After a long day exploring the beauty and wonder of Glacier National Park, what's better than a delicious meal before continuing the road trip? Hubby and I found a parking spot in the shade on the street around 7 pm and were greeted by a super friendly hostess who quickly sat us at the bar (currently no reservations or take-out, FYI). I ordered wine, and he decided to try the habanero cider, which definitely has a kick but is delicious. We were delighted to learn that the chef has prepared a Gluten-Free Menu, so we ordered a couple of yummy appetizers: Asian-style calamari (beautifully fried rings with a couple of tentacle pieces on a bed of lettuce) plus the lamb-"stuffed" peppers (tender lamb with feta and a green salsa atop fire-roasted Anaheim peppers). Both were amazing. For the mains, I was craving a bison burger and our bartender recommended fries on the side in lieu of slaw. Hubby got the Asian-style shrimp risotto, which I was excited to try because 1) I've never had risotto made with coconut cream, and 2) I LOVE the flavor and crunch of bok choy. My burger and fries were very tasty; the cheese-onion toppings are melted on the patty, so no fillings are falling out of the burger making a mess, thankfully. If I had it to do again, I'd probably spring for the slaw plus fries. Hubby enjoyed his risotto but we couldn't seem to find any bok choy. The few greens we saw looked and tasted more like wilted spinach. That was a bummer for me, but he didn't seem to mind. For dessert (breakfast the next day), I ordered the lemon-olive-oil pound cake with berry topping. Top-notch service and fair prices all around. Definitely recommend! read more

We went here based on reviews. We are not locals. This was a mistake as this was one of the most disappointing meals of all time. They care more about keeping your glasses full than the rest of the meal. It was actually mind blowing how poor the food was. Think bar food with a dash of microwave. So very sad! read more

We tried to order meals to go tonight, they never picked up the phone, went straight to vm from 5pm to 5:300pm so my husbaand drove over to place a take out order and was advised it would mess up the kitchen. All they had to do is put the order in togo containers which we know they have because we have taken our leftovers before. This meal was frustrating to me because I wanted to like it. Our server was very nice and did her job well. I wasn't going to leave a review because, well, I just didn't want to seem like I'm "one of those people nit-picking" and you can tell they're trying here. But my wife ultimately persuaded me to just leave one. We came here for dinner after visiting Glacier NP. I'll get to the point- I ordered lamb, she ordered the bison burger. My lamb was cooked exactly right. Wonderful medium rare. But that's kind of it. Meaning in a season with huckleberries and cherries being abundant, there was no sauce, no seasoning. Just a minimal amount of salt and pepper. Sure, I can see that being someone's thing but it would be fun to see some creativity. Also to serve that on a -heap- of lentils that really, really needed seasoning was a let down. Her burger was just okay, but the fries were pretty rough. French fry standards are real these days! We all have so many options, so it's tough to justify the large, oily wedges that were brought out. Again, maybe some people like those, but why not just go a better direction? Not a huge menu, but everything is done well. We had to wait 30 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the dishes were executed almost perfectly. My only quibble is the sun-dried tomato AND chorizo AND chermoula on top of what was otherwise a very delicious ribeye steak - all the toppings were tasty and attractive, but the steak sort of disappeared under them. We came here for brunch, on a whim, for our last meal in Montana as we were on our way to the airport. What an amazing surprise, to find such a high quality dining experience in a small town such as Columbia Falls, which rivals all of the establishments I have eaten at in Chicago. I ordered the 6 oz bison patty with a fried egg on top, and I was very happy with my dish. BUT, my friend ordered the breakfast risotto, which had mushrooms and a poached egg on top, and my oh my that dish was delicious and ended up being my favorite at the table! Definitely try out the breakfast risotto! 10/10. The avocado toast was also good, but was on the smaller side with only 3 small pieces, so probably better as an appetizer than as a main course. read more

So glad we made it to Three Forks Grille during our recent, brief visit to West Glacier/Hungry Horse. To be honest, I was a little concerned about them not taking reservations because of the drive involved from our cabin and, well, I'm just a planner and don't love surprises! With all of the great reviews for this place, I was afraid we'd arrive and be told there was an hour+ wait, but not the case at all. We arrived around 6:30 on a Wednesday and had a super reasonable wait of around 10 minutes. They have two picnic tables with umbrellas out front, making for a comfortable wait. I was very pleased to be escorted to a quiet corner table for two upstairs. Aaron provided prompt, friendly and well-informed service throughout our dinner. We opted to share two starters: the housemade potato gnocchi and eponymous Caesar with house smoked trout. Both were quite fabulous. Solid start! For our entrees, he went for the bison ribeye. I chose the grilled pork chop, mostly because of the accoutrements (bacon jam? huckleberry BBQ sauce? yam au gratin? where do I sign?!). We're also big beet fans, so the husband asked for a side of the special beets featured in a different dish and our server and the kitchen didn't bat an eye. I liked that. After apps and entrees, we were bordering on too full for dessert, but never hurts to look at the menu, right? We were really pleased with our choice of the light, refreshing cherry and lime sorbet. A very nice way to end our very nice dinner. We agreed to ding a star because the vegetables (kale for him, broccoli for me plus the bonus beets) seemed like utter afterthoughts. The options were nice and could have been great, but the treatment of these veggies was almost nonexistent. They were almost if not completely raw, cold and completely devoid of any seasoning at all. No salt. No pepper. No fat. No acid. No flavor. We know well and appreciate veggies al dente. These were not that. This was really the only disappointment in an otherwise stellar dining experience. Enjoyed our visit to the Three Forks Grille. The food was very good and based on that I would highly recommend a visit. The service was a mix. We arrived about a quarter to 7pm and told it would be about a 10-15 minute wait. We waited outside and we're seated within that timeframe. We were seated upstairs where there were about 4 other tables seated besides us. We were seated by the host Aidan who was easily the star of the show when it came to the evening's service. He asked where we were from, gave us suggestions on dishes he enjoyed, and throughout the dining experience was there to get us more water, to go boxes and pretty much everything we needed. To clarify, Aidan was not our server. Our server was Dave who it seemed might have been the only server in the restaurant. He was constantly in a rush and obviously overwhelmed. He asked if we were ready and when one of us hesitated he made a comment about being back in a few minutes because he had a lot of tables. He wasn't necessarily rude, but he was very short and distracted in his responses. We had to ask him a few times through out the meal for things we had already told him or asked him for. Service was a miss in terms of Dave and the only reason this review isn't five stars. The gnocchi appetizer was very good. The sirloin was tasty and one of the best cuts I've had in a while. The hazelnut torte was excellent! The dessert cannoli was good, the mascarpone filling was so rich that it was slightly overpowering, maybe missing a little acid to balance it out. We visited briefly with Tim, the owner, as we left and made sure to let him know that we really enjoyed our service from Aidan and that he was lucky to have him on staff. Overall a very good experience and one I would come back to. It's frustrating that one part of the service detracted slightly from the overall experience but still a definite win in my book. read more

The restaurant is located in the Downtown area. They are located in the beginning of the downtown area and located in what looks like a business office area. The food was good, but our server kind of forgot about us towards the end when we wanted our check so we can leave. We ended up asking another server to get our check. We stayed nearby and walked to this location after it opened up in the afternoon. The business was popular and there were parties waiting after a short while. We got the best seat in the house overlooking the first floor. We had a gnocchi app and salad to start. The wife had the local trout and I did the ribeye and shrimp. All the food was amazing and cooked to perfection. Our compliments to the chef! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Our waitress was very resourceful on activities and information in the area. We were so impressed we decided to go back a few days later. Which can be a let down as some spots struggle with consistency. Not this spot, it was just as good or better the second time. The wife got the sweet potato raviolis and I got the veggie stack. I'm not a 5 star giver without absolutely great food, service and ambiance. You mess with one of those and your range bound. Three Forks Grille easily qualifies as my "next best meal" in Columbia Falls and for that matter Glacier National Park area in general. The ambiance is welcoming and has that local earthy MT feel. Our seating was quick, our server very informative and attentive. The menu is compact but covers the palate well. I picked the 11 oz ribeye and my wife had the pork chop. Both were beyond tasty! Specific to my taste buds. The steak was cooked to my medium spec and the Parmesan Crust along with a little Olive & Roast Pepper Tapenade made for a bite for bite explosion of tastes! We came on a Saturday night and after a short wait we were seated upstairs. The compound butter with sourdough was delicious and the flavors of the zucchini cakes were on point. A couple of salads were really nice as well, as were my hamburger and a friend's pork chop. However, my husband's sweet potato "ravioli" were candid-camera bad. It didn't say the dish was vegan or gluten free but it clearly was--two thin slices of sweet potato made up each ravioli that was filled with a tiny amount of something puréed. If he'd known he wasn't getting pasta he would've ordered something else and that was the only real clunker dish in an otherwise nice meal. We didn't get bread service (didn't know they actually had bread service until we saw all tables around us receiving baskets) until we asked twice and then it came 5 minutes before our entree and quite some time after our salads. For our main course, we had the whitefish. If I turned off all my senses except taste, I'd swear I was eating the catfish dinner at Cracker Barrel. For dessert, I ordered the white chocolate coconut gelato. Instead I got dark chocolate sorbet. ????????? Visiting in the area and Three Forks came highly recommended. Wasn't sure, but the menu looked so interesting! It's a busy day, so we say at the bar and were served by Sky. So charming and attentive! She was great at explaining the specials, as well as the menu. She took great care of us! Started with the pork belly appetizer. I dragged that unctuous pork belly through the fabulous cherry reduction and wanted to lick the plate! I ordered the NY strip with a Jalapeño butter, and my two friends both ordered the rib eye special with a morel mushroom sauce. One of their cooks actually foraged the mushrooms! My NY was great, but the rib eye with those morels was next level! We shared desserts, the chocolate hazelnut torte and the apple/blueberry pie, and both were delicious!
