I've been coming to Thai Kitchen for over 30 years -- yes, three decades! From their very first location to now only having the Guadalupe spot left, this place has been a staple in my life. And let me tell you, no one -- and I mean no one -- makes Phad Thai like they do. It's hands-down the BEST in Austin. Period. The food? Always fire. The service? Fast, friendly, and beyond helpful. The vibe? Clean, welcoming, and full of good energy. Today I brought my whole family in -- we had the beef salad, some desserts, and every bite was a 10/10. Thai Kitchen never misses. If you haven't eaten here, you're seriously missing out on one of Austin's true gems.

This is my second time coming here, and this time I brought my friend! We had the green Thai tea and the regular Thai tea. They were both delicious and the green one was more floral. I got the shrimp fried rice again with SPICY yomwunsen this time. It was really spicy for me but it was still good. Service was outstanding as usual! And like I said before, it's a great place for a cute night out with your friends! It's very chill.

We came on a Saturday and there were a lot of seats. Got a nice sized parking lot we ordered the crispy pork belly, dynamite squid, tom kha, and fried rice. Funny enough, the dynamite squid (we got it mild bc apparently it's really spicy as is) and fried rice tastes like the stir fries in Taiwan in the best way possible. Loved it. We also liked the pad thai too. The tom kha is on the sour side and it tasted more flavorful when you add some chili fish sauce into it. Service was fast and friendly as well :)

I've been hearing about this Austin staple of a Thai place for years. I'm so glad I came in! It's a little spot that feels so cozy and the service is spot on. Our server was present, helpful, and gave us great recommendations on food. We had the Khai Look Kory (Son in Law), Yen Toe-Fo (Pink Soup), and Tears but Joy (with fish). The Son in Law was a real surprise that had such great flavor with good textures as well. The Pink Soup was so delicious with the fat noodles, chicken, and seafood. I think the broth was really on point and tasted like a homey dish. The Tears but Joy is just that; spicy but amazingly delicious. The flavor of the sauce was really something special. Make sure to get some extra water because it's hot! I can't wait to come back and try many more of their dishes.

I finish the plate in 10 minutes. So good

Friendly staff. The pad zee eew was pleasantly delicious and paired it with the tom kha. If you're in town and looking for a spot for Asian food would recommend. I'll look forward to doing a 10 lbs pad Thai challenge soon

Besides the food being absolutely delicious, the staff was excellent. They catered to us as if we were the only people there. I ordered the pineapple fried rice and was not disappointed one bit. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. This was an excellent experience! Can't wait to come back.

Best Thai food in Austin! Tom Kha Gai (coconut chicken soup) is wonderful and made with fresh, authentic ingredients..... I know because I make it at home. Pad Thai is excellent without the sweet red sauce or ketchup most local places use and it's not soupy. Drunken noodles with shrimp, great; curries etc, great. Best soft spring rolls with shrimp in town, made fresh to order... thus not chewy.

This place ROCKS! I've been coming here for many years and couldn't even count. I guess it's finally time to write a a review. We actually suppose to come eat next door but they were close. Hubby was hangry and we dropped into Thai Kitchen. Service was superb. The pad Thai isn't your typically food coloring orange like many other restaurant, Flavors were on point. I've tried their new ultimate malt coco drink which is a Thai spin on a chocolate milk. I'm hooked! read more

This place is consistently great. We have tried Thai restaurants all over Austin - some so-so and some great - but there's something about Thai Kitchen that has kept us coming back through the decades. When we are craving any particular Thai dish, it's almost always the Thai Kitchen dish we are craving. We know when we go we will get "that" dish and not some new fangled version of it. First of all the restaurant is always clean when I have visited here over the past 20 years. Staff has always been very attentive and helpful. I have never gotten a dish I didn't like. Maybe to spicy for me but they will adjust if you ask up front. I love their pad Thai here. Some say it's too sweet but it's my go to. I also get the crispy vegetable spring roll with the sweet red dipping sauce. Tonight I got a Vietnamese iced coffee because I need to stay up and study for school. This place has everything I need. Thai Kitchen was not remarkable, sadly. I got their Pad See Eew and it was mostly sugar. It was mostly just the flat noodles in its overly sweet, supposedly premade sauce. -That's according to the hostess at least. I was disappointed because I really wanted them to be amazing due to their close proximity to my office. Other than that, the ambience was nice and the place seemed clean. But that sugar sauce! If there's only one thing I could say about Thai Kitchen, it's that customer service is absolutely amazing. This place has a very laid back vibe but you'll still feel taken care of. We ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and Pad See Ew with beef. I really liked the spice tray they offered us, allowing us to "customize" the tastes of our dishes. The Pad See Ew and Pad Thai felt a bit too sweet for my liking, so the spice dish came in handy. We ended up clearing the plates and left feeling happy. read more

I got their Pad Thai, a dish I don't often get as I often got the route of Drunken Noodles but I wanted to revisit Pad Thai so that was the direction I took foe this meal. It was very, very good ! The ingredients were fresh, the sauce and noodles were great! It was a decent sized meal which I appreciated as we had a very busy day ahead of us with shopping and being tourists and this meal was one of virtually all of the meals in Austin to be great to outstanding!

Tom kha soup - I thought this was very good and had a decent amount of chicken and mushrooms Overall I liked everything but some items I felt I had better versions of elsewhere. It's also on the pricier side. Still, if in central Austin I think it's a solid choice for Thai food.

Thai Kitchen is one of the better Thai places around UT campus. Their prices are reasonable (they recently raised their prices) for a nice helping of food that'll leave you stuffed. My favorite is their pad thai, so much so I get really weird pad thai cravings now. My boyfriend always tries something different when he's there. With every large menu comes some hit and misses, especially with foreign food. Tiger Cry is a good one, although it smells a bit weird cause of the bamboo and stuff. It offers a mixture of sweet and tangy then BAM! spices are exploding in your mouth. It was an awesome dish discovery. If the entrees don't tie you over, get their coconut ice cream with sticky rice or mango with sticky rice. I would buy 5 and eat that for dinner if I could. One thing I should make very clear: If you are looking for waiters to coddle you with sweet cordial attention you will not find it here. I don't say this in a bad way, I actually prefer it when I don't have a waiter walking by every 5 minutes. TK waiters will come by and fill your water and check on you here and there, but they also give you your personal space to eat in peace. This may come off as rude to some people, I don't really care. They're open late, and for this I love them. Mind you, my rating would be higher if I had more of a stomach for extremely spicy food. My sweetie is a hot pepper-oholic and would probably give Thai Kitchen 4 or 5 stars. They are definitely consistent. We love the ol' folks that run the place. I always get the chicken 3A or the chicken 22 (red curry with bamboo shoot or indian curry with cucumber) and my date always orders off the super-spicy menu (which uses "bird pepper", extremely hot). I love the names of the spicy dishes - Cry Now, Love and Cry, etc.. I could eat a gallon of their cucumber salad (puts Thai Passion's salad to shame). Their pad thai is not very good. You can tell the mastermind behind this place prefers the hot stuff. Although he did once tell me that he loved the Indian curry chicken which is relatively mild and what I order when I'm not feeling up for the "hot hot" red curry. I feel like they blow out the flavor of the red curry dish a little too much with the pepper. They do use good cuts of white meat chicken, but their portions are rather small for the price. Situated just north of the hoppin' drag, Thai Kitchen humbly awaits your hungry stomach. The inside is not luxurious but with the fish tank and homey vibes, you definitely feel comfortable. This is a great place to impress someone for a date or event take your parents when they come to town. My ex was psycho about spicy food so he loved this place. He talked about the "Tiger Cry" dish for days after we ate it. He was sweating bullets the rest of the night, but he loved it. Thai Kitchen is in my opinion the best Thai food in Austin. My favorite is the Chicken pa Thai.. and the lemongrass coconut soup poured over steamed rice... yum yum.. go there for lunch and you get these tiny but oh so yummy egg rolls... I have converted so many people to become huge Thai Food fans only because they ate here. Oh a great sauce to dip your egg rolls in or to pour over your meal.. Listen or read, i am not biased when it comes to Thai Food. I speak the truth coming from a Thai Mother and visiting grandma in Thailand 10 summers in a roll, from Elementary School to College. Thai Kitchen on the drag has the best soups in town! Most authentic Tom Yum and Tom Ka period!!!!! Their Pad Thai is very good as well. The Green and Red curries are like that of Grandma in Thailand. LEt me tell you this, if a Thai Restaurant has great soups and pad thai then most likely everything else is going to be good as well. While I think the divey white building has it's own charms, it's the menu that really sings. Especially if you like HOT. Thai Kitchen offers a deep and extensive selection, but the first page of the menu is all FIVE PEPPER dishes -- and when they say hot, they mean it. With names like "Hurts So Good" and "Crying Now," these choices are not for everyone, but if you can handle the heat, you will love Thai Kitchen. "Nuclear Fishin'" is my favorite Thai curry (green) ever, served over a tender fillet. I have been defeated by a few dishes on this now-infamous page, but I'll keep coming back for more. We dropped in just to try a few "new to us" appetizers - the fish cakes and the "son in law" - while we were in the area. They were both incredibly yummy, full of flavor, crispy, and cooked to perfection. We enjoy new experiences and this one didn't disappoint! We got the shrimp tempura, pork egg rolls, steamed dumplings to start. The shrimp tempura was very fresh, nice, and light. The pork egg rolls were also very crispy and flavorful. The steamed dumplings were nice and big. Our entrees we got pad see ew and pad woon sen. The pad woon sen was very savory, and the cabbage was crunchy, but there was maybe a little too much. At 18 I've been to this place more times than I have visited my grandparents(and I live in Mexico). This place is that good, every single dish is as authentic as can be. I order a different dish every time and they never disappoint. They specialize in Thai cuisine, but they also have some Vietnamese and Indian dishes that are equally as good. Some of my favorites are the Pho, Indian noddle soup, Tom ka soup, Tom yum soup, and the staple of the place the Nam Tok. Highly recommend for any ocassion. read more

As a minority, I have never been or seen anyone treated differently at this restaurant. My suggestion to anyone would be not to show up at a restaurant right before closing time, especially one that closes at midnight. Thai Kitchen is one of the few restaurants open until 12 a.m on a weekday which is very generous of them. The food here is great and has never let me down. As close to authentic Thai food as it can get! The restaurant is somewhat small, but to the point that it would feel crammed. I love pretty much all of their dishes - and I make sure I try different one each time I visit. So far I can think of anything that I would never have again. Service is ok, but don't expect to get your glass filled each time when they are busy. Other than that there are on my go-to list whenever I'm on campus and I want some Thai food. read more

This place is pretty good. The interior is kind of blah- 2 stars, but the food is definitely 4 stars. I decided on 3 for the overall dining experience. I have tried two different indian curries. The first had coconut milk and lemongrass and was great! The second had potato, carrot, onion and wasn't as good, more like so-so. Each time I come here I am greeted so warmly. The manager Olivia knows exactly what I want and orders it for me. She even brings my favorite drink to the table. The thai green coconut milk is the best. I always have my usual, pad thai, drunken noodles, papaya salad,and fried fish. And they also have house made ice cream and fried bananas .
