I am definitely a fan of this tiny place! Went here for lunch with my boyfriend and my brother a while back. The food here is delicious and very on point. They had lunch specials that included an entree, rice (steamed, brown, or fried), small salad, and fried wantons. We ordered pad thai, panang curry, and chicken w/ basil leaves. My boyfriend got the pad thai so he didn't want any rice... and our server was nice enough to offer him extra pad thai instead, which was pretty sweet. Our food came out fairly quick and everything looked and smelled amazing. I tried all the dishes and thought that the pad thai was good; the chicken w/ basil leaves was just okay and on the bland side... I would have liked it to have been more salty. My favorite out of the three dishes was the panang curry, which was very flavorful, perfectly sweet, and the right consistency. I love supporting hole in the wall type of places like this, where the food is authentically good and the service is outstanding. After reading other reviews of this place, I was expecting no tables & waiting a long time for our food. We went on a Sat around 3pm and got seated immediately. The waitress was very friendly and the food came right away. I could hear our food being freshly cooked as the kitchen was right behind the partition. I ordered Spicy Noodle (Pad Kee Mow). The waitress asked me how hot I would like it...medium spicy or very spicy. I love spicy so I ordered it "very spicy". It was so spicy though that I had to order a side of white rice to counteract the hotness. It was delicious! Next time I would order it medium spicy so I could eat more of it! My husband ordered the Cashew Chicken dinner special. It came with a good Tom Yum soup and Shrimp Fried Rice. Although my husband liked his dish, I thought it was a little bland (maybe because my mouth was on "FIRE"). The waitress was very attentive to us and filled our water glasses whenever we ran low. 3 stars is a little high, but I hate to knock on a place that was just fair, especially since they are so small and were friendly. A friend who is usually very reliable brought a group here for lunch. I found the food too Americanized. I prefer my Thai food to be more authentic and spicier (not just hotter). I can't recall what I ate, but that shows how un-memorable the food was. Some sort of curry, with a weak soup and bland rice. My friends liked the food, but no one was raving about it. The place is really small. It is family owned and is NOT open on Sunday. Friday evening, it would really get busy. If you are very hungry, I prob will not recommend you come here. Now, I just call to make my order to go. I haven't had any bad experience with them yet. I did hear if you come in rush hour time, the phone will not go through. The Thai ice tea is $2.5. I love their pad thai regardless meats, seafood, and combo, which is $9.99 now (used to be $8.99). It came with a big plate which allows you to share with two people. I also had curry there once that was also enough for two people. I had shrimp cakes but it was not what I thought when I had in Taiwan. Curry is also good too! The first thing I noticed was that this restaurant is extremely small. It can hold maybe max 15-20 people all together. The second thing I noticed that it got voted best Thai Restaurant Per Square Foot by OC Weekly. After eating our dinner, I seriously thought that of course this restaurant got voted best Thai per square foot since there possibly couldn't be a smaller Thai restaurant. Fried Wontons - These were your standard wontons filled with ground chicken. It was good and probably my favorite dish of our meal, but it's kind of hard to mess up fried wontons. Beef Larb - One of my favorite dishes to order at Thai restaurants is the Larb. For those of you who don't know Larb is a type of southeast salad. It usually consists of some kind of protein (beef, chicken, pork) mixed with lime juice, fish sauce, chilli, mint and assorted vegetables. The one great thing about Larb is the fact that it has some kind of toasted rice (think rice krispies in a tangy sour slightly spicy salad mixture). But, unfortunately the Beef Larb completely fails at Sutha Thai Kitchen. It lacked in flavor and the quality of the ground beef was not up to par. The most disappointing thing about the Beef Larb that it was completely missing the toasted rice component. Panang Curry with Chicken - The Panang Curry was good. I didn't find anything exceptional about it. But a star for Sutha Thai Kitchen for not messing it up. Overall the service was very friendly, but the food was not as good. I've been coming to Sutha Thai for about 6 years now. I've loved every dish I have gotten. The yellow curry, the pad thai, shrimp fried rice, pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles, pad see ew it's all delicious. Oh and not to forget the cream cheese wontons and mango sticky rice. They survived the pandemic and I am so happy they did because I truly enjoy their food and service. The service has never been a problem, they are always so warm and welcoming with a smile on their face. Their take out portions don't compare to their seat inside portions though, I think it's due to the size tupperware they have, to be honest. So happy there's such a good Thai food place with an amazing lunch special so close to my work. I got the Panang curry with beef and it came with rice, two fried wontons and a cup of soup (or salad). The soup that day was Tom Yum with tofu. I really liked everything. The Panang was just the way I like it-- creamy, rich, spicy and full of that coconut flavor. The service was wonderful. We've done take away at this restaurant about 10 times over the last 12 months and we've never had a bad experience. The place is small and I'm not sure what the dine-in experience is, but with COVID they've added some nice outside tables. I went in last night for my first time. My local Thai restaurant was closed and will be for next 2 weeks so I tried Sutha. My other spot is now my old spot because Sutha is the best Thai food I've ever had and I'm a eater. Zach was or waiter and server he was very cool and had a lil extra time to talk because it was a lil slow. He help me with menu items that are best sellers then with his favorites. All in all it was the best Thai experience I've ever had. A lil small in size, but the tiny places always have the biggest flavor!!!! Read good reviews on yelp so we decided to give it a try. Phoned in an order of chicken yellow curry (medium spice) and chicken pad Thai for takeaway, man on phone said it would be ready in 25mins. Pick up was an easy transaction everything was ready when I arrived to pick up (25mins exactly) Pad Thai and yellow curry were both delicious. Yellow curry is in my top best yellow curries I've had in Orange County, creamy, good chicken and tender but not too tender potatoes. Price is very reasonable for quality and portion, definitely can be shareable if you have an average appetite. read more

This place is great! It's a real gem mom/pop's place. Went here for lunch twice and enjoyed the food both times. Friendly, attentive service and their prices are quite affordable. The first time there, I questioned the authenticity/taste considering they had orange chicken, Mongolian beef, and kung pao chicken on the menu. However, after having some pad woon sen and spicy basil leaves beef, I would say they still retain a nice Thai flavor while trying to cater to the typical American taste. For 6.50, you have a variety of choices for the main dish that comes with tom yum/tom ka soup (depends on the day I guess) or salad, choice of rice. and fried wonton. While I loved the basil leaves with the spicy sauce, IMO the beef was a bit overcooked since I like it more tender/rare. If you like your food spicier than what you ordered, they usually bring out four types of chili that could bring on a four alarm fire if used in the wrong hands. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for a nice fulfilling lunch that doesn't make you feel bloated or overwhelmed. I usually leave stuffed but in a good way. read more

If it's Americanized Thai food you are looking for, then you will enjoy Sutha. If your in the mood for authentic thai food, then you will want to go elsewhere. Chicken with Basil - Traditionally, this dish is served with mince meat and basil. Here it's served with pieces of chicken and they add in onions and bell peppers. Taste wise, it was too sweet for my preference. Pad Thai - The pad thai was sweeter than what i typically am used to, but this was the best dish out of everything i ordered. Pineapple Fried Rice - Bland. It was more like regular fried rice with pieces of pineapple and raisins thrown in. I would have enjoyed a bit more curry taste and if the pineapple were cooked a bit more to soften them. Nam Sod (Thai spicy pork sausage salad) - It tasted they way it should...salty and sour. The dish was offered in it's most basic form. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. The restaurant is very small, so i suggest doing take out. It says they deliver, but if they are very busy they will ask you to pick up because the wait time given to me was over an hour. This restaurant had such high ratings that i set my expectations too high....or maybe if i had read that the high reviews are based on americanized-thai food then i wouldn't have been as disappointed. This place is definitely better than the other local alternative, Thai Spice. I haven't tried any other independent thai places in the area....so i will keep hunting. read more

Good Thai food in the Tustin/Irvine area is hard to find. Hence, when I noticed the 4-star rating for Sutha Thai Kitchen on Yelp, I had to try it out for myself. I think the food itself ranges from 3 to 4 stars, depending on what you order. However, the lack of air conditioning in this tiny "hole-in-the-wall" diner gives it 3 stars, in my opinion. The Spring Rolls were very fresh and tasty. Definitely worked as an appetizer to prep my palate for the other dishes to come. 3.5-Stars. The Green Curry is very good. The eggplant in the dish is cooked perfectly - not overdone, not slimy - perfect. I also really liked the beef in this dish. We ordered it "Spicy" and I thought it could have had a little more kick to it, but hubby thought it was quite spicy enough. 4-Stars for the Green Curry. The spicy flat noodles we ordered tasted quite flavorful (we ordered it spicy), but I wasn't all that impressed. The noodles were all clumped together, a bit mushy, and sort of a broken mess. The chicken seemed a bit dry. All the veggies in this dish (bell peppers, onions, etc) were very good, though... not overly cooked, crunchy and flavorful. 3-Stars. I noticed that most of the business for Sutha Thai Kitchen seemed to come from its steady flow of "Take-Out" patrons. It's a really tiny place and quite easy to miss. It's in a tiny little strip mall next to Tustin Lanes, and across the street from Michaels. Next time, I think I'll order Take-Out and stick with the Green Curry. read more

We got the panang curry with beef and pineapple fried rice with chicken ($8.99 each). The curry was very good. Thick and tasty with a slight kick. The fried rice was too salty and did not have any flavor. I would not recommend the fried rice. Tiny little shop. People working there are nice but they seemed a bit overwhelmed with a full house. The wait for food was also considerably long. Overall, food was ok. I might stop by if I'm in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. I recommend the panang curry with rice. read more

We have been going to Sutha Thai on and off for years. The older guy is very nice and have even seen him shopping around the local Albertson's a couple of times and sat there to BS with him. They also have a nice young lady whom I have dealt with a few times via the phone for pick up orders. Tonight Instead of my wife stopping in on the way home from work to pick up I decided we could both lazy and order through DoorDash. I ordered all my normal items I order, Phad Thai, Angel Wings and of course the roasted duck curry but instead of red curry I always order it with Panag curry. Normally I order Tom Kah Guy soup as well but with the wings it would have been way to much for my wife and I. The menu is a little goofy when ordering online, you order the roasted duck curry and it makes you choose any meat but duck. That is sort of retarded on DoorDashes part. Gee I will have roasted duck curry with uuuuh beef! Herp derp obviously if you order roasted duck curry you want the roasted duck :p Now to complicate it I did ask for panag style curry vs nasty red curry. I have done this plenty of times in the past and they give me an odd look but have always done it without issue. A few minutes after I place the order I get a call from a kid I can barely hear but made out that he was rather perturbed I ordered the duck and expected duck... WTF! He stated "I'll be charging you 4 more dollars for duck" in the roasted duck curry!!!! But here is the killing customer service line.... "or else I'm not making it for you." and the tone was soooooo flippant it was disgusting it was the sort of tone that you expect from the whiny little tattle tale kid in the neighborhood. At that point I was done and just said fine cancel the order, at that point with the attitude I did not want to spend my money with them. To make it worse he did not even bother to notify Doordash the order was canceled and let the poor delivery guy (an independent contractor) show up after the order had been canceled thus wasting his time and money. This place is so good! It is a tiny little restaurant, but most Thai restaurants aren't too big. The people I was with highly recommended the yellow curry, so I ordered it. It was delicious! I asked for it to be spicy and I was a little concerned that it would be too spicy, but it was actually perfect. Next time I come here, I'm going to try the pad thai. That looks really good too. The servings are a good size and the price is affordable. This is a place to go if you want good Thai food for lunch or take out. This is a small mom and pop shop with limited seatings and parkings, and it can be hard to find if you don't know where to look. My friend and I ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Pad Woon Sen, and Chicken Musamun. We liked Pad Woon Sen the least, kind of bland and not that special. According to my friend, the Chicken Pad Thai was a good pad thai but not the best and I thought it was pretty tasty. We liked the Musamun the best, it was very flavorful and rich. We weren't able to try the mango with sticky rice because mango isn't in season and they weren't able to find good mangoes. Overall, it's not an amazing place but it's good enough to feel satisfied.
