2019 comes to end & 2020 is on the horizon. Felt like some vegan pizza. Pizza is a mandala. I'm Italian. Born in Manhattan, raised in Strong Island before my fam moved to FLA. I had real deal NY pizza growing up. In FL before I became a vegan I was a cook at Pizza Hut. Now have been vegan for 20 years. Things have gotten much better for being vegan & finding vegan pizza. Granted this is not a NY style vegan pizza yet appreciate the vegan pie here for what it's worth. In the day it was using tofu as cheese which was just fine yet now you can find many vegan pizzas at a mainstream grocery store. Plant powered cuisine, vegetable forward, vegan, vegetarian, & flexitarian is here to stay so is nice to go to a place like Blaze to get a vegan pizza pie. It is like Chipotle where you can customize your vegan pie. I got it fully loaded like the velvet underground w/ veggies, soyrizo faux meat, & vegan cheese. It was fast fired. Affordable. Blaze Pizza was founded in 2011 by Elise and Rick Wetzel of Wetzel's Pretzels in Pasadena, California. It goes by a made-to-order approach to serving customers. Pizza are "Fast Fire'd" in a open-flame oven with an average cook time of three minutes. Basketball player LeBron James is one of the original investors in the chain. This place is located in the front entrance of Stonestown Mall in San Francisco. Inside is loud and busy as it sits at a corner of a mall entrance. Some staff seemed friendly while some seemed disgruntled. There are seating arrangements inside and outside. As for cleanliness, you get what you come for, as in, know that this is a fast-paced restaurant with a lot of customers and foot traffic. It felt awkward to sit inside and eat as the environment was chaotic and busy. The staff seemed confused when I asked them to clarify what are the vegan crust and sauce options. Initially, the person who took me at the first segment order pane turned me down quickly and said nothing was vegan. I had to quickly ask Google for the right answers and then I asked again to check for me. They went to the extent of asking the manager, I think, or some older worker, to check, and then made a big fuss and all to get the ingredient list of some sort to make sure. I hope my encounter taught them to know this part of their job. They use vegan cheese (Daiya) if you opt for it. The original crust and red sauce base are already vegan. I wanted to customize my pizza and asked for jalapeño, green pepper, red pepper, olive, mushroom, and pineapple (yes, pineapple goes on pizza). I also asked for dollops of red sauce and more cheese. Great place if you like pizza and customization. They have good ingredients and it's tasty with a fair price point. The only negative I have about this place is they don't have delivery. I mean there is an option on the app to have your pizzas to be delivered, but it always tells me there's no one to assign the delivery to. Seriously, I don't know how many times they lost an order because of this because I think I have tried at least 10 times for the past half a year alone, and I think I give up. So sad about my experience here. If you know me, you know I LOVE blazed pizza. Genuinely, I think it would be my last meal if I got the choice. However, my experience here was so disappointing. I've been here twice and the experience has gotten progressively worse. I went last night for dinner and while we literally got there with no line, we had to wait for about 10 to-go orders to go through before they even took ours. On top of that, I felt extremely rushed through the process and the customer service (besides the guy at the cashier who was super nice) was extremely subpar. They took my pizza out of the oven and it waited on the side (uncut) for 7 minutes while they took out the to-go pizzas and cut those and put those in boxes. Like what???? I'm already here in person... like why have my pizza get cold right in front of my eyes? It literally felt refrigerated when I finally got to eating it. Also, at other blaze's, when your pizza comes out they call you over to see what toppings you want after it cooks. The lady just boxed ours up without calling our names and we had to ask her to put additional drizzles on it. Finally, while I was waiting for the pizza, i went to the bathroom and the urinal was clogged and overflowed onto the floor with urine and there were literal poop stains on the floor near the toilet. There was also no toilet paper in the restroom. On top of this, the person who used the restroom before me was an employee... you think that they would clean it or warn me not to go in beforehand??? Honestly so disappointed in my experience here. I love blaze but my boyfriend and I both agreed that we can't come back to this location after this horrible experience. As a fan for Blaze pizza for many years. I would say this location was a big disappointment. The staff looked nice but they don't seem to treat the pizza right. When ordering the girl tried to put minimum of everything that we asked. Not enough cheese, not enough meat not enough vegi. We had to ask more this and that several times. The baked pizza was soft not crunchy. Nothing like the pizza we had at Fremont or other locations. One other "smart" thing that they did was the free water cup. They provided the paper cone that you usually see at a water venting machine at shows or airport. You can't take a cup of water and sit down to enjoy the meal. Then go get whatever drink you want in the mall. Pizza should be ready by then. Inside do looks dark and can get crowded. Go outside patio if possible. read more

So when our pizza got done they only cut 6 but we couldn't really tell until we got to the car. We opened our pizza and started to eat already I notice GLOBBS of cheese not melted in every bite so I stopped eating because my stomach started to hurt and I started to examine our pizza and as you can see in the picture this does not even look appetizing. I can't believe I'm giving a chain restaurant four stars but I am! The food has been constantly good! I really like the high rise crust it has a nice chewy taste, really good with all toppings. I love the option of putting pesto and tomato sauce. I've gotten their cheesey bread with pesto and it's pretty much half of a cheese pizza, great budget meal . And After you collect your points or if you're getting your birthday or half birthday present l, yes I got a half birthday treat haha I always go for the brownie! Blaze Pizza allows for various combinations with their decent selection of various toppings, sauces, etc. The great level of customization Blaze allows is fantastic! From being able to choose the type of dough to whatever toppings you'd like, there's just so much you can craft based on your cravings. Prices vary depending on your toppings, so be wary of your selection. I think the three topping pizza choice is a decent bang for your buck. My only concern is how sparse they can be with some toppings. The fast service is great, but better attention to the amount of toppings would be ideal too. Overall, the pizzas are cooked well and aren't overly done. They're flavorful and filling. Definitely worth a try but hoping for improvements. read more

Tastes pretty darn close to pizza, especially piled with lots of toppings but of course, the crust isn't like your standard chewy dough. Still hits the spot though if you're trying to be keto and you're dying to have some pizza. I used their app to preorder and customize my options. The pickup is a little confusing because I got the notification that my pizza was ready when it came out of the oven but I was looking for it on the pickup shelves so I had to go to the counter to ask and they happen to still be putting on finishing drizzle. You do have to keep in mind that the 6g of carbs is per slice and each pizza has 6 slices. The entire experience was upsetting. Firstly, I am a college student, so the $35 for 5 items was so exciting to see. However, they do not disclose the amount of additional charges and we ended up with a $50 check AFTER the pizzas were in the oven, leaving us with no choices. Secondly, our food was so greasy and was messily thrown together without care for cross contamination. We have incorrect ingredients on a few of ours as a result. I am gluten free and the crust was basically uncooked in the center, and under the cheese was so droopy it felt like I was just eating dough. Thirdly, not a single clean table. Everything had sauce, grease, and trash. Will never be coming back to this location which is upsetting because the Blaze in my hometown has always been wonderful. Extremely disappointed. read more

For under $10, you can select all the toppings you want on a normal, thick, or cauliflower crust that gets baked up in a flaming oven to a hot, crispy, delicious pizza! Even when the line was long on my visit, the staff here has their system down and moves everyone along efficiently while providing great service! I selected a cauliflower crust pizza with spicy tomato sauce, vegan chicken, turkey meatballs, ricotta cheese, and a whole load of veggies, including jalapenos, olives, spinach, and more! The best part about the pizza was definitely the cauliflower crust--it was thin and crispy, and you would never be able to tell that it was made of cauliflower! I also had a half pizza with the regular crust to compare, and it definitely had more chew to it, but the same hot, crispy texture. I also had a side salad of arugula, strawberries, feta, and balsamic dressing, which was a nice complement to the meal. Came to Blaze pizza the other week & ordered the 11 inch with unlimited toppings. I didn't really have much high hope but honestly it was better then I expected and the dough was really nice. I got so many toppings for my pizza and they cooked it really well. I like having the options of also doing half and half for the sauce. The service is also really good. Blaze is always the top restaurant I go to when I am at stonestown. The wait can be long sometimes but it is always worth it. After my pizza is made it is cooked quickly in the oven. You can request to make it well done like I always do, and the oven person always knows how to do it perfectly. The food always taste fresh and good, always leaving my stomach feel perfectly full. The workers are all friendly and help with anyquestions. I've been trying out each of the sauces and they are all amazing so try them out. Pretty good pizza actually! There's always a long line when I pass by on my way into Stonestown-- Thought it was all hype at first until I ordered via Grubhub. Good chewy crust, love that you can pick a bunch of different toppings without any additional charge, but the only 2 things I have to complain about are 1.) They don't offer mushrooms as a topping or at least it isn't an option on Grubhub which is a bummer-- 2.) The 2 times I've ordered pizza, they forgot to include ranch on the side. Tried Blaze pizza for the first time, and it's not bad. I did 1/2 a pizza with Dough Nuts and both were good! Some places make pesto too salty, but here they did not do that with the Dough Nuts. I started my pizza as one off the menu, but quickly it became customized the minute they told me I can add or change anything. I went here over the weekend on Sunday with my boyfriend around 2:50pm. The Stonestown parking lot was packed that day, so we thought this place would be packed too, but it wasn't! When we got in line, I ordered my pizza first and then my boyfriend ordered what he wanted, but it was under the same name. The staff ended up placing his pizza ahead of mine even though I chose what I wanted first. This caused them to mess up our "build your own pizza" order a little because we each wanted a different type of dough (I got the high rise and my boyfriend got the original). While we were waiting for our food, my boyfriend got his food first, (probably because mine was a high rise) which I was ok with. The pizza was very good! I feel like it has improved from when it first opened because of the dough options and variety of toppings! I'd recommend this place, but be sure to have the staff clarify what pizza they are asking you about if you ordered more than one! Ordered online Friday during Covid19 time for pick up at 5:30pm. Easy ordering. Got one email confirming my order and pickup time. Pickup in person was a bit confusing. I turned the handle by the back door, but it didn't turn. I went into mall to figure if the other entrance was open and it was not. I asked the guard how to get into Blaze. He said by the patio door outside. As I walked back out, one employee had opened the door and went back inside. I went back to door and waved through the glass windows, but I guess they couldn't see me. I stood back at locked door handle and tried to search for my receipt to see if I was missing something about how to get in. The security guard Said go in. I am thinking to self, huh? The door is locked. Hmm...then I decided to just pull the door and it actually opened! They need to make a sign that says pull door to pick up order in front. It was very confusing and I was under time pressure because I had to pick up my other takeout location where I know I wouldn't have an issue with my pick up since I been there last week in Daly City and their ordering process and pickup is a breeze. I was the only person here so it was difficult for me to figure out what to do. As I was leaving then one person came in. Like really? How did she know how to come in? I prefer Blaze over MOD pizza. I usually order BYO (build your own) with the spicy red sauce and original dough. They offer cauliflower crust and gluten free crust. I love their variety of toppings. They are quite generous with the toppings. I knocked down two stars because the customer service is lacking. Some of the workers weren't very friendly and the wait was quite long. They seemed very unorganized. One of the workers rolled his eyes when the guy in front of me asked him to add more chicken to his pizza. The trash seems to be always full and tables weren't very clean. I think with better management, this place can definitely improve. Don't forget to ask for extra sauce once your pizza is ready!
