We went for dinner this past weekend. I was planning on getting the mushroom ravioli dish, but unfortunately they sold out. Our server Jona suggested getting the branzino instead. Beautiful meal at Bar Becky tonight, perfect food and great conversation with Chef Jonathan Benvenuti and team. Amazing to have this level of food in the heart of LBC! Started with meatball appetizer and Ceasar salad, both just right - the meatballs especially great. Ordered Pesto pasta, carrots (do not miss the carrots!) and a delicious fish that I'm sorry I don't remember the name but wow, was it great with a fried squash and raisin sauce... a "ratatouille" moment if I've ever had one, it just sang to me. I came here for my birthday dinner. Got one of each of the appetizers and they were all fabulous. The carrots, the eggplant and the focaccia. Tried this place over the weekend for the first time. Here are the highlights: cool vibe and AWESOME service. The guys were super-friendly, helpful, attentive and open to feedback. Now for the food: Holy moly - get the sun chokes - by far the best dish we tried (beware though of the aftermath - google sun chokes to know what you are in for)! The other good - both the octopus and the squid ink pasta were solidly good. The mixed-bag was the focaccia. On the upside it was so light and fluffy but the downside - SO oily - like wring it out like a sponge oily. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other dishes and just pass on the bread next time. read more

Came in for brunch on the weekend with some friends after doing some market shopping near The Hanger.  Bar Becky was a really cool and inviting space with solid food. All the workers were super nice and attentive. Shout out to Jona, our gracious server! For the $35 two-course prix fixe, I got Becky's biscuits for the table, Prosciutto & Melon, and Chicken Fried Steak.  Biscuits came with 3 jams. The biscuits were perfectly sized to start the meal and all the jams were delicious! For the first course, I had the Prosciutto & Melon. I have never had burrata, melons, and prosciutto all together before, but it made me wonder why more places dont do this. The burrata was a nice and fluffy bed for this dish. The melons and prosciutto had a light and tasty balance of sweet and salty. This was my favorite dish! My second course was the Chicken Fried Steak. Never had chicken fried steak before in a non-diner setting so I wanted to try this out. The breading had a good salty crisp. The gravy was soooo good and I always love an egg on top! I had a couple of bites from my friends plates. Everything was solid. The Cold Smoked Salmon was on these mini donuts (!!) and the Tiramisu Stuffed French Toast was also a nice sweet, desert-like dish.  All in all, a really nice addition to the area! read more

Overall a highly enjoyable meal, space, and staff! Everything was cooked to perfection, the chicken tender, the meatballs bouncy and juicy, pasta al dente, and seafood tender. You could tell they perfected their cooking times and along with gorgeous plating. The staff were so attentive always refilling my water, making me and my friend non alcoholic cocktails since we don't drink. My friend and I sat at the bar and the camaraderie and engagement the chefs had made the whole experience fun and engaging! 2 highlight dishes were the focaccia with anchovy dip and the chili oil peach. The focaccia was soft, airy, and had a beautiful, delicate, moist, tender crumb, with a crisp outer shell topped with flakey salt and thyme. It paired so well with the anchovy dip which reminded me of a rich umami ocean bomb much like an uni cream sauce. The peach dish stood out for its harmonious flavors of sweet, tart, creamy, salty, and herbaceousness, with a tiny kick of spice. Along with textural party of crunchy nuts, smooth burrata, and soft peaches. It made a combination of flavors that beautifully dance together! Not too loud, cool room temp, perfect for a date night. My boyfriend and I received excellent service and hospitality from the moment we arrived, scoring 11/10. Jonas, our server, was friendly, attentive, and cared about our dinner. The meal is amazing. The creamy, pillowy Brown Butter Gnocchi is a flavorful appetizer we recommend. It goes well with Scratch Focaccia, baked crisp and airy, served with house-made butter or dipping oil. Perfectly al dente rigatoni in a rich, fragrant sauce makes a great meal. If you're craving seafood, consider the Branzino--perfectly grilled with a crispy shell and soft, flaky meat served with balanced sides. What an incredible dinner! Pretty stoked to see Chef Johnathan working his magic behind the kitchen after watching season 22 of Hell's Kitchen. Everything about this place was top notch. I felt well taken care of by Andy and Anthony who were both attentive and friendly. The drinks were great! Didn't get the bartender's name but the Thelonius Monk was definitely a favorite. We ordered almost all the appetizers which were all so delicious but my top were the focaccia and the meatballs. We chose spaghetti and prime ribeye for our entrees. The meat was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Also tried Mom's carrots and crispy eggplant. I'm no vegetarian but those were game changers. I've never looked back at a meal and considered the vegetable sides as the highlights of the dinner. If someone can make vegetables taste that amazing all the time then I'd consider going vegetarian. My second stomach for dessert was happy to try the vanilla panna cotta, chocolate budino, and corn cake. What a beautiful way to conclude an amazing meal. I really was looking forward to visiting Bar Becky. My friend and I first noticed that there were too many and too bright, IMHO. My friend had the duck, and I chose the prix fix dinner. The focaccia with di Parma prosciutto and ricotta was delicious. I make bread, and it was truly delicious. The scallop appetizer was the best part of my meal. My main was a mushroom risotto, which seemed to have too much truffle oil. I couldn't finish it. The biggest disappointment was the bread pudding. I did not look at the description, the waiter told me what the available choices were. Bread pudding is one of my favorites, normally. This was a bread pudding with peanut butter and berries, and cream. I am glad we came, but we won't be back. read more

Bar Becky is a total gem, and I feel very lucky to live a short drive away. We have dined their three or four times, and everything on the menu is a knock-out. Personal favorites include the focaccia, the carrots, and the peaches and burrata. Every pasta dish is also fantastic, and we love their cocktails - Expertly crafted and creative! Ive had this bookmarked for a while and finally went randomly a few weeks ago! They were busy but were able to seat us within like 5min which is great for a walk-in! Everyone was friendly but not over the top which was nice. Food and drinks were sooooo good. The cocktails were amazing! The focaccia and crudo were bomb. Their signature carrot dish was good but VERY sweet--bordering on a dessert (or like sweeet candied yams). Everything and everyone were exceptional! The lamb stroganoff and charred broccolini were beyond my expectations. The gin eastside, that bartender, Fabian, delivered was accompanied by his statement that it was made with extra love! Who does that? My sweet vermouth on the rocks was the best I have had, and Fabian brought me the bottle to see, as it was Piedmontese. The service could not have been kinder, or more observant. My wife and I have been trying to find some time off together to go to Bar Becky ever since Chef Johnathan started his pop up. We are so glad we found the time to go. The restaurant is very open and part of the fun and ambiance is seeing Johnathan and his staff cook for you and talk to you about his food and cooking. His food is phenomenal, best described as elevated Italian comfort food. The wait staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, always checking in on us to see how our dishes were going. We were lucky to sample a lot of his food on the menu. The focaccia was awesome. Very light and didn't feel heavy like a lot of focaccias that we have tried in the past. The octopus was super tender. The meatballs were tasty, reminding you that of the way your Italian grandmother might have made them. I'm always partial to squid ink pasta, and theirs was one of the best I've had. The seafood was fresh and sweet, and the pasta didn't have the seafood type fishiness that some squid ink pastas might have . All the pastas are made in house. Hangar steak was really great as well as his carrots and sunchokes. My wife was joking that he should bag the sunchoke chips and sell them! This place really has a family feel to it, and we felt like part of his family. Johnathan even said our kids are welcome to come by as well! We definitely will be back. Thank you! read more

We have been here a few times recently, and are usually good for a ticket of $150 to $300. The meals had been enjoyable to this point. Tonight was different. The quality was fine, but the restaurant made a conscious decision to scale back portions. Way back. The duck had about 2 ounces of meat and the Carbonara had been completely changed from what they have served the last few months. The menu only had about 1/3 of the normal options. "We are slow tonight" is not a good answer for a short menu and greatly reduced portions. The bottle of wine was fine, Moms Carrots were delicious and the other three apps were equally as good for the three of us. It has now been two experiences in a row that have not been good, so we will wish them well and remove them from our list of restaurants that we frequent during our 8 - 10 outings per month. By the way, the service is good and ambiance is okay too. My suggestion is not to quit going there, but I do suggest having a small meal beforehand or you may leave hungry. Cutting portions a bit? I totally get it. Cutting them in half? Not sure that is wise. Just my 2 cents. read more

I was excited to try Bar Becky. Met a friend for dinner last night. The staff was nice upon entry. We sat at a two top in the center of the restaurant. It was a good little spot. We hadn't seen one another in a while, so it was time to catch up. Lots to talk about. We got two starters that were delicious; the crudo and the focaccia with prosciutto. Promising. We ordered the branzino and pork Milanese for our entrees. We had finished our apps and waited for a bit for the entrees to arrive. We didn't really notice that as we had a lot of catching up to do. Entrees finally arrived. The branzino was tasty according to my friend. The pork Milanese was dried out and tough. For $32 (or $34), I expected a lot more. I had two bites and didn't finish. It didn't even have much flavor at all. The saving grace was the nice arugula salad that was paired with it. Once our food was set down, we didn't see our server again. I think we sat there for a good 45 minutes...maybe an hour? Finally, a busser stopped by to ask us how we were doing, and we just asked for the check. Again, never saw the server. I mean, he was in the restaurant, he just stopped coming by our table for some reason. Unfortunately, this first experience will be my last. Maybe if it had just been the dried out pork chop, I would give it another try, but the poor service took it over the edge. read more

We were very excited to try this place, but it just didn't measure up to expectations or price. We had the focaccia with anchovy, which was very cakey and a bit bland, and the anchovy was basically just Caesar dressing. We also tried the octopus which was a bit tough and had an aioli sauce that tasted like plain mayo. After the two disappointing appetizers we decided to finish our meal elsewhere and were very glad we did. Overall, the plating looked good, the service was good, but the food just wasn't special at all and didn't come close to being worth the price point. read more

Had an amazing first time here at Bar Becky. Our party came during the Long Beach restaurant week. Our server, Jona, made helpful recommendations on how we could maximize ordering from both the regular menu and the restaurant week order. He was very attentive and made sure our waters never stayed empty. As for the food, we ended up getting the scratch focaccia with anchovy dip and I was pleasantly surprised with how well balanced dip was as it had the fish flavor but balanced so well with the lemon. We also got the mom's carrots and I wished my mom could make carrots like this it was slightly sweet and the flavors just went so well together. OMG! If you love Hell's Kitchen this was an amazing experience if you can't go to the actual restaurant. I went with a party of 3 (my sister, childhood friend, me), and even tho we didn't have a reservation and they were very busy they said if we could wait a few minutes we could eat at the bar top. We had grandma's focaccia bread with anchovies sauce which was very delicious and obviously very fishy! Then the glazed pork belly which we all found the glaze to be very yummy! I didn't have any salad but my party shared and they loved the dressing and would've loved if there was a bottle to buy! My party had the spinach pasta and I had the hanger steak. I really enjoyed my steak dinner and the crispy potatoes. I wish there was a little more sauce but there was enough for every bite. All of our plates were basically licked clean. We did have a dessert which was some sort of chocolate cup with meringue and marshmallow fluff.... Enough about the food tho. The servers were spectacular. I think ours was Kenny, but there were multiple ppl attending to our table and we loved how they gave a breakdown of the food each time it came to the table and a mini story.
