I don't think I had had a waffle in a long time. I looked up waffle near me. The Waffle Experience came up and it was within walking distance. I was pointed to a table and told the menu was on a scan code taped to the table. I asked the waitress, "Do you just have an old fashioned waffle, egg and bacon combo?" She replied, "Sure! We have The Old Fashioned Waffle Combo!" "Sounds great! A large OJ please." I replied. There were four tables with seven customers being served. Within minutes my food arrived. I cut into my waffle thinking it would light and springy; Lisa Douglas's hot cakes on Green Acres were lighter than these two little waffles. As the hot cakes, I mean the waffles cooled down, they became hard like a roofing shingles. I'm not kidding. Waffles are supposed to be light and airy not like doughy lumps. I ordered a second waffle thinking it was old batter but it was the same. I didn't say anything. The waitress was nice and the place clean. You can see the cooks preparing the food and they seem to care. I swear, if their restaurant fails, they can shingle houses with their waffles... I thought I was just being too sensitive but the waitress told customers at another table, "We don't use batter we use dough." Yuck... Go someplace else. No one needs to experience these waffles. Went here for Mother's Day. We ordered food and waited for 45 minutes, and they came back and stated that they were out of the food we ordered. We then waited an additional 15 minutes, and the order was incorrect, some waffles were still chewy, some food was cold, and some waffles were so hard. To top it off, they served my mother last on Mother's Day. We have come on other days when it's not packed, and they are fine, but I would not come back anymore. When we spoke to the server, they said that the cook was new and that they were a small business and were very busy. People were waiting so long they started to leave before receiving their food. You can help them out with their "busy" days by not coming here and making them less busy. Do not come here if you have a special occasion (or any occasion for that matter). Too much of a trendy place for me. It's def cute with all the signs and decor around. The menu looks great when I checked it out on Yelp. We came in after a little girls get away and there were just the three of us. I didn't drink bring that we just came off girls weekend so I can't tell you about that. But it was a looong wait. And it was crowded. Normally I can get past all of that if I know I'm going to pig out on something amazing. After looking at the impressive menu I was feeling patient. Once we Got our food, we were starving. Huge portions. Very pleasing to the eye. But once we all had our first bite, we quickly agreed that it was all a pretty picture but not too much inside. Tried Waffle Experience in Folsom a few years back. Came to the Elk Grove location recently and WOW! I cannot believe the flavors and quality of dishes are still the same. "Farmyard Foghorn - honey buffalo free range chicken, cherrywood smoked bacon, bleu cheese crumbles, arugula, shaved onion, basil aioli, fresh herb waffle" with a side of potatoes please. YUM!! Buffalo sauce in the morning probably isn't the greatest choice but still worth it. I'm obsessed with all of the textures in this entree. Service was great, staff was fast , accommodating and nice. Ambiance is not bad for a restaurant located in a small plaza. We sat in their outdoor area out back which was pleasant despite the flies. They have lots of umbrellas for shade. Outside of the bacon and potatoes, the food was not tasty. I had avocado toast with a side of bacon. Wifey had eggs, bacon, potatoes and a waffle as an add on. Based on taste and texture, I don't believe the eggs were cracked from and egg and scrambled. More of some sort of egg mixture or maybe real eggs mixed with a little water or milk. In any event they were not a good eating experience, runny and super soft. Staff was quick to bring us more that were cooked a little harder. My main disappointment was the waffle. We had a plain waffle with no powdered sugar with butter syrup and whip cream on the side. If you have "waffle" in the name of your restaurant.......the waffles should be amazing. Any waffle should be great that comes from a place names The Waffle Experience. Could have been an off day for them but the waffle itself was flavorless outside of the occasional bite of what seemed to be undissolved batter. There was no hint of anything in the waffle, no butter, no vanilla, no nothing. It may as well have been a soft edible piece of styrofoam. Adding butter helped but again the waffles should be amazing if waffle is in your name and all you do is breakfast and brunch. First off the food portions were really small. I had the rib-eye scramble and I had maybe three pieces of ribeye in the entire scramble, my husband ordered the same and had the same experience. The potatoes were dried out and overcooked. The toast consisted of one slice of bread cut in two. This is definitely not the place to go if you have a family or are hungry. This was my second time visiting here and both times delivered the same level of satisfaction. The Waffle Experience is located in a busy part of Elk Grove. Because the restaurant isn't that large it's hard to keep up with the demanding crowds. However, each time I came it was on a Saturday morning during brunch hours. A time that's usually convenient for a lot of folks. It was 11 am, we were told the wait for me & my friend was 25-35 minutes for a table. The bar was first come first serve so we scored two seats on the edge to bypass the long wait! The restaurant has a cute rustic touch with majority of the open area for dining visible when you first walk in, along with the bar and back patio for seating equipped with umbrellas. Hallelujah for shade! They have a couple tv's, one of them even has a live camera feed to view plates being made in the kitchen. I thought this was a cool feature. I ordered the Farmer in the Dell, a delicious savory plate served with country fried hormone free steak (a bit chewy to me) & thick white gravy, cage free egg (I had my egg scrambled), a fluffy herb waffle laid on a bed of baby kale topped with chives and your choice of a side. I chose fried potatoes which were cooked very well with a great crunch. The presentation on our plates were excellent but the downside during both my visits is the food came out slightly warm to cool. We really enjoy this spot and glad there is another location really close by in Elk Grove! FYI, they are having a Valentine's Day special going on. I wanted to like this place so badly. Cute place and was so excited for brunch which I hardly ever do. Seems like a slow morning or havent picked up yet. We got there at 11AM. Lots of seats and tables available. We were seated right away. We had 4 breakfast plates and 1 waffle plate. The person who ordered waffles got their plate within 15 minutes. 45 mins in and none of the other orders came out. No one came to check on us or refill our waters. I had to flag a waitress down to ask where's our food. People after us were seated at tables around us were all served. We order first. It was very disappointing because we can see 2 of our plates just chilling on the counters waiting for someone to serve it. Tried to wave the waitress down to pay for just the waffle and cancel the rest and the waitress walks over with our food which was cold. Cold country gravy is the nastiest thing I've ever had and I love country gravy. I wanted to like this place so much but the service made me very upset and frustrated. I called to verify if there was outdoor seating. He saved my name and prepared my table. The host, server, cook extraordinaire remembered my name, greeted my husband & I. He also sat us at our table. They were short staffed but, none less the service was wonderful! The tables are spaced out and the food was delicious. I ordered a berry waffle dish with lemon curd! It was so flavorful! I enjoyed the fresh berries and whipped topping! It was a nice compliment to the waffle! We also tried the Praise the Lard dish! Pork Belly and Eggs (your way) over waffles is a savory dish! The pork belly hash browns are super tasty! We really enjoyed the food! My only downside is that I left my leftovers at the table. My husband, my two little girls and I came here for the first time on a Sunday. We knew it would be busy and the service would be slow, but when other guests are seated 30 mins after you & are already done and you are STILL waiting for your food something doesn't add up. The server never apologized for the wait, we were sitting at the table for 20 mins until someone asked us if we wanted something to drink. The food was ok. I got the farmer and the dell and the chicken was really dry and chewy and they put wayyyyyy too much gravy. My husband got the chicken and waffles and he seemed to like it. I took a bite and the chicken was tender and the apples on top made it more flavorful. My daughter's got a side of waffles which they hated- it was a little too doughy. I've been to other locations but my husband has never been to a waffle experience so I was pretty bummed that this is what the Elk Grove location had to offer. After yearsss, I decided to give the Elk Grove location a try and was reminded again why I never came back to the original spot way back when they first opened in Natomas. Being a Bruxie fan, and having several great experiences with loaded-waffle type establishments in SoCal, I was so excited when The Waffle Experience first opened in Sacramento. But like all things butter faced, looks can be deceiving. Yeah, the picks look amazing, oozing with colorful textures, and fresh ingredients. But trust me, the flavors are elementary and basic. Seasoned Potatoes 3/5* Salty, crunchy edges. They were better and crispier at the Natomas location, but this was actually one of the better parts of the meal, sad to say. Chicken and Waffles 2/5* The chicken was actually really good and juicy. Wasn't as crispy as I would've liked, but probably because it was drenched in orange marmalade that was all over the plate, overpowering every bite. It was pretty disgusting after a couple bites. All I could taste was the sweet marmalade. The waffle was dry, dense, flavorless and fell apart .. still the same as I remembered. What a disappointment. Found the Beef 3/5* Just your typical burger flavors. This tasted better than the Chix n Waffles, but I'm biased because I love arugula and bacon and it had both. The dense waffle ruined it though. It would've been way better on brioche buns. I said this the first time I tried TWE and I'll say it again. For a place called The Waffle Experience, they sure suck at waffles. This was my favorite part of this place: that it had something for someone that had a sweet tooth, or someone that does not want a sweet dish and prefers something savory. One year after the Waffle Experience opened, I can definitely say they have learned to make the experience better! I reserved using the Yelp App, checked in upon arrival, and after a few minutes, my party was taken to our table. We didn't have to wait another 10-15 minutes like other places where you reserve and they take awhile to seat you. There's a wide variety of brunch items available. I greatly appreciate their fresh food to fork model and can taste the difference by distinctly differentiating each ingredient! They also tailor their menu depending on what's in season and I highly recommend entertaining the specials on the wall before looking at the menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal and said they'd like to come back. I ordered the orange juice, Liberty Coffee, and special Gettin' Leid (ingredients in picture) and liked how sweet and tropical the flavor was. Preparation and delivery took less than 10 minutes and we watched the live feed of the plates being prepared at its last stages. We completed our experience with one of their desserts. Although we were distraught since we had to flag down our waitress because she didn't check up on us after dropping off our main dishes nor did she apologize for neglecting us. No asking if we wanted another cup of coffee or juice or top off our water. The prices are higher than expected but it's because of the freshness. If they worked more to reach an excellent customer service for an upscale brunch, I'd be open to giving them a higher rating. For now I'm increasing my rating from a 3 to a 4 star. read more

We were very excited to visit this weekend given all of the amazing reviews! Especially looked forward to the chicken and waffles. We were seated outside in the little tent area after a 40min wait. The waitress was lovely and attentive but when the food was delivered, we were sorely disappointed. The fried steak that came was very very tough and the entire outer batter detached from the actual meat the moment we tried to cut it. The meat was tough and the until table shook as we tried to cut it. We explained that the beef was inedible and our waitress brought a separate piece of chicken to replace it. The chicken and waffle also had a piece of chicken (thin and fried) that was basically so hard that I couldn't cut it. The additional charge we paid for the pork belly hash ended with a pork belly hash that had quintessentially no pork belly. Also disappointed by that. There was a 3% credit card fee added directly to our check when we asked for the bill (even without mentioning we were going to pay by card) To top everything off, we were bombarded by flies during the entire time. Located right next to the vegan restaurant Loving Hut, The Waffle Experience is a nice alternative to the typical restaurant, and centers most (if not all) of it's dishes around waffles. My girlfriend had mentioned wanting to come here previously, but I didn't have much to go on as far as what type of food their was. But since we were in the area this past weekend, we decided to stop in with our boys for a late breakfast/brunch type of meal. We'd called ahead to reserve a table just to be safe, so that when we arrived we weren't having to wait for seating. We were immediately seated when we arrived. There's were so many different types of dishes that were paired with waffles, that I did look over the menu several times. But did finally decide to go with the "Babe" sandwich which is the the "Two Hands Required" section of the menu, and two hands are definitely needed. The Babe comes with grass fed natural beef patty, BBQ pulled pork, Cherrywood smoked bacon, white cheddar, onion rings, shaved jalapeños, arugula, chipotle aioli, and a lardon studded herb waffle. It tasted really good and and is filled with so many different flavors that work really well together. My girlfriend decided to go with the Eggcellent waffle sandwich. cherry wood smoked bacon, cage free egg, fontina, arugula, tomato, basil pesto, sun-dried tomato aioli, fennel herb waffle. This particular meal is a Two Hands Required meal as well, but it on the "Anytime of the Day" section, since it more of a breakfast style meal, but can be enjoyed anytime. read more
