Stopped in for Sunday Brunch (now wishing breakfast / brunch was served on weekdays). The french press coffee was impossibly smooth. The Peanut Butter & Banana bread was a sweet treat to share before the meal. For brunch we ordered Sunny Enchiladas (muenster cheese, beef picadillo, green chilie cream, fresh onion, in corn tortillas covered with a soft fried eggs) and Shakshuka (crushed tomatoes, toasted cumin, smoked paprika, poached eggs served with a toasted baguette). The enchiladas were delicious, but Shakshuka is my new favorite breakfast dish. We also split a Chicken Apple Club sandwich from the lunch menu. The crisp apples pair well with slices of avocado, bacon, and well seasoned grill chicken and the french fries were great too. Our waiter, Brice, was friendly and attentive. He overheard our daughter's boyfriend mention that they were celebrating their second anniversary and that his birthday was the previous day. He surprised our table with an enormous slice of cake Birthday Cake to celebrate the occasions. The General Public is highly recommended. We will be back for happy hour & dinner soon. read more

Walked in for the first time and thought the place looked pretty cool. There were 5 people at the bar including me and my girl. Service was cold and nonexistent. Over $10 for tiny watered down Bloody Mary's is such a joke. Also, who puts a "Bacon burger" on the menu that doesn't actually have bacon on it? Instead you get a pretentious bastardized mayonnaise bacon sauce they pass off as "aioli". Do yourself a favor and go to Yard House instead. read more

Located in the city centre, right opposite the escape room. Came here for Sunday brunch, they actually have ONE DOLLAR mimosas, hard to believe right? But yes, they do. I got the grapefruit and mango mimosa and they were great, especially for the price. It was hard for me to decide what to eat off the menu so i settled for the Grilled Cheese, it was a lot of food and was actually good, tasted more like a chicken sandwich really. My friend ordered the french toast which looked very boring, but I'm assuming she enjoyed it. Our bill came up a little too high. Very nice place! I came here for a business lunch, and loved the food. I like that it's not your typical lunch menu items. We started off with a couple of appetizers. The best ever was the Crab Hushpuppies. Hands down, these were absolutely delicious. The Oven Roasted Cauliflower was okay. I'm not a big fan of cauliflower, so take my opinion on that item with a grain of salt. Here are a few items that were around the table: Mama's Tamale Pie, Pork & Greens, Shrimps & Grits and Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. The General Public knows about good food! The portions are large, so you don't have to worry about leaving and still being hungry. They focus on filling your belly instead of serving you "pretty" food in small helpings. The restaurant is located in City Center, so there will be plenty of parking somewhere. The inside is spacious and there is a full bar. If you are a whiskey drinker like myself, then you will absolutely love the wide variety of whiskey, scotch and bourbon. Get you a designated driver because you can sit here and get totally lit! They have other drinks but the whiskey is what you should focus on. Again, take my personally biased opinion with a grain of salt! LOL! I've been coming here for so long now for their happy hours and I come here specifically for their old fashion drinks at happy hours. And it's not just me, it's all of my friends, we come practically every week or so. We went there this weekend and they tell us it's no longer on their happy hour menu that really broke my heart. The other cocktails on their menu is pretty avg. Sad that they took off the best cocktail. Now i dont think any of us are going to make that effort of driving out here, this place has lost our business. A few weeks ago, my friend and I went to The General Public for their brunch. Hence the review will be based on that. Service (3/5): For being only a party of 2, I wish the server was more attentive as we were 1 out of the 3 tables that were filled. That is my only complaint, other than that the service was okay. Ambiance (4/5): The interior is nice but can get a bit hectic as there is so much to look at. I did enjoy how different sections of the restaurant had different wall displays though. Also, a very big space. Love the half circle booths that they had. Steak & Eggs Migas (2/5): Very bland. This also came with hash au gratin that was also a bit bland. If this were to be fixed, the dish would be a lot more flavorful. Also, I liked the salsa that it came with. Portion wise, a pretty good amount! Chicken Apple Club (4/5): My friend ordered this and she enjoyed it. I wish I asked her for her opinion, sorry friends! Mimosa (3/5): I enjoy when my mimosa has more Champagne than juice. And General public did well on that. Yum! And for only a $1, you best believe I had to get it. Birthday Cake (4/5): O.M.G. SO SO SO GOOD AND HUGE. For someone who doesn't have that big of a sweet tooth I really enjoyed this cake. You can definitely tell when you eat this that it is homemade. Although it may have been a bit sweet for me, the icing was omg my favorite part. And man do I usually not like icing (yes.. I may be that person who takes off like half the icing on cakes/cupcakes.. This place is AMAZING!! My boyfriend and I came here for Saturday brunch around 12:30 PM. We sat at the bar and the bartender, Hannah, was so awesome!! She took care of our first round of mimosas (which are $1 all day, with your choice of OJ, grapefruit, or cranberry- uhhh amazing? You bet. Am I mimosa drunk right now? You bet.) We ordered the bacon toast, which was heavenly, and then I got the Migas and my boyfriend got the Quail and Pancakes (a take on chicken and waffles, only way wayyyyy better). The food was fresh and delicious, and the portions were huge. To wrap up brunch, Hannah made me a hibiscus and fruit gin infused martini and Mike got a coffee/baileys/frangelico/amazing delicious coffee drink that looked and tasted like a slice of heaven. To top it all off, the Gm, who was so nice and welcoming, brought us a slice of the birthday cake (even though it wasn't our birthday!!) that was fluffy and sweet- and could feed a family of 6 comfortably for a week. Located in City Center, this restaurant was awesome! Gave me a southern rustic vibe and I was here for it. I was here for brunch and the crowd was very light. Our server was attentive and gave great suggestions regarding what we should order. I ordered the Green Chile Grilled Cheese with Chicken sandwich for my main dish. As an appetizer, I got the crab Hushpuppies. My adult beverage was "The Sweet El Diablo Rita". Even with our big party, our order came out fairly quickly and no one's food was incorrect. The crab hushpuppies cMe with a side of maple butter and they were yummy!!!! Warm and almost melted once you took a bite. Next, my sandwich was very tasty. I've been here twice and bit times it's been a miss not sure if it's off days or what. The first time I visited it was for a friends birthday brunch. The waiter actually spilled a mimosa on one of my friends splashing the rest of us at the table. My friend was pretty chill about it so we dried up an continued our brunch and got an on the house mimosa. The second time I visited was last Sunday and the service was awful. We waited 20 minutes to get seated at a table that was lopsided and in the sun I had to ask to be moved. We sat and waited 10-15 minutes to even get a menu or water and I was getting a bit annoyed because the $1 mimosa special is only during brunch time and brunch was almost over. Finally someone came over brought us water and we immediately ordered to avoid another long wait the waiter looked annoyed by that. After ordering we waited and waited and waited. We waited so long the couple next to us finally also got tired of waiting and dropped $2 on the table for the mimosas and left. The service was so bad the waiter didn't even notice they had left 10 minutes before he brought over their food! This place has great happy hour specials and great location as it's walking distance from work. Unfortunately, they don't have great lunch specials and their lunch menu is a bit on the limited side. I've been here for brunch, happy hour, and evening drinks. Of the three, happy hour was definitely the way to go. Their $12-14 burgers are only $5 during happy hour! They also have $4 rosé all day! They have delicious jalapeno cornbread hush puppies, and a bacon aioli for dipping their fries. So far, everything I've tried...the burger, hush puppies, oysters, fries, rosé...has been pretty tasty. Service has been pretty great...all the servers were really friendly. The one thing that concerns me here is that every time I've come here, the place is relatively empty. Thought this was just a great place for happy hour, but it's so much more. Happy hour features $3 starting at 3PM, $4 at 4PM, and $5 at 5PM for ANY of their awesome drinks. I love the Mezcal Mule. Their lunch options are also really tasty! I've tried the TGP Chicken Salad, the Chicken Apple Club, and the Green Chile Grilled Cheese. I'd recommend any of them. The Chicken Apple Club is my favorite because it's massive and I can save half for dinner. I've heard from colleagues that the fish & chips, roasted brussels sprouts, and sesame crusted tuna salad are delicious. Prices are on point and service is great! Vibe is surprisingly quiet during lunchtime but is hectic during happy hour. Try to make a reservation if you have a large group. read more

Came here for Sunday brunch to enjoy the $1 mimosa special (until 2pm). What a great deal!!! My friend and I shared the crab cake dish and it was full of crab meat!! So good!! The sausage was very flavorful...I think we had seconds. And after a couple more mimosas, we decided to try their seasonal spread - something that tastes good right now - and it sure did taste good! It was some sort of cheese spread which can't with toasted baguette slices and they also bring an extra free side is baguette slices "cuz one order is never enough". I can say that This place was highly recommend by a couple of locals... I don't think they really eat out much, I stopped in with a dozen folks and each of us looked at the menu in suprise. They really need the title of Mixologist because they are fantastic at what they do. This is no just churning out drinks- its art. Slooowest brunch service we've ever had, Saturday 1PM with an almost entirely empty restaurant. (Was almost awkward, it was so dead, we thought maybe it was closed.) We had to ask for our waiter to bring us things and remind him of food/drinks we were waiting on several times. He was polite and nice just so slooooow; uninterested or inattentive, but just never around; we had to flag him down at least 3 times, with long intervals of zero service; we ended up just asking another waiter for refills/creamer/our appetizer as we sat and waited. Their bar drinks took ~15 minutes to get to the table, as well as the food took an excruciatingly slow time to get to our table. I had to tell them we had appointments to get to, just to see if they could hurry up whatever the heck was taking so long and not-to-subtle hint that we were being overlooked/ignored. Which was weird since it was so dead. There was only one other table being used in the entire place that we could see, with a few customers sitting at the bar. What gives? Maybe there was a good excuse, something happening in the kitchen, or maybe our waiter had to make drinks for the bar as well, but was aggravating enough to decide midway that we need never come back. Also the deciding factor ended up being the food. The food was just blah, unfortunately, nothing special; the banana/peanut butter/bread appetizer thing was plain and unappetizing, spit it out, didn't eat. Funny enough the only person who ate it was the pregnant one, owning to her psycho food cravings, which was pretty funny. No one else wanted it. The French toast was just ok, wouldn't recommend -one tiny slice of bread, with more whipped cream than toast, is a pretty sad excuse for a brunch meal. The waiter upcharged it as well, added the extra "carnival" price, even though I didn't get it. Annoying, would have told him to change it but I was just irritated and wanted to leave. About 3 minutes later the bartender offered a toast and the whole place drank up. Fun! No idea about the food, but pretty fun so far. Okay.. schishito and shrooms is awesome.
