I haven't been to a Spires in years, so I stopped in for breakfast before work. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean and well maintained, someone loves this place! My favorite place to have breakfast at. Well, that's the only time I've gone was for breakfast. We're always seated immediately, our order is also taken quick and we have our food within minutes. Waiters attitude was of a kiss ass! On this app, it says you can have a free coffee with review. The waiter just felt like arguing and saying they don't honor any "specials" nor any apps free anything. I told him and showed him the app and offer, he still went on with his kiss ass attitude of saving the company from losing out on a $2 dollar coffee. So I ignored him and went over to the manager who was listening to us go back and forth right behind us regarding the damn free coffee! If this app is offering me a free coffee for me as a 1st timer at this diner to go and check out this joint as an incentive I AM GONNA EXPECT FOR IT TO BE HONORED! Not have some fool think he's the owner and decline what I'm showing him with attitude as if I'm taking advantage of a well established recommended place! Spoke to the very professional, courteous, respectable manager who his vibes and energy showed he's experienced well enough to comply with request, said OF COURSE we'll honor the free coffee, don't worry about it! I said thank you, see, why was the arguing needed if you quickly said ok and sat back down. I ordered the French toast, and to be truly honest, they weren't a big deal! The ones I make at home are 10x much better! But sometimes you don't feel like cooking and you go out to eat! And you know that when there's some type of discussion, argument, differences, waiters thinking they're the isht, your food don't get that love making and something is going to be wrong with it because that's the lil bit of power us as consumer's give anyone who handles your food, soo it was really blah! No real good taste on the French toast, egg was chewy, bacon like the Dennys bacon, over all, a place where you don't want to go waste your money on food that gets pretty pictures, but bland tastes! Thank you for the coffee, I payed for it with the $2 tip I still left out of courtesy. But the back and forth should have never happened, plus a $14 dollar bill for food that looks like you got it at Dennys IS OBVIOUSLY NOT WORTH IT! Especially with dumb waiter's who think they're like cause of the thousand praises he gives for coming in! "Thank you, come again", like if he's mocking Asians! Its exaggerated! Tasted very mediocre and kind of expensive. And the onion rings didn't taste very good. If this was free I wouldn't even eat it. All people in our group hated the food. If you're looking for a casual diner with good food at a great price --- this is your place. The "decor" has an 80s diner vibe and is like stepping back in time. Our server was friendly and efficient. She continually filled our drinks throughout our meal and delivered our food quickly. My youngest daughter ordered pancakes and loved them. My older daughter enjoyed her chicken fingers and fries. I tried the vegetable beef soup and salad--- it was fresh and excellent. Overall, a solid lunch choice that delivers ---all for under $30! I came in late, half hour before closing, and worried the food would be the dregs, but the patrons had delicious looking platters,so I ordered from the seniors menu. Fish and chips, the fish was pieces of sole, hand battered and really delicious. Not excessively battered, in fact more like bread crumbs which was just right for sole. The sides were fine too. Chunky mashed pitatoes, not need barley soup and the ripper for seniors, rice pudding. My only regret was i ordered it to go, to get back to room to watch the dubs move to next round in playoffs. We ordered about 30 minutes before they closed which was enough time! The steak we ordered wasn't good super fatty and couldn't eat half of it, I ordered fries and coleslaw and I got a baked potato with nothing to put on it ( same for the other meals baked potato) the salads were in a good amount of water ( guess I'm glad they washed it) with a little side of dressing! Apparently I've been here twice, but the first visit was so unmemorable that my recent visit truly shows why. The service is decent, but it took absolutely forever for our mediocre food to come out. I ordered the eggs benedict with potatoes. Eggs benedict is probably my favorite breakfast food, but it was my first time tasting such bland eggs benedict. Once I've had eggs benedict that gave me stomach problems, but even that one had way more flavor to it. Also the potatoes were very uneven in terms of heat and texture. It's as if they made fresh potatoes and wanted to fill up the plate by adding in a bunch of potatoes that were sitting on the table for hours so some potatoes were hot and soft whilst others were cold and hard. This place is an old school diner. The inside is definitely dated and adds to the charm of the restaurant. The wait staff were very friendly and quick and attentive. I must have been very thirsty because my water cup kept getting topped off. My meal was simple and very reasonably priced. I especially enjoyed the yummy onion rings. I also liked the location being so close to the hotel and the airport. Went last time and I always order the beefeater but it was a little off. The meat was a little tough and a little fatty here and there. This time could not have been any better. In fact maybe the best I've had in recent memory so hats off to the chef especially if they just hired a new one. Been living in Ontario for 25years and never been here until this past weekend 8/21/21. I came with my daughter and boyfriend, everyone greeted us well, the food came to us fast.
