We stayed at the hotel and had breakfast here. You can pay the bill or have it added to your room. Service was quick and friendly. All the food was very good especially the chicken sausage which is a sentence I never thought I'd utter.

Bota Tapas and Paella Bar is a really good Spanish restaurant located near Union Square. They have an extensive menu of various Tapas plates you can share. Here's what our party of 3 had: Jamon de Bellota (aged Iberico ham), *Brussels Sprouts, *Bacon wrapped dates, *Garlic prawns (really delicious in a garlic sherry sauce to dip bread in), * Spanish Meatballs made of beef & ham with cheese, Escalavida which is an eggplant, onion, pine nuts etc. mixed all together. Then we shared the "Regular" size seafood paella which was perfect for 3 people if you are also having tapas. They made the rice just right, crispy. Dessert - we shared the San Sebastián cheesecake, I think I would try one of the other desserts next time Wine - good list of Spanish wines, I had a glass of albararino, excellent. Restaurant is nicely decorated and service is good -- will definitely be back.

Planned a Friendsmas and decided to head downtown to check out BOTA. BOTA is a tapas and paella bar with a spacious vibe and a menu packed with great options. We kicked things off with pear confit, a charcuterie board, patatas bravas, Brussels sprouts, grilled octopus, and grilled eggplant that totally reminded me of a tartare. Then came the oxtail and, of course, the seafood paella. Verdict? Uber delicious. Definitely not your average tapas spot. The amazing service and even better company made the whole experience unforgettable. Check out my photos.

Came here for Father's Day and it was pretty good. We got quite a few tapas and then two of their paellas. The tapas we got were the meatballs, mussels, chicken cannelloni, and oysters. The paellas were the seafood one and the squid ink. Dessert was the Creme Catalan as well as the churros. All four of the tapas were perfect. I do wish the oysters were bigger though. There were plenty of mussels otherwise and the chicken cannelloni was really good too. The meatballs were amazing and with the extra sauce, it was easy to use bread to soak it up. The restaurant overall was a bit quiet since we came during lunch, but it was perfect for my parents. Our server was also extremely attentive and got everything we ordered in a timely manner. Overall, definitely would come back if I had a craving for Spanish food in SF.

If you're looking for a true Spanish flavor restaurant this is THE place to go too with great ambiance and customer service

Stopped in for dinner before a show. Definitely not a spot for cocktails, but they had a good wine list. All of the food was very flavorful and we enjoyed it a lot! We decided to stick with tapas instead of paella, and it was more than enough food. Highly recommend the octopus and shishitos. We also had the patatas bravas and the steamed mussels. Our server was attentive, and answered questions. This spot is in a hotel, but doesn't give that vibe. The only odd thing is the bathroom is downstairs in the hotel.

Very good! We love Spanish food and wine, so we were looking forward to trying this restaurant almost directly across from the Curran Theater. We made reservations but almost had the place to ourselves at 2:30 in the afternoon after a Saturday matinee. The restaurant is in a lovely space attached to the lobby of the hotel next door, and although it was quiet during our visit, I'm pretty sure it's bustling during normal meal hours. We weren't quite hungry enough to taste all we would have liked, but enjoyed some tapas recommended by our kind waiter -- Secreto Ibérico, Oxtail, and Grilled Prawns -- along with grilled bread and a delicious bottle of Tempranillo. Note -- if you plan to have 2 glasses each, it's worth it to get a bottle here. The prawns were very slightly dry, but the meats were outstanding. Overall the food was rich and succulent, accentuated with lots of Spanish olive oil and garlic. We'd definitely return and I'd love to try more dishes next time. Delicioso!

Service was great and food was delicious. Ambiance of the restaurant was great. We loved the bacon wrapped dates and charcuterie board. Garlic prawns- 5/5 Meatballs- 4/5 Bacon wrapped dates: 5/5 Patatas- 3/5 (too much seasoning) I would come vacj

Dio was an exceptional manager and provided the most enchanting night for my and some good friends. The paella and ambiance were exceptional, can't recommend enough. Keith always made sure we had a great night.

Picked this place based on the rating and quick skim of reviews, not realizing it's a hotel restaurant. That doesn't matter because it's a good restaurant on its own! We enjoyed the Squid Ink Paella--there were only a few pieces of shrimp but lots of mussels. The flavor was complex and the rice was a nice accoutrement. Does "accoutrement" work here? Maybe "accompaniment." We also enjoyed the Bacon Wrapped Dates appetizer and Brussels Sprouts side. The chocolate ganache dessert was rich, sweet, and good. Service was kind, fun, and funny.

Overall the food is of good quality here, the service is professional, and ambiance is classy. However the menu is limited and there isn't much of a cocktail menu either. F O O D: Paella 3.5/5 stars Taste and presentation were great but the seasonings lacked despite seeing that they used real saffron flower strands that were visible in the rice. A good paella but not one I would drive into SF for again. Bacon wrapped dates with manchego cheese 5/5 stars This tapa only comes with 5 pieces so there's that awkward who takes the last one whether it's 2, 3, or 4 people... why do restaurants do this??? It's probably more irritating since it was so delicious. The perfect pairing of sweet dates with the savory flavor of bacon and melted manchego at the center. I also loved the attention to detail in plating it with greens and edible flower petals. This is a mouthwatering dish. I would definitely order this again. Brussel sprouts 4.5/5 stars Crispy, tasty, a bit oily but great nonetheless. It also is a small portion. S E R V I C E: Sometimes it was hard to get a hold of the server so we asked the other server attending the other table near us (we were the only two couples on this half of the restaurant) but I like that they weren't overbearing in their presence either. They refilled the water glasses in a timely manner too. A M B I A N C E: Lovely atmosphere with thoughtful curated design. Great place to take a date.

The interior is so thoughtfully done here, so many cute little details that really add color to the restaurant and a fun lively vibe. Someone fact check me, but it looks like a restaurant that is well established and has been loved for many years in SF. We went on a Friday and they even had live music right behind us! Food was spectacular especially at this pricepoint. The seafood platter was literally huge and just so much seafood and bursting with flavor. The steak and mushroom dish we got was also insanely good, and shoutout to the grilled artichokes too. That one had a really nice course salt on top that was a great touch. The food was okay. We were a little disappointed at the meat. It just wasn't very tender, rather a bit tough to chew. The fish tasted good so maybe the seafood is better here. The patatas aioli was yummy and I'm glad we ordered that over patatas bravas. The rice in the paella was okay. Not the best paella I've had, but not the worst either. Churros were yummy, so I'm glad we gave dessert here a shot. I noticed this is a popular place for big groups ordering pitchers of sangria and paella to share. But, personally I feel there are other places in SF I would go to for that instead.

How good can a meal possibly be? Can it be so good that you never want it to end? Oh my God,…read moreeverything we ate was that good. We. Were. OBSESSED!!! As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed with applause, like everyone was already our friend. We sat at the big communal tables with other groups, and honestly, we loved that experience. I can't remember the name of the potato dish right now, but I included a photo of it--it was the second best potato dish I've ever had in my life. And that octopus... you just want to reach over and hug it because it's too perfect to eat. It was incredibly tender on the inside, with the lightest, crispiest exterior. And that amazing flavor... ahhh, it was so, so good. We also ordered a steak, but I realized I forgot to take a picture of it. It was delicious too. The only bad thing about this place? The portions eventually come to an end. Guys, you seriously need to invent never-ending portions. The churros were amazing too. Every single dish was unique. You could tell so much thought and effort had gone into creating flavors that were anything but ordinary. Even though we were seated about 30 minutes after our reservation, it honestly didn't bother us one bit. I think I could've waited two hours and still thought it was worth it. How did you do this??? How did you manage to get a review like this out of me? Seriously, well done. We'll definitely be back as soon as possible!

When the rest of my party arrived, they were closer to 5 but we still had to wait until exactly 5:00 to get in. When we finally got in, the fake, pawn shop front was pretty cute. We got the ceremonious tour and speal and were lead into the back where the bar is. They sat us upstairs in back and let us know that we had 1 hour before we would need to leave for a large party coming in. Limited menu for both drinks and apps. No entrees, couldn't even get a Cabernet. The "large party" coming in to kick us out never materialized. Overall feel was that they didn't want us as customers. Not impressed. Even if it's nice outside, dinner time is when the wind tunnels blow through SF and I wouldn't want my food getting cold. It's pretty dimly lit inside with plenty of couch-like booth seating, as well as regular tables. The noise levels were pretty standard. The bathrooms are hidden behind a curtain. Service: This is where I docked a star. The server we had was so unfriendly. He was trying to rush us to make a decision about food and when we asked him about certain items, he didn't really describe the items at all. He just reiterated the menu, as if we're supposed to know what that meant. We asked about the Tagine and had no idea what it was and he just repeated tagine, which, wasn't helpful at all. We had to keep asking for water because they didn't have someone coming by with water, and when we did, it was like we were asking for the moon. It was so much trouble. Food: Trio of Spreads - very flavorful and served with pita bread. There wasn't enough bread for all the dips, but we basically used other dishes we had to dip. I wanted to clear everything and lick the bowls. Spanish Octopus - one single tentacle, charred and perfectly cooked, however for $26, would I order this again? Likely not. I thought it would be at least two, or a pretty sizeable one. The flavors balanced well, as well as the textures. Spring Lamb Shank Tagine - this came in a closed ceramic cone, which they opened and presented to us very quickly. The lamb was tender and pulled apart immediately with a fork and the meat was so juicy. The surrounding root vegetables were also tender to the bite and refreshing paired well with the heavy lamb taste. TL;DR - Inside seating is nice and not windy. Server was rude and you don't get good water service. Food is tasty. Overall would recommend.
