Very disappointed. Ordered the Cesar Salad and Eggplant Parmigiana. When ordering, I asked for anchovies on my salad, but I was told that I could not have that even though they had anchovies for their pizzas. Dressing for Cesar clearly tasted like it came out of a gallon jug, and the eggplant Parmesan was even worse. It was a bowl full of soupy tomato sauce with an overcooked mushy slice of eggplant and a little Parmesan sprinkled on top. I sent back the eggplant Parmesan. The waiter gave me attitude,. I paid for my salad and left. Bligh! I think they should stick to pizza. The pizza looked very good. Update: Wow! This restaurant's shameful response speaks volumes about their lack of integrity. My profile?!? Yes, look at my profile because you will see numerous positive reviews I have written over the years. Unfortunately, I had not read this restaurant's reviews before-hand. Clearly, I am not the first customer who were disappointed with their "Eggplant Parmesan ". But, instead of using the feedback to make their product better, it seems that now, riding high in arrogance, they are insulting their customers. Shame on you. read more

Not one to generally give a review but I must in the case of Songe'E Napoloi. Have been to all three of their establishments in Soho, Upper West Side and New Jersey over the last few years and have never been disappointed by either the amazing food or great staff and service. The pizza and starters are all first rate, along with their delicious pastas and other entrees. Have even brought Italian friends from Italy here and they agreed. The manager, Pietro, is hands on and always attentive in making sure our meals are great and always a delicious dining experience. I could go on and on, but go try it for yourself. Love this place. Have tried the pizzas, pasta dishes and main courses. All good quality. Genuine Italian experience with real Italian staff. The seating is a little tight but the furniture is really high quality so it doesn't feel uncomfortable. My only suggestion is that they hire an American to proof-read the menu. This place is definitely a hidden gem in the UWS. First off the restaurant is beautiful but tightly packed due to the space restriction. so don't come in here expecting to lounge or with a bunch of kids. The food is absolutely spectacular. You can tell whoever owns this place meticulously looked at every detail when it came to food preparation and decor. We got two Pizza's that were absolutely spectacular. I honestly haven't had Pizza this good outside of Italy. They import many of their ingredients from Italy and the crust is both crispy and fluffy so you can enjoy the flavor without any grease. One thing to know is they have an extensive menu with a lot of ingredients you may have not heard of due to them being imported. I would highly recommend looking at the menu first and seeing what you might want so you don't have to do research at the table. The pasta's looked great as well but in my opinion you have to get Pizza here. For the quality of Pizza it wasn't overly expensive as well. I am Italian from Rome and this place is legit like a good Italian restaurant back home. The staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. If you sit at the bar, you'll have the chance to see a real "Pizzaiuolo" make your pizza from scratch super fast like they do in Italy. We were so happy when Song'E Napule opened on the UWS--truly good pizza, elegant interior, reasonably priced wines (& generous pour), but appalling business practices. When we were planning our evening they refused to take reservations, under any circumstances. (They just modified this.) As a result, they had people pouring in and they couldn't control their line. We were finishing our wine, having left a generous tip, when the waiter came over and asked us to leave. This has never happened to me--or any of my friends--through decades of eating out. Napule is an upscale restaurant. It's not Domino's--tho come to think of it, I'm pretty sure Domino's doesn't ask customers to leave. An ugly end to an otherwise lovely evening. read more

Extremely underwhelming. First, and most notably, the wine pour was about 1/2 of other restaurants. Not a joke. We had to ask the waitress if that was a tasting size. Embarrassing. The staff also didn't seem as happy or engaged as you might find in their downtown location; just a different vibe, which is not a positive. I was also chatting up the owner a bit when we first arrived, myself being from Naples and all, and he literally left me standing in the middle of the restaurant when someone came to ask him something; never came back or apologized; not really Neapolitan behavior. The rest of the meal was fine; not great. And as is typical of these authentic Italian places, unjustly expensive for really basic dishes, but they have to pay the upper west side taxes I suppose. No real reason to come back, but had to check it out eventually. Meh read more

Everything about this place is delightful: the food, the presentation, the staff (Italians). The pizza is too die for. The Tiramisu' is perfect. Last night, I had a mixed salad, and even that was just right (they serve it with typical Italian condiments mixed together (oil and vinegar, salt). My dad is from that area of Italy, so I can distinguish amazing from average food from that region. This restaurant is the real deal. Plus, the staff are attentive without being invasive. Don't go to this restaurant if you're expecting good service. The hostess will attempt to seat you in the most inconvenient areas (presumably for larger parties?) even if the restaurant is barely occupied. Complete utter nonsense and I won't have it. This location aesthetically looks nicer than the Houston St location, but I was upset and shocked to find that they DO NOT have the Montanara (my favorite pizza at the other location) on the menu, so I'm docking a star. There was also a decently long wait for a table here likely due to the more limited options in the area, and the service was quite slow, so that also affects my rating. Otherwise, the food was good and the staff were nice. However, if there is no Montanara on the menu, I will not be returning to this location. read more

Pizza was so good! It was really cool to see the oven in the back. Our group ordered a few dishes to share family style and the tartufata (we got it w truffle added) was my favorite. The margherita and diavola pizzas were still good but the truffle pizza's the one I can't stop thinking about lol. My bf loved the paccheri con polpetta, the only pasta dish we ordered. Now he wants to go back to order it again so he doesn't have to share it :) Also recommend the il tesoro di san gennaro cocktail and my non-drinker friends liked their Italian sodas (orange and lemon). Service was attentive, no complaints. We left really full with leftovers to go. I thought it was neat that the pizza box seemed lined with foil? Started in 2015 in West Village, it has built a strong following for its Neapolitan pizza, staying true to its root. Now a slice of the root has replanted on the UWS, expanding a small pizza empire. Three pizza categories are offered; tomato based, white, and a specialty section, allowing the be more creative with the toppings. Do come in expecting specific pizza characteristics-very tender, light, and moist at the same time. That's Neapolitan for you. So don't complain if you expect a NY or a deep dish one. Welcome to the UWS! Celebrated my fiancé's birthday here Monday night. His favorite type of pizza is Napolitano and his favorite wine is from the Campania region so Song e Napule was the perfect choice. First, love the beautiful royal blue and gold décor. Next, the service was top-notch. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, and even gave us recommendations for restaurants in Positano for when we go there for our honeymoon! Of course, last but not least is the FOOD! We started with the super creamy burrata (with prosciutto, cherry tomatoes, arugula, and balsamic glaze) - yum, yum, yum! Then we split the margherita and capricciosa pizzas. They were both divine; I cannot select a favorite. The margherita is simple, but each ingredient is allowed to shine. The dough was fresh and fluffy, the tomato sauce was perfection, the cheese was creamy, and the touch of EVOO and basil gave it that extra something-something. The capricciosa also had the perfect dough and tomato sauce, plus the fabulous flavor combinations of artichoke, mushrooms, olives, and prosciutto. Of course, we didn't stop there! We ended the night with their delicious cream puffs covered in chocolate and a jar of stellar tiramisu. And, we enjoyed all of the above with a rich bottle of one of their reds with the Aglianico grape. We look forward to coming back (and to ordering take-out! read more

I do live literally 250 feet from the restaurant so not sure how that would do it but maybe. Pizza was underdone (raw dough in the middle), salty beyond salty. NAPLES IN THE NABE! The real thing on the UWS. Had most delicious meal of fresh branzino with broccoli rabe, roast potatoes and tomatos. The staff was incredibly attentive and kind. Spoke to padrone Ciro and Pietro and what they are doing here, authentic cibo Napoletan, great cocktails and happy vibes all make this my new Go-to dinner spot. The food, ambiance, and service were all exceptional! From the minute we walked into the restaurant, we were warmly greeted and sat down to our table. They were very accomodating with our 7 month old and provided a high chair for us immediately. We ordered several appetizers, pastas and pizzas - each dish blew our mind. The pizza dough was light and fluffy, and the toppings were so fresh (esp the burrata pizza). The pasta noodles were perfectly al dente. The cocktail drinks were super refreshing.
