Went here for a New Year's Eve dinner, was not too busy but the host was very kind and got us seated right away, even giving us the choice of what area/table we would prefer to sit at. The lighting was a bit dim but besides that the atmosphere in the restaurant was wonderful, very calm yet elegant, the perfect place for a date night dinner. We started with the Iberico pork and the potatoes bravas, both so delicious and went very well together as starters. Next was the chicken cannelloni which was also super good, the mushroom sauce went so well with the chicken. For the main we got the grilled octopus, which was the highlight of the night for me. It was so juicy and so tender, unlike any octopus I had ever had before, and the presentation was on point! To finish we had a spanish crème bule and caramel-filled churros, both just hit the spot to end a fantastic meal. Paella takes 30 minutes, so if you know you want to order one, get that order in right away. Server was nice and had the courtesy to tell us they include gratuity for parties of five or larger. Turned out to be s good meal. We got an assortment of tapas: Olives - really good, especially with the lemon zest, but a little on the salty side Octopus - very tender, came with peach confit and gastro foam. Nice presentation. Oxtail - super tender, but the oxtail lacked flavor. Prawns were a nice touch. Secreto Iberco - this was the star of the show. The meat was crisp to perfection, potatoes were tasty, and onion chips were delightful. Favorite dish by everyone at our table. Meat paella - this was super tasty too, don't forget to squeeze the lemon juice. The sausage on it was really good. Drinks were kinda hit or miss. The Chardonnay from Spain is really good and brings out really nice flavor transformations with the food. The cucumber cocktail is super refreshing. It takes 30 mins to make so make sure to request it asap. The service was good, they were very attentive and were knowledgeable about their foods. Where to begin... we were a party of 11 and sat at the long table at the back. The place was not crowded when we came after the Harry Potter show and expected to have awesome food and service. We tried, all the Paella and for me the Paella Negra was the best they have. I think everyone was hungry and devoured appetizers like gambas, pulpo, patatas bravad and oysters. The food is ok. I had better tapas in Napa and San Diego. We brought 2 bottles of wine and as expected, was charged a corkage fee. Our server who probably took a break after taking our orders was MIA until he showed up with the check. Whoever replaced him needs more training. He poured wine clumsily and spilled a little bit in one of the scarfs. He apologized but didn't seem to care. He handed our food to us instead of putting on the table. The nice restaurant vibe is not there. So if you want ok food and so so service in an expensive restaurant after a show at Curran Theatre, this is your place. So yeah, maybe I will go back but leaning towards NO. read more

We came here last weekend for a late lunch with some friends after getting into the city. When we first got there, we were the only 4 people in the restaurant and were seated right away. Our server was really nice and we got our drinks and food quickly. The restaurant was very pretty too. Where it fell short was the food. We probably have very high expectations as my husband is from Spain and we regularly make tapas at home and have been to many tapas restaurants. With the exception of the croquetas that were still cold and icy in the center, everything was mostly edible. The flavors of many of the aiolis were not balanced and often overpowering to the dish itself. The patatas bravas were good, but the amount of what I think was paprika that was on top was way too much. The octopus had good flavors, but was over cooked. The oxtail meat was cooked well, but was so under seasoned that the meat did not taste good at all. The shrimp were cooked well and really good size, but the underlying flavors from the seasoning were overwhelming and slightly bitter/metallic. The sangria was very good and had a spice in it that we aren't typically used too, but really enjoyed. The charcuterie board was good too. Overall, we were pretty disappointed in the meal, but very aware that maybe it was the time we were there as they had possibly just opened for the day. I stopped in here with some coworkers to get some quick bite to eat prior to an event. For a Wednesday evening it was fairly empty inside. The service was quick and we were well taken care of during our multiple orders of food. We split 2 rounds of bacon wrapped dates, grilled octopus, potatoes, a meat and cheese board, a mushroom/ cheese/ chicken dish, and grilled shishito peppers. By far the best was the bacon wrapped dates and the food came in great portion sizes for a few of us to split. Would recommend this place for solid tapas. First time here. Like the decor and all the dishes we ordered. Our server was also top notch - gave up free sangria samples to try. The white sangria was delicious. Even better than the sangria was the "found in translation" vodka cocktail. 5 stars and delicious. As for food, we opted for six tapas as we wanted to try everything. - cold tomato soup - super yummy 5 stars - kale cucumber salad with blue cheese - 4 stars. Loved the pear and blue cheese flavors - paquillo peppers stuffed with salted cod fish - 4 stars. Great with bread - garlic prawns - 4 stars. Wow were there a lot of garlic and also oil. Really tasty but a little oily. - potatoes - decadent with spicy aioli - everyone is right crispy and yummy - oxtail with prawns - 5 stars. Love the soup it comes in. Was dipping my bread non stop. I did not realize this was a hotel restaurant until after I was befuddled by the bad food and outrageous price. Then it made sense. This is a paella and tapas restaurant but their tapas prices are at the rate of a full meal. I had one tapas dish and it was alright, but I really wanted the $60 paella. It was bad. I mean it would be okay if it was a third of the price. This was essentially just seasoned rice with the ingredients tossed in. Paella takes time and effort to get a solid blending of flavors. This had to be the worse paella I've ever had. It's like a paella if a hillbilly heard about paella and then made it with a rice-a-roni. They have no idea what paella is. However, if they had priced the food to the quality they would've gotten a 3rd star but having a dunning-kruger level of knowledge about your main dish must not be overlooked. I recently held a group dinner at Bota and it exceeded every possible expectation I had (and I had many!) I worked with the manager, Miguel, to create a menu beforehand that fit my budget and he did a great job working with me. His communication was stellar, which was so appreciated. The space is really beautiful. It was busy but not too crowded on a Wednesday evening, and I love the open kitchen concept. There's a ton of natural light and it's a great space to spend a few hours. Everyone was so friendly, too, from the hostess to our waiter. Everyone enjoyed a craft cocktail and we also had a pitcher of red and white sangria -- way better than I expected! It was so fresh and well-made, and everyone loved it. I'll just include a list below of the food we ordered and tell you that everything was absolutely exceptional.
