This is my first ever Yelp review since having my account for years, which is when you know a place must have terrible food. I honestly never knew that you can mess up Italian, but this place somehow managed to. I initially went because I passed by and the food smelled so good, but I ordered the spicy rigatoni and it was the worst pasta I've ever had. Service was also very bad. My friends & I grabbed sandwiches for a picnic at Central Park! Not only does this restaurant serve great panini (wrapped in aluminum foil so they stayed warm on the walk), it's on Madison Ave so it's really close to the park. They had seating available but also had a takeout-style counter inside. The sandwiches were ~$13 each so considering how small they were, It's not a great bang for your buck. I was honestly surprised at the size! Nonetheless, the sandwiches were tasty! My friend also had a raspberry & pear tart and he said it was delightful! I don't know why anyone would want to line up to go to this place. They said their tiramisu was their most popular item and all I could taste was cream. There was no coffee flavor or texture. It was extremely dirty, and the staff was clearly overwhelmed by the crowds so they were not friendly. In short: don't come here on a weekend, it is dirty, chaotic, noisy, and simply not good. read more

I got some raw filet mignon with whole lemon sandwich which was mostly all bread and only tasted like lemon.

They have a couple locations but we came to the one on the upper east side. It is a small place with some tables up front and some downstairs. These are small tables and you are sitting very close to other people. I know that is typical for new york but this was abnormally close. For lunch we had the caprese panini and some other panini with proscuitto on it. They come out fast and it was pretty solid. It looks like it could be too much bread but the sandwich was good. It doesn't fall apart either. The negatives is the sandwiches are small and the prices are high. $13 for a small sandwich that barely filled me up. Not into that. Not sure if I would come back but this would be 3.5 stars if I could give half. read more

Extremely popular place but only due to the location (near the Met) and the cozy vibe. They charge 30+ for very basic pasta dishes and hygiene is questionable, portions are small. I get there has been inflation but I guess only go there if you enjoy being ripped off or have cash to burn, or are on a diet. Service is pleasant but that's the only bonus. My mom and I stopped here for lunch after a doctor's appointment since they had heated outdoor dining. The heat lamps provided enough heat for us to be comfortable. We ordered a caprese panino ($13), a lentil soup ($13), and a cappuccino ($6). The panino was good, although the portion was on the smaller side and I wasn't completely satisfied. My mom really enjoyed her cappuccino (she said it was nice and creamy), but her soup was lukewarm. Overall, it was a nice place for lunch but I don't know if I'll be back. read more

Wonderful outdoor dining near the metropolitan museum of art. Enjoyed mozzarella and tomato appetizer followed by spaghetti with spicy peppers and chicken. Not as good as it used to be. Stopped by for a coffee and was disappointed to be served an Americano that looked very and tasted like percolator coffee that had been warmed up. super cute outdoor dining. we came by around 3 in the afternoon and the space was at about 70% capacity outside. Ordered online for pick up and got the TENTAZIONE panini (prosciutto, smoked mozzarella, rucola, shrimp & pink sauce) for $13.50. Love the combination but the bread was a bit hard. I ask the cashier for Sopressata Veneta (finest imported Italian salami spread w/ butter) and Bresola sandwich (cured filet mignon from Valtellina w/ olive oil). Paid $22+ and left on my way excited to eat the sandwiches. Get to the park and open it and was extremely disappointed... in the size (small) and quality. A cozy cafe for either a quick or leisurely lunch on the upper east side, in between museum-ing or shopping along Madison Ave. I have been coming to Via Quadronno since high school and it continues to dish out tasty paninis (~$13). I have been here twice now with a group of friends. I think it's a very welcoming place and the front set up is intriguing and makes you want to go in. It has a very cultured feel where you just want to look around see all of the detail hey put into the atmosphere. You have to get the paninis here. That's their best food. You won't leave here stuffed as the panini is more about the taste, texture, and presentation rather than tons of food. They have great expressos as well The Gelatos and cookies are pretty good here too! I judge restaurants a lot by their bathrooms and this one is probably one of the cleanest and homey! read more

Tentazione has everything I love: prosciutto, arugula and shrimp. It's in a warm Italian bread with the right thickness and crunch. Normally, I would order an espresso with this, but my stomach was unstable and needed a pot of tea instead. Barbagia was good, too, but Porchetta was better. My favorite spot for a cappuccino and Italian sandwich in NYC! The spot is tiny and absolutely adorable. I've been coming here for 15 years. Week after week, we cannot wait to come back! The La Madunina sandwich, in particular, is just spectacular! Prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and olive paste makes for heaven on the palette.
