What a shocker this place was. Headed out to get a late night dinner after working all day and realizing what time it was. Didn't want to go too heavy and didn't want to sit down and have a long dinner so my son took me here. I was surprised that there was a line at least 6-7 cars deep in the drive thru and there was a line inside waiting to order. I suddenly had a feeling that I was at In n Out. Neither of us had been here and it's only been open for about a month so we'll see if the lines die down over time. We had to order a pastrami since it's what they're famous for. We also got a roast beef dip sandwich and got a large order of onion rings to share. We sat and waited in a packed restaurant at 10pm and when our number was called my son went and grabbed it. It comes in a brown bag. The pastrami was huge in comparison to the roast beef. Both were good but I think the pastrami won out for both of us. The thing we couldn't get over was how many onion rings we actually got in that order. We both ate them and took some home and both had some the next day and there were still a few more for one more serving! That was a great serving size for the money. For a quick but quality meal this was the right choice. The music and energy in the place even late night was refreshing.

It's overhyped!! We'd been looking forward to trying The Hat and waited over 2 months for the crowds to die down a bit. Honestly, we were not impressed. The food wasn't bad, but i personally think the pastrami sandwich at Capriottis is much better. The Hat's food just lacked flavour and didn't live up to the hype. We're glad we gave it a try, but it definitely wouldn't be our first choice when we're craving a great pastrami sandwich.

It was really good! I've never had a pastrami sandwich that juicy. The meat was tender, flavorful, and piled so high that it actually needed more bread to balance it out. One sandwich could easily feed two people. I could only eat a quarter of mine, and my boyfriend struggled to finish half of his. The only thing I thought it was missing was Swiss cheese--but even without it, the sandwich was delicious. This place stays busy! The line inside and outside never slowed down the entire time we were there. We were lucky enough to grab a table after waiting for someone to finish their meal. At just $14 a sandwich, the prices were more than fair considering the generous portions and quality. It was worth every penny. In my Arnold Schwarzenegger voice, "I'll be back!"

We kept driving by this place and kept driving because the lines looked ridiculously long and we were always in a rush. Not today. Today we had plenty of time and there wasn't much of a line so we decided to brave it. Plenty of free parking and a short walk to the venue. Once we entered there was a short line. About 5-6 pp in line only and the line went fast. We wanted a pastrami sandwich that would wow us so I chose pastrami dip sandwich. Hubby chose chili cheese fries. The size of the fries! It was enough to feed 3, maybe 4 people. What I like is the self serve dispensers for the drinks. It allows me to go back and get a refill before I left. The pastrami sandwich was also big. It was enough for 2 people to share for sure. They put lots of shaved pastrami in it that spilled out of the bread. My only disappointment was there weren't any au jus to dip the sandwich into or some kind of sauce. The pastrami was also very thin and a bit dry compared to the best pastrami sandwich I've had in the past. We sat outside on a bench because we brought our dog with us. It was late, past 9pm so it was no longer hot. Peanut enjoyed the French fries I'll be back to try their milkshake and other menu item. Still waiting for that wow lol

I finally got the chance to stop by the infamous The Hat. I happened to drive by, noticed the drive-thru line was surprisingly short, and of course I had to jump in and give it a try. I ordered the pastrami dip and the tuna melt. The pastrami was packed with flavor, and the sandwich was huge. My only wish was that it came with some chopped veggies or grilled onions to add a little more texture and balance. Even so, it was a solid, satisfying sandwich. The surprise favorite for me was actually the tuna melt. The toppings really brought everything together, making it flavorful and more enjoyable than I expected. I know they're also famous for their pastrami cheese fries, but I had to save those for another visit. I'll definitely be back to give them a try next time.

I have been a big fan of The Hat for years. We stop by the California locations at least 1x a year. We thought we'd wait for a bit to try this one as it always looks so busy. There was definitely a long line in the drive-thru but inside we were quickly able to order. The wait for the order to be received was maybe 5 min. I don't know but it didn't taste the same somehow. I felt like the fries were a little too stiff like maybe they weren't cooked all the way through. And the pastrami itself tasted different from the Cali locations. I might be being crazy but we'll be stopping next time we're in Cali to verify.

Drive-thru or eat inside, either way, it is worth the wait!! The Pastrami sandwich is a 13/10. The Onion rings with gravy are a 13/10. Service & ambiance are always a 10! Restroom is clean They even have a cute merch tshirt for under $20!

Nothing special. I waited a bit to let the crowds die down. Arrived at 10 and went inside. If you have even been to Ted's Hotdogs in Buffalo, NY, the vibe and look is very similar. The only person on the staff that ack anyone was the guy holding the door open who I think was the manager. The food was uneventful. I ordered the turkey on the French roll, no mayo and add pickles. There was zero flavor. No seasoning at all. The bread was flavorless as well. I added spread when I got home and threw it in the air fryer and still bland. Try onion rings were ok, no dipping sauce, just ketchup packets. The potato salad was the best thing. I ordered just a side of pastrami for my husband since he doesn't eat bread and he thought it was good. Way too many other options in town. Prices were good.

I waited a total of 20 minutes from ordering until I got my food and was pleasantly surprised. I'm so glad I waited until the hype died down before I tried to even attempt to get in line. We ordered the pastrami melt, the chili, and two pastrami dips. The pastrami dips were good. I thought the pastrami had a good flavor and wasn't too salty. The chili was meat chili with no beans and was just okay to me- not my favorite. However, the star of the show for me was the pastrami melt. It had a great flavor and the cheese was not too overpowering. The bread was nice and crispy like a good grilled cheese sandwich. I will definitely be getting that again. The only thing I would change is the slices of the pastrami. They seemed super small and shredded almost. I would prefer a larger slice. I didn't realize the menu was so big and I will definitely be trying other items when I go back!

I finally got around to checking out the hype. I live close by so always knew about the hype was coming from LA. The day it open like OMG line out the door and drive thru. Insane. It still is but not as bad if walk in (drive thru the same always long line). Total luck. Literally walked in and straight to cashier place my order. NOT normal. Five minutes later line almost out the door. I ended up getting the pastrami dip because known for so first time order. I also got wet gravy fries. The pastrami is for real LEGIT. It moist, tasty, and could have just bowl of pastrami be happy. Talk about loaded. One sandwich is huge. I barely put dent in the fries cause was full. The bread sandwich's was on point. Whole sandwich was amazing. The brown gravy fries was tasty. The gravy had great flavor and nice amount covered the fries. So much more of the menu look forward to checking out. Service was five stars. They have it done amount of employees and efficient!!

When heavily hyped restaurants expand to Las Vegas, the strategy is to wait for the lines to die down and for management to work out any kinks before you dine, and I'm so glad I did that. Inside The Hat, my order was taken after a few minutes wait. I found it to be quite organized and efficient, no issues there. Check out the pickup counter and load up on all the little spicy peppers you want to set your mouth on fire. If you're coming with a larger group, expect to split up as most tables seat up to four, and you'd be lucky if the one table that seats more than four isn't in use. When I drove thru The Hat, it was also pretty organized thanks to signage and stanchions. On a Saturday night, we waited the same amount of time we'd wait in an average In-N-Out drive thru - come with this expectation and you won't have an issue. Portion sizes are insanely generous. There really isn't much of a difference between a small order of onion rings and a large - either way they're the best I've ever had! Order the pastrami chili cheese fries and you can feed a family. Their grilled cheese stuffed with pastrami is life changing. Bite after bite, it seems like it never ends lol. Enjoy and ready for leftovers!

As a longtime Las Vegas local, I was excited to finally try this famous California pastrami spot now that it's made its way here. The service was excellent, and even though there was a line inside, it moved quickly. Finding a table once the early dinner crowd rolled in was definitely the bigger challenge! We ordered the chili cheese fries and a pastrami dip sandwich. The fries were absolutely loaded with cheese and piled high. While the chili wasn't really my style, I can totally see why it's so popular with Californians, my husband loved it. Thankfully, the generous amount of cheese more than made up for my lack of enthusiasm for the chili itself. The pastrami dip was the star of the meal. The pastrami was perfectly fatty and flavorful, and the bread was incredibly soft, making every bite delicious. And as simple as it sounds, my favorite part of the meal was the cherry Fanta, it was the perfect pairing. Overall, I can see why this place has such a loyal following. I probably won't be coming often since the chili isn't my favorite, but I'll happily tag along whenever my husband gets one of his chili cravings, especially for that pastrami sandwich and cherry Fanta.

I've seen the negative reviews, well, I have to say, those people really don't know a good pastrami sandwich when they taste one. Pulled into the parking lot tonight, asked the worker that was directing traffic, I asked him, was it faster to go inside, he said yes. The worker that was watching the line to get in offered me a menu and a water while I waited. It took about 20 minutes to get in. I ordered a pastrami dip, wet fries and a small soda. The pastrami was delicious, reminded me of what it tasted like in Cali, a little fatty, which is fine, full of flavor, the bread was soft and perfect.. The wet fries were very tasty, honestly, two people could have eaten from the fries, gravy was perfect. The temps of both items were perfect! The staff were super friendly. I think after all of the hype is over, they will still be selling tons of sandwich's, and maybe even looking for a second location. Welcome to Vegas!! read more

I have been waiting quite a while to try this place but the lines have been so long. Finally bit the bullet and jumped into line. 30 minutes in the drive through but looked about the same for inside. Was so worth the wait!! Ordered the pastrami dip and a large onion ring. We could have shared one sandwich and a regular order of rings since they were so large. Sandwich was amazing. Went on day 5 of them being open at 4pm, and waited in line about 40 minutes. Was hot, but they had lots of shade for the line and someone outside giving out cold bottled water. My only disappointment was no music in the interior - I was looking forward to the 50s vibe. Ah well ... Food portions are large - as expected - and tasty. All I can say is WOW for my first time trying The Hat. Easily the best pastrami sandwich I've ever had! The pricing is an incredible value for the amount and quality of pastrami and fries you get. It honestly makes me wonder how they make money serving that much food for such a low price. They just opened and, even with the long line, everything moved fairly quickly because the process was smooth and orderly. Some of these negative reviews just need to be a little more patient. The staff was very friendly, and I really liked the old-school vibe inside. Serving a great product with excellent customer service is exactly why there's such a huge demand for this place. To be honest this place is extremely overhyped for what it has to offer. I wont come again and would not recommend it to anyone who is curious about all the attention it's getting. I ordered a pastrami dip, roast beef dip, and the pastrami chili fries. I have to say I was extremely disappointed in the food. I spent $51 dollars for 2 sandwiches, fries, and a drink and I feel robbed. For a place that dedicates themselves to the sandwich "since 1951" there seems to be no appreciation for what makes a sandwich good. The bread used for the dips was not toasted or warm at all and had this weird humid texture as if it was steamed. The dip itself was just a mountain of unflavored pastrami with some pickles and mustard. There was nothing special about the sandwich besides the monstrous proportions ment to hide the lack of flavor. The same goes for the roast beef dip except that it was much smaller than the pastrami dip. None are able to justify their $12.90 price tag. I think the biggest let down was the chili pastrami fries. The fries were thick, soggy, and didn't seem fresh at all. The chili is very bland and just feels like a paste used to keep the mountain of pastrami together. The cherry on top is the $18.09 needed to get your hands on them. I spent $51 dollars for 2 sandwiches, fries, and a drink and I feel robbed. read more

Pretty trash food. Ate here for the first time, I got sick for 2 days. Place is low quality garbage dump. I really don't understand why they have so many people working, they serve literally slop dog food. It's not pastrami, it's fat with some pastrami added. Rubbery, oily, no flavor, pastrami. Again my stomach, is messed up for 2 days after eating this slop. read more

An EZ 5 Star from me. Haven't had 1 for about 6 years. Was there on May 6th ( Opening Day ) . I was Shocked at the Looooooong Lines and i do mean Long. The Hat was prepared for this. I was told the Drive Thru wait was about 3 Hours , so i decided to use the walk in . Got in line @ 5PM and placed my order at 7. They had Restrooms outside and gave out Free water . Much appreciated by all . The Pastrami Dip was as GR8 as i remembered. Ditto for the Chili and Orange Bang . Would i wait in that line again ? Nope. I'll give it a week or so for our return visit . Felt sorry for all the Employees there. Worked their Butts off . No Tip Jar, but i gave a couple of them some CA$H . They deserved it 100% read more

So this is very biased. I am leaving a review based off my youth/adulthood experience. I can't believe the Hat has made it to Las Vegas. I had no clue I was exiting the freeway at Rainbow and I saw the sign and I said to myself "no freaking way". This is a memory of my life. Whenever I visit Los Angeles l always try to go to the hat for the chili cheese fries and pastrami. I am absolutely stoked about this being here. So to be absolutely transparent this review isn't because I have tried the food here in Las Vegas, it is because I literally seek this place out every time I visit my hometown. It wasn't that good to me, however it wasn't that bad either if that makes any sense. Maybe my expectations were too high and in turn it fell short to what I expected . We live up in Aliante and made a special trip to give the world famous pastrami a try. After trying it, the stars would have to align just right to have it again . Meaning if we were in the area and in the mood for pastrami we might go again. But no more special trips. read more

We waited awhile for the excitement of their opening to calm down.We went on a weekday morning .We were about 4 deep in drive thru so wait was minimal. Ordered the pastrami sandwich. Guessing since they just opened the meat was barely Luke warm. What got me was the meat looked like it was left over from night before. I believe it should be more of a pink color. Not brown as shown in pic. If that wasn't enough my soda came with this long hair stuck on the side of coke. Been to Calif. Hat numerous times and never had this happen. When we moved from California, we drove back just to eat at The Hat. Now our drive is much shorter! The pastrami sandwich at The Hat is delicious. The portions are very generous and although we share one sandwich, there is always leftover pastrami. We also like the onion rings - - even the small portion is big. We've had pastrami in New York, (and at New York-style delis), but in our opinion, The Hat's pastrami is the best. We arrived at 9:45 a.m. and there were already about 20 people ahead of us. Within 5 minutes, there were 30 people behind us. A kind employee offered us bottles of water. They opened the door promptly at 10:00 and it took 20 minutes to place our order. After ordering, we received our food within 5 minutes. The employees behind the counter were courteous and efficient, and they were obviously well-trained. Kudos to management! read more

Came here for the first time yesterday, and overall we had a great experience. We went inside to order and got in line at 10:07am. There were already several people ahead of us, but the line moved pretty quickly. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes for our food, which wasn't bad at all considering how busy they were. We ordered three pastrami dips, a chili cheese dog, a regular hot dog, gravy fries, chili cheese fries, and three medium drinks. Our total came to about $81. Everything was really good. My only minor complaint is that I wish the pastrami sandwiches had a little more pickle and mustard, but the flavor was still excellent. Or a condiment station that has mustrard packets. The portions are huge! I couldn't even finish half of my sandwich. The leftovers held up really well too and were just as good the next day. Also, major kudos to the hardworking staff behind the counter. I bet they are nonstop from open to close, and even so, they kept everything moving efficiently while staying friendly. read more

Waited years for the hat to come to Vegas and it's finally here and didn't disappoint.... Prices are good, portions are amazing.... Food is always so fresh.. to me it's worth the wait, the lines have gotten more manageable as time goes on, the servers are always hard at work and friendly, they always have someone in the lobby cleaning so the atmosphere is clean and smells amazing.... Th pastrami dip sandwich was amazing- really yummy and overstuffed! It was as good as the pastrami I got from delis in New York. Unfortunately, as a senior- the 3000 mg of sodium in the sandwich could be a challenge for my blood pressure med. If your body can handle the sodium, you must try this sandwich! read more

Staff were extremely friendly. The restaurant was clean and crowded. The pastrami was just okay. Nothing over the top in terms of taste and wanting to comeback for more. I liken it to an Arby's but instead of roast beef they serve pastrami. No disappointed that I went but not craving to comeback again and again. If I ever to eat there again it will probably be because a friend wants try it for their first time. read more

The Hat finally opened in Las Vegas drove across town to pick up my order! It's new so I did the drive thru took about an hour in line. When I gave my order the cashier was very courteous! I ordered the pastrami sandwich she recommended that i get it separately with the bread, meat and the au jus on the side and constructed it at home so it wouldn't be soggy! Did the same with the chili fries! The pastrami burger was massive! Only ate a 1/4 of the burger! Onion rings were crispy! I didn't go inside! But I'm sure it's like the ones in California! I grew up going to the hat as a child whenever my family would travel to California so the fact that it's now here in Vegas makes me so happy. The food is delicious. I have not had one bad thing here but love the onion rings. You get a lot for your money, just beware of the time because the lines can be long. Was leery due to LA provenance; but received a gift card, so off I went. Arrived 1:30pm, a traffic jam for the drive thru, thus I joined the queue inside. Ordered the signature item, a pastrami dip; customized mine with Swiss cheese. Small,spicy pepperoncinis are gratis. Twenty five minute wait, but service was accurate indeed. Did not order on rye ( is not a deli after all), the roll held a goodly amount of tasty, moist pastrami with the right degree of fat. Adding a bit of Gulden's brown mustard, this was definitely a great pastrami sandwich. Would have loved an egg cream on the side.... Simple and straight forward burger. The meat was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The sauce was not over powering. I loved the diced onions; whole onion slices can be overpowering. The pickles!! I'm a sucker for house made pickles, and these DID NOT disappoint. I could eat a whole plate of those. The tots... you can easily mess up tots, but these were crisp and well seasoned. We didn't try them with the sauce and all the fixins, but they were simple and delicious on there own. All in all we had a enjoyed our visit, and will be back the next time we're in town :)

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, was familiar with The Hat but there were none in the city of Los Angeles, they were all on the outskirts in Orange County and the San Gabriel Valley mostly. Never heard a lot of hype about it but when I heard they were coming to Vegas, where great pastrami is extremely rare I decided to try it. I waited in line for over an hour, when I ordered, my pastrami did come very very fast. It was just average, not good, I didn't quite finish the whole thing, just bland and not much flavor. Definitely doesn't compare it to Johnnies in LA. And definitely not worth the long wait. Farmer Boys used to have much better pastrami, but all the sudden about a year ago they stopped serving pastrami. Then I went back for a hamburger and pastrami was back on the menu, I ordered it and it was horrible and they give you far less meat than they used to while it costed more, I believe $18. Apparently they changed vendors and are now getting different meat. Oh well, I guess I'll keep searching for good pastrami in Vegas. Wild Fig in Summerlin has excellent pastrami, however it's not sliced thin, it's a huge piece, kind of like a piece of brisket you would get at a barbecue place. If you have any mobility issues you are screwed unless you want to stay in your car and drive up or in a wheelchair for the walk up. If you have ANY health issues the salt in everything will destroy you and if you still want to die you can still technically eat here as long as you hook up to dialysis first and start flushing which should be great if you have Davita truck follow you or you have a unit in your vehicle as you'll be 40 minutes into dialysis before you order and another 20 before you touch the bag and you can start pissing out ice cream rock salt. I do miss the socal atmosphere of gang banger shooting at each other over turf and drug wars and hiding behind the quaint bulletproof stucco and sign that stayed the same .....it just doesn't feel the same ....but the sandwich size has remained the same at least even though price doubled but, the 40 minute to a hour wait is a PITA!!! I guess we'll have to wait for a new Chinese plague to get the crowd thinned out or the new shiny penny Exhilarating woo woo factor wears off and all the vehicle traffic stops looking like sperm looking for an egg. Even so, it still felt like I was there a while since I went through the drive-thru. I ordered the well-done chili cheese fries with pastrami, a small onion rings, and a large Orange Bang. For as crazy busy as it was, I was expecting some really great food. We ordered the Pastrami Dip, Pastrami Melt, and Chili Cheese Fries. My stepson had the Pastrami Dip and he said it tasted like Caprioti's Pastrami. I had the Pastrami Melt, which I thought was pretty good. Chili cheese fries were really disappointing. Shredded cheese had a weird taste. Chili was severely under seasoned. Fries weren't anything special. Service was really good though, they work fast and been working hard since they opened. It was $40 for the 3 items. We might try again at some point in the future and have something different but for now, it's not worth the hype. Too expensive. read more

Waited in the drive thru for just under 2 hrs, which was what we expected. Did the Pastrami dip, beef dip, chili-cheese fries, onion rings and 2 med drinks. Not expecting the $54 price tag! Pastrami was ok, there are MUCH better sandwiches in the valley! Beef was crazy dry, terrible with no taste so to speak! Chili-cheese fries were okay when still hot but little to no spice, no good nice home! Onion rings had zero taste and were also very dry! Sadly it figured this is from California, expensive and not good! Will not recommend to anyone! On a positive note, no issues at all with the people who work there, hard job! read more

The Hat is a great addition to Las Vegas! If you're planning to stop by, I recommend going early since the lines can get pretty long, especially with it being a new location. The pastrami was definitely the highlight of the meal--tender, flavorful, and worth ordering. The chili cheese fries were also good, but be warned: the portion is huge and can easily be shared by multiple people. Overall, I had a good experience and would definitely come back. I guess I dont get the hype. The pastrami was ok, but I have had better. The roast beef was just plain dry. The gravy was yummy if you have it over fried chicken it would be yummy. Onion rings fried beautifully but no flavor to the rings. Chili cheese fries, huge but just bland on spices for chili flavor. Will we go back nah, but hey we tried. Waited in line 2.5 hours. Waited in line. Just under an hour from start to finish not too bad. I was actually expecting much longer. Ordered a bunch of food and the one thing my wife wanted was onion rings and they didn't put them in the bag. I'll be catching some heat for not checking but it was a big order and I wasn't going to pull everything out of the bags. read more
