This is our sushi go to place. The service is the best in the East Valley. No set of waitresses pays better attention to their customers than this crew. No one. It's not even close. It's noisy and the tables are pretty close together. The sushi is wonderful. We try to get here twice a month. We don't have a better sushi place in the East Valley.

Sashimi here is great! We went here last month for the first time and tried the Love Boat, great for those who havent had anything to eat in the past couple of hours. It's def filling, but, also you dont feel guilty eating it, as it is all healthy!! We recently tried the sushi sashimi combo, great as well for lower appetite, but, just if you have a craving for good sushi. The quality is very fresh and amazing. Both the combo and the love boat come with Miso soup, which is great and their fresh wasabi is also excellent! The service has been friendly both times be it christmas day or a regular afternoon!! We are here from out of town and after reading all the amazing reviews we were excited to check it out. We aren't professionals by any means but know good sushi when we have it. This place was just meh. You could tell the fish wasn't super fresh and the pieces were so huge they were hard to fit in our mouths. Out of the four rolls we got only one was worth ordering again. One, in particular, was the Phoenix roll. The cream cheese was still hard like it was just taken out of the freezer. So disappointed, especially since a friend recommended a different place but we went here because of all the great reviews. On a good note, service was wonderful.

Sat down and immediately our drink and food order taken. Fast service. Sushi so fresh and made perfectly into decent size pieces. Better than most happy hour menus. Servers always checking in and clearing empty plates. Explained which sushi or appetizer was being served to us. Kept our drinks filled. This is by far the best sushi I have had along with perfection of customer service!!!! Give them a try ! They will not disappoint. We will definitely be back again!!

This is one of the best sushi happy hour spots in Gilbert. If you are looking for a quick and easy drop in sushi spot, this can be your place. The cheese puffs and edamame are the perfect appetizers to start you off. I love their sweet potato roll, the Tootsie roll, and the creamy cali roll. The service is always great. They are kind and attentive. They get the food out very quickly and you can't beat the prices. If you are looking for a sushi place that won't break the bank but still tastes great look no further . Make sure to check this great sushi spot out.

Sushi burrito was a must because... it's a sushi burrito. It wasn't bad but don't think I would get it again as the ratio of crab meat was too high for me. Other roll and nigiri were really good, gyoza was good too. Would go back.

I waited 2 hours and 45 minutes for my food. I ordered it on Uber Eats at 4pm for a 6pm pick up. Got there because it said my order was ready. Was told it would be ready in 25-30 minutes so I braved it. I asked 8 times when my food would be ready while I watched groups of new people circle in and out with orders that had been ordered at 7pm. Mind you I couldn't cancel my order because at 6:55 they had marked my order as completed, so Uber Eats couldn't cancel and refund my order. By 8pm I asked them where my food was again and they said they didn't even receive my order until 7pm so it would be another 30 mins. At this point I was about to walk out, without my $100 worth of food. I asked the wait staff if i could at least give them my phone number so I could sit in my car. I was fuming. By 8:30...nothing. I watched as 8 people walked out with their food...people who were there for a quarter of the time I was. So I went back inside so they didn't forget about me and 15 minutes later I finally got my food, it was cold. The kicker...they were giving people chocolate and $20 gift cards for the wait. As I was walking out the door a woman ran up to me with a gift card and apologized for the long wait...it was $10, the thought was nice but a slap in the face. I drove home crying because it was Valentine's day and all I wanted to do was have a nice dinner at home with my partner. It would have been nice if they just would have turned their Uber Eats and DoorDash request off for the night, would have saved me one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. read more

I was definitely surprised by the serving sizes! I expected only one burrito and a smaller bowl of ramen, but Sushi Rock & Grill exceeded my expectations. However, the broth for tonkatsu lacked in flavor and interest, pulling down the quality of the overall dish (altho the eggs were very flavorful but not soft boiled sadly). The Ika mura was also lacking in flavor, but I do think it's rare for places to serve a whole squid. I think this place is good if you're looking for a cheap Japanese restaurant, but the quality on some dishes is iffy. read more

The food is amazing and sushi is always fresh and made to order. The staff is so generous and beyond kind. The restaurant is small and can feel crowded on busy times but I think the small business is what keeps this place so amazing. This is my go to spot and everyone that I have brought here has loved the sushi. I will be returning for many years to come as they are fresh and good every visit which isn't the case for most sushi places. 10/10 recommend. read more

Oh My GAWD! This is sooooo good. Do yourself a favor and eat here. We got MANY rolls and they were all amazing. The volcano roll had a strong cream cheese flavor but was still really good. I wish I took pictures of the food but we ate so fast I didn't have a chance haha. Favorite roll was the Rock and Roll - my husband was worried about the "chef special sauce" but holy moly....it was out of this world. The Hot night, tiger and golden dream were also super good. Happy hour all day Sunday. I cannot say enough good. YUMMMM read more

Went here for dinner with my mom tonight! The staff were friendly and helpful and I enjoyed the ambience of this place. It was a little busy, but the wait time wasn't long (Wednesday night). We ordered salmon sashimi, the hot night specialty roll, chicken katsu, and the seafood dynamite. In addition, we also ordered edamame and gyoza for our appetizers (not pictured). I enjoyed the edamame and the gyoza was perfectly crispy! The salmon sashimi was fresh and tasty and the hot night roll was just the right amount of spice for me! I love how they put eel sauce and spicy mayo on this, it really adds to the flavor! The chicken katsu came in a generous portion size that we enjoyed and the seafood dynamite was a dish that we've never had before, but it was a pleasant surprise. My favorite was definitely the hot night roll! I would recommend this place and we will be coming back for more! read more

My family and I were so excited to see a new sushi spot pop up in the area because there aren't very many sushi restaurants in Gilbert. We were incredibly impressed with everything that we ordered. From the appetizers, to their rolls and even to their desserts, the quality of the food was amazing. And everything was beautifully plated too. Highly recommend the takoyaki, Blossom Roll as well as their signature Rock N Roll. We're sad we had just missed happy hour, but we'll definitely be coming back soon! read more

Oh where should I start! The food is incredible! We had the sushi love boat for my wife and I, Fish was so fresh! They gave us fresh Wasabi, which made the meal. Kids had the cali roll and the creamy cali roll, all delicious! Dessert was a tempura fried cheese cake! Wonderful! This may be my #2 or #1. I did notice they are Chinese owned! I could understand the wait staff , and they do care about the food and customers! Going to try the lunch bento and Ramen next! Great place! I'm not sure they serve alcohol though. read more

First time eating there recently. It was very busy Sunday afternoon, but we only waited 10 minutes to get seated. Had the sashimi platter, which was excellent. My only complaint would be the service was over the top in terms of they want you to order almost immediately when you arrive. We like to relax and have a glass of wine before dinner and during dinner, but it was very much a high turnover feeling. read more

This place is amazing ! I live across the street and didn't realize it was there until a few weeks ago . I have not yet sat down inside . We have ordered take out several time and the staff has always been kind . This place is busy all the time so be ready to wait if you want to sit down as it's a small ( less than 10 table ) place . The ramen is very good as is the sushi and yakisoba. I recommend to anyone look for a good , small and local place to get Japanese food . This is my new fav place for sushi and Japanese food in general . read more

Sushi Rock & Grill should probably have a more authentic, high-end Japanese restaurant sounding name, imho, because the sushi is THAT GOOD. I ordered the sashimi lunch, a hamachi hand-roll, and tuna sashimi. I felt I had to tack on the maguro sashimi, because the tuna pieces on the sashimi lunch plate were so perfect and iridescent. A very much not-toro and not-bright-red color of pleasingly colored yellowfin tuna, like I haven't run across in some three decades or so - Big pieces but NOT too big. I hate huge pieces of sashimi. Granted, I might be exaggerating, since I was so hungry and craving good fish, but for the middle of the Sonoran Desert, Sushi Rock & Grill is darn good! - Even a little bit "authentic." Next time I will have to have that wonderful looking bbq ika (squid / "calamari") I saw on another guy's plate, on my way out the door or maybe I'll suggest that the chef order some fresh salmon skin or that they add yellowtail collar or a grilled saba or sukiyaki or Zaru Soba to the menu - Or even better, I'll just order some more absolutely perfect sashimi and a couple of excellently assembled hand rolls, with perfectly crisp nori, and go to town! Yum!! read more

Nice service and people, but I prefer a little more authentic Japanese/sushi. Fish was good, the place is very popular and I've never seen it less than 1/2 full no matter what. Besides ramen, I don't think there a Japanese restaurant with sushi within 10+ miles of this place. read more

The sushi here is on point! They have a decent happy hour as well. The only thing I don't care for and I can't believe I am even saying this is that the wait staff are overbearing when it comes to constantly asking if you need something or to clear your dirty dishes. They want to refill your drinks even if they aren't close to empty or empty. read more

I love that you can order online & it is always made correctly. I'm pregnant & have been craving Nobu & Sushi Rock & Grill. It's so hard to find edible cooked sushi. SR&G does a great job esp for the price. The Tootsie Roll is so simple, but perfect. They also know how to make Tamago. They always make sure everything is cooked well for me & even add extra daikon noodles. They're a great new local Sushi place. I appreciate you. read more

We went here on a rainy Saturday night with 2 young kids. We loved everything we ate - the fish was as fresh as it can get. The Ramen was Japanese style and just what I remember from the San Francisco area. My son's, kids meal, was large. His chicken teriyaki was fantastic. The teriyaki came in the side, which is great for picky eaters. We ordered the love boat and it's a variety of sushi and sashimi. It's served with homemade Wasabi sauce and we LOVED it. We are so glad we now have our favorite sushi place in Gilbert, within walking distance to our home. The service was fantastic which we find is lacking everywhere else in the industry at the moment. We will be back to check out the happy hour this week. read more

I also got to try the yakiniku, and that was also pretty good but very sweet. Their Boo Yah Ka roll was also pretty yummy. It's essentially a spring roll, but with some spice and citrus to it. The next thing we know, round two. It was unbelievable. What was even crazier was they didn't send the staff member home! No one came over & said a word. No one apologized or said anything. After all of this, they sat couple with us. Finally the chef came to the table. By this time it was 20 til 6:00. Hubby got the filet with fried rice. I got the shrimp with fried rice. The food was good. However, hubby's steak was over cooked. Thankfully, hubby told the chef he wanted to change the steak from medium to medium rare, or it would have been even more over cooked. I also watch all of the employees but one prepping the food without gloves. This used to be our go to place for, but now with all this issues this time, we will probably have to find a new place.

We did not have a reservation and the only open seating was at the bar or high tops in the bar area. We were quickly greeted and our server was incredibly on top of it! I noticed that the main menu had a line at the bottom that stated a gluten-free menu would be available upon request. I did ask to see this menu as gluten-free is my dietary preference, not an allergyand I was brought a complementary gluten-free bun instead of the pretzel bread. I thanked our server and told him not to worry that it was just a preference and he told me that he treats all gluten friendly requests as an allergy. I really appreciated the care and concern he had for my health and well-being. This is unprecedented at most restaurants. They had a very extensive gluten-free menu and I can't wait to go back and try so many more items. We did try the Leonard burger and made quite a few modification requests - all of which were 100% accommodated. This burger was so incredibly juicy! Finally, the baby back ribs were the star for me personally because you can actually taste the pork for its quality. I usually expect a super sweet sauce that bogs me down after with ribs, but these ones left me feeling able to still go on about my day which I love. They aren't shake off the bone tender but I liked the gentle chew they provide. Overall, I recommend Joe's to anyone who cares more about the ingredient sourcing and quality while enjoying a nice family friendly vibe for a lunch/dinner.
