The lobster tail was so overcooked it felt like rubber and was inedible we actually tried to eat it and could not. The rest of the boil was saved cause we had our own seasoning at home but would NEVER order again. My husband got the half and half fried seafood plate with catfish and shrimp, and liked it he said it was seasoned well but he preferred a similar plate from similar spots, that use more seasonings and offer bigger portions for the same price. read more

Oh my gosh! Popped in here for a bit of a change. We love low country boils so we wanted to give it a try. So many options! We got to the restaurant a little after 9pm on a Wednesday. Google hours showed they close at 10:30 so we figured it we had enough time to order and eat before they closed. The majority of the staff was visibly and audibly upset that we came to dine in. One staff member said "wow why would they come in when we're about to close." I've worked in food service for years and 1.5 hours is plenty of time before close, regardless of the time it's unprofessional. Our server was friendly and professional. She did let us know the kitchen was closing so we had to put our order in all at once, no big deal, totally understandable. They were out of some items we wanted so we ordered what they had. Food came out quickly, it was good but not very hot. My friend got up to ask for a spoon, a staff member that he asked said "I'm not your server" when he asked, straight up rude. Our waitress did end up getting us the spoon when we asked. Staff very loudly closed the restaurant around us, letting us know our presence was not welcome. There were 2-3 other parties in the restaurant at the time so it's not like we were the only people there. Bottom line: food was decent, our specific waitress was kind and accommodating, but the rest of the staff was rude and unprofessional. I called them on the phone to explain about no condiments. She offered a 10% discount on my next order. There won't be a next order. I wasn't interested in a 10% discount. My seafood is not edible for me the way it is. What is a 10% discount going to do for me. I ordered my meal about 8:40 PM. It would take me half an hour to get back to Surfing crab. Ok so both locations the corn wasn't a favorite of mine, the corn wasn't tender enough and kinda firm to bite into.. other than that service was just as great and food was packed with flavor! This location is much bigger with a bigger bar, lots of TVs for game or fight night, beer and cocktail specials. They had Bloody Mary specials for the Sunday we went. Wow wow wow! If you love Cajun food this is the BEST spot in San Antonio for it! Normally, I'd go to smashing crab for Cajun sea food BUT I've found a new favorite. Alright guys! We're making progress!!! Checked this place out yesterday after work (Thursday around 4pm) since I noticed they just opened up, have seafood boils on the menu, & they're located right down the street from me. When you walk in - it doesn't look like the entire restaurant was being utilized but maybe it was because only the left side of the restaurant had customers. Also I noticed you can also sit at the bar - but you have to be at least 18+ to sit at the bar. All staff wore masks and booths are separated by a plastic cover shield - that's the best way I can describe it to you. We sat down and our waitress was very friendly - she asked us if it was our first time here and we asked her about happy hour. They have a wide range of daily happy hour signature cocktails - on Thursdays it's the Texas Hurricane - so that's what my boyfriend and I got to start. If you're anything like me - a person who loves frozen drinks - just know that they only offer drinks on the rocks. Usually that's a pass for me but I decided what the heck - $6 for an alcoholic beverage - I'm okay with that. I believe the Texas Hurricane is normally priced $10. Anyways the drinks came out and my boyfriend and I were both pleasantly surprised. The drink was strong but not too strong to the point where I wouldn't be able to drink it. I enjoyed it so much I ordered 2 drinks total. My boyfriend also enjoyed the Texas Hurricane but also really wanted to try out their margaritas. After his first Texas Hurricane he ordered a strawberry margarita ($8.50 each) and he preferred that one over the Texas Hurricane cocktail - he ended up getting 1 Texas Hurricane & two strawberry margaritas. Now onto the food - as an appetizer I ordered the steamed oysters - half dozen - with the surfing special seasoning on top. Now this dish - I enjoyed it. Add a squeeze of lemon and a dash of Tabasco and it was good. My only feedback on this would be instead of steamed oysters - maybe do them grilled and topped with the same topping options. Now THAT will absolutely make that a killer appetizer. My boyfriend and I both got the #1 combo - pick two. I got 1lb crawfish and 1lb Manila clams - surfing special seasoning - spicy. My boyfriend got 1lb crawfish and 1lb headless shrimp - surfing special seasoning - mild. Honestly it was scrumptious - for out of season crawfish - it did not have that rubbery frozen crawfish taste at all. I would even go as far as saying they tasted LIVE/FRESH. The combos include corn, sausage, & potatoes. There was an abundance of sausage, 2 corns, and 2 potatoes in my combo. You're also able to sub corn for more sausage, etc - bc that's what my boyfriend decided to do. The clams were great - not a bunch of shells - they all had meat on em. I tried two shrimps from my boyfriends combo and they were nice and big - firm and juicy. Just perfect. Overall this is a great new seafood joint! I'll definitely be back to visit. Also if you sign up for the Fivestars App - they are on there and are currently running a promotion for $5 off a combo or special order. RC football also came with two corn sausage and potatoes very filling. Also love the way that they pour your seafood into the bowl so you don't have to get your hands super messy from eating out of the bag. It gives a whole seafood boil a more fancy fill.
