Just another resturant that over books and leaves guest twiddling their thumbs waiting for meal service. Not impressed

After a late night of grinding work. I needed some estimates. I called ahead and found out that the Branding Iron Cafe is now 24 hours again. I'm looking online I thought I have a $9.95 steak and egg breakfast for midnight to 5 AM. I came in about 2:30 AM and ordered my usual Cadillac margarita and then steak medium rare, country potatoes scrambled eggs and toast. The cook actually did a pretty decent job on getting the steak to me me and rare even though it was pretty thin. Had a good smoky flavor. The eggs were cooked perfectly. However the potatoes I had no caramelization as you can see in the picture. They were basically boiled in oil. I've had potatoes here for years and never actually had oil boil potatoes lol. It was too late at night for me to try to send them back so I decided to take them home and just browned them up the next day for my wife. The waitress was good, alcohol was good. Our food was so delicious, and the customer service was amazing. For a casino that allows smoking, you don't smell it in the restaurant. I ordered the Southwest salad. It was amazingly delicious. Place was packed for the car show, waited an hour to be seated and then about 30 mins before a server came over. Brandy came over to help since our server never showed. Brandy was great and very helpful. While we waited the 30 mins for Brandy, the bus boy Kae made sure to get us drinks and check on us regularly. He was also great. read more

Was looking for a place to eat dinner and Dad asked how we felt about Meatloaf. Branding Iron Cafe at the Bonanza Casino has a deal for Mondays and it was the Meatloaf Special. 3 of us got the Special and boyfriend got the "Signature Burger" Meatloaf Special: Meatloaf with sauce and mushrooms on top, comes with veggies, mashed potatos with gravy and dinner roll on the side. (All 3 of us were content and surprised it was better than expected) Signature Burger: 1/3lb burger topped with American & Swiss Cheese, Chef made Chipotle sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle chips and a crispy onion ring. (Boyfriend enjoyed it! I was watching him eat it, the burger looked juicy, I was envious) The place is pretty big, plenty of seating. TV's all around playing the sports games, and a whole bunch of memorabilia of car shows, posters, displays of scholarships they've given. FUN FACT: Bonanza was a filming location for the muppets? We lived here for a few years now and this was our first time trying this place. Branding Iron Cafe is a hidden gem. *Note: This cafe is towards the back of the Casino. So you'll have to make your way through the Casino that is heavily smelled of smoke and cigarettes. There is a walk way around the outside of the casino and you may use that if the smoke is too much for you. read more

3.5 We've been here a handful of times as it's nearish to home, the place is usually clean and we don't have to wait for seats or service. The staff is pleasant w/out being pushy or obnoxious, on occasion a little slow but never forgetful or making us wait ridiculously long for refills, check, etc. I don't know anyone who doesn't love the breaded fries, always served hot and they aren't greedy about offering some ranch for dipping. The steak sandwich was better as a steak on it's own, but as it was, good. The nachos tonite at the table beside us looked delicious, piled high with pintos, chicken, cheese, pico, guacamole, jalapeno, chips reportedly made fresh in house, sounded cruchy as heck even after smothering and baking. BLAT on sourdough is satisfying, light, fresh, the avocado worth the uncharge (they don't skimp), never disappoints. Salmon w/mango salsa was surprising good, the plate was scraped clean. They have seasonal specials as well as a daily/weekly special rotation (eg: Thursday is fried chicken). Our only complaint is the bs political nonsense they insist on broadcasting on the biggest screen in the place. Many tvs feature live game feeds but a few are tuned exclusively to political screamers and it detracts from the experience a bit. read more

Standard comfort food fare in a pleasant casino, old west environment. I visit Reno every year and always stop here at least once per trip. Sometimes more. Service has always been excellent for me. Smaller casino is probably more geared to locals, which I like. North of town about 1.5 miles on "The Old 395". Avoids the downtown hustle and bustle for a slightly less chaotic experience. I am all about diners/cafes. They typically offer a wide variety of food from breakfast to dinner and everything in between, Branding Iron is no different! The restaurant itself is comfortable and standard for a diner which I love. Easy to relax and watch whatever is on their many TVs. This time around I went with the French dip and without disappointment that is exactly what I got! A beautifully buttered roll with shaved roast beef and a cup of salty au jus for dipping! Our only time there. Pretty sure we won't be going back. The main reasons as follows: The buffet is too expensive for the amount of food selections compared to all the other places in Reno that have MUCH larger selections and better food quality. For $45 buffet that we paid, it was skimpy. Also, the quality was not there. Example, the crab was very slim legs with little crab meat inside. It is the lowest price and quality that can be bought. Our main concern was the extremely smoky environment. Since it is a really old building and seems to not have a separate ventilation system for the restaurant area, cigarette smoke from the Casino circulates in there. It was really annoying. Wife had a headache as we left. And lastly, I guess it is not that important, yet service was nonexistent even though the place was only half full, and not that busy. Twice I asked for a refill of tea and she forgot both time. She never came by to see if we needed anything. Bottom line is that this place needs to be completely remodeled after decades of wear and tear. read more

My waitress Nicole is not only attentive, knowledgeable and friendly but also hardworking. She ensures that my order is to my liking each time. My only recommendations would be that the menu needs more options for vegans, vegetarians, and pescatarians. I have been frequenting your establishment since 2003. Always paid for my meals and tipped even when service was lacking. I've never dined and dashed, even in my teen years. I actually have picked up my friends sortt comings on their tab. So glad your security brought down a picture of he female in question. Different facial features and even tattoos. You have lost my business and that of friends and colleagues. Glad I lnow many people in the marketing business that will retell my recent experience. FINALLY! A casino dine in spot that doesn't cheapen out & produces a fairly decent plate. We stayed overnight in the parking lot with our RV at the casino, so we decided to give their restaurant some patronage, because there's not a whole lot of options within walking distance. I was not disappointed. The a place was clean, spacious, quiet & calming, but the best part was the food. For lunch I had the chicken quesadilla & while it was a different variation than used to, it tasted like comfort food with each bite... the chicken tasted like roasted chicken, tender & flavorful (although the juices made the tortilla slight soggy). I also ordered a side of garlic fries, which were also a winner. We actually came back for dinner where I had the soup & salad. The salad was a basic spring mix salad A-OK & the soup (Chicken tortilla) was tasty! Full of flavor, but not cheap or sloppy. The price tag is average US dining prices for a sit down restaurant, but the food was a hair above average, which allows me to give this a 5 star. read more

2 stars because service was good. The food? Used to be great! Some of the best fajitas I've had in town. Now a few years later it is just a ghost of what it used to be. Zero seasoning or flavor, it's like the chef just cut up the meat and threw it on the grill and cooked it. No seasoning. No flavor. Also tried the grande burrito. Grande? I think not. Whoever made it doesn't even know how to wrap a burrito. Was a complete mess. Less than a Taco Bell burrito. Very disappointing. Cold beans. Cold rice. Yes I know the place wasn't busy at all on a Friday night, but that's no excuse for cold, flavorless food. You can blame pricing on supply chain issues, but quality of food you cannot. Used to be one of my favorite places to dine because the food was great. Now we only go if we get a gift card in hopes things have turned around since covid.
