Miso soup was hot and full of tofu and seaweed (unlike some restaurants). Chef Joe was very nice (and extremely well informed when it comes to sushi) he used to work at world famous Nobu. I trust yelp reviews, and I hope you trust mine! We showed up about 9pm on a Friday night. We sat at the bar, and we're pleasantly surprised with the friendliness and speed of the service. We ordered a jb roll, spider roll and both were great. I actually think this was the best jb roll I ever had! The finale was the scallop bomb which was AMAZING! (Pictured below). I went there for the first time today. The sushi was good however the o-toro was way overpriced for the portion served. At $19.99 per piece of O-toro. Same with the Nodoguro was also $19.99 a piece and it was flavorful but 20 bucks for a piece of sushi is ridiculous for a strip mall sushi joint. The real surprise was when I ordered 2 salmon hand rolls with avocado. They were underwhelming on size and cost $11.99 each, a real ripoff for the portion. What made me most uncomfortable was when the owner berated his wait staff in front of me saying it was unprofessional that she asked me if I wanted rice or no rice as a re-iteration of them asking me if I wanted sushi or sashimi for the o-toro and the Nodoguro. He acted very unprofessional saying that they were unprofessional and made me feel quite uncomfortable Also, when the chef served me my hand rolls he gestured to the server that I take the few slices of ginger off the sushi plate and put it on the hand roll plate. So cheap and low class. The quality of the fish was good but the portion size for the price was a rip off and the atmosphere was uncomfortable. 2 pieces of o-toro =$39.98 1 piece of Nodoguro =$19.99 2 salmon hand rolls with avocado $23.98 1 small Fiji water = $5.00 So with the tip it was $115.00 for 'that' lunch. I'm from Boston, and a huge sushi fan, and have been to many of the "big name" restaurants in Boston, New York, San Francisco and Seattle and my experience at Sushigo last Thursday with Mr. Joe was the best I've ever had! Mr. Joe told me that he made his first roll at age 6, and has worked in many sushi restaurants including NOBU in South Beach, and it definitely shows. I sat at the bar and we had a terrific chat while he asked me what I did/didn't like, then proceeded to create a series of spectacular dishes, including some perfect oysters with jalapeno and a special soy sauce, followed by an order of thinly sliced scallops on cucumber, seared with hot oil. the Hamachi was excellent, and the nigiri (eel, tuna, Scottish salmon) was exceptional. I finished everything off with a "custom" roll, which had tempura shrimp and avocado, and was topped with salmon, tuna, and escolar, which is a fish I tend to avoid because of it's reputation for causing intestinal issues, but even the couple of pieces of that were delicious. I highly recommend Sushigo for anyone in the Boca Raton area, and only wished I lived in Florida as this would definitely be my go-to restaurant! read more

The service was slow and somewhat inattentive, but I did not experience the ineptitude that ruined another reviewer's experience of Sushigo. For me, the sushi quality made up for less-than-steller service. I'd like to think my bare minimum tip sent a signal, too, but unprofessional servers are more likely to diss a diner than self-critique, alas! I was really interested in this place after seeing several Facebook advertisements so finally my roommate and I decided to try it after work this evening. It's a very tiny place, probably about 8-10 tables. We sat down and immediately ordered after we ordered the server informed us it was last call and if we wanted something else we'd have to order it now so we told her we were ok with what we had ordered and she just kept insisting we order more. We were the only ones in the restaurant so it took us about 10-15 minutes to get our food. We at and the food was delicious, the sushi is spectacular. Haven't been to sushigo in quite a while but I must admit I was one of their earliest patrons when they opened. At that time, I was amazed at the quality of the food but underwhelmed with ambiance, and at that time, limited Menu. However, I continued to recommend it to my sushi loving friends because of the authenticity of Sushigo... Even friends visiting from Japan agreed that this is excellent sushi! Imagine my surprise to find a new creative menu with more expensive pricing and a packed dining room (oh how I worried a few years ago if Sushigo would survive in this space...but it's been discovered!) ... Even the decor has been fluffed up too, and table arrangements have been modified to accommodate more people in the restaurant but spacing between tables has diminished. In addition to the wonderful fresh fish selections (wow that Hamachi is amazing) I noticed wagyu beef(market price so please ask first or you will be in for a surprise on the check) on the menu and ordered it in an unusual way... Sushi... I recently had steak sushi at an amazing Japanese restaurant in Dallas with this selection so I was excited to try it here in Boca...ordered 3 pieces and it arrived lightly seared (medium rare) over rice and it was beyond words... Not overly salty, just absolutely delectable... Well, at $9.99 a piece it should be THAT GOOD ... Yikes, didn't expect that! I chose this place for a quick takeaway - and the name Sushi Go sounded like any other basic sushi place. It is small and located beside A phone repair shop and a T-shirt printers. I was aghast that some rolls are $99 each (the Louis Vuitton roll is what it was called on the menu. Most of the entries are close to $100. I ordered miso soup, house salad and a California roll. It was no better than shopping mall food court sushi. There salad dressing was very sour. What struck me the most was how small and run down it was , very cheap furniture like school cafeteria tables and the walls did not look clean. The menu prices are good for a giggle but the reality is they are no joke and the food just does not match the expectations you have of food priced so high. Also the staff are rude and I was asked to move twice from where they told me to sit and wait for my food and eventually I stand outside while I waited for my order. Most sushi places the sushi chefs enthusiastically greet every person that walks in - not this place. All the staff are grumpy. I wish I read the reviews before walking in. read more
