He arrived on time for the estimate and returned the proposal back to us lightening fast. You would think that hiring "professional movers" would be in your best interest as it would stream line your move and make things stress free. Well I can tell you, what a mistake hiring this company. Where to begin. They showed up at our apartment and started packing our things by wrapping everything, and I mean everything, in giant wads of paper. Things that should have been more carefully packaged were just stuffed together and thrown on top of each other without rhyme or reason. The job was done hastily and without care. Flash forward to us getting out to our new destination (Denver), and our stuff is completely delayed. It took them over a week to get our stuff from San Diego to Denver, a trip that should take 2-3 days max. This is where the fun begins. The day they come with our stuff, half of it is missing. So we have to take a second day off work in order to receive the second shipment of our stuff the next day (we had very few items coming from a 1 bedroom apartment, not sure how it wasn't all delivered in 1 load). Ok, so we have our stuff, time to unbox/unwrap everything. We began the process, and to our amazement, multiple items were broken. We had broken jars, vases, artwork, to name a few. Our shoes and hats were smashed like pancakes. My bike handlebar grips were ripped. Screws to bed frames were missing. But worst of all, they lost my girlfriend's bike! The bike was nowhere to be found. I called customer service and gave them the rundown. They said I needed to file claims for all broken/missing items which I promptly did. Customer service guy said they were very sorry, that they would follow up with me and try to find the bike. Well here we are 3 weeks later and I have not heard anything from anyone. Terrible customer service, terrible company. They made our move 1000x more stressful. I wish I had just gotten a UHaul and done this myself. My company hired ACE for our relocation purposes and that was the first mistake. My household goods were in a 10 x 10 unit. I have no large appliances besides 1 TV, Only mattresses for a king and queen size bed with no headboards, foot boards or dressers. I am still trying to figure out how they weighed my items at almost 5,000 lbs...then again, I know the 5th wheel trick to make thing weigh heavy or light so I guess I really do know. What I definetly know is, I am still waiting for my stuff to arrive (even though I was told it should be NLT the 27th). This is just one story however my boss can tell his and it will be in the same line of buffonery! Having moved multiple times while serving in the military I know the game and I know when someone is gauging a company. Horrible. I will agree with the reviewer who says that the estimator, Kevin Grant, is a paragon of professionalism. He did show up on time and gave us a thorough estimate. Based on his excellent presentation, we went with them. Then the problems started. If you hire them to pack for you, watch out. They charge by the box. As we unpacked, we were finding things like two books in a box with the rest of it stuffed with tissue paper. They greatly over-inflated the number of boxes. Of course, by doing this, they then filled the truck up and there we were, 8:00 at night, having to decide what we would leave behind and what we would take with us. It gets worse. They broke so many items that we can't begin to list them all. They damaged the flooring on the house we moved out of, and then their flunkie claimed that they would not cover it -- even though we pointed it out to them at the time of the damage. My wife saw the damage and pointed it out, so they made sure to shove the "no damage" papers under MY nose when my wife was out of the house. Very slick, and very dishonest. They heavily damaged my motorcycle, which they assured me was packed carefully. Bent the handlebars to the point that it can not be ridden. When their adjuster called me, they offered an insultingly low amount to resolve it. When I threatened to do a chargeback on my credit card, they threatened me that it would void all of my insurance coveratge. They finally (partially) came around when I did a chargeback on my credit card. In the end, they moved us here and did about $4,000 worth of damage. Luckily we bought the insurance, because we needed it. If I were you, I would use another company. There are lots of operations out there that might send a salesman who is a little less presentable, but the salesman isn't the guy who actually loads your stuff and takes care of your stuff. read more

this is long, but in summary, I had a great experience with this company. I had to help my elderly mom plan a move from San Diego to the bay area. Looking for movers was tough. A friend recommended ace relocation. I had an extremely helpful conversation with Will Fuller who visited my mom to do an estimate. Will went above and beyond to explain everything to me and make my mom comfortable. He gave me a very reasonable "not to exceed estimate". This was KEY for my peace of mind bc so many reviews for other companies complained about hidden charges and being surprised by the total. To give you a ballpark idea, the estimate for moving a large 4 bedroom house was around $5700 (this is with us packing most of the house ourselves but having them pack some more difficult items such as large artworks). I clearly told will ahead of time that on the day of the move, I needed everything to be done by 3, as I had a flight to catch. The moving team was led by a kind and professional driver named Francisco. They laid down protective material all around the house as soon as they got there and I was able to walk through with Francisco to point out items that needed extra care. The men were super quick but also very careful. They were there from 10 to 3 -- finishing by the deadline with no problem. Francisco delivered the load with a local crew in the bay area 5 days later. My sister and mom who were on the recieving end were super impressed by how clean and efficient they were with the delivery. Nothing was damaged or missing! My mom has a number of oriental cabinets and other antiques that we were very worried about. Throughout the whole process, I recieved ongoing calls and communication from Kelly at Ace about the status of the movers. I am so thankful for the great crew we got to work with and for icing on the cake, the final cost was about $1000 LESS than the estimate!!!! My overall advice is for moving is -- 1. Use Ace if you're going long distance and 2. pack your belongings yourself bc it will save you $ and worry. read more

While I appreciate the apology, it does nothing to replace the items that were destroyed by the packers that can't be replaced. I wonder how you would feel if someone were to take you children's awards and projects, was them up, and then shove them in a box. While I know that we will be reimbursed for the things that were broken, some things are far more valuable than their intrinsic value and this company destroyed a lot of my children's history that can't be replaced. read more

First time I used ACE in 2013 was great. Last time I used ACE 2017 not so much. Movers had great attitudes but left an entire bathroom including picture on the wall and a huge cupboard in kitchen full of stuff - had to come back the next day. They lost a large portion of my son's bed. I noticed as I filled out the claim for the bed and a few other items that on my paperwork, the ACE employee filled out the codes for scratched on top (SC 10) for every single piece of furniture that ACE packed for us. This is just completely not true. Shame on me for trusting ACE and not checking all the paperwork and looking at the codes to see what they meant. Perhaps he was instructed to put "scratched on top" for every piece of furniture to cover ACE? That may work for most homes but our furniture was all new within the past year to two years and there are not scratches on any of them still (except two items which ACE scratched and I am sending in a claim for) I tried to file a claim for the side table which had two large scratches from ACE on it and they said I couldn't since paperwork stated scratches on them - I had told them in a letter prior to filing that the employee lied on the paperwork but they ignored my letter... so now I'm going to write a yelp review and send info to better business bureau. Also - I sent a letter to the general manager of ACE Jeremy Day and his customer service rep. I had a laundry list of issues and the customer service rep was the one who emailed me back. She was great, however, my expectation is if someone is a GM of a company and a repeat customer has several issues, the GM should be the one to reply back. read more

After all the great reviews on here, plus them offering a discount for being a union member, I thought for sure these were reliable folks. Boy was I wrong. Will came to my house and gave me an estimate and was extremely professional, telling me all about the company and writing down all the details I would need for the move. So the day comes and I'm told the movers will arrive between 8-9 a.m. At 8:58 I had not heard from anyone so I call the rep who is my point of contact, Michelle, who doesn't answer her phone. I finally get ahold of someone and then the movers call and tell me they'll be 15-20 minutes late because they had to do "other things." Ummm, aren't those things moving me? Anyway, so they finally get here (about two hours after 8 a.m.) and start moving boxes and then inform me that they have no tools to disassemble my large pieces of furniture to get out the door and onto the truck. Again, this was supposed to be why Will came over for the estimate. Those things were supposed to be noted in the system. Instead, one of the movers literally had to run about a mile down the street to Target and buy a screwdriver and hammer. Needless to say, this caused more delays. The finally get everything on the truck and make it to my new place fairly quickly and unload stuff and reassemble things. All in all, it took nearly 7 hours. To move a 1-bedroom condo. Plus, they forgot to unload my water cooler from the truck. I honestly have no idea how you can screw up a local move so badly, but they did. I really feel like I'm owed some kind of refund. read more

I used Ace relocation from my move from Seattle, WA to Pittsburgh -- they were subcontracted via another company. Don't use them if you get the chance. Not only did they break more stuff of ours than when we moved from Seattle to Dublin, Ireland, but it took 5 days of hounding them to get a response for when they could come to pick up our boxes & paper from the move. by far, the best moving experience I have ever had! My experience with Atlas/Ace started with Kevin in San Diego. He was so professional and communicated so well that I canceled my appointments for estimates from other companies after meeting with him. I selected Atlas because they provided me with a "firm quote ". I have heard so many nightmare stories of people that wind up paying hundreds if not thousands of extra dollars because the delivery weight is different from the estimate. Kevin was very clear that the price that he gave us would be the price that we paid in the end. Next, Caesar and his crew came and packed the van in a remarkably fast amount of time. I still had several items not in boxes because I was not sure how to pack them and Caesar was very patient and assisted us in packing the final items (that arrived at our new home in perfect condition!!). Jeanette contacted me after they loaded the van so that I would have a contact person should any questions come up during the move process. Though I didn't have to use her services, I was relieved to know I have direct contact with someone who would be able to help me if I needed it. And then there was Mike,Donnie, and Scott, the delivery crew. They were fabulous! I was contacted with plenty of notice and the crew arrived exactly on time. They delivered my property in a record time and I thoroughly enjoyed their company as well! I'm a military brat that has moved many many times in my life. This is the first time I have made a transition in which nothing was broken, everything was on time, everyone I contacted was professional and seemed happy to do what they were doing. I can't imagine moving any other way ever again. When everything was said and done Donnie shook my hand and said "welcome home". That was the first time I really felt like I was home. We have used Ace Relocation Systems twice in the past 9 months. We moved from Northern California to San Diego and 9 months later moved from San Diego to Virginia. We had a wonderful experience for both moves. We have a large amount of furniture and absolutely nothing has been damaged in both moves. On the first move the weight came in under the estimate that we paid up front and they issued us a refund. That honesty plus the remarkable service made it easy to use them again for our second move. The team from San Diego to Virginia went above and beyond and were actually like friends when they knocked on our door in Virginia with all our goods. Bad experience with Ace Relocation during and post move. Here is our story. The packing and move out date went relatively smooth with the exception of a $200 ladder being left behind and ironing board. The iron board was not a big deal but the ladder was since I couldn't take it with me and I had to give it away. Additionally, the lead (aka driver) had me sign off on pages and pages of inventory. The handwriting was virtually impossible to understand and he was supposed to conduct a walk through with me and he didn't. The ladder and ironing board would have been caught if he had done his job. The issue came during and post delivery. Please keep in mind this was a move from Southern CA to Northern CA. We were downsizing to a smaller house so we had to move a good portion of our stuff into storage. The day of move in we were suppose to meet the truck at our storage at 9am to move what was marked for storage in. We arrived a little before 9am and the driver told us he would be in constant contact with us (this was BS). We waited for 30 minutes with no call or truck . We called the center and the driver eventually called and said he was stuck in traffic. He eventually showed up after 10am (irritating). We stayed to help the lead (aka driver) to make sure everything that was suppose to go into storage went into storage. After an hour I asked the lead if he was good and understood everything that needed to go into storage and he said he was good. I decided to head back home to meet the truck there since I was no longer adding value. The truck arrived at between 2pm - 3pm at our new home. During the move in there was confusion about our shipment being mixed with another shipment. The movers brought out a couple of items to have me verify if they belong to us and they didn't. The move in was completed between 9pm - 10pm (long day). Again, the lead (aka driver) had me sign off on pages and pages of inventory that I supposedly received and was able to verify with in 5 minutes. After the move we received a bill for another $100 for the extra service (delivering to storage). We did not pay the $100 since we noticed several items that were supposed to have gone to storage ended up at the house and we were missing several items (silverware, household items....etc) and damaged elliptical machine approx $800 - $1000 in value. I contacted Ace Relocation to file a claim and received a very unprofessional email from their Accounting department. Basically, not allow me to file a claim without paying my balance. I escalated the email to management and they eventually allowed me to file a claim without paying my balance. I ended up filing a claim and after a month or so, their claims department was only paying for the damage elliptical and missing AC adapter. They dismissed the silverware, ladder and the other household items as part of the claim. The reason for dismissal is because it was my responsibility to validate I received everything prior to signing the inventory list. I'm not sure how Ace Relocation can expect any human being after a long day of moving to be able to account for everything in 5 minutes or hold up the crew for another 3-4hrs while I validate. How is this possible? Since I didn't have any luck getting full reimbursement, I ended up placing a dispute with my credit card company and the dispute was turned down. I was asked to contact Ace for a resolution. I ended contacting Jeremy 858-410-2010 with no call back. To sum it up the movers were fantastic, they worked their butts off. The employees in the back office are disconnected from the real world and poor customer service. I WILL NEVER USE THEM OR RECOMMEND THEM. read more

When researching moving companies for a move from San Fran to San Diego I was overwhelmed with the range in bids from moving companies and the constant sales approach to get me to go with one moving company or another. ACE was by far the best decision I made. Not only did I have a great experience from my walk through to the final box being moved, but I felt like I was in good hands along the way. The GM- in San Jose was able to offer me fair and accurate weight and pricing for my move and I felt confident that I was not being ripped off. Stacey, my move coordinator was responsive in giving me information along the way from what time my movers would arrive to the day the items would be in San Diego and she followed up after the move to make sure everything went well. My move team in San Francisco and San Diego were top notch guys taking apart furniture and putting it back together. Everything was professionally wrapped and handled and not a single piece arrived dinged or dented. Everything was in the same condition and not a single item was missing. Absolutely best Service ! It was really easy to send an e-mail using their website to have someone contact me via e-mail or phone call. My rep was able to meet me out at my storage unit to assess all the items I had and gave me a great rate. The movers were early by 10mins, loaded everything in the truck and ready to roll in 45mins. They beat me to my new location and were ready to unload. I felt very comfortable with them handling all my items. They were talkative, friendly, quick, and reliable. I already wrote one review but I forgot to mention some things. They moved me from Phoenix AZ to Bismarck ND. One of the main selling points was free full coverage insurance. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is!! When I made the claim they refused to cover anything. They lost several of my items, did a horrible job packing my things ie; put candles in with electronics . They damaged several items which I sent pictures of and they refused to cover anything.They claimed they wouldn't cover damaged items because I moved again however my items were damaged BEFORE I moved again. They also stated I took too long to send in a claim however there is a window of time you are given and I WAS within the window. The lady I spoke to on the phone told me I should have unpacked all of my boxes while the movers were still there. WHO DOES THAT?? She said a lot of people do that. The movers were in a hurry to leave . I doubt they would have sat there and waited while I unpacked every box. I would NOT recommend them! read more

My husband and I used Ace Relocation Systems 10 days ago for our short move from San Diego to Arizona. We spoke with all the big moving companies but really like the family-owned, personal touch of Ace. Kevin, the Sales Manager was professional and courteous and helped us from the first day we met him up until the move day. Patty was great, getting our move coordinated and the movers in San Diego and Arizona were professional and took great care of our personal items. The worst moving experience of my life - and I've moved over 15 times throughout the US. The salesman/estimator was a fine guy. But the minute the packers/movers showed up in this small truck, it went down hill. I have always required a full big van for my moves, and they bring this truck about 1/3 size. It took them 3 trips (~100 miles each way) to get it all up, and I would have to tell them they left everything from outside there - and there is still stuff there! The driver was nasty - calling me a bitch, etc. After I pointed out damage, they tried to claim it was already there - but had not noted it on the inventory, and the stuff that was noted had been pointed out to me before the move, even little trivial $2 items. When I pointed out the damage on my microwave cart, he says we don't pay for fiberboard, and hands me a waiver to sign indicating they won't pay - and he wants me to sign after the fact! If he'd shown it to me before the move, I could have dismantled some of the pieces. Later, when I file for damage claims, they conveniently forget the full value coverage I'd asked for. And, they denied paying for things that I tried gluing together, of went and bought screws to fix. Their reason: they couldn't see the item in it's broken state! Was I supposed to live 6 months without the TV center, dressers, and other items, while unpacking the house and filing the claim??!! You can only file one damage claim, so one better be sure you have unpacked everything before filing the claim. When I called, I thought I was getting Atlas, a company I'd used before and really liked. But, within state you don't get Atlas - a fact they did not tell me- but you get Ace. I tried calling Atlas headquarters to complain, and they agreed with me, and tried to intervene, but because it was an instate move with Ace, Atlas had no leverage. And I'm left holding the bag of damage. A year later, I am still waiting for my damage check. . . . Don't just walk away - run away from this company as fast as you can!!!!!! read more

Ace Relocation significantly damaged the wall of our residence during a move from Seattle. I contacted their claims department immediately to ensure the situation was remedied soonest. They engendered very little trust that the matter would be sorted during resulting conversations around repair. Further, they displayed very little concern and zero sense of urgency. We made a local move in Encinitas with Ace Relocation. It was a large move 4 BR, living, dining, office, family, breakfast, baby grand piano, large patio, etc. Frank Greene was our estimator. He was very professional, very thorough, and very responsive. Michelle Blake was our coordinator. Michelle also was very professional and responsive. Because we were able to close on our new house early, we elected to move our art, books and kitchen on our own after we signed the service order. Michelle handled the changes smoothly and quickly issued a credit on the payment we made. The house we moved from had restricted driveway access so the move took two days. Adam Rocher and his crew were exceptionally professional and careful through it all. All our items arrived in great condition. They set up the rooms as we requested and patiently consulted on positioning the baby grand piano! Overall the cost of the move was very reasonable. The service was excellent.
