I don't typically do seafood. It isn't my thing so getting sushi was never really something I ever wanted to do, BUT my New Year's Resolution was to try new things, Sushi is a thing that would be "new" so I browsed their menu to see if there was anything I might like. I decided on the Teriyaki Salmon Roll. I like Teriyaki and Salmon is the fish I hate the least so it shouldn't be too bad. I also grabbed a mini bowl to serve as my chaser in case things go south. The Mini Bowl: It had Teriyaki Chicken ( I love me some teriyaki), white rice, a piece of sesame chicken, and pan fried noodles. It was absolutely delicious. The worst part was the size. But it's the MINI bowl, if you want larger portions don't order the mini bowl. The Teriyaki Salmon Roll: It tasted exactly like I thought it would. I was still pleasantly surprised that I liked it as much as I did. This doesn't mean that I'm all of a sudden a seafood and sushi fanatic, but what it does mean is that I'll be more open to trying other sushi rolls in the very near future. I was about ten minutes late for happy hour and the server heard me say, "darn it" and honored the happy hours menu since we were just a little late. This place has really good ramen and salad. Whenever I'm in need of vegetables I head here and order their bbq chicken salad or their salmon salad, their dressing is delicious. Absolutely amazing! The location seems not like your 'exclusive' restaurant, but to pass this by only based on local is to disappoint greatly! Once inside, the restaurant is thematically japanese. From the hot sake machine, and selection of japanese domestic soft drinks, you instantly know that you are in for authentic taste! Looking inside, the seating was full, on a tuesday evening, the kind of thing that tells you that a strong following eats here regularly. Coming on Tempura Tuesday, I naturally started with a mix tempura for $2.25, 2 shrimp and two veg. It was hot, and extremely fresh, possibly one of the best tempura shrimps I have ever had, in part to how fast they must be turning out tempura, and in part to quality I ordered the Chicken Katsudon next as my entree. We did try to time our order by ordering the tempura early on, and ordering the entree later, but our waiter came around to remind us to order our entree, and the food came out almost all at once, which was a little disappointing to me because I like to eat slow, but I can understan the nature of the restaurant (lots of people) that their kitchen is probably moving at full speed. (this is the only thing for 4 stars, just the timing of the meal) The Katsudon was amazing, chicken, breaded and fried egg. The chicken was amazing and juicy, and hot. The rice in the bowl cooked and mixed with a light sauce making it quick and easy work for chop sticks. This was my first time here, and yes apparently, I have been living under a rock. I concur with Anton; when Bamboo was almost stictly a take-out place (good luck dining in back then with four tables and eight chairs), the expansion made it much more enjoyable to dine in. They did change the menu in recent months and while the food isn't spectacular, it is good. Last time I dined in, the servers messed up my order and I had to talk to three different people to find out where the mix-up was. Almost fourty-five minutes with no food or updates (did stock up on the Cokes, though). Wrote a critical, but fair email to the owner, who profusely apologized and offered me a $20 voucher. Food's fine, prices are reasonable, but just park in the Denny's parking lot and walk over...I've had too many close calls or hit homeless people leaving that parking lot. read more

The "Spicy miso ramen" was so good I had to yelp about it. The broth was very tasty, they give a good amount of noodles, and it's topped with some very flavorful peices of pork that almost melt in your mouth. Totally hit the spot. Other favorites of mine are the beef sukiyaki bowl and a Sapporo draft, or some of thier rolls and some nigori sake. You can get Sapporo pitchers super cheap too, just don't try to drink a pitcher by yourself or you'll be pretty faded. read more

I LOVE Japanese food. I crave it all the time but sometimes I don't want to go to some restaurant and sit forever, or I'm too lazy to cook. I want it, and I want it now. So, Bamboo Teri House. The food is good. Not the best I've ever had, but the best for a fast casual place. They have tons of options: tempura, udon, katsu, chicken/beef teriyaki, ramen, sushi, rolls, soba, curry. I usually get the 2 or 3-item combo or some rolls. The prices are decent and the portions are good-sized. They also have some really good deals. I just went for tempura Tuesdays, and they have tempura 1/2 off, and their tempura is really tasty. Usually I have problems with tempura dipping sauce (too thin, too bland, too salty, etc) and I find myself mixing concoctions at the table, but Teri House's is just right. If you go in during Happy Hour (3-6), they have a specials board with the deals for the day. I recommend Thursday's Super Shrimp Roll for $5. Overall, I really like this place. It's really cute, and the lady that owns it is really sweet. The girls that work the counter and the tables are usually really helpful and friendly. Yeah, parking sucks, but I've never had too much trouble or had to park very far. read more

I don't know why this place doesn't have a better review. Sure they're a bit pricey but we've been coming here for years and the foods always been great. They have a lunch special and sushi special, (I think every day of the week), it's usually $6.99 an you get whatever they're offering that day and it's always good. My favorites here are the sukiyaki (can't get enough of that beef), any of the salads, they make the most delicious miso ponzo dressing that I would probably try to drink if I could. The karrage (sp?) is also delish. The kids always go for mini bowls and miso with vegetable tempura on the side. DH always goes for the lunch special. I used to come here all the time, then switched jobs about 11 years ago and stopped coming as frequently. I came this evening since my son was in the hospital and ordered a chicken bowl. My other son ordered a California bowl and we ordered a Volcano roll to share. Both bowls were good, but the Volcano roll only had a few scallops on top of the calif roll. Literally like 1-2 scallops on each little roll! At most sushi places they pile the scallops on top with the mayo. The roll was $12 so it wasn't like it was cheaper than most legit sushi bars so it should've been made correctly. I complained to the waiter and he told me they had a new cook. I told him that he wasn't doing a very good job and he should let him know. Nothing else was said and no follow up, no manger, no I'm sorry I'll take that of your bill, or can I get you something else, nothing. I used to have weekly lunch outings here back in 2009. I remember living their noodles, chicken teriyaki, and Love Boat sushi being SO good. Today's visit I was hoping for some comforting nostalgia. Unfortunately, it was quite the opposite. -_- I take my 8 year old, and I order her the kids plate. It was better than what I had! It comes with Carrot tempura, 2 Cali rolls, chicken katsu, pan fried noodles, mandarin oranges and a few baked gold fish. It was actually all good. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl with noodles and a the coconut roll. The teriyaki sauce is still really good! The pan fried noodles were overcooked but still good flavor. Okay, here is what made my entire experience a 1. The roll I got had old chewy seaweed wrap (this should never happen!) And the salmon had a fishy smell. Not a subtle smell, one strong enough to make me throw my chewed roll into a napkin. I couldn't do it. It was the worst roll taste and fresh wise!! So, when the waiter came, I was honest "The seaweed is old and chewy. The salmon tastes fishy...this is awful" which he replied "Oh ok. Let me take that for you" little did I know, that he meant that literally. He did not take it off from my bill, he did not apologize, he did not even tell me he would make me another one! Such poor service, just like the quality of their food! Oh, and not to mention, when I walked in through the doors the first thing I said "Wow, I haven't been here in 10 years, hey! This place is pretty solid when compared to your typical sushi spot. They have your typical Japanese goodies, such as sushi, teriyaki, tempura, etc. It's "that" kind of place, not that I'm stereotyping or anything... but I think they make "that" food a step above the rest. Note: this review is based solely on the shoyu ramen. I just moved to lb and I was craving some good ramen. I would say I've had my fair share of ramen from multiple places, so I have an understanding of good and bad ramen. I ordered the shoyu with pork and was disappointed. After all the good reviews I realized none of them were talking about the soup. It cost me $9 after tax and I felt that it was overpriced for what I got. Very bland, little flavor and not enough effort put in. The noodles were a little undercooked and was charged for every extra ingredient that should already come with the soup. I've been wanting to try this place out for the longest time! Literally... almost a year! Everytime I drive past, they are either closed or it's lunch time and the parking lot is so full and there's no where to park your car. Well, I finally drove by last night and there was open parking... I went in and the place was dead. No customers. So I was worried. Is this place good? Is it only a place where the local business folks eat because there's no where else to go for lunch? What's going on? I really should have checked Yelp and decide NOT to go here. But that never seems the case. Yelp, for the most part tends to come after the fact. But on with my story. I was starving. So what's new? My friend and I walked in and besides no customers, there wasn't even a greeting - hi how are ya, welcome.... nothing. And there was a girl at the cash register just eye balling us. The guy just asked if we were going to order take out. As I said take out, he turned around and went to the back. So much for friendly service. It was there though, that I saw a take out menu. So being my first time here I was expecting someone to say here's a menu, look it over. Or point to them. Anything! Anyway, I grabbed the photocopied black and white menu for me and friend. What I really should have noticed and questioned was a photocopied menu? In black and white? And known instantly this was a bad idea. But of course, I was starving and belly ALWAYS wins. I saw they offered a Philadelphia roll and instantly wanted to eat cream cheese. But being hungry and thinking of tomorrow's lunch (and knowing nothings in the fridge at home, wanted to order food for tomorrow too). So I also ordered a pork katsu don. Then I saw the "specials" sign and saw they offered calamari. Mmmm, I ordered that too. When I asked what was inside their croquette, I got a weird look and the answer of mashed potato deep fried. I know what a croquette is but the inside varies where ever I go. And for 2 pieces for $4? Forget it... I'll go to Nijiya and order some for $1.50 each! So those 3 items were almost $23! Yeah... that was just me. Friend didn't want anything. This place is NOT cheap! Not even good food. I ate the Philadelphia roll and of course was still hungry! That wasn't even an appetizer, it was more like a pre-snack. Almost $9 for that? OMG, it's almost highway robbery! And the calamari? I can just guess it came out of a bag and deep fried. It was horrible! All I could taste was the batter... no calamari taste. Then the sauce that came with it? WTF is that!? I didn't know if it was for the 2 pieces of lettuce that came with it or if it was a dipping sauce. After taking one bite of that... ugh. That went straight into the trash can!!! As far as the pork katsu don. I've had so much better.... EVERYWHERE else. Yeah, it was that bad. It's just rice, fried pork cutlet and an egg on top and a couple strings of onion (was that suppose to be in there or was it an accident? It was like 2 pieces of onion... maybe it was an accident someone just dropped it in there.) As far as the egg on top, it looked like someone scrambled an egg poured it on top of the pork and rice and nuked it in the microwave to cook. Plus, I waited 25 minutes for my food... this was TO-GO! Come on now, I'm the only customer in the store and the 3 items took 25 minutes? I'm surprised you're still in business! Folks, this is bad bad bad Japanese food. It's not even cheap bad Japanese food! If it were cheap and bad, I'd be ok. But I paid almost $23 for horrible food! I'm better off going to Jack in the box and ordering a teriyaki bowl - at least I know it's cheap and bad food! I really have a problem ordering expensive bad Japanese food! Serious!! Me and my coworkers are regulars here. We work down the street and we're always in a rush, so it's important to us that the service is fast and delicious. This place conquers that and more! Their prices are quite reasonable for a Japanese restaurant. It means a lot to me when the owners themselves are managing their own restaurant. They don't hesitate to change your order or refund your money if it isn't what you want or they made a mistake on your order. No fuss or anything! Very quick and efficient. This place gets pretty crowded during lunch hours, but people are in and out quickly, so there are always seats. My favorite is the 2 item lunch special $8, and you can subsitute anything else you don't want. They serve brown rice and a kick-ass salad, doesn't hurt my diet at all ^^ read more

This place has been around forever! It used to be half the size in the early 90's and today it's twice as big. It's owned by a Japanese couple who is too darn cute, you can find them working 24/7. So, I've been coming to the Bamboo Teri House for almost 10 years. I went to school with the owners daughter, and my best friend worked here for a while. The decor inside is beautiful, although cluttered. The clocks on the wall are beautiful, and the service is fast. The food is great. I love their entrees. I'd say there are a few better places for sushi, though. Katsudon is a favorite of mine, along with the combo dishes they serve. Oh, and make sure to get extra noodles with your combo. **This is a Coca-Cola based establishment - YAY** The staff here are very friendly and attentive. During the day hours, you order at the counter and they bring it to you. In the evening, you are seated and waited on. Definately confusing if you don't remember what time it is. Not really anything too bad to say here at all. The only thing I can think, is that the prices are high. There was a time when I once loved this place and went here almost every week, but that was when Japanese food places were not very popular, if not rare. Now that I can get cheaper japanese food elsewhere, I stopped going here. A couple blocks down is another japanese place called Sushi West, and the food is just as good but cheaper. There are some things that I do like better about this place - there is more room inside, you can sit with a group and be waited on, and their sukiyaki bowl is pretty kick butt...but that's all i can think of. Parking is very limited, so even if you wanted to go with a group, you'd all have to carpool or something (or as suggested, park at Denny's). Still pretty good, but there are places with better selection and better prices out there. read more

Easy quick meals with healthy chicken --- I like how easy it is to call in an order and pick it up. The place is really clean with fast service. You can customize bowls easily by adding more broccoli, chicken breast only, or brown rice. Some people say its sacrilege to have brown rice with sushi but I say bring it on! I've been coming here for about two years. I've become a regular. You can't call it a sushi bar, because there is no bar. It's more of a teriyaki tempura sushi restaurant. I usually eat only sushi. I've settled on the crunchy spicy salmon roll because there is no tuna here. This is a good place to order takeout food from. We ordered the food and we got two bowls and an additional California roll on the side. As usual the service was great and it was ready when they said it would be ready. This place is normally very busy and it's nice to see that they can still handle all there take out customers. I stop by here everytime I get an oil change @ the EZ lube catty corner to this place. Unfortunately, it's just gotten worse and worse. I ordered the spicy sesame chicken for 6.99 and got about 8 bites of mostly breaded chicken smothered in a too sweet/too salty sauce that probably made the dish about 1000 calories and a 100% of my daily sodium count. On top of this, I ordered the spicy miso ramen special for 5.99. The food and portions were very disappointing, way too salty, the ramen broth tasted thrown together, not good. I've had their lunch specials, their sushi, etc. but it's just too expensive for what you get. I definitely need 2 entrees to have a decent lunch. I'd much rather go to sushi west down the street or Fuji Grill Also, I'm sure part of it has to do with the economy but we were the only ones there @ 11, but a few more people showed up by 11:30. read more
