I instantly wanted more with the first bite that I scooped of my korean fried rice plate that I ordered on my first time here. One of if not the best that I have ever tasted. I'm pretty disappointed with my bibimbap. Not you're traditional plate but just bunch of lettuce salad and rice on the bottom. It's different but not what I expect. Man this is a little tough. I was craving a carne asada burrito but when I saw this yellow truck, I had to visit. Talk about a total 180 from Mexican to Korean in less then 30 seconds or in this case the trucks being 30 feet apart. After pacing back and forth between the two menu signs, I decided to get Cupbop's most popular dish. It happen to be the Korean combo of surf and turf or to non locals Garlic Shrimp and Kalbi. Yea they had me at garlic. The whole time I was there, the two ladies working there were smiling. They really enjoyed their work and made small talk with everyone. It was pretty entertaining watching the lady use the small grill to cook the kalbi. The hot plate looks like a little Gorge Foreman grill. But you can tell the two ladies there were happy to be working. After about 5 mins my plate was ready and I started to head home. While I was driving home, the aroma from the food was driving me crazy. Open the plate and visually it looked delicious. 6 pieces of shrimp and one strip of kalbi cut into four parts. First my comment on the sides of kimchi, mac, and toss salad. Not bad, all three were average taste. Jasmin rice was cooked just right fragrant and not mushy. Garlic shrimp was fantastic. Not too buttery, where you feel your heart screaming no more but the stomach saying "feed me". It was just the right amount. Now the kalbi was delicious but tough. Tough like in, which will separate first: the meat from the bone or my teeth from my skull? Now it was flavorful but really chewy. I don't think I'll be getting the kalbi again from here. Overall three stars. The service and shrimp are worth coming here to pick up a plate. The kalbi needs to marinate more in my opinion. I'm always down for Korean food and supporting a small business. This food truck was being run by 2 cute little Korean ladies. I'm not one for frequenting food trucks, but we were all hungry and thirsty, so we decided to give Chef's Cup Bop a try. We ordered a Kalbi and Garlic Shrimp plate to share amongst myself and 2 little ones. It wasn't enough food, so we ordered a plate of just Garlic Shrimp. Kalbi was a teeny tiny portion, mostly fat. Shrimp was delicious. Nice, hot and buttery with a nice amount of garlic. Plates were served with a small side of kimchee, piece of sliced fresh pineapple and cabbage salad with French dressing. I tried subbing the rice on our plates to Kimchee fried rice. The woman said it would be an up charge of $7.00. Mmm.. No thanks. We stuck with the regular white rice. Next time we'll try their Kimchee fried rice plate that looked really good. read more

Cupbop is a Korean food truck located in the parking lot behind Coach store area. It's next to Whip truck. Cup means cup and bop means rice in Korean. The two Korean ladies were nice and friendly. They let us know their chicken katsu is their popular item. But we ordered Teri chicken and Bulgogi (beef) bowl. One order can easily feed two people. The portion is pretty big with lots of rice, cabbage, bean sprouts, kimchee and tobiko(fish eggs). Teri chicken was a standard Teri chicken taste. Bulgogi was nicely marinated and soft. Was told they do not accept the Yelp check in 10% discount. We came here because I saw the Kalbi & Garlic Shrimp combo plate on their Yelp pictures but apparently this is no longer on their menu. They said they could "make this anyways" since they sell separate kalbi and garlic shrimp plates, but ended up charging $17 for my "custom meal" instead of the $14 they were charging just a few months ago. If I knew this all beforehand I would'nt have made the drive over. Really disappointing. read more

This food truck was just OK. Nothing special with the spicy pork and kalbi. My biggest disappointment was the absence of banchan (small side dishes typically served with Korean food). Sure, they had the ubiquitous won bok kimchee, but mac salad & fresh shredded cabbage slaw? Plus the amount of rice was, in my opinion, less than what's expected for local plate lunches. Maybe being located at the Waikele Premium Outlets they have geared their plates for the tourist palate, but for the same price I'd rather go to Song's Korean BBQ down the street in Waipahu or Yummy Korean BBQ. read more

I gave this restaurant two tries and both time the food was mediocre. Although the food is just okay and something that I would never crave or go back for, the sides are the most disappointing. Cabbage with 10 pieces of corn and about a tablespoon of macaroni salad. Will likely not return with better food next to it. Their menu features a bunch of plate lunches that are Hawai'i favorites but majority of their menu is Korean items. I was craving shrimp and opted for the garlic shrimp plate. The typical moody Korean lady that runs this place took my order, and without word - no 'thank you', no 'just one moment' - proceeded to make my order. Of course I knew this plate would not live up to those north shore shrimp plates and yup I was right. Note to tourists reading: don't settle for this shrimp! I recently was out trying to look for a local business to support during these times. I came across this food truck located in Waikele outlet and wanted to try it out. At first, I thought they were closed due to the mall being empty but they were open. These two cute Korean ladies were working and they were incredibly very nice. The wait was around 10-15 minutes and wasn't to bad. I ordered Black bean noodles and it was delicious, It was better than the ones I make prepackaged from the grocery store. The price for the meal was good for the portion you get. Overall, I really find this business to have very good customer service and petty delicious food. This food truck is parked right next to another Korean food truck but I think they have their menus in compliment to each other. The Waikele establishment seems to have arranged a nice little spot for this handful of trucks to permanently reside. Complete with some covered tables and trash receptacles the venue gets considerable traffic. Both tourists and locals seem to hit this spot up for grinds. So basically I come here for the dokbokki (varied spelling) and they offer it in a nice size takeout bowl (like an Acai bowl) with the option of cheese! I know this place gets pretty busy for lunch as they were out of my favorite dish last time. The nice lady who owns/operates the truck let me get a mandoo and fried rice mix bowl at a discount instead. The time before that I tried the garlic shrimp and she gave out a free soda since she gave the customer after me their order before me (it was a difference of two minutes honestly) being in the food industry I appreciate the responsibility of "making things right." read more

Can't say either knocked our socks off. Kalua pig was a little too salty and skimpy. Spicy pork is just better at other Korean places. Walking back to my car, I noticed they added some food trucks in the back parking lots, both on the left and right side. Decided to venture to the left side, where there were two trucks: Tropical Whip and Youngs Cupbop. This isn't a fancy, decked-out, hipster food truck you'd see at eat the street, just a simple yellow food truck run by two sweet Korean ladies. Cupbop? What the heck is a cupbop? I still don't even know exactly, but what I can tell you is that it's delicious! It's like Korean BBQ plate lunch meets sushi donburi... well, kinda. The cupbop is basically a bowl that comes with rice, kimchee, bean sprouts, cabbage, furikake, and.... masago?! Idk if it's just me, but I've only eaten masago with seafood. Typically mixed with poke or on the side in a chirashi bowl or something. But with Korean BBQ meat? Never would have thought. I ordered the teri pork (although I feel like it's kind of more like spicy pork? with a hint of teri) cupbop and WOOW, it was good! I was pleasantly surprised how well it went together. First of all I am Korean ... so I'm going to be more critical than usual. Customer Service: The lady was ok, not great and not terrible with customer service. But she's a Korean what do you expect lol. Spicy Pork Plate: The rice for spicy pork lunch plate was over cooked and almost mushy. The pork however, was delicious! It was nice and tender with just the right amount of Korean spicy heat. The kim chee felt like store bought and not homemade, but it still did the trick. On a positive note, I enjoyed the salad dressing for the sliced cabbage side dish. Mandooo plate: Never again will I ever pay $9.50 for mandoo. This bugga was frozen kine mandoo. I make homemade mandoo, ate my auntie's fat mandoos in Seoul, and I occassionally buy frozen for home use. I am confident about what is good and bad mandoo tastes like and this mandoo was pitiful. I was not very happy when I opened my to-go container. The texture was god-awful, plus it tasted like cardboard and the freezer taste (like old ice). DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS! Ok, I got the bad stuff out of the way! I enjoyed the cucumber/cabbage salad with their spicy salad sauce. I would have paid money for a heep of the salad instead of the mandoo. The sauce was sweet, spicy and a tad creamy. Final thoughts: If you want to eat some average/mediocre Korean food in Waikele this is your spot. The whole experience was just ok. Aug 2021- The workers don't wear masks. I understand it's hot in the food truck but at the very least, masks should be worn when speaking with customers and when handling and packing their food. One lady had her mask on while speaking to my husband but it became a chin diaper when she started helping another lady (no mask at all) prepare the food. I was ready to give them a 1-star review when I got home, but I have to admit that my food was DELICIOUS. Maybe it was the Covid sprinkled on top (just kidding....I have no proof of this) but my kalbi-shrimp plate was so good, even my picky eater toddler stole 2 of my shrimps! Since Covid started, if I see restaurant workers not masking, I don't go back because I'd rather support businesses that are following the rules...but this one might actually be worth the risk.
