I am so impressed with Jonathan's Cork. It was recommended by some friends and it is now our favorite restaurant. Everything we ate was amazing. I had the Prime Rib, which was perfectly cooked and so much flavor. The crab cakes are also so amazing and filled with flavor. Now let's get serious, the deserts were just mouth watering. We are your typical desert lovers and we had the Cheesecake, Peanut butter flourless cake, and the best in my opinion was the Creme Brûlée. From amazing wine and service ( Julie was a fantastic server and so friendly). Honestly all the staff were great. The lighting in our room was very romantically dimmed and so private, we loved it. It was like we were the only ones there. If you haven't been there, it is a refreshing change to some amazing food that Tucson does not have much of. We will be back! read more

Came here for dinner tonight, I've never been here before. The food was amazing. Fiancé had the escargot app and I got venison 3 ways. I tried escargot for the first time and it was good, better than I thought it would be. The venison was amazing. For entree she had the lamb chops and I got the bison filet. Both were also amazing! Recommend this place if you haven't been before. Our server was absolutely the best ever. I wish I remembered her name to give her the credit she deserves. We tried their curbside service; it was excellent! We called the number on their website and placed our order. We paid by credit card and gave them the make and model of our car. We pulled up to their entrance and within a couple of minutes they brought our order tcar including a bottle of wine. Each meal was individually box and was still hot. The food was as good as we have come to expect. June 9, 2020. Jonathan's Cork is now open for dining in. We had an 8pm reservation and were seated by ourselves in are own room. JC is composed of several small dining areas which makes for easier social distancing. All of the staff wore masks and unused tables were marked off with tape with no chairs. We have always gone here for our special occasions so we continued the tradition tonight for our 40th wedding anniversary. We realize it's under new ownership but still gave it a chance. My $50 medium rare filet was medium well and they graciously cooked me a new one which was way over charred and tasted burnt. There was no recognition of our anniversary as there has been in the past with a desert to share, etc.....The server, Alison, was terrific and the wait staff very attentive. However, for a $200 celebratory dinner, it was nothing special unfortunately. We will find a new place for our special occasions. read more

[Food] The food was delicious and well prepared! I had the Surf n Turf special (Filet Mignon and Lobster tail), great dish. The filet was cooked rare just as requested and the brown rice was actually very flavorful. Usually brown rice is hard and bland to eat but this rice I just devoured. I also had the blackened calamari; it was really good to try calamari that wasn't fried. It was charcoaled on the outside and soft and flavorful inside. The oysters were pretty tasty as well (Rockefeller style), loved the melted cheese on them. This was all topped off with a delicious almond joy cake! It's just as it sounds almond joy candy but a cake version. Really a good punch for that sweet tooth! Overall I'm satisfied with this place and happy to support local business. This place is a true gem! We came in on a Tuesday night for a low key date night dinner, I had been wanting try this place for months and now that summer was over and hours were back to normal we gave it a shot. We had mushrooms to start, which were delicious and of a good portion size. My wife ordered the filet and I had one of the fish specials, which was a salmon in a lemon butter caper sauce. My wife's steak was a tad bit more done then she ordered, but overall I was very impressed by the food. Entrees are served with garlic mashed potatoes (Get them!) or brown rice, and house vegetables. After dinner we were shown a platter of various cakes for desert- at least 6 different kinds. We chose a peanut butter and chocolate flourless cake. Perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Our water glasses were always full, server was attentive without being overbearing and the cozy ambiance makes this the ultimate east side destination. Will be back for sure ! read more

Took a chance on a Friday night and called ahead to find out if they had liver and onions and they did. Got there on time and it was ready. The liver was two slabs cooked to perfection on top of a bed of caramelized onions. I asked for mashed potatoes and they included gravy as well as some steamed vegetables. 2 weeks in advance I made reservations for dinner. When we arrived they took us to the outdoor patio. I reminded the hostess that I had reservations and did not want to sit outside since it was 90 degrees. She said that was all they had available. I asked to speak to the manager. I watched her get him and say her laugh at the situation. He did nothing to remedy the situation. On the way out I saw several table that were empty. I asked the other hostess about those and she said "those are reserved". I said that I had reservations and could I have one of those tables. She said no. I don't have anything to say about the food because they apparently do not want to serve people like me. I finally went to dinner here under the new owner so here is what I think: 1. You need to hire more staff. Went Tuesday night. Took 20 minutes to get our drinks, another 20 to get a pre-meal snack, and the meal came one hour later. Yes it was crowded. Hire more staff. 2. A margarita should be served in a margarita glass, not the same common glass water is poured in. Come on, I know this is Tucson, is and will always be a one horse town, but show some class. 3. I ordered a large prime one pound prime rib for me, and small 9 oz for my guest. I got a prime rib that was no larger than his 9 oz, but was charged for the one pounder anyway. We were in a hurry, so i just let it slide. 4. The prime ribs must have been sitting a while as they came not cold, but not hot either....the butter would not melt on it or the potato....so mildly warm. My pal ordered rare but got medium cooked. But he wasn't paying so he let it slide too. 5. The bread seems cheap store bought. Bland and no taste. Need to step up a bit. Would be nice if it came out warmed, hard to spread butter on cold bread. 6. I notice that there are lots of repeat customers here that seem to be on a first name basis with staff, a lot of old geezers that I guess have been coming here for the past 26 years. Fine. But as they die off, you need some newer customers like me, and some changes need to be made. 7. Not a bad meal, I might be back. But hire more staff and get some proper glass ware that match the drinks. Or should I bring my own margarita glass? LOL read more

I grew up in NYC and lived there until I was 40. Then spent 10 years in LA. On a whim and because a Rick Joy architectural masterpiece home came up for sale in Ventana Canyon, I moved here to Tucson. Sadly this restaurant is another shitty Tucson choice. Service was painfully terrible. Clearly the staff were poorly trained. But also the staff were lethargic and below average intelligence. The food was embarrassing. Really embarrassing. Like a coach meal on a cheap flight. Everything sounded good and nothing was good. Nothing. Even things that anyone could cook in a toaster oven were not cooked well. Bone marrow was terrible. Lobster tails were terrible. Escargot the worst I've ever had. Meat dishes poorly cooked. And too much low quality toasted bread added to each and every plate. Plates that stacked up with no one in sight. I'm still sitting here while writing this. Because I feel sick and ripped off and needed to speak out. Terrible service, terrible food. So, stay at home and cook. I strongly suggest you avoid this sad dump. Overpriced, excellent waitstaff, mediocre food. Unfortunately the "fish cake" was more filling than fish and had no flavor. The vegetables were steamed it seems and were bland tasting. The mashed potatoes were fair and my fish entree definitely needed some seasoning. Would have given them a five-star rating, but last time I visited, the mud pie portion was about half of what it use to be. It went from about a 3+" slice to a sliver of about 2" or less. Fantastic local spot! A little hidden off the street with a great menu and always 3 or 4 seafood specials. Escargot is the best I've had, crabcakes and salmon grilled blackened or poached. Drove by this place dozens of times over the last several years, but never gave it a try until tonight. Upon entering, the restaurant reeked badly of fish. I understand that it is a seafood restaurant, but it just smelled cheap. We opted to sit on the patio. We sat at a metal patio table, with white tablecloth, and plastic chairs. The cheapness factor again. At least there were cloth napkins. I ordered a quesadilla for an appetizer and a salad to follow. The quesadilla came out in decent time. It looked like something I would have made in my own kitchen, minus the excessive cheese that was inside it. Seriously, there was nothing appealing or appetizing about this appetizer, in fact, I only ate two pieces as there was just way too much cheese. Maybe a garnish would be nice? My Caesar salad came out shortly after. It was a wedge of Romain lettuce with a drizzle of Caesar dressing on top, and some parmesan cheese. I am not a fan of wedge salads, because I would prefer to eat my food prepared, not prepare it myself. The anchovy paste was overpowering in the dressing. I couldn't escape the fish smell in this place. Part way through dinner, an elderly woman broke out in song, singing Memory, from the Cats musical. Perhaps if she had a better voice, I wouldn't have minded so much. I believe she was the "icing on the cake" for my experience here. We planned on a nice birthday dinner on July 3, 2024 with family and friends. Sadly, this restaurant did not live up to all the positive reviews which we now believe must have been left by family and friends. For the high prices we paid, the food was very disappointing despite the positive reviews on Yelp. Our experience started out with very stale dry bread which we paid for as it did not come with the dinners. We were ok with this, however the bread was inedible. We thought perhaps a stale loaf so we asked for another order with hopes it would be fresh. It was just as bad as the first bread order. One dinner ordered was lamb - 5 very small ribs with about 1 inch of meat at the end. Another dinner was the halibut which was not fresh which we knew, but it really shouldn't have been served as it was mealy. Another dinner was shrimp served with BBQ sauce that was just ok. What was good during the dinner, the baked potato and the desserts. The service was just ok. We had to ask the server to stop at our table to get service. My baked potato had been missed - so when I asked for it - she said I'll get you one. No apologies for the mix up. But not once, did the server stop to ask us if we needed anything. Maybe it was just a bad night, but I don't think so. We won't be coming back. Yelp reviews in my opinion are not to be trusted. read more
