Where to begin? We walked to 13 Coins before the ball game. It was not crowded. The waitress took our drink order then took a long time bringing them. Our beers were not filled to where the should have been. We asked if they were short staffed and she answered that they were not. We ordered an artichoke dip for an appetizer, which was quite good. I ordered veal marsala, and my wife a steak salad. These took a long time arriving, and when they did, we had barely begun the appetizer. They were both cold and the veal was tough. Cutting it, I had to be especially careful as the tabletop was metal and slippery and there were no place mats to prevent sliding. The marsala came with a few vegetables and spaghetti (both cold). I spooned the leftover artichoke dip over the spaghetti and it was the high point of the meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and our waitress offered to reheat our plates. However, we were already half way through them. I noticed on the bill that there was a 4% charge added, not for the staff but to be retained by 13 Coins. As we walked to the game, there were long lines queued up behind hot dog vendors before the stadium. They made a choice I wish I had. read more

Decided for a safe bet, or what I thought was a safe play and visited the coins at opening. 7am. To sum it up, ordered coffee and a Denver omelette. We had the absolute pleasure of dining at 13 Coins (attached to Embassy Suites in Pioneer Square) two nights in a row--and it was incredible both times! From the moment we sat down at the open kitchen counter, we were blown away by the energy, the food, and the service. Joe, our server, was top-notch--funny, attentive, and full of great recommendations. He convinced me to try the linguine with clam sauce, and WOW--thank you, Joe! My husband ordered the salmon, which was cooked to perfection. Watching the chefs in action was such a cool experience. Carmine is an exceptional cook--we were in awe of every dish he sent out. The care and flair in each plate were a show of their own. Eddie also deserves a shoutout--his skills with the Parmesan cheese wings, calamari, and broccolini were amazing! My husband & I both chose this for our last date night. We used to go to the one on Born that' right next to the Seattle Times building when we first started dating 30 years ago. We both had the same sea to be nostalgic and head to the newer location if the Seattle 13 Coins on King & 2nd Ave. Same dark booths and high back swivel chairs along the counter seating. We sat in a cozy booth in the back of the restaurant, it felt nice $ private. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Our server brought the complimentary relish tray & some bread with butter. I had the Friday Special, Prime rib & my husband ordered chicken fried steak. The quality of both our dishes was exceptional. My Prime Rib was a perfect Medium Rare served with garlic mashed potatoes & grilled broccolini. My husband's chicken fried steak came on a bed of extra crispy hash browns that he specifically ordered...they were really good & not greasy at all. We shared a cookie skillet that is well worth the wait...a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream & your choice of nuts or not. I was pleasantly surprised by the customer service & quality of the food. I was pleasantly surprised that the food, customer service & quality of 13 Coins remains the same as when my husband & I started dating. I was given the bums rush at the pioneer square location.I walked in up to the hostess no smile or greating.. I observed maybe a dozen empty stools at the counter. So I asked if I could grab one. She informed me there was a 45 minute wait. A woman sitting at counter pointed out there was room at the bar referring to counter she was sitting at. wherel I asked to be seated. To which the hostess repeatedly rather sternly their is a 45 minute wait.I Observed no other customers waiting to be seated. I said okay is their restroom I could use.? She didn't want me to use the restroom. She replied to this question with did you come from the hotel? Implying. Are you a guest. None of her business.. I said I had just come from the hotel. She said they would have a restroom there. I'm thinking I know would have restroom there. I'm here. So I repeated my question. She reluctantly pointed to the stairs. Suffice to say, i've never felt so unwelcome.And rather insulted. I guess my appearance wasn't up to snuff. I was wearing sweatpants.. I'd been to the Seahawks team store to buy some jerseys. I can't give a review as they would not even seat me their business must awfully good. Ti turn away customers. Seams to me businesses in Seattle should cherish every customer that comes Downtown liook.around at empty store fronts 30 % office space vacancy. Perceived safety issues.. Well i really didn't want to express my opinion here but i emailed 13 coins and got no response. To begin with i traveled to seattle to celebrate thanksgiving with some family members and i order the thanksgiving dinner from 13 coins. Everything was going well, picked up dinner with no problems. Then we followed your reheating instructions and in fact gave the turkey 15 more minutes in the oven. When it was time for dinner and time to carve the turkey, guess what happened, the turkey was under cooked. I felt like i let the whole family down with a disappointing dinner. We reheated up the turkey again, but the damage was done. Dinner was delayed another 2 hours, and my pride was destroyed, i trusted 13 coins to deliver a great thanksgiving dinner but was so sad with dinner. read more

I'm usually a good sport when I eat out, but the French onion soup was absolutely the worst I've ever had; it was like a really over-salted bread stew with a few onions tossed in and thick breading mixed with some indiscernible cheese dumped on top. I couldn't eat more than 1/3 of the concoction. The spinach salad had so much dressing dumped onto it, it was beyond reasonable. I was left wishing I'd gone to Wendy's down the street. We had a great time at 13 Coins! Food was great, and our server, Joe, was fantastic. We came in after a Mariners game, so it was pretty busy; Joe was locked in serving tables of 7+ customers, but he always made time for us and he made sure we were enjoying ourselves. We sat at the bar and were able to watch the cooks chef up--which was very fun --and we even ordered more food because the dishes they were cooking looked so good. I have now eaten at 13 Coins twice during my travel to Seattle. The first time was in December 2022 and most recently was a couple days ago during a recent stay for business. The first time I sat at the counter and was able to watch an insanely well-oiled machine of cooks create every menu item in front of my eyes. It was a great show as I dined alone. I had the chicken and waffles back then. I remember it because they were the best I've had. The chicken perfectly breaded and fried, but not overly so and the waffle was perfect and fluffy with the right amount of crisp. The sweetness of their maple syrup offset the savory flavor of the chicken fry blend. This time I had their prime rib dip and fries. I sat at a table in the bar area. First, I must note that I hate sitting at high boy tables. However, they have foot bars on the tables and on the high bench seats to rest your feet so they don't dangle. They get a star just for that alone! So, back to the prime rib dip. I think between the time I ordered it to the time I received it, maybe 7 minutes passed. It was incredibly fast. And the food was piping hot. Crispy roll and juicy prime rib barely need the au jus, which was a savory addition to the already tasty sandwich. The fries were well done, but not too much (which is great as I prefer them not an oily tasting fried mess). The staff is incredibly friendly, outgoing, and is always there to replenish your drink, ask how everything is going, and to make sure you're well fed. Oh, and I recall from December 2022 that unruly fans (post Seahawks game) got into a fight and one of the female servers dragged the drunken fighters out of the restaurant and threw them in the street. Ordered carrot cake and this was smaller than I thought. $12 for this... probably won't order again. It was good, but it was not THAT good. Chocolate mousse.....!! Omg was hard as rock!!! I had to chip away the mousse and it was so dense. I honestly felt a bit nauseous eating this because I felt like I was eating hard cake frosting from 3 days ago. I would not order this again! Decaf coffee was ok. Not super hot or fresh but considering that this was couple hours before closing it I didn't mind too much. I love their interior design! Their bar chairs are super fun and you can sit like a king/queen. When we sat for a bit, it started to smell like something burned, so don't wear sweater if you go there because you will smell like burn food. There's only one server serving many tables, she was still able to check in with us and greet everyone. She is above and beyond. As for the food, they are pretty good. After traveling for 10 hours from Massachusetts, this was right next to our hotel, the Hilton Embassy Suites. We didn't realize that 13 Coins was an all-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner establishment. I'm a vegetarian, and there were plenty of choices... I ordered the cheeseburger made with an impossible patty. It was THE best I've ever had. It was basically two patties on an elongated bun with carmalized onions and cheese. It's just fantastic! We also ordered a Cesar salad and roasted artichoke hearts, which rounded out our meal nicely. The staff was very friendly and on the spot with service. We chose to sit at the bar, and we were glad we did. The hustle and bustle of everyone making and serving food was both interesting and entertaining, as was the banter between the staff. GO! We ordered takeout for breakfast. Had eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy. Food there is normally really good. This was the first time eating breakfast and it was just ok. The thing I had a major problem with was when we got back to the hotel room we were staying at, we went to eat and there was no silver ware!!! We went back to restaurant (it was in the lobby of our hotel) and they told us it would be $2 to get the plastic To go cutlery we needed!! Be Very Careful. I went with my friend who is celiac. (Extremely allergic to gluten.) * We were seated. She immediately told the waiter that she is celiac. He responded to say that he cannot guarantee that there is nothing in the kitchen that could cross contaminate her food. She said she understood. She ordered spaghetti w/ gluten free pasta. The spaghetti arrived with meatballs on it. If anyone has ever made a meatball, of course, you are going to add some kind of binder. Breadcrumbs, crumbed crackers, stale bread.. NOT gluten free. She very kindly ate as much as she could and left a large portion of it on her plate. When he came to take the plates from our table, she mentioned that in the future he should be careful to never serve this dish to someone who is gluten-free. He responded by saying, "do I need to order you an ambulance? Definitely did not seem concerned. We should've immediately requested to talk to the manager. After the fact, I very much regret not doing that. We were charged full price. We paid our bill and left. By the way, my friend got extremely sick that day and night. This is a tale of 2 visits. Came in on a Tuesday, arrived at 658 and the doors were locked. They are no longer 24 hrs, but 11-7. Promptly at 7 they opened the doors and we were given a booth. Marty came over with water and took our drink orders. OJ for the misses and coffee for me. Coffee was good and strong. Ordered eggs Florentine and the ham steak and eggs. Waiter came over and told us the hash browns take a little while to cook. Seems to me they should start them at 630 so they'd be ready for 7 but whatever. Got food about 735 and it was good. Paid quickly and off we went around 8 Decided to come back on Wednesday morning and was a totally different experience. Got there at 658 and they opened the doors around 703. We were seated and our waiter came over and asked what we wanted to drink. I asked for coffee with cream, wife just wanted water. When he brought the drinks the wife said can I please have a latte? He sighed and said Ok. Wow sorry to bother you. He left the coffee, no cream. When he returned with the latte I asked for cream and he was again annoyed with us. Food came out and was really good. Only thing saving this place is the food Have to ask for coffee refills. We actually came back on Thursday and got the same guy as Wednesday. Overall I think this is my fourth visit. All good experiences. Only once have I sat in a booth. The location near Lumen field is a little dark and staff have never won an award for being the most friendly but the food has been consistently good. Tonight I went with a buttermilk chicken salad and onion rings for an appetizer. I feel they tried to nickel and dime me for the chipotle ranch. Kris, my server, informed me as soon as I asked. Guess that is fine but I would like to see who could use that small serving and have it last the whole side. Eating an appetizer to myself left me less than hungry for my salad but taking nibbles here and there it is a really good salad. Again I asked for more dressing for the salad. Kris quickly told me that they will make him charge me for it. Bring it. The sliced avocado was perfect. Very creamy flavor. I refilled my Arnold Palmer at least 4 times. It was good too. This meal took a little longer as the Seahawks were playing the Eagles right down the street at Lumen field... We were staying in the hotel while visiting family and decided to order this place "to go" and bring it back to the room. I wish we went somewhere else. I did not get to see much of the inside of the place, but it looked like a fancier American restaurant normally does. They have outdoor seating as well. I wasn't in the mood for a large meal so I ordered a simple salad and garlic bread, or so I thought. After bringing the food back to the room I noticed that there wasn't any utensils. They knew full well that we were staying in the hotel and still decided to send us on our way without a way to eat our food. We eventually got them to reluctantly agree to give us real silverware. I also discovered after bringing the food up to our room that the garlic bread wasn't on the order at all. The employee even read the order back to my wife with the garlic bread on it and they still messed it up! The salad was fine, but I really wanted some garlic bread. We arrived on a Friday evening 7pm. They only had space at the counter or lounge, we chose the lounge. Kevin was our server. The lounge was quite busy. The bartender and all staff were busy. I ordered the prime rib dip, my husband ordered the Philly cheesesteak and the calamari. Everything was served promptly, hot and delicious! The prime rib dip had a 13 Coins made horseradish sauce. Very mild yet flavorful. Not too spicy. As we were completing the meal I noticed the staff was all very busy. If they weren't serving, they were cleaning, or folding napkins, it was just all a very well oiled machine.
