This traditional Taiwanese hot pot was vertically unique in its concept! We were seated right away and given a few moments for ordering. I ordered the veggie hot pot extra spicy. To my disappointment it was not spicy at all. But the good part was that there was a chilli salt, satay sauce, chilli oil readily available at our table! The quantity I give 5/5, service I felt could've used some work. We had to wait quite a while for servers to coke around with the broth I felt my ingredients were really over cooked by then. Flavor wise the veggie was not that flavorful, I tried the beef since my friend got that and it was pretty much the same. I was expecting a little more when it came to flavor. Was craving soup and Tasty Pot caught my eye on Yelp. If you have ever been to Boiling Point, it kind of reminds me of that chain. They have multiple options of broths that you can choose from and it comes with meat and veggies in the pot for you. I got the cheesy milk and to be honest, it wasn't my cup of tea, but at the same time, it was not bad either. They were also very generous with the meat and veggies. The food itself wasn't bad, but everything else about this restaurant was disappointing. Service was poor from the start -- ordering is done through a QR code, so there was almost no interaction with staff. The hot pot was brought out with fire already going, but no one explained how to manage it, which was really frustrating as a first-time hot pot customer. The atmosphere didn't help either -- loud rock music blasted in the dining area while staff in the kitchen had their own music turned up as well. The tables and booths were dirty, water was served in cheap plastic cups, and sauces came in plastic containers, which just made the experience feel low quality. To make things worse, the prices were way higher than other soup places like pho or ramen spots in the area, yet the portions were much smaller -- mostly cabbage with very little meat. For hot pot around the valley and towards Ventura County, this is pretty good! The pre-selected hot pots are super tasty as I ordered the healthy veggie with Thai broth. The Thai broth was very good, similar to a Tom Yum which was pretty flavorful. I loved the amount of veggies they put in, but it was mostly cabbage (not a bad thing). The boba was good too, I got the taro milk tea! Despite all the good, the service was a bit slow and I think they may have been understaffed which is understandable. This location is very close to CSUN, which means it gets very packed! We came around 7:30 on a Sunday, and there were no open tables available! We waited about 15 minutes for a table for three people, which wasn't bad considering how many tables were full and how few employees there were working at this location! We were told how to order through the QR code, but we quickly realized that it didn't allow for us to remove certain items from the hotpot! We were able to ask one employee for assistance, and he was extremely helpful! He took our order for us and helped us customize the hotpot bowls to our liking! It took about 10 minutes to receive our food, and they were huge portions! We all got the healthy veggie options with different broths and spice levels! The flavor was delicious, but there was way too much cabbage in the soup! It made it difficult to find the other veggies that had fallen to the bottom of the bowl! Overall, the meal was delicious, and they have some tasty sauces to customize the dipping sauce to your liking! I was able to take some of the hot pot home to have as another meal at home! I will be coming back because of how friendly the staff is and how delicious and comforting the meal was! It was easy to have a conversation and still enjoy a quiet meal if that's your preference! It was our first time and we will be back. The selection was great for the price. We got two hot pots and they were enough to share with our two kids. The meats, veggies and broth were perfect for the cold day. They make it so easy to add on more if you want. And if your broth looks low they come by and add more. When we told our server it was our first time he was so nice to make sure we knew how to choose the best hot pot for us. He explained everything and made suggestions. He was so attentively even after our pots were dropped off to make sure we knew how to throughly enjoy it. The place was almost all booths and packed. My wife and I was finally able to try this hot pot place out after hearing such good things about it from my sister. We come to the plaza that this place is in a lot but never visited this restrauant. Finding parking last night was difficult because some CSUN students park there. When we walked in, we were seated right away since they weren't busy. The staff are very nice and will answer any questions you have. You can order with them or scan the QR code and order from your phone. My wife went with the Japanese Miso Hot Soup and I went with the Beef Hot Soup. I wasn't sure what vermicelli was so I had to ask. My wife also ordered their Rose Milk Tea and Passion Fruit Green Tea. We thought the soup was good, they give you alot of side dishes in the soup already. So even though you don't get a lot of noodles, you'll get full from the dish. As I entered the restaurant, I was immediately greeted by a friendly staff member and seated very quickly. The service was outstanding with a server constantly checking on me and offering to add broth to my hot pot and fill my water glass. I ordered the beef hot pot and it was very good. The way you order is to pick a protein and I chose the beef, which also came with meatballs, tofu, fried tofu skin, clams, fish cake, and imitation crab meat. A very odd combination, but it worked very well together. Next select your spicy level from none to flaming spicy. I chose the second highest spice level of spicy. I really like spicy food and this was the perfect level for me. Next, you choose between steamed rice, fried rice, or some veggies. I chose the steamed rice. Lasty, you get a drink of either green tea, black, tea, or water. I chose the water. I will definitely return and it you like hot pots, you should check this out as well. My only complaint would be the place is located in a crowded shopping center and parking is very hard to find. Brave the parking, it is worth it. read more

The ambient is nice and the staff is very welcoming, attentive and friendly. The flavor matches all the other Tasty Pots in the SGV. Some differences are there's a lot more napa cabbage in the pot here, and they are cut smaller. The taro also are cut smaller. Their ice green tea seem and taste different from that of the one they serve in Alhambra, but I did not confirm if they use the same tea. I hate to give a lukewarm review to one of only two hotpot places in the valley, but Tasty Pot simply fell flat compared to Boiling Pot and Boba, which is just two blocks or so away. I got the lamb hot soup. The meat that Tasty Pot uses in their hotpot is not in nice slices. It has an almost ground meat consistency, a ball of meat that when broken apart turned into infinitesimal shreds of protein floating around in my soup. When you can't get a mouthful of meat with your chopsticks and need your spoon for that, something ain't right. It's like they took a handful of scraps that had fallen from the deli slicer of another hotpot restaurant that sold the scraps to them for cheap and plopped into in my hotpot. Awful quality. Their ingredients appeared to be haphazardly tossed in with little thought as to presentation, and they cheaped out on things like the enoki mushroom. I think there were five strands of those floating around in my soup. I also ordered the ramen add-on, but instead of getting the usual Shin ramen type noodles, it was this thinner noodle that just felt like cheaper quality. Starting out this review, I put in three stars. Now as I'm recalling all the things I didn't like about this place, I removed a star. Maybe my standards for hotpot is too high coming from the San Gabriel Valley, but hotpot shouldn't be this awful. Their only saving grace is the soup. read more

My favorite restaurant has finally opened in Northridge! I've visited other tasty pot locations through NorCal & SoCal and am so excited to see this location up in the SF Valley. They're still fairly new (was opened less than a week when I visited) so certain menu items are still blacked out / "coming soon". We ordered beef pot #1 (classic/ fan-favorite) / medium spicy (good kick but not overwhelming) & lamb pot (first time trying as I usually get the #7 kimchi pot but it wasn't on the menu that day). You get an option of side of vermicelli or rice, we always opt for rice & order side of udon & instant noodles (we share amongst the 2 of us). My favorite side add on is the fishball with roe as I don't know if any of the pots already come with it but it's so yummy. If you go during lunch time they offer free iced tea (black or green but green is our favorite). Their iced tea is soooo good and worth paying for if you don't end up going when it's free @ lunch. Dipping the meats & sides with the soybean chili paste is the best sauce, it's so addicting and perfect sauce with any of the soups you get. Bare with the staff, you can tell they're still getting into the groove of a newly opened restaurant but the food quality & taste is amazing and we will be coming back! read more

Cons: Ordering from the app was more painful than necessary, and when we took some items off the order (e.g. taro), it still came with it. I prefer a range of condiments for dipping sauces, but there's only four. The full menu wasn't available. The no spice base soup for my kids was very herbally, so they didn't each much (but mine was better with mild spice which helped tone that down).
