We loved this place! A short walk from our hotel, it proved to be an oasis of calm on a cold and windy evening. Our server Keith was attentive, and patiently explained the menu items. Everything we tried was delicious. Particularly enjoyable were the Bota martini (essentially a martini boosted with sherry!), the patatas bravas, and the chocolate ganache dessert. I think they are especially known for their paella, but be aware that this will take extra time to prepare - so we weren't able to try it on this visit. But we will definitely be making a return visit, next time we're in SF! read more

This place is delicious. The vibe and atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. The seafood Paella was my favorite along with the grilled octopus. The tentacle was so juicy and tender, it literally tasted like steak. This place is connected to the Warwick Hotel, which is convenient if you're staying there. The oysters with the foam was so fresh. Definitely need to come back for those. The muscles and shrimp was on point. The food came out quickly and was beautifully presented. My son and I had a meal to remember here! My son had the oxtail , the lamb chops , chicken strips, and bacon wrapped dates. All were so delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful and the sauces were unique and perfectly spiced. We also had the cheesecake and churros for dessert which were both divine. The food is amazing. We arrived at 5:15 (with theater tickets at 7pm at the Curran). By 6pm the place was full. We ordered and got 8 dishes very, very quickly. If you come early, pace your ordering if you want a more leisurely dinner. If you come later looks like you should be prepared to wait for your food. Once we had finished our fabulous food no one paid attention to us or cleared the table. We had to ask for that service. The table was cleared and the spilled wine was left on the table. Ambience was fantastic, food was on point and the service was exceptional. It's not that often that the executive chef comes out to make sure you are enjoying your food. We sat at the bar and ordered a charcuterie plate with cheese- presentation was very nice. Then we made our way to Iberico Meatball and the the highly recommended Secreto Iberico tapa. Extremely mediocre experience. I chose this restaurant because I was watching a play across the street, and they were offering a 10% discount if you showed your ticket. I had some good paella recently in Napa, so I was excited to try some more paella elsewhere. Not only was this paella overpriced for what it was, but it was also very salty and peppery. To start, I made a reservation via OpenTable, and the hostess at the front was very apathetic. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Saturday night, so I asked if we could sit at a larger table if possible, but she said they were reserved. The multiple tables near us stayed empty throughout our meal. Our server checked in on us a few times, but to be honest, everyone working there just seemed annoyed to be there overall. We were going to order dessert, but opted not to since the overall experience wasn't great so we didn't want to stay for longer. We ordered the garlic prawns to start. They were pretty good, the sherry wine is strong but the garlic confit was delicious actually. Really great tapa if you like garlic a lot like I do. I wish they served bread or something (to my knowledge they don't, I wasn't offered) because extra bread to dip with would've been great. The shrimp was succulent and fresh. I would recommend this if you come. $16 Of course, we had to order the paella, which took approximately 30 minutes to come out as our server had previously disclosed to me since I asked how long it would take. For what it is, I think it's extremely overpriced. The paella was one dimensionally flavored with just pepper, and that's it, I couldn't taste the other spices. There was also no socarrat at all. In fact, it was pretty mushy, salty, and peppered way too much. I can't recommend it, and I was pretty disappointed. Decent size to share for two. $49 for regular size After the paella, we just wanted to leave so we didn't get dessert like we initially planned to. Our server was able to easily apply our show discount though. Overall, I can't recommend this place for the paella/overall experience, but the shrimp was good. We came here on a Wednesday evening where we were able to get seated pretty much immediately. We started with some sangria to drink which was pretty good as well as some patata bravas, which was also good. For our main course we went with the surf and turf paella. We were staying across the street and thought this place had an appealing look to it and looked nice so we decided to go for a quick snack before a big dinner. This was early in the day and only 1 to 2 tables were occupied when we walked in. The host asked if we had reservations, which we didn't and seemed very off put about that. No conversation except for the question of what we want to drink and eat basically. The food was OK. The brussels sprouts were not cooked through and seemed raw inside. The dates, which is one of my favorite dishes in general, had too much balsamic but otherwise pretty good. Meatballs were a little bland. And we just had tapas for our main dish. I got the brussels sprouts and jamón iberico. My husband got the octopus, and Patata bravas. They were excellent! The ambience is very calming, and atmosphere is very relaxing. For tapas and drinks I would not recommend any other place but this one! It was only a short walk from the JW Marriott. The paella has a nice fragrance, some sweet char on the bottom of the rice with the prawns, muscles, and fish inside. Presentation on point, the octopus was much better than anticipated. Come with about 3-4 pieces of octopus. Ox Tail $19: tempranillo braised, prawns. Juicy oxtail, can never go wrong. Shrimp was a bit overcooked and dry. Meat Paella $47 Regular: chicken, spicy chorizo pork, piquillo peppers. Overall pretty good. I wish it was a bit more seasoned though. Secreto Iberico $23: Organic black pork, tomatoes, marbled potatoes, garlic, thyme. Pretty good, SLIGHTLY tough, but overall a good flavor Chocolate Ganache $9: chocolate ganache balls, olive oil, sea salt and sugar baghette. IDK why, the picture made it look like mini lava cakes haha.. whoops. But its basically chocolate pieces .:: Service/ Ambiance/ Parking ::. Our server was nice! (I prefer thin cut bacon wrapped tightly and baked till it's like a bacon-y shell around the date) Octopus was tender and good, but potatoes with were not seasoned and lemon "air" was foam that did not taste like lemons. Brussels sprouts--fried but not anything special Chicken cannelloni--hardly any chicken, slathered in bland bechamel. Not sure why this is on the menu. I recommend the owner and chefs visit several other Spanish/tapas restaurants and maybe book a trip to Spain.
