Thai food is one of my favorites, and that's why I was excited to see this little food trailer move into our east central neighborhood. No culture balances its bold flavors better than our friends in Thailand. Mixing spice, sweet, savory, and strong ingredients into a balanced dish is quite the culinary rodeo. I ordered the Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, and Green Curry. Oh dear. While the price was light, so was the quality. Every bite tasted exactly like the last, no matter if it was a noodle or one of the sparse vegetables that hide beneath a dull brown broth. Overcooked, over-spiced, and no synergy in any dish. It tastes like what you might imagine food from a tiny trailer tucked into a parking spot of a gas station whose pumps don't accept credit cards would taste. Take out is the only real option, unless you prefer sitting next to the hipster drinking a Steel Reserve out of a brown bag while shoveling hot spicy goop in his gullet -- gasoline and garbage perfuming the air. I offer two stars as a conciliation, because I found the daughter of this mother-daughter teamed trailer to be quite charming. It hurts to write a bad review to nice people, but however, it is an honest review. Not recommended. read more

Good food, prices, and what a nice lady there to cook the food. My fiancé said that she thought our food was made with "a little bit of love" since the chef was so nice and made such a great impression. We had Pad Thai and Green Curry with chicken. Both were very good. As others have said, hot, fresh and quick. Our order also included two spring rolls which were ok, but a nice addition. Definitely try this place! My partner and I tried out this truck on it's opening day. We had the drunken noodles, and pad thai with chicken. Amazing. The drunken noodles had a kick to it that wasn't too hot to keep eating, and was on a level that I don't usually encounter- but love! The pad thai was great!! Spicy and sweet. The portions were more then generous for the price. Just thinking about the meal, makes me want to go back asap. Unfortunately we live kind of far from this place, but plan on going back when we get the chance. As for customer service, the Mother that runs the truck is one of the sweetest ladies I've met in a while. Very kind and insightful ( we had a chance to talk to her in depth). Want a good thai meal well under ten bucks? Try Thai Thani. The green curry is awesome, plenty of vegg with just the right amount of kick. My personal favorite is the pad see ew. Unlike a lot of places, it isn't too greasy. The owners are both very nice and everything is made to order. read more

Holy moly. I live in Cherrywood and have somehow missed this place. Well, I've found it now, and am I glad I have. Just enjoyed the green curry (spicy and delicious, and enough for 2+ meals), the crisp and tasty Thai egg rolls, and some sticky rice with mango, a favorite. They do a completely fantastic job with everything. I love Thai food and this is as good or better than any I've had. It is a treat to have such a wonderful takeout option minutes away. Thai Thani is the best thai food in Austin and beyond. We are lucky enough to live within walking distance but you should come and sample the menu. From the delicious wings, savory yellow curry or drunken noodles, there is no wrong choice here. Everything can be cooked as spicy as you like but watch out. The green curry rocks. I get it every time. My wife gets the black pepper beef and it's also very tasty. On previous visits I've had the drunken noodles and they are delicious and spicy. We ordered the pad thai once and it was so so. Also love the thai chicken wings when they have them on special and if it's cold out you can't go wrong with the tom yum. They can be a little slow but it is a trailer and the food is fresh so it's worth the wait in my book. Oh, and you cannot beat the value. It's inexpensive, like a trailer should be. read more

Thai Thani is one of my favorite places to get Thai in Austin. While the seating and environment are lack-luster, the food more than makes up for it. The service is always good and conversational. This was the first food we had in Austin when we moved here. Took a break from unpacking and walked down the street to find this gem! The owner noticed my food was too spicy for me (I was visibly struggling) and made me free tom kha soup with no spice so the coconut milk would soothe my tongue. The owners husband drove up while we were there in a cool classic truck and sat with us and talked to us about real estate and Austin in general. We felt very welcomed to the city by them! Hmm.. this is a tricky one. The food wasn't that great, but I'll give them the benefit of doubt since we reached post closing time, but they were gracious enough to take our order. Add to that our choice of spice level (4!!) which made matters worse (but hey! that was our choice). There are times when the niceness of the hosts make you want to try the food again before jumping to conclusions. We live down the street and have eaten here quite a few times. Good food, extremely friendly service. Taking off a star because it takes a long time (and though I've tried to call ahead, I never get through) and menu is somewhat limited. My favorites are Tom Yum soup with chicken, ordered SPICY (it delivers) and green curry. My kids are Pad Thai with tofu devotees. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Really impressed with the quality of food - tasted amazing - spicy done right where the food is flavourful and not just "burn your mouth" hot. The lady who was at the trailer was very sweet. For $8 food quantity isn't the extent you would get at a restaurant, but it is enough for 2meals (so a lot!). Will def come back for more! read more

Went there today with my gf, I had the pad Thai and she had the stir fry vegetables with tofu. Very fresh and crisp vegetables, the fried spring rolls were great. I brought some back to the office and were gone in 5 min. Owner came out to see if we enjoyed out food, she was very polite and positive. You can tell she loves cooking! Just left Thai Thani and it was amazing! I went for my first time a few weeks ago and found out that the cook, "Mary" was from Thailand! I was very excited because I visited Thailand a few years back and I had an amazing soup, Kao Soy, that I have't been able to find here in any Thai restaurants. She told me if I told her when I was coming, she would make it for me from scratch. Just got back. Holy. A load of flavors from curry, to coconut to lime. It was delicious! You know that smell of food that has been cooked in oil that has been used too long? That's what my pad thai and eggrolls smelled like. The pad thai had virtually zero egg; the tofu was not fried and was flavorless; there was no green onion, and very little sauce. It was probably the worst pad thai I've had in years. Worst service I have ever had at a food trailer. Three friends and I stood outside the trailer for an hour. We slowly got our food one at a time over the last 30 minutes we were waiting. I love eating at trailers in Austin, but this was just an awful experience. And the food is not even worth the wait. read more

Don't walk, run! ...away from this food truck. I had lunch here. The curry was a nasty watered down mixture with bits and pieces of veggies floating in it. The "beef" looked rotten and was leathery - came in pinkie finger slivers and there were about 6 pieces total. The rice was not jasmine! For God's sake, this is a Thai food truck and rice is cheap! The least you can do is get some jasmine rice. Realizing my grave mistake in ordering at this truck, I braced myself and forced myself to take a couple of bites. The food was terrible. Rice was a faux pas and curry tasted like sugar water at best. I felt so gross as the food was making it down my throat. About 20 minutes later, my stomach starts to hurt. I have never had food poisoning before so I am not sure if that is what is going on, or if I just got sick to my stomach from the horrible sugary taste. Anyway, buyer beware. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. I have eaten a lot of really great Thai food both in restaurants and home-cooked, so I know good Thai when I see it. This cannot even be considered Thai curry. I am not sure if the reviewers w/ positive experiences ate at the same truck or if they are even real reviews.Good luck! read more

This place is great. Run by a quirky couple and their daughter (who live right in the neighborhood) this is probably the best and most authentic I have ever had. Pad see ew was delicious. The pad thai was pretty good, well spiced but the tofu was very disappointing because it lacked any flavor at all and was obviously store bought. the green curry in my opinion was bland but after adding a good amount of soy sauce was edible. be prepared to wait 40-60 min and a nasty attitude from the girl at the stand. read more

Surprisingly fresh and good Thai food from a trailer. It took a little bit longer than usual trailer food as just one woman was cooking, but it was worth the wait. The food was fresh. Tofu wasn't fried, even without asking (not something I'm able to find very often around here)! They use really great chilis. Thankfully the woman taking my order warned me they were really hot.
