For the BLT, The Flame Diner's rendition of this beloved American classic hit all the right notes. Crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, and ripe tomatoes stacked between two slices of toasted whole wheat bread. The generous portion of bacon added a satisfying crunch with each bite, and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. I asked for mayo on the side that way I could control the amount I put on it. It may not reinvent the wheel, but it doesn't need to- the simplicity and execution here are commendable. The Flame knows how to do fries right. Salty, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I would come here for a side of fries alone. For diner food, I find The Flame can be a little overpriced. However, it is a neighbourhood establishment that is open 24/7, which is perfect for late nights or early mornings. What a great experience we had!! I was really wishing for a while now to go a new diner and selected this one cause it gave me a good impression. This place definitely deserves better reviews. They had a fee people around us that were apparently regular customers because of the way they talked to the owner and the waiters. The owner came to every table to make sure everything was ok, which to me was the cherry on top. Our waitress was Carmen, sometimes this other gentleman would come to our table to offer/serve coffee but she was our main waitress. What a friendly, polite person, she had a really nice vibe. They came to our table to pour coffee at least 5 times, I had 4 cups of coffee myself. It was very good, always hot and fresh, just how I like my coffee. :P As per Carmen's recommendation, me and my boyfriend ordered the "Flame Omelette", it had bacon, ham, sausage and cheese and came with home fries and toasts. It's $18 for just a basic burger. $5 extra if you want the fries/lettuce/tomatoes. And it's barely a single portion of fries. Went to this diner with my daughter since I had a doctors appointment nearby. I ordered a burger with French fries and immediately noticed that the outside of the burger was burnt black but was so hungry (im 9 months pregnant) that I decided to over look it and eat it anyways, which was a huge mistake. About 4 hours later I was hit with the worst food poisoning of my life and unbearable pain that still hasn't gone away 3 days later. It is a pretty traditional diner with all the goodies - pancakes, omelettes, burgers, wraps, etc. They boast a full bar with some brunch offerings including a mimosa, Bloody Mary, or fresh juice. Overall all of our food was good, but my fries were limp and a bit lackluster. I have been here a few times and while I never come sprinting back- the service is quick, our water glasses never run empty, and it's in a very convenient location. How shameful since many, if not most, of the patrons were seniors. I was told by the cashier that if they gave discounts to everybody, they wouldn't make any money. I came here this morning (7/28/24) with my psychiatric service dog. The manager, who is in the photo below, kept telling me over and over that my dog was not a service dog. I found this very off-putting and out of touch, considering the federal regulation surrounding service animals. I have PTSD and the task Carson performs on me is tactile stimulation. The dressing is excellent and the mashed potatoes are obviously from actual potatoes and the turkey is not the typical processed turkey "roll" .. the homemade soups are always delicious . The Matzoh ball has large matzoh balls in a great broth . (Always on the menu)..
