OK, went to this restaurant that has ever changing moods. It was on the weekend and of course there was a line down the block. I've seen in previous reviews that the line goes pretty fast. I noticed that this line did not move very fast; I think because they were trying to lineup the exact amount of peeps to the table. I think this really slows them down. I viewed 4 sometimes 5 empty tables before I realize what they were doing. This bothered me. I felt this was very one-sided for the business and not for the customers which should be somewhere in between. Someone came out to manage the line and get the number of peeps in each group. They have a counter which was pretty wide open, but they require that you stand in line still. My friend and I are big fans of the millionaires bacon. She's richer than I am so she buys the whole platter. I got a millionaires egg sandwich that was just so good. I secretly think my friend was envious of my millionaires (1/2 the cost) sandwich. But it really didn't matter since we always split the bill in half. IDK; maybe we should go Dutch.~ JK . Of course we got our mimosas. They are the best here at this location; compared to Cupertino location, anyway. Such a great breakfast. The staff is friendly and top-notch. Great experience this time. This is our third time visiting Sweet Maple. Twice at this location and once in Cupertino; which was a huge disappointment. Since this is my neck of the woods, I think I might try the Palo Alto location. This may be a franchise and that's why there's so many differences in the locations as far as food, drink and ambience. They were kind enough to seat us even before our full party arrived, and we all really enjoyed our food. Service continued to be wonderful throughout the meal. Benedicts - each Benedict I've tried here is so tasty. Hollandaise is perfect and even the veggie (florentine) version has lots of flavor. For me the eggs could be cooked a minute longer (they serve their whites slightly runny) but overall it's great. House potatoes - need to give a shoutout here. They are doing some black magic with these potatoes. It's creamy to the point of mashed potatoes on the inside with a perfect soft crisp on the exterior. YUM. The Tequila in Bloom cocktail was amazing, got two and half of it went to my girlfriend even though she had her own drink. I got the test kitchen special omurice which was delicious. Came here for a Sunday brunch around 10:30am and only waited 10ish minutes for a table outside! The service was so quick, our food was out within 10 minutes. We ordered and received our food in less than 10 minutes (the server said they had a staff or 20 in the kitchen). The food was absolutely amazing! I ordered the original eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was creamy and had a subtle hint of lemon. The potatoes were cooked perfectly. Probably the best eggs Benedict I've had. I also tasted the deep fried French Toast and banana which was great. It wasn't very sweet and the banana complimented the French toast the Fried rice and millionaires bacon was our is this world. The bacon was cooked perfectly and was sweet and salty. What a great place. There was plenty of seating but make sure you have time to find parking. We found parking about block away (metered). Loud and poor attitude. It was a Friday afternoon. My friends and I waited for 30 minutes for breakfast. This is my first time to this restaurant. I was surprised at how loud it was inside. Imagine 50 + people shouting at each other in a tight space. I almost lost my voice after lunch. Breakfast was not cheap but typical San Francisco prices. $25 for a basic omelette. $7 for a small pot of tea. The water in the pot was lukewarm. I asked for a pot of hot water and the server rolled his eyes. This restaurant is popular because there is no competition for breakfast around this area, not because it is good. I can't believe I really spent close to $60 just for a deep fried French toast, hot chocolate, and a bunch of add-ons. My fault because the price is clearly listed on the menu, but when everything is nickel and dimed, it just isn't worth it. In my opinion, if I'm paying $16 for a piece of french toast, it might as well come with the fruits, potatoes, and egg instead of making it a $5 add-on for each item. The food is good but the wait is stupid long (there's usually a line spilling into the sidewalk at most hours of the weekend, it's not unusual to wait an hour). I've been twice and my more memorable dish was the frisco scramble (big chunks of avocado, nice and cheesy, well-toasted bread, good potatoes). My friend also got an omurice which was tasty. They do some of that asian fusion for dishes while maintaining classics. I wouldn't go out of my way to get Sweet Maple (it's also very similar to Kitchen Story and some other brunch spots in city) but since I live in the neighborhood it's okay. When in the city you must try this brunch spot. Though the lines can get long and parking can be tough, this is the perfect place to yap and drink bottomless mimosas with friends. They were extremely accommodating with their policy that everyone had to get bottomless or you can't get it by allowing two of our drivers to opt out of the requirement. They were extremely kind and the service was superb and kept a brave face after being berated by another customer. Our party enjoyed the food paired with the mimosas. If you want something strong get the AMF mimosa. Food prices are a little bit higher than most places but I personally think it's worth it. Even though there was a line out the door when we arrived around 10:00am, the wait wasn't bad (~15 minutes). Once we ordered, our food came out ~10 minutes. Our order: Savory Souflegg Skillet ($27.00): +Huge portion +Eggs were soft and fluffy. +Shrimp were plump. +Bacon was nicely rendered and crispy. +Potato medley included a variety of regular and sweet potatoes. +Ciabatta au levain toast wasn't hard. -As some reviews mentioned, the closer you got to the edges of the skillet, the smokier the dish tasted. It tasted like charcoal. -Monotonous after a while: It would be nice if there were some mix-ins. -Salty Hass Omelette ($25.00), substitute mixed fruit ($5.00) for potato medley: -Not my order, but dining companion thought the omelette was salty. The variety in the mixed fruit was appreciated. *Verdict: 3.5 stars rounded down to 3.
