We've come here a few times and the food is always incredible. You have to get the Mac and Cheetos appetizer! The chicken and waffles with the sausage gravy is the entree I get every time and it never misses. The servers do a great job of getting everything right and seeming super eager to please. Went at noon on a Sunday. It was a long wait but it was worth it. The manager was very nice and very helpful when we asked (after waiting about an hour and a half) how much longer the wait would be. The hostess just looked at the computer and said we needed to wait 30 minutes more but the manager happened to be there and said she would go walk around and give us a more accurate wait time. Thanks to her we only waited about 10 minutes for a table to be cleared for us. I ordered the Hey Shorty Mac and cheese and it was delicious! Where do i start? Chris was our server he recommended all the best food. I then ordered pretty much everything he said was good. The biscuits might as well be listed under desserts All the staff were energetic and friendly, Chris checked on us frequently even tho it was a busy night. I am to full to leave and I might even need to crash on their outside seats with the pillows. This establishment has a great positive and fun energy that is passed through the staff to the patrons and you start small talking with the tables next to you about what you should order. I really struggled with 1 star or 3 stars... obviously you see what I chose. I put my name in at 11:20am and was told 45min and I was okay with that. At 12:20 I had to go back and see what was going on. I was then told another 10mins. I was okay with that. 12:40 came and I was told 20mins and at that point my friend got upset and they sat us outside which was cool. Our waitress was pleasant but then it started to rain...they ended up getting an umbrella which was fine. What looked like management kept making sure we were okay and I thought that was nice and they had 4 or 5 stars even then.. BUT the water begin to drip alot on the person I was with and he wanted to move. One waitress moved our food inside and as I walked the water that sat on the outside tent fell on me and I was wet from the bottom down. I tried to run but I wasn't quick enough. What if I would have slipped. That would have been bad for them. I was very very upset! Plus my potatoes wasn't fully cooked and they lost 2 stars and with the hoopla my food was cold. I got the southern omelette and there was nothing southern about it. It was only okay. One more star lost. They apologized for my now wet clothes and that was nice. But at that point i wanted the check and to leave. I THOUGHT they would have comp my cold food or took money off but they charged me in full smh. I paid it and left a tip because my waitress was nice. However that place gave off the worst experience ever! Management should have came over and made sure I was okay ALOT of water hit me and I didn't feel like they cared at all. I've always seen this place on IG, but never had the chance to try it til now! It's a really cool looking spot, very chill and pretty outside with all the string lights. I believe it's street parking and they do have a tiny lot in the back if you get lucky enough to find a spot there. We came for late night drinks and munchies. My friend made a birthday reservation for 9pm, but we arrived just a little late at 9:10. It took them maybe another 20 minutes before seating us -- the hostess said the server for the table they were preparing for us was backed up and busy, so they wanted to give him time before seating us... hmmm... but I wouldn't have minded just sitting and looking at the menu during that time. Servers were very nice and attentive though. The food was okay, not bad but not mindblowingly good: - Sampler Appetizer ($18) - Of course, the hot cheeto mac n cheese is what caught our attention, but we opted for the sampler, so we could have some other bites. The mac n cheese was average - the hot cheetos were a little stale so that was disappointing and the mac n cheese itself was okay tasting, not the best. The crab cake was yummy (only one piece though). The dish also included two pieces of the tomato caprese and two pieces of devilish egg (meh, didn't care for the hot sauce on top). - Cajun French Fries ($7) - I liked the seasoning for these fries! Tasty. I'd order it again. - Fra Diavlo ($22) - SO SPICY. The sauce literally just tasted like hot sauce. It was okay tasting, but definitely too spicy to even be able to eat and enjoy. Overall, I love the outdoor patio seating (definitely sit outside if you can!). Great place for drinks and munchies. I would come back if I was in the area, but I can't say that I'd make a special trip out for just this place. read more

We came around 11:30am & the hostess was very welcoming outside. The wait was only less than 5 minutes, This was both me & my boyfriend's first time here & we were excited to try this place since it's always crowded. Our server was initially welcoming as well but after taking our order was no long attentive. On top of that, there was a hair in our bacon & we couldn't flag down our server. So we had to ask another server to take it back. A new bacon did come out pretty quickly, but we rather have had the manager come to us ASAP, apologizing for that inconvenience, rather than our bacon coming out fast. Our server finally came, still wasn't aware that there was a hair & only said something because he saw me starting to write this review. He apologized & notified the manager on duty. Still, no one came up to us & finally the manager came to apologize but didn't seem sincere. I've been wanting to try this place out for several years now because I'm a huge Mac n Cheese fanatic and I also really like hot Cheetos. Outdoor seating is wonderful! The weather is so beautiful since the beach is within walking distance, but there are flies everywhere. Southern Omelette The omelette is pretty small but it's loaded with chorizo, sausage, ham, bacon, and cheese! 10/10 for meat lovers! I thought it was delicious especially with some hot sauce. The cajun seasoned potatoes were not as great; they weren't fresh and I wasn't a huge fan of the seasoning. The OG Mac n Cheetos This Mac n Cheese comes with bacon and I got avocado slices on the top for a little extra $$$. This entree makes for a pretty picture but overall it's just okay. The Cheetos were stale and the Mac n cheese is all right, but they're really generous with the bacon chunks. I really liked the peach soda! It was pretty pricey at $4, but it's so sweet and refreshing! I took off two stars because I found the food here to be pretty mediocre. The flies were especially annoying to deal with as I was trying to eat. Although our service was super to begin with, it became increasingly slow towards the end. read more

I came to this restaurant about 2 years ago but was not impressed so I didn't come back again. Fast forward to 2021 and I heard new chef and good menu items so I came back to try again. We tried the Octopus appetizer and it was tender and crispy on the outside. Served with a crispy wild rice with a citrus dressing. It was delicious. I had the brick chicken dinner and others had the gumbo and double cheese burger. The chicken was tender and juicy. Creamy farro was surprisingly good. The gumbo roux was strong and tasty. Cheeseburger came out moist and full of flavor. Lastly we had excellent service from our server who made great suggestions and was prompt and attentive throughout the evening. Kudos to the chef, servers, and management for a job well done. Needless to say, this restaurant is highly recommended and deserves another visit in the future. read more

I've been dying to go to The Attic for years ever since I saw their Mac & Cheetos on social media. I heard their menu got completely overhauled in the last year so maybe that's why I wasn't completely impressed. Their Mac & Cheetos was okay, not bland but not bursting with flavor. The Cheetos obviously added a good kick but some were soggy from the cheese. Not a bad thing, just something to note for people who has a texture thing. My mom got the crispy chicken sandwich. She liked the chicken (I don't eat meat, so I don't have an opinion on this) but said the biscuit wasn't flaky. The biscuit tasted delicious but was harder than expected. She really wanted to try the gumbo, but they ran out of it the day we went. Their service was great though. Our waitress was super kind and friendly and so was the hostess! Definitely a fan of the Attic! Good vibes, solid food, and really nice, friendly staff. Pros: the menu is solid. Not going to get into a whole debate about what makes good buns on burgers, but this bun was perfect. Thin, a little crisp, yet still held together brilliantly. Excellent fresh cut fries. Drink of the week options were solid. Just good vibes while eating at the Attic. Improvements: Not calling these cons, but more so just where I see room for improvements. Burgers were requested at medium. They came out well done. It's a testament to how good the burger was because I still really liked it. Just makes me concerned to order something like steak which def can not be overcooked. 2nd thing to improve upon was the drinks. Their specials are really good. Definitely a creative bartender. We arrived at Long Beach airport and ubered straight over to the Attic to check out what the hype was all about. Coming from Las Vegas, I'm totally not used to seeing restaurants that looked like houses, but I was shocked to see how busy it was. The hostess seated us in a comfortable area where we could have our carry-ons with us. Starting the trip off right, we ordered a few drinks to start and the Cajun French fries (Free with yelp check-in). I started with the "i dream of lichi" and my friend did the "it takes two to mango." My drink was amazing that I ended up getting three of them. I've never had a whiskey cocktail with lychee, and they perfected it with this old fashion spinoff. The mango gin drink was also great, as well as the grand dads lemonade. For lunch we ordered the clucker and the chicken and waffles. The Mac and cheese on the clucker was so good with the hot Cheetos mixed in, and the chicken on both dishes were crispy, juicy, and tender. Service was also excellent and efficient despite how busy it was. I highly recommend the Attic and will hopefully visit again next time I'm in town! read more

FGT caprese $10 -fried green tomato, mozzarella, basil and balsalmic reduction. HUGE SLICES. I wasn't a fan of the balsamic taste...The dish itself lacked flavor. Shrimp & Grits $14- I'm not a fan of grits but the pictures had me sold. The grits were buttery and soft, had a creamy mashed potato taste...not too bad. The place is a cute hangout with the inside decorated like someone's home (fireplace and all..)on a busy street corner in Long Beach. They offer indoor/outdoor seating. GENTRIFICATION!! Really hate going to these uppity snobby white people places. First experience: party of two, was sat in a corner area away from others. Our server was very standoffish but i did not say anything to avoid issues. We were told breakfast was over, and we'd have to order from the dinner menu. I ordered some rotisserie chicken thing and it was DISGUSTING. Undercooked with no seasoning. By the time our server came back i just wanted to leave. (Didn't check on us or our meals the entire time). Second experience: party of two. Immediately greeted and sat. Once we sat, that's all we did for about 20 minutes. 5 minutes in another couple was set next to us. After they were sat a server walking by served us all cups of water. Shortly after a server walks right by us and takes the couple next to us's order. Are we invisible?? Their order gets taken, and we are ignored. I'm not sure what the issue is with these gentrified places. I guess if you look a certain way or don't fit into their market audience you are treated like you are beneath them. read more

Went for brunch-- menu has changed since I last came. Ordered the BEC, breakfast rice in a stone bowl, and ricotta French toast. The BEC was okay-- kind of bland but presentation was pleasing and definitely edible but much preferred the stone pot which was packed full of flavor and textures and just delicious. The ricotta French toast isn't really like a French toast but more like just sourdough with topping but I actually preferred this. Tasted great. Sigh.. It took me a while to get myself to write this review. Maybe because so many people I've talked to loved this place when it first opened or because the last time I went here two years ago.. it was alright. But omg.. I didn't have a great experience here. The food was okay.. The mac & cheese was more grity than I thought it would be.. The cheetos were stale. The Pot pie had a nice flavor but it was more watery than hearty. The thing is.. the food was alright, but the service was so bad. I went with a friend on a Wednesday during brunch. There wasn't a wait and it wasn't packed either. But I don't understand why our server would disappear or wouldn't help us. I sound like a brat but it wasn't busy. If it was busy I would understand, but it wasn't. I wasn't even complaining about the food, it was just asking for some napkins or a refill for my coffee. I had to ask other servers to help us. My boyfriend and I used to come here all the time, we loved getting the filet mignon and the crispy octopus. however, we came recently and we had been informed that there was a pretty substantial menu change. I'm glad they kept the hot cheetos mac and cheese and the cornbread but that's just about the only good thing on the menu now. We were incredibly disappointed when we came and while we were offered a different steak option it just wasn't the same at all and it was way more expensive for a meat that isn't as lean and tender. I wish that they had kept it the same, the place was always so full before even on Sundays and there were plenty of open tables when I came. The servers are always very friendly and welcoming so I would never have any complaints about the general ambiance of the restaurant. Again, I just feel disappointed as this place also had sentimental value to me since it was my boyfriend and I's first date a while back, so it pains me to say that I probably won't be back as I didn't enjoy the new menu change. read more
