They put the happy in happy hour. Great drink and food specials, nice location, friendly staff, ample seating and great prices! Maria the bartender/server was amazing so sweet and friendly. I ordered the empanadas, buffalo meatballs and lemon drop martini which was on happy hr. Those empanadas were so good just bursting with flavor and the crisp was perfect. They have 3 different flavors of meatballs and I chose the Buffalo and Bleu cheese. It was just like eating wings with creamy Bleu cheese. I love when a place has a good house Bleu cheese. If you need a good time midweek stop in. Free parking in the garage, great pricing and friendly staff.

If you like to taste more espresso, then you will love this one. The burger was extremely well seasoned.

Susi was a great server, attentive and gave good suggestions. If you are not a cheese lover, do not recommend the steak sandwich... if you are I recommend. Hush puppies are light and crispy. Fish and chips is a massive portion and even better for $12 during lunch.

Three stars for the lackluster bar service. No one ever checked on us, asked how our food was.. they'd walk on by and never say a thing. We had to ask for more water, the check.. and the people that sat next to didn't have their counter bussed for over 10 minutes after they sat down. I overheard him say, "are we going to have to ask to get service?" My wife and I looked and him and said, "YES. You'll need to flag them down." CRAZY to not check on customers or greet new ones. Anyway, the food was good ‍ probably won't come back though.

First and foremost, I patronized both Bowl & Barrel next door and the General Public. The host Tiana was amazing. She handled our large crowd with ease and efficiency. Even if she was overwhelmed the customers could not tell. She answered every question with patience and a smile. I ordered the happy hour lemon drop and it was good. HOWEVER, one of the main reasons I love the General Public is for the $3, $4, $5 happy hour. Hearing that they have discontinued that was a major disappointment. The drinks are still discounted as they are half off but that novelty will surely be missed. I hope that in the future the higher ups will consider the possibility of bringing that back. I'd also like to thank the GM, David, for coming and checking on my group. He made us feel welcomed and wanting to come back despite the changes....but bring it back!!!!

Intro: I have now been to The General Public three times (twice in CityCentre and once in San Antonio). Both times in Houston have been for drinks. This regional chain is located in CityCentre which means your best bet is parking in the complimentary parking garage. Ambiance (4/5): The General Public is a visually appealing bar and restaurant. The decor is elegant and comfortable. There's seating at the bar and plenty of semi-circular booths. I have sat at both. Service (4/5): Not the fastest but they do the job. Above average service on both of my visits. Food (N/A): While I haven't had food at this location, I had their duck wings at their San Antonio location which I recommend. How often do you see duck wings on a menu?! Drinks (4.5/5): Interesting cocktail list along with a solid beer list. Wine too. I went with a tiki drink on my last visit. Overall, their cocktail list is pretty creative. And here's the coolest thing: at sundown, each day, if you're there, you get a complimentary shot. I have never seen another restaurant do this: awesome concept. The sun goes down and we celebrate! Overall: If you're looking for a bar in CityCentre, The General Public is your best choice.

We had our team brunch here today and it was amazing! The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and such a great atmosphere! We loved it and had a blast celebrating the holidays!

KUNG PAO LETTUCE WRAPS

Great ambiance especially for a happy hour. We parked at the garage and walked to the location since there's limited metered parking in City Center. We also made a reservation because it's busy on a Friday. They had some great choices for restaurant week and they were a good portion unlike other places that serve smaller. For an appetizer I got the Kung Pao chicken lettuce wraps which if you don't like spicy is doable but additive. The stuffed mushrooms are also good. For the main meal I had the harvest bowl with shrimp. For dessert they were small desserts in a jar. I got to try the lemon mousse and the cheesecake, which were both filling even though they were small because the harvest bowl is large. Overall the food was good and the service was friendly and attentive.

Crab Hushpuppies - comes with 5

Great food and Great drinks! Ordered the fish and chips. The fish was huge pieces and I chose the jalapeño ranch instead of the tartar sauce to eat with it and it was awesome! Also had the crab hushpuppies, they were amazing...and the maple butter that came with it took me to heaven!! For drinks I had the Tiki Punch which tasted like a drink from the islands. Top all of this off with a great waiter "Bennett" and you get 5 stars!!

Had a great time here.. the appetizers were good and so were the drinks! My server / bartender was Christian he was very attentive and helpful with ordering! The place is sorta like a sports bar but upscale! There's a lot of free parking, and a bowling alley next door so dinner and games ok and plus shopping!

Great food & Drinks!! Great service. Ask for Jose when you come in! I ordered the smash Burger and lemon drop martini

This place has an amazing atmosphere and set up although I wish the menu was a little bit more diverse. There are not many options to choose from but if you frequent often then pretty sure you'll find something for your taste buds. I like to come because it's a nice quiet space to work in the daytime And they have Wi-Fi available. Make sure you try to catch them during happy hour 3-6pm for specials

The HR crew needed a little happy hour because adulting is hard! So the choice was easy when they asked where to go! I came here a few months back and loved the bar setup and the ambience, and I knew the HH was great for everyone's pocket! When we got there we thought our group was going to be smaller so we sat in a booth by the bar, but as we all started to arrive and food and drinks came, we knew the table wouldn't fit us all, so the host and MOD were more than accommodating to get us to a bigger table, which worked out great for our group! Mariah was our server and she was a dream! She was super attentive with all of our drinks and food, checking in when seeing we were getting low on liquid courage! Clearing plates and glasses as the evening went on, which is one thing that I ALWAYS love, as it's true attention to detail and makes it nice to not have a lot of dirty dishes in your table whilst socializing! The one thing I love about the HH here is that the drinks start at $3 @ 3:00 and $4 @ 4:00 and so forth. I got the Pink Lady, which was delicious and one of my fave drinks here. Food wise we all ordered appetizers to share family style. We got the pretzel and beer cheese, chicken meatballs, sliders, stuffed mushrooms, lettuce wraps, crab hush puppies and fries. Everything came out super hot and fresh and there was no food left!!! One tip is to dip the fries in the beer cheese!! Chefs kiss! All in all amazing evening with an awesome team and we will definitely be back!

There was constantly a line when we visited even on a Thursday night. Parking is also very limited. The lot is very small and does not fit many cars. The day before the game we hit up twin peaks after we arrived and checked into our hotel. Although it was cool there, we were looking for more football fans with vibes so we decided to check out Kirby Ice House and was so happy we did! The following day after we left our World Cup game, we went back to twin peaks to grab wings to go and headed back to Kirby's for the next 5 hours for the remaining games! It's a HUGE sports bar with LOTS of TVs and seating areas/options. If you don't mind the heat, they have a huge outdoor patio with plenty of TVs. Me?? We avoided that until the sun went down lol. Inside they still have a lot of tables and TVs or you can opt for the bar and there's plenty of TVs there as well. I love that the vibe in here is super chill! Everyone was very nice. The indoor bar area is massive, and the patio is just as big, making it great for large groups or events. It definitely has that laid-back, social vibe, and it's also dog-friendly, which is a nice touch. Customer service was good, and the drink prices were reasonable, especially for a place of this size and popularity. It did get pretty crowded, which adds to the energy if you're going for that kind of atmosphere. There isn't a full kitchen, but there was a food truck on-site (I believe it was Hearsay). It was okay--not bad, but nothing standout. You can also bring in outside food or order from nearby spots, which is convenient. Nothing super fancy or over-the-top, but if you're looking for a casual place to hang out, watch a game, and enjoy drinks with a group, this gets the job done.

I've been an avid Netherlands' futbol supporter over the last 30+ years and never knew a place existed in Houston.. but was pleasantly surprised to have seen this packed house with a very lively atmosphere inside.. They got a DJ, people were singing and dancing along to Dutch songs, definitely felt like a proper watch party. Most of the crowd there tho, like myself, weren't actually Dutch, but everyone was just there for the vibes. That said, we ended up standing outside because it was probably over capacity. Took me a good 30 minutes just to order a bucket of Heinekens. From what I can tell, this place's giving more of a neighborhood dive bar. It was hot and crowded as one can get (probably over capacity if you ask me.. the parking was hard to find in the neighborhoods nearby and we had to walk a good 5-10min), and $35 for a bucket of 6 small Heinekens isn't really the best deal.. but can't blame them. I did enjoy seeing the Dutch orange bus as it was out on display right outside the bar. Our large party had a buffet of food - all of it was basic but tasty - panko-breaded chicken tenders, chips and queso, and quesadillas. Service was actually stellar throughout our time here. Bartenders and servers came around to our group frequently to ask if they could get us anything. I did not expect that from a divey bar like this.
