My sister ordered sake She gave it like five out of 10 overall.
    Arturo M.

Two stars. And that is me being generous in full West Hollywood glam. I used to come here about two or three years ago and it was that girl. Packed, loud, sparkler candles flying across the room, everyone dressed like they were either celebrating a birthday or soft launching a sugar daddy. The vibe was electric. This time? It felt like I walked into a chic boutique hotel lobby where everyone already owns property in Palm Springs and drinks sparkling water with dinner. It was definitely nicer and more polished, but the chaotic birthday magic I remembered just was not there. I come here for celebrations. I want noise. I want energy. I want drama. Instead it felt... mature. And not in the fun way. Now let's talk about the food because I truly set myself up. I brought my sister here for her birthday and I was hyping this place like I was getting commission. I ordered the truffle spaghetti, my sister got a roll, my friend ordered another pasta, and within minutes we were all silently wondering if we made a mistake. Either we ordered completely wrong or something changed, because for those prices I was expecting gourmet, high end, transcendent flavors. What we got was painfully underwhelming. I was actually embarrassed because I had raved about it so hard. I kept thinking, is this supposed to be elevated and I just don't get it? Because for the cost, it absolutely did not deliver. My drink was at least seventy five percent ice. I am not exaggerating. I felt like I paid premium pricing for a chilled water experience with a suggestion of alcohol. Our waiter was very happy, very enthusiastic, very committed to the full production. He pushed appetizers, mains, desserts, the whole journey. I respect the hustle, truly. But when the table energy is confusion and disappointment, it is hard to be convinced into a three course commitment. Now the saving grace. The birthday cake. The complimentary cake for my sister was phenomenal. Truly phenomenal. That cake is the reason this review has two stars instead of one. It was rich, delicious, and honestly the highlight of the night. If they let me walk in, order just that cake, and leave, I might consider returning. Although even that cake was twenty six dollars, which somehow still felt like the best value of the evening. Would I come back for the food? No. Would I come back if the old birthday chaos vibe magically returned? Maybe. Do I recommend it if you want to feel fabulous while quietly questioning the bill? Possibly. But for a place that charges like it is serving culinary art, I needed a lot more than ice and disappointment.

Valentines Night Dinner- Set Menu It was alright. I was expecting the setting & service to be a bit more upscale. The food was mediocre, & considering the balentine's menu is supposed to be their top dishes.. that's not good. The chairs are extremely uncomfortable as well. Had fun tho! Dressed Kumamoto Oyster 0/10- tasted so fishy & bad. They put caviar on it but that can't save the taste Catch Salmon Roll 8/10- pretty good, smoked salmon. kinda has a slimy taste Popcorn shrimp 9/10 - pretty good! coated in a Tasty Tangy sauce N.Y Strip Steak 5/10- comes pre-cut to share, doused in a Peppercorn Gravy sauce that I did not like AT ALL so I didn't really eat any Miso Sea Bass 10/10!!- Sooooo good I absolutely loved this dish Spinach Artichoke Salad- 100/10- SOOO GOOOOD i already miss it. Strong truffle & mushroom taste Waygu Beef Carpaccio 7/10- tastes like salami. very small. Mashed Potatoes 8/10- creamy with truffle & chives

I have dined at Catch LA on multiple occasions. I first came here during a birthday trip to LA. It had been on my list for a while due to the popularity on social media. I ended up enjoying not only the lively brunch atmosphere but also the food. I absolutely love the sushi and fries here. I've only been here for brunch but would like to visit for dinner the next time I'm in LA. The servers have always been attentive enough to meet our needs. The atmosphere is relaxed and I've never been made to feel rushed while dining here. Catch is a great dining option in West Hollywood.

Honestly not sure what the hype is about. I drove an hour and a half from Orange County specifically for their octopus. That was the whole reason I made a birthday reservation here. We get there and within minutes the waiter casually tells us they took it off the menu a long time ago. When I asked why their online menu still shows it, he just said "oops, I'll let the manager know." The manager never came. No apology, nothing. That alone told me everything about how they operate. If there's an issue at the table, especially at a restaurant at this price point, the manager should be coming over themselves. Not "I'll pass it along." And on top of everything, it was my birthday. The waiter knew that. Not once did he offer a complimentary dessert, acknowledge it, nothing. Food was okay but nothing that justifies the drive or the reputation this place has built for itself. The service was just bad, plain and simple. I won't be returning.

    The boat
    Kate F.

We came with a group of 9 and got a couple of the boats plus some edamame and shishito peppers . I think the boat is overpriced and you would be better off doing one of the preset menus. We ordered the surf and turf roll since we were still hungry and I loved that one but it does have a strong truffle sauce. The rooftop is really cutely decorated so I did love the ambience

My other half brought me here for my birthday. The restaurant is located in West Hollywood. Street parking was fairly easy. I'm a fan of rooftops restaurants, i wouldn't necessarily consider this a rooftop, it's on the second floor but nonetheless the view is beautiful. The restaurant was made for influencers and to take beautiful pictures for social media. Same with the food. The presentation is beautiful. I personally am Japanese and prefer not to pay extraordinary prices for Americanized sushi but I admit it was tasty. 5 piece roll can cost $30 which I didn't feel was worth it. But I'll admit everything tasted good. The service was attentive and good. We sat outside and the view was nice. The general alliance of the restaurant was extremely beautiful. I can imagine a company holiday party or a special event would be impressive if hosted here. I'm not sure if I'd go back, plenty of other places I'd prefer at this price point.

GET THE TRUFFLE SASHIMI!!! The best thing by far we also tried the catch roll and hellfire both good! The donuts were good but too expensive for what they are def could skip. The lycheetini was my fav drink would order again! pornstar martini was a little too sweet but very strong so bang for your buck! the service was very nice and fast, did have to wait a bit even with a reservation but there is a little bar area to kill time :)

Catch LA completely exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere is very relaxed, mindful, and demure -- exactly the kind of vibe you want for a calm evening out in Los Angeles. Just a heads-up, they're closed during the day on weekdays, but the evening ambience makes it absolutely worth the visit. It was peaceful, beautifully lit, and had such a soothing energy. Our server, McNeill, was incredibly kind, informative, and genuinely helpful. He walked us through the menu and gave thoughtful recommendations that ended up being some of our favorite dishes of the night. You can tell he really cares about the guest experience. And the food? Phenomenal. Everything we ordered was flavorful, fresh, and plated beautifully. I would come here a million times over -- no exaggeration. Catch LA has officially become one of my favorite spots in the city. Highly recommend!

To be honest I had avoided Catch for years because of the influencer craze. But when a friend suggested we go recently, I took him up on it -- and wow, was I actually impressed! The standout for me was the Wagyu trio, which is cooked tableside and is INCREDIBLE. It's pricey at $85 a person but we both loved all three cuts -- they were so tender and flavorful, one better than the next! The restaurant is gorgeous, service was pretty good although our waiter disappeared for a bit by the end and had to be flagged down. Overall I really enjoyed myself here and would definitely go back.

Simple Mashed Potato I asked for a side of truffle
    Rachelle D.

I love this place. Last visited to continue celebrating my birthday. Staff was attentive and friendly. The table and chair I sat in was very small. If you can, try calling ahead and seeing if you can be seating within one of the garden tables. Drinks were amazing and low lighting was stunning. I ordered the Miso Glazed Seabass which was a 10/10! The Branzino was also really good 8/10. Mashed potatoes were as described SIMPLE! I did ask for steak toppers for the mash, and it came out great! Enjoy!

    Spicy Gigli Pasta
    Lux P.

I had really high expectations coming to Catch LA but I honestly was kind of disappointed. This place comes up as one of the top restaurants in the city, but in my opinion theres way better options out there. I found the servers to be quite dismissive to our group, and just did not really care to interact with any of us. Now the food, be prepared to be paying outrageous prices for the smallest portions of food. I understand this is a fine dining establishment but the least you could do is serve bigger portions of the main dishes rather than the same portion size has a side dish. I tried the Spicy Gigli Pasta with a side of Parmesan Truffle Fried and really nothing special about either. 4/10 recommend!

    Angry lobster pasta

I was really excited to try Catch in the West Hollywood area, as a friend had strongly recommended it, saying it was fantastic years ago. When we arrived, we had to take an elevator up. there's a doorman/ security by the entrance who guides you the way and just a heads-up, there's no dedicated parking, so you'll need to park on the street and just be sure to read the signs because they'll ticket you in a flash if you miss the meter or tow your car. Once inside, the décor was nice, rooftop vibes, and I was ready for a great night. Unfortunately, the food was a huge disappointment. Despite the nice ambiance, the meal just didn't deliver. I had the Angry Lobster Pasta, and it was honestly a letdown. the pasta was bland, and the lobster didn't even taste fresh. The portion was small, and for the price, it just didn't match expectations. Our server, Michael, was really friendly and professional, but that couldn't save the meal. Sadly, I won't be going back despite the beautiful setting and kind staff, the food just didn't cut it.

    Micaela M.

Catch was on my mind for a while and I'm glad I had the chance to cross it off my list. I found the view and the ambiance of the restaurant to be very lovely and I was excited to try the food. The selections we had were pretty solid, the shrimp was probably the best but it's most likely a one-and-done place for us!

He was informative about our selections giving honest feedback and attentive to the needs of our group. I will say the food not inexpensive but what food really is these days. We ordered a plethora of dishes. Starting with the tuna neck tin. While I'm new to the tin game, I couldn't imagine what a $90 tin tasted like, now I know and I'm not sure I can eat anything less. Appetizers we started with the baked scallop special with chorizo, the caviar fries and the caviar dip. The baked scallop was delicious and the cause dip with the salt vinegar chips was fantastic. I could still dip more chips in that dish. I chose between the mussels and the fried fish sandwich. Alex recommended the fish not because it was better than the mussels. But because you just can't get a fried fish sandwich like theirs. I agree. The fry breading they have is top notch and the size of the sandwich literally has me full still 7 hours later. I substituted the fries for a lightly dressed side salad and loved it all. Besides, other folks had chips and fries to share. Other dishes were the fried and cold lobster rolls. The bagel breakfast plate and fish and chips. We even got dessert which was the pistachios tiramisu and the strawberry cake. Both good but the tiramisu was next level. All washed down with a winter sangria Maybe that's why I am still full. See you again, saltie girl.

The first bite gives you that textbook contrast chefs chase: a thin, savory Maillard snap, then cool, silky flesh that still tastes of the sea rather than smoke, which tells me it was hit hard over heat to render the skin and pulled off at the precise moment before the proteins tightened. Grilled lemon halves, their edges caramelized, are doing real work here--squeezes of that charred citrus cut through the fish's natural oiliness--while the thin ribbons of pickled red onion and peppery microgreens supply the bright, acidic punctuation that keeps the palate moving. Slices of avocado act as a soft, creamy foil, lengthening the finish without smothering the fish, and the halved cherry‑tomato salad looks lightly dressed so you get clean sweetness and a crisp counterpoint rather than a soggy, overdressed side. From a technical standpoint I appreciate the fundamentals: even scoring or oiling of the skin to prevent sticking, careful timing so the flakes separate cleanly, and a sparing hand with seasoning so the brine of the fish isn't lost under salt or heavy sauces. Many places feel compelled to gild seafood with every trendy condiment; here, the restraint is refreshing and, frankly, rarer than it should be. Service matched the cooking: friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to steer us through the menu with solid recommendations, which matters when a kitchen is doing delicious things well. The restaurant itself is calm and clean, a peaceful setting with a bar that lets the food speak, and last time I was there they were in the process of securing a beer and wine license--good news, because this kind of balanced, grill‑forward cooking benefits from a thoughtful pour. In short, this meal stands out because it trusts the ingredient: confident grilling, smart acid, and honest accompaniments that clarify rather than compete, leaving you satisfied and already thinking about the next visit. As for the house-made salsa: stainless ramekins on a white plate, each with its own tiny spoon - bright yellow emulsion, lacquered dark reduction, smoky-red chile purée, and a chunky herb relish. The emulsion is silky and tangy, perfect for cutting fat; the dark sauce is sticky, umami-forward and built to cling; the red one carries smoke on oil and is medium-hot; the relish snaps with fresh acid and crunch. Important heads-up: one of these is a ghost-pepper style salsa - extremely spicy, slow-building and long-lingering, so use it as a finish, not a dunk. Execution is tidy: no broken emulsion, measured viscosities, portioned so flavors don't bleed - practical, disciplined work. In an era of one-trick "house sauce" laziness, this quartet gives you tools, not excuses, and it elevates whatever's on the grill without stealing the show. I'll definitely be back here!

This was also my first time trying Rhode Island clear chowder. Served piping hot, the broth hid beneath a glossy layer of oil from the salt pork. It tasted surprisingly similar to the New England version, just without the cream. Of the three, the New England remained my favourite simply because it felt the most familiar, though sampling all of them side by side was worthwhile. They're served with oyster crackers that resemble crunchy croutons, sturdy enough to hold up against the soup. Seafood dominates the menu, and I especially appreciated the selection of six wild fish of the day. We took the opportunity to try the vermillion rockfish ($39) since it was local to California, a flaky white fish with a light texture somewhat reminiscent of tilapia. Each fish can be prepared simply, with herb oil, or with an herb crust. Following our server's recommendation, we chose the herb oil and weren't disappointed. The fish had a lovely sear and fresh, clean flavours that let the seafood shine. The entrée comes with a side, and we paired it with asparagus topped with almonds and an edamame relish. Lightly grilled and fresh tasting, it complemented the fish beautifully. If you're after something satisfying without feeling heavy, the grilled fish is an excellent choice. Even though the pistachio mascarpone cake ($14) is made with gluten-free almond flour, it remains impressively fluffy. Hints of lemon and olive oil give the cake richness and moisture, while the lightly sweetened mascarpone cream keeps everything balanced. Connie and Ted's also offers a strong cocktail list. The Niña, the Piña, the Santa Monica ($20) was deceptively strong, finishing with a smoky depth that would pair especially well with richer dishes. For seafood traditionalists, there's also a solid wine and craft beer selection. Reservations are definitely recommended. Despite the restaurant's large size, it was packed during our visit. Thankfully, getting a table here is far easier than at Providence, and booking a few days ahead should usually do the trick.

While our waiter was a joy, the food was mediocre and the host and hostess were rude and playing favorites (or being racist? - white people waiting less time than we had been got the main room and we got the back of the bus). Hadn't been treated so poorly (no greeting or welcome whatsoever; waited 25 minutes after our reservation time) or obviously slighted re: seating to date. FAIL
