    Purple rice roll fantuan
    Yumi L.

I had fond memories of having taiwanese breakfast in Taiwan so I was excited to have it again at Yi Mei! Came during lunchtime on a Sunday and waited only 10 minutes for a table. The ordering process was very simple, just scan the QR code at your table and pay through it too. Was mostly excited for the purple rice fantuan but was kinda let down. The overall flavor was bland, but the portion was huge. Also ordered a beef noodle soup but there was a lack of beef in the dish. The main stars of the meal was the chinese donut and pork xiao long baos. Youtiao and soy milk is one of the world's best food combos ever. The pork dumplings were delicious and can make anyone full.

This place is so good. Its my first time having a rice roll and it was burst with flavors. Rice roll 9/10 I got it with (Extra crispy Chinese donuts, eggs, pork floss, sour pickles, pickled daikon, korean sausage) I also got beef rice roll - 8/10 and daikon cake with fried eggs -The best daikon cake I've had! Solid 10/10. They even have daikon cake in the fridge for you to take home. Since I live almost 2 hours away, I had to buy 2 to take home. Can't wait to go back!

With the fan tuan going viral, I did decided to stop by to give it a try as well (not pictured), as well as ordering a pork chop rice. It's interesting how it's going viral, but I'm glad that it is. Fan tuan has spent one of my all-time favourite foods growing up, mostly because it is very carby, but also the Chinese donut and pork floss. It is a heavy item but definitely worth a try if you're hungry. The Chinese donut in the middle is crunchy and these pork floss gives it a perfect salty and savory combination. The pork chop rice is standard, but but that's a good thing. Crispy pork chop, marinated egg, vegetables on a bit of rice. What more could you ask for. If you're looking for a relatively quick meal, and has a hankering for Taiwanese food, you found a place. Make sure to order a soy milk to wash it all down. Interior is clean and services fast and friendly. Surface level parking is a bit limited, but they have underground parking shared with other stores nearby.

Great service, a kid-friendly atmosphere, and delicious food! I will definitely be coming back. We tried the soybean drink, which was very fresh, along with the sticky rice with fried dough and popcorn chicken. Everything was enjoyable, and it's a great spot for families. I look forward to returning to try more dishes.

Was craving Taiwanese food and found this place for a quick breakfast. Ordering food is a different process compared to other places. You find a seat/ table and you scan the menu and order from there and pay on the app. It's pretty much self service which is a good thing. Along with getting the condiments and water which are posted at the center service station with all the sauces. Ordered the chicken bowl and added sausage 4/5, get this is you're hungry. Popcorn chicken 4/5, good spice and kick to it. Sticky rice roll with Chinese donut 4/5, gonna have to try the black rice version next time. Sitting at some tables can be communal as you're sitting next to someone else.

It was our first time at this location and we really liked it! It's spacious, clean, bright, convenient self ordering by scanning a QR code at the table, quick service, and yummy food! The daikon cake was fried so perfectly! Highly recommend! We dined in on a Wednesday and it happened to be Daikon Special day of $3.75. Woohoo!

Food was good. Soy was not extra ordinary but clean and tastes like soy. Beef soup was not comparable to Lao Xi or Din Tai. Portion was good. Price point was moderately ok. Taste was really good for those rice rolls. Staff taking order were nice but they are pretty staffed so I don't understand the lag. Person who delivered our food was sweet but she couldn't answer questions.

i'm happy taiwanese fan tuan is blowing up lol. i actually had never tried their fan tuan before bc every time I came here I was here for the juicy dumplings. The one that is steamed but also pan fried if you haven't tried it you must it's so good!! their fan tuan is very flavorful and not filed with jus rice! i added pickled mustard (must have), egg, and marinated pork as extra.def will return but will try the white rice one and see which one i like better as i usually do like the white rice ones more.

Parking lot structure available Came on a Sunday for lunch and had to wait about 30 mins for a table. It's pretty much self service. You scan the QR code to order your food from the menu. There's a counter for self serve water and sauces, utensils etc. We tried a few different things on the menu but I think their best item is just the popular fan tuan! I love how crispy the donut is and you can add extra toppings like with an egg, sausage etc.

One of our favorite places for Taiwanese breakfast, Yi Mei should be on people's must try list. I love coming here for their fantuan which are reasonably priced and so hearty! When you head to the location you may see a long line. Don't be deterred! A majority of the patrons are there for take out. For sit down, you will order and pay first and seat yourself. Everything is priced reasonably and large portions that you'd definitely get your bang for your buck. For this visit we ordered (of course) the salty fantuan which includes egg, pork floss, Chinese donut and we added in a Chinese sausage which is more on the salty side than sweet. We also got a sausage and meat plate, an egg pancake and of course their savory soy bean milk. Everything came out quickly and tasted amazing. Definitely try out this location if you're looking for delicious food and at a great price!

Quaint Taiwanese breakfast spot located in the heart of SGV. I did find this spot through social media because of the viral salty rice roll (fan tuan), but they have a variety of other breakfast options offered ad well. I tried the fan tuan with a chinese donut and fried egg added as extra (already comes with sausage and pork floss), plus a bowl of hot soy milk - unsweetened and a chinese donut to pair with. I personally would give the food a 3.7/5, as the fan tuan is good but there is a bit of flavor lacking. However, if you add either the garlic sauce or chili oil that is offered at the self serve station, it would kick up the rating to 4.2/5. The service is quick and the staff are constantly on the go, but are quick to come to your service at a moment's call.

The extra crispy youtiao makes it special. Don't forget to ask for sauce. Variety of Taiwanese breakfast looks good. Came by on a weekend afternoon and there was a lot of people waiting. The signs said that ordering online might be faster, but afterward we felt like dining in would be ok. We ordered pickup through the QR code at the restaurant and were given a 20 minute wait time without about 6 parties hanging out outside. We walked a few blocks away and saw one of our favorite fantuan places with no wait nearby! We ordered a savory purple rice fantuan with extra crispy donut and an added egg. The extra crispy was something--my partner liked it and I could have done with a regular youtiao. The flavor of the whole thing was good but nothing amazing and balance of ingredients was a bit off. The purple rice fell apart easily. We got an egg omelette which my partner really liked, and a cold soymilk which was slightly sweet and refreshing. We regret forgetting the sauce. Our friends hyped it up to us after. There's an extensive menu beyond fantuan, which includes porridge, rice plates, and soups. Seems like a good place to come to for comfort food.

The ube French toast was topped with some blueberries, had a crispity crunchity exterior with a fluffy soft custardy interior and ube filling. Didn't taste much like ube but was still very yummy. The bacon jam burger had a soft pillowy buttered bun, sweet Caramelized bacon jam, a sunny side up egg, gooey cheese, meaty juicy patty that did need some seasoning not gonna lie, and bitter arugula. I also got it with a side of their yummy sweet potato fries. The kimchi butter fried chicken eggs benny came with a side of a fresh leafy vinaigrette dressed salad and some not bad country potatoes. The benny itself had a super soft fluffy English muffin that soaked up that rich kimchi butter, crunchy fermented kimchi, tender crisp fried chicken cutlet and perfectly poached egg. Knowing what I know now as I write this review, we would return & bring friends here. It's about 78 to 80°F on a Friday a few minutes before 1 pm, surprisingly, it was low key--only a couple tables taken indoors by patrons and a set of guys on the patio. At the door, it said to seat ourselves & I immediately shot to the patio. The set up: once seated, the server comes with menus, you order & it's a sit down meal. Giselle was our friendly & attentive server, young & attentive. Hubby ordered the breakfast burrito ($11.50) & I opted for build your own omelette $11.50 for a 3 egg omelette & choice of two items- mushroom and bell peppers accompanied with breakfast potatoes, and chilaquiles ($13.99) to share. The patio seating is fresh, airy, there are tables, outdoor furnitures (sofas) and bright orange umbrellas for shade. My photos captured these elements. The food arrived shortly, although not all at once. I didn't mind it all because the ambiance was so soothing with the sound of birds chirping away and the background of other patrons talking. The only complaint from Hubby was too many pototo chunks in his burrito. My omelette was hot, fresh ingredients, delectable & the potatoes were mixed with 3 colors of bellpeppers. Oh and the chilaquiles? Pretty darn good! The tortilla chips were crispy, perfect amount of green salsa, freshly diced onions & a sprinkling of cotija cheese. Was I famished or was it that good that I devoured everything? What's left was Hubby's potato chunk discards. Giselle returned a few times to ensure our experience is to our satisfaction & another staff also stopped by to check on us. Such a perfect meal & day-- I'm so happy with this visit.
