I ordered the clucker Mac and cheese and I believe a manager came up to me and informed us it takes awhile to make but when the food came out the Mac and cheese tasted bland, semi cold and the chicken was very dry. I was very unhappy. The last time we came it tasted better than I remember it today. Two months ago from coming here, the Mac and cheese had a lot of flavor and came out hot and fresh. Yet today I was disappointed. Our server George, was super nice at the end when I informed him I was unhappy, so kudos to him for taking the time to acknowledge my concern. I had been wanting to come here for some time ever since I heard about the Flamin' Hot Cheetos Mac n Cheese, which I of course ordered for dinner and was not disappointed!! I didn't know you could customize your Flamin' Hot Cheese Mac n Cheese prior to coming here. I added andouille sausage to mine and it was really good. It is a very generous serving of mac n cheese; I couldn't finish it all. My boyfriend ordered the Catalina Burger and he really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. The service was good and everyone was very accommodating and friendly. We sat outside and the busser was super nice and even brought us a heater to put next to our table. Next time I come here, I really want to order their Bloody Mary that comes with a slider on it. I have heard great things. The parking situation was a tricky one. Had a great Saturday dinner with drinks and friends! Vanessa was our waitress - very kind and fun personality. Yano, the general manager even came out to check on all of the tables and made pleasant conversation! The food was delicious. The veggie burger was a little messy to eat, but nothing a fork and knife couldn't fix. The Mac n' Cheetos is a must try! The sampler was the best way to go for appetizers since it was all the house specialties in one. The hard lemonade was strong and delicious with fruit at the bottom. Must-Have Dishes: - Cremebrulee French toast - Mac n Cheetos - Avocado flatbread - Fries Skip: - Chicken & waffle - Breakfast burrito The cremebrulee French toast was a homerun at our table. The outside was super crispy (like the top of a crumebrulee) while the inside remained soft and fluffy. It was surprisingly not too sweet. Skip the whipped cream on it, because it just makes the crunchy, crispy outside soggy! A+ Mac and Cheetos. Loaded with tons of gooey cheese and fairly large pieces of Flamin' Hot Cheetos. I honestly think the big chunks vs Cheeto dust is way better - it adds a nice crunch to an otherwise very soft dish. A+ Avocado flatbread - it was LOADED with mashed avocado and toppings. I thought this would be a "light" option but glad they stacked it as high as they did with sprouts, pickled onions, and perfectly poached eggs. A+ Chicken & waffle. The concept is cool of stacking waffle, chicken, and eggs, but the chicken is boneless and not a very large portion. The southern gravy is a good balance of creamy and flavor. The waffle was a standard waffle. B Breakfast burrito. It's super dense with fries, eggs, and meat, but the flavor of the burrito was a bit off. The fries were dressed with Cajun and they serve it wet drenched in salsa. Overall, this was the least favorite dish of the table. D Ok, now onto the service - Our waitress was super nice. She was super friendly and helpful in answering our questions. However, one of our friends ordered steak & eggs, steak medium rare & eggs over hard. They forgot his order, but he was feeling full cuz we shared all the food. We couldn't find our waitress to tell her to just cancel his order. I started visiting The Attic about three years ago when they first opened. I loved the strawberry jalapeno cocktail (seasonal) and the cajun lemonade though the food was too southern and pricey. Generally I would say they have the best cocktails in town. I took my roommates there tonight shortly after 8pm and they said the wait was 1.5 hours. We went to the recently opened bar and ordered drinks. My roommates got mint juleps that came out with crushed ice. They couldn't drink them with the tiny straws they were served with and unfortunately the bartender was too busy to help. I ordered the southern lemonade that I thought was the cajun lemonade but it was not! Eventually the bar opened up and we ordered food. We tried the fried pickles which were tasty but too thin. I ordered their well know mac n cheese with hot cheetos which they now offer with mushrooms, bacon and such. The mac n cheese wasn't cheesy enough and my toppings were at the bottom. Eventually I got my cajun lemonade (not on the menu) but overall I am very disappointed. The Attic is no longer the cool local spot but seems to have sold out. This is a favorite of mine. It is a love hate at times. New Orleans inspired restaurant. Parking is really bad (I uber), food really good, service is 50/50. They seem to be short handed a lot. I am more of a drinkie then foodie, so my focus is on how well the drinks were made. Cocktails, they have a well stocked bar and bartenders with some skill. Set New Orleans created drinks. The Sazerac, Vieux Carre and Hurricane are some of the best. Recommend the fried pickles and fried chicken, ask for a side of the dipping sauce from the fried pickles for your chicken to spices things up. Portions are large and reheat well. The Attic is definitely a hipster hub where you'll be treated to a new take on mac and cheese. The basic idea blends southern comfort food with the lowbrow spicy snack Hot Cheetos. Its interesting and very basic, but its this simplicity that's really surprising. The mac and cheese is savory, cheesy, and warm...the crunchy feel dissolves within seconds in cheese heaven. My recommendation to you would be to ask for the Hot Cheetos on the side, otherwise they'll lose their crunch and you'll basically get soggy chips. Will you hate yourself for eating fried cornmeal doused in artificial color and spice? Maybe, definitely not if you ask for them on the side. So sprinkle freely or sparingly, depending on your self-confidence. The hipster crowd around you is also pretty amusing. You'll basically be treated to characters like nappy-haired girls wearing black floppy-felt hats and guys with beards and Pringles-can mustaches wearing lose fitting beanies. All of them asking for special orders...i.e. no cheetos because they're corporate, no ribs because meat is murder, so on and so forth...in essence, hipsters. I live on the west side and am not familiar with LB things. The Attic was one of several brunch suggestions over Thanksgiving weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed my biscuits and crab/shrimp scramble. The entire section of the menu for Mac and cheese with flamin hot Cheetos is a bit curious to me, but I hear they're all good. I'd also never seen a Bloody Mary with both a piece of bacon AND a slider garnishing the glass. The service was very friendly. The restaurant space itself is cool, especially if you're an architecture or interior design aficionado. There were lots of dogs on the patio, too, which was nice. Maybe it's because of the day/time we went, but there was a brief 10 min wait for a table. I'd recommend The Attic if you're in the area and I would go back if I was feeling a bit gluttonous. read more

Oh I am so sad to write this review. I am a HUGE fan of The Attic (or should say was) - the food was casual yet upscale, absolutely delicious and always left me wanting to come back for more. From what I understand, they recently changed chefs and it might as well be a different restaurant. I understand some changes due to COVID but the menu was completely overhauled and all the classics (the reason we visited) were removed. Replaced with items that don't have a similar vibe at all to the New American Southern vibe of the past. My last visit I came for my birthday specifically for the poutine fries - one of the best dishes I've ever had. We were seated 30mins after our reservation (they were busy, I get it, but maybe don't allow reservations). I was told they no longer serve it for dinner, ok really sad but fine. We ordered the artichokes instead which were pretty good. My fiancé ordered the gumbo (he said it was good) and I ordered the NY strip. My steak came SO salty and over seasoned it was actually burning my mouth. There is nothing in the world I hate more than sending a dish back but it wasn't edible. They brought a new one, just as salty but it was now so rare it was hardly even warm. I understandably asked for something different (Chicken Under a Brick). My fiancé was way past done eating at this point but no big deal we waited. They wouldn't let me substitute out the creamy farro due to an allergy, which is new since I've done this often no problem (they also wouldn't separate it from my meat so it wasn't touching my food). I ordered a side of fries instead of substituting and they were really soggy and again, over seasoned with thyme. The chicken came almost as salty as the beef but a little more edible so we went with that and finally went home. The service was INCREDIBLE, our waitress was so gracious and we did speak to the manager who comped my meal and gave us dessert which we appreciate but I wish it wasn't necessary. This review is simply for the quality of the food which seems to have seriously deteriorated while prices have continued to rise. If you have any food allergies or intolerances, I definitely don't recommend. This was our neighborhood favorite and I sadly don't know if we'll be back. read more

My 1st visit here and I am honestly SOOO impressed. I thought the food would be a hype, but I was so wrong. Everything is so amazing and the food is high quality. The wait is worth it and they have amazing service. They have super super cool drinks (I couldn't get any because I was going to work after). But I saw other people's drinks and they were so unique. The mac and cheese was AMMMAAAZZZING. I got the fungi one with mushrooms and caramelized onions and I loved it. The portions are huge so I definitely suggest sharing. Superfly and not just the music.... which was good BtW My better half heard about this place from her family friend - we decided to check it out Sunday morning and made sure we arrived early (9:30 AM). Which is recommended, when we returned from a stroll through the nice neighborhood the place was packed. We ordered a FGT Benedict (me) and a chicken fried steak benedict, plus an espresso to kick start my day and a BLT bloody mary to get us all relaxed again (at 10 AM no less, used to be beer time in my twenties ;-)). My FGT Benedict was truly awesome and I'd warmly recommend it. Wifey's dish was quite all right as well but 7/10 compared to 9/10. Only problem was that the flies were abundant, both inside the restaurant and on the patio. Hope the guys will be able to fix that issue, although having a grocery store next door does not help. They took our name and said they would text us when the table was ready. So, we walked over to the Reno Room (woot woot-- morning happy hour!!) while we waited for the table. Service was okay, but not super attentive. We ordered drinks (Bloody Mary's and mimosas) and they took about 10-15minutes to arrive. I did like the little slider on top of my Bloody Mary, which was pretty awesome and delicious though. My two friends and I ordered brunch. I ordered the eggs benedict (the one with the friend green tomatoes) and my boyfriend ordered the Ruben sandwich. The waiter brought out three plates and asked if my boyfriend had ordered anything--- really? They pretended like they didn't totally forget and brought out a piping hot sandwich about 10 minutes later. Disappointed. My eggs benedict were ok. Not as amazing as I would have hoped, but the potatoes they serve with them were pretty good. I probably wouldn't come back here.
