This is my second time visiting this location. I came in around 6:30 p.m. on a Wednesday. And I was able to be sat immediately. I was greeted with water and menus. I already knew what I wanted, cucumber salad and yellow curry with chicken. It is so good. I love the cucumber salad but I have to pick off the onions. The curry has such great flavor and big chunks of carrots and potatoes and chicken. Highly recommend. Anywho, I'll definitely be back!

Walked in and was seated right away. The inside is modern with a spacious layout, but I didn't like the menu, it was very sticky. Tokyo Tonkatsu - 8.5/10 - no complaints Pad Gra Pow Chicken - 3/10 - didn't taste very authentic. Aloha Fried Chicken - 7/10 - the chicken was good but had a thick layer of the breading and the portion was a bit small for the price Thai Iced Tea - not good at all, we left it untouched.

Feels like a standard Thai fare when it came to the pad see you (spelt like that) and pad kee mow -- the flavor and saltiness level was just right for us, the noodles don't break, and the portion size is reasonable. The aloha fried chicken was creative - the chicken was quite crunchy, yet the batter was not too thick like you might find at other restaurants. The pineapple is refreshing and goes well with the crunchy chicken. The hot sauce was crazy hot though! Service was reasonable ( food took about 10-15 minutes to come out -- dishes came out one at a time surprisingly) but otherwise unremarkable. Ambiance was average -- seats were a bit dirty.

Been meaning to try this place and it didn't disappoint! Dropped by for dinner ~5:16pm on a Wednesday. The place was empty since they had just started dinner service, so we were seated immediately. What we got: - Salmon Rolls ~ This was sooo good! Crispy on the outside and succulently juicy on the inside, this dish was a great start! - Massaman Nuea ~ The flavor for this dish was amazing. The coconut curry was perfectly sweet from the shallots and vegetables and paired perfectly with the roti. However, the braised beef was on the drier and saltier side - best eaten when shredded and mixed with the curry! - Kabocha Curry ~ Served with a side of rice and crispy pork belly as the choice of meat, this was decent. A cozy well-rounded dish. - Pad See You ~ a solid staple for the table! For a table of three, three main dishes and one appetizer were enough food for us to share. And we had extra to take home! For a Wednesday dinner service, the place wasn't packed, and service was very attentive. With a quieter and darker ambiance, it's great for a dinner night out!

Came here with a friend for some Thai food on New Year's Eve! The service was great, and the servers were attentive and very nice, filling up our waters and checking up on us periodically! I also really enjoyed the ambiance! They had decorated for Christmas, so there was tree and some Santa decor, which was quite nice for the holiday season. I also really liked their chairs, which were very comfy! I got the Pad See Ew, with a side of the bone broth. The bone broth was flavorful and very peppery, which I enjoyed. The noodles were very delicious as well - not too chewy but still a good amount of chew, and the food in general was not too salty or oily! Overall, I really liked my meal, and would come back again to try new dishes. My friend got the Aloha Fried Chicken, and it looked like a feast! We were both pleasantly surprised by the presentation. She said she really liked her dish, would order again, and the portions were big enough that she took some home as leftovers! Overall, definitely a 10/10 dining experience, and I would come back again to try new dishes :)

Came here with a friend on a Friday night before a nearby concert and it was such a good find! Ambiance and decor was beautiful, not too busy. Here's what we ordered: Drinks : Fresh young Coconut Milk 4/5 Fresh. My friend enjoyed her drink but also we can just go to the asian market and get it there too. Felt like a nice treat. Thai Iced Tea - 4/5 Yummy, and I even had enough to take to go on the way to the concert venue. Appetizer - Chicken Satay 6/5 - WE SAW THIS ON ANOTHER REVIEW- Very yummy, the peanut sauce and cucumbers with it were refreshing. Entrees: Pad See You - 4/5 Good. Standard and flavorful. Good portion size too. Kobucha Curry w/ Sun Rice - 5/5 Delicious! Tried out the sun rice and it paired well we thought. Honestly, we were really pleased with our food and just glad to find a new place that turned out to be good too! We shared between the two of us and honestly we were stuffed. Would definitely come again.

Food was so scrumptious that I'd eat here anytime of day... perhaps you could say in both sun & moon Favorite dishes were the massaman nuea & pad see ew. Honorable mention to the corn cake appetizer as well! SoMa is lucky to have this place in the neighborhood. Very welcoming service and spacious interior. Wish we had enough stomach room for the dessert sampler!

The interior is such a vibe and is a walking distance of the Caltrain station. :) Both times I arrived, I got there right at opening time, and I had to wait a few minutes for the workers to let us in. The first time I went, I got the kabocha curry and it was sooooooo good, I literally could not stop thinking about it for a whole week so I came back a week later with my boyfriend LOL. I would recommend eating the curry it while it is still warm/hot :) It also comes with a bowl of rice with kabocha bits in it. At my second visit, we tried the Corn Crab Cakes and it was delicious! At the end of the meal, we tried the Sun & Moon Platter which had all 3 of the desserts - mango sticky rice, banana rolls, and mochi ice cream + dorayaki. I would pass on this tbh unless you know you will like all 3 desserts. I learned that dorayaki wasn't something I particularly enjoyed, it was a little too dry and unexciting for me. If I were to order dessert, I would go with the mango sticky rice or fried banana fritters. Would love to come here again!

Corn Crab Cake

Visited on a weekday for lunch and the restaurant was pleased with my menu. It was very familiar and I recall coming here when it was a different name. The restaurant is open and spacious lit by natural lighting. We were seated at a table by window, so it was quite nice. The menu was simple and offered a great variety of Thai curries and noodles and some ramen bowls. We decided on Thai lunch and we ordered the corn crab cakes, kaboucha curry and pad see ewe. Our orders came out quickly. The corn was fried crispy and topped with crab meat...it was really delicious. The crispness of the fried corn had a nice texture and complimented the crab meat well. I enjoyed my pad see ewe--the wide rice noodles with both American & Chinese broccoli. It was nicely seasoned, not overly salty. The staff was attentive and refilled our water glasses regularly. If you're in the area or looking for a nice meal before any event at Oracle Park or Chase Center...it's a great place to come. The food did not disappoint.

Would come back - good flavor and reasonable prices. Would recommend the kabocha curry and pad see you

If you're looking for good Thai food in the city, you need to try Sun and Moon! A hidden gem in SOMA with lots of parking nearby and perfect for groups of all sizes. It was super easy to get a last minute table and the staff was very accommodating. Ordered the chicken satay, fresh rolls, chicken pad see ew and the mango with sticky rice. Everything was well done and perfectly seasoned. The food was great and loved the presentation for each dish. Pretty sure the kitchen also adjusted portions for our group of three so everyone had equal bites.

Thai Iced Tea

Overall a good experience at Sun and Moon. The staff were very welcoming and we sat right away. The restaurant has a good amount of space, with some tables large enough to accommodate 8-10 people. The location is about a 15 minute walk from Oracle Park too. I had the Pad See You with chicken which was really good, and it was a generous portion, so I definitely had left overs. The Thai Iced tea was really good as well!

Mango sticky rice. A bit small.
Binh P.

I really enjoy pumpkin curry at thai places and this is no exception. Probably one of the best iterations of the curry I've had in SF. It comes with a side of rice and meat costs a bit extra. It's got a good balance of sweetness, creaminess, and spiciness that keeps me coming back. The kabocha pieces are abundant, and even though I added chicken, I don't think I even noticed because I was gorging on the kabocha. I also got the mango sticky rice. It was okay, but $15 for such a small portion doesn't make me want to buy it again. I also wished the coconut cream sauce was a little thicker as well. Overall it's a great lunch spot.

My only real complaint was the seating arrangement. My wife and I were seated at a shared counter-style table that was divided by a glass partition. While the partition provided some separation, I could still clearly see the people sitting directly across from us, along with all the eating noises and conversations. I personally prefer a little more privacy while dining, so that took away from the experience. I won't comment on the wait time because that's pretty normal for popular restaurants in San Francisco. The highlight of the meal was definitely the A5 Wagyu Ramen. It was absolutely delicious and worth ordering. The flavors were amazing, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting. Overall, the food was outstanding, and despite the seating arrangement, I would gladly return.

The texture is perfect and they are so chewy and bouncy. Truly the highlight of the night. For appetizers, we tried the sandstorm calamari and the chicken karaage. Both had an excellent fry and the calamari was excellent with the included garlic mixture that added a nice kick. One note here, the sauce for the chicken was not enough for the amount of pieces. The tsukumen was excellent. The dipping broth was packed with flavor and the consistency allowed it to stick to the noodles perfectly. I will note that I preferred the regular chasu over the sou-vide version. Service was good, attentive and food was out fast. Overall, this place was excellent and I will be back. Overall: 4.9/5

The wait for a table was 20 mins or we can share a large table with random people and be seated immediately. We were hungry. We went with the large shared table. Pleasantly, there was more than enough room. There were at least 1-2 seats in between the three groups on each side that were there- a solo diner, a small family of 3, and my group of 4. I ordered the Karaka Spicy, my bf ordered Akamaru Modern, his sister ordered Miso, and I don't remember what her friend got- I think it was also Karaka spicy. My bf and I ordered the Treasure plate on the side to share and a side of spicy paste because I know Japanese spicy is barely spicy (from someone who grew up eating SEA spicy). Karaka Spicy had a nicely balance tonkotsu mouth feel and pork flavor. Broth was a little salty. I was correct to assume that it wasn't spicy because I used half of the side of spicy paste and I still didn't think it was spicy enough. Chashu was cooked fine. Notes: - I wished I would've asked if they could swap the thin noodles for the thick ones. I love the chew thicker noodles provide. - Noodles were cooked al dente. Akamaru Modern tasted very similar to Karaka spicy without the spicy. My bf used the other half of the spicy paste as dip for his toppings. He enjoyed it. Miso was a lighter broth (obvi) with a good umami flavor and was not watered down. Solid. She loved it. I have never seen her finish a whole bowl of ramen before. There was a server in training that took our order with the help of the trainer- he did great. Staff was attentive with our waters. Bussers were also quick to notice and remove empty plates and bowls regularly making for an easy clean up after we leave and kept the shared table clutter free. Interior was modern, but casual. The ramen is served in large bowls, which looks impressive at first, but the actual portion of noodles and toppings felt underwhelming for the price. We asked our waiter if we could have a little more heat, and he nodded and brought over a tiny dipping-bowl-sized portion of some red paste with no explanation. There was no mention that it would cost extra. After finishing our meal, we were surprised to see a $5 charge on the bill for the "extra spice." We genuinely thought it was complimentary, and if it wasn't, that absolutely should have been communicated before serving it. The lack of transparency was disappointing and unnecessary. If you try to come here around 6-7pm, there is a long line waiting to get seated, but it moves fast. I kept peeking out of my hotel window and by 7:30pm, line was almost non existent, so that's when I went down to get dinner. When I arrived, I was immediately shown a seat inside. You can sit outside too as lots of tables right on the street but it was way too cold for me. Service was quick and I ordered a Yuzu Zen (vegan) ramen. I wanted to try something different than their signature ramen. This ramen was cooked in the traditional Japanese Buddhist temple way, which was a bonus for me. I am a practicing Buddhist and have meditated at various different temple organizations and I enjoy temple cooking as its usually lighter but still very soul nourishing. The broth is lighter and its a vegan dashi broth and comes with zest of yuzu (its like a Japanese lemon), bamboo shoots, crispy kale and sweet fried tofu. I enjoyed this bowl of noodles with soup and the broth was hot, so it warmed me up. I was not really a fan of the inari (sweet fried tofu) as it was just too sweet for me. Service was a little slow towards the end as I was itching to pay and go for an evening stroll, but otherwise, a good experience. I'd come back again when nearby.
