago which is now Pike and Rose. I've tried the Rio location and this one is by far the better location. The lines used to be crazy long for breakfast during the weekends but it's not much of a wait these days. Can't go wrong with any of their breakfast items and we also enjoyed eating lunch and dinner here. The shrimp and grits (available during brunch) is probably one of the best one we've had.
