After having lunch at a nearby restaurants, a couple friends and I stopped by here for their drinks and desserts since we saw this place on IG. My friends and I each ordered a different type of chai, along with the kulfi tres leches cake and the rose cake with saffron. My favorite chai was the kadak since it had the perfect combination of creaminess and spice. I also really loved the kulfi tres leches cake since it was very moist and delicious. It's a bit pricey at about $7 per slice but you can definitely split it or save it for later. I would definitely come back to get the tres leches cake again and to try their drinks hot. read more

This place is located at the end of the circle across the street from the filling station. We were in the area and stopped by. My husband saw it on social media and said he wanted to check it out since ppl were hyping it up. It's a cute little shop with seating inside and outside. Not made for big parties but the decor was simple in colors. The staff was ok. Not as friendly because they didn't seem to want to engage or smile at you. They just wanted to take your order and answered questions if you had any. They only seem to engage if you engage first. Other than that, it's minimal. Drinks: I wanted an iced chai so asked for a recommendation. The worker told me the saffron chai was really good so I tried that. It was ok. Not anything that wow'd me but decent and flavor was subtle. My husband got the pistachio iced latte with almond milk. He said it was ok too. I tried some and it had a bit of a nutty flavor to it but it was very mild. Food: We got the Butter Chicken Burrito. When it first came out, it looked amazing and we were excited to try it. In the end, after taking a bite into it, it was interesting to say the least and didn't have much of the flavorful buttery spice to it that I'm used to. The burrito didn't have much of the sauce spread out in it. It does come with a white sauce on the side. Not sure what type of sauce it was but it did help add some flavor to it when you dipped the burrito into it. For me, after a few bites, it felt like more rice towards the end and less sauce. The sauce was more towards the middle. I like a lot of sauce in my butter chicken so I guess this isn't for me. It was also piping hot after they heated it up in their oven. It felt more premade and not as fresh to me. I personally didn't like it as much. My husband thought it was decent and ate majority of it. 7/10 for me and we normally love butter chicken. Dessert: We got a pistachio cheesecake. It was decent and rich. Not as sweet. It's definitely not something that will have me wanting more. I was a bit disappointed in the flavor. 6/10 for me. We had a great chai experience here on a Saturday afternoon. We had a large group of 8 and were able to find an accommodating table. The decor is really cute with tea kettles hanging from the ceilings and a beautiful mural painting on the wall. They had the most hilarious T-shirt! Love this addition to the circle, as a great place to grab a cup of chai or dessert. They also make whole pie/cakes for purchase when you order in advance. I've enjoyed bringing my family here, and it's kid friendly as well as aesthetically pleasing! One thing I would love to see is you could combine some of the menu items you already offer to create a desi version of an "afternoon tea" spread -- for example a cutlet or samosa, small bite size slices of cake, Indian style tea sandwiches + masala chai. It's a cute cafe with nice decor and Bollywood music. I went on a Sunday afternoon so the service was quick. I only tired the drinks and desserts. I had the rose matcha which was decent. It had more of a rose flavor than matcha. I also had the kulfi tres leches which was delicious. I'd never been to a legit chai place so I didn't know what to expect, but I got the iced cardamom chai and it was great, it was not sweet at all and I like my drinks sweet so I just asked for some agave added and it was delicious. Second of all the ambience and the decoration inside the café is beautiful and very tea inspired. And that is what I like to see. I had a large pot of the masala chai and a slice of rose cake. Not a great place if you're planning to get a to-go order, maybe the sit down experience is different? I waited in the cashier line and they told me it was reservations only and I told them I was trying to just place an order to-go. I ended up ordering 3 pastries & a chai and did not receive the chai. The staff was pretty rude, I ended up waiting in line again to re-order the chai. (I came in at 11:42AM and finally got my order at 12:21 which seemed pretty long for a cafe with the pastries all set out) I ordered: - Masala chai iced with almond milk, it was so watered down and had a strong bitter aftertaste. I left the drink in the fridge for 20 minute and the liquids split, there was about 80% water and the remaining concentration at the bottom. - Scone: This was so dry, it also tasted like it was made of tap water? - Earl grey tea pie: Due to the long wait the pastries didn't keep well and the cream flattened. If you're ordering to go, I would recommend to not get the pies. - Mango lassi cheese cake: This is probably one of my favorite items, it's very sweet though so I'd recommend pairing it with something less sweet The place is overall pretty cute though, it would be nice to do a sit down but make sure you have a reservation in advance. read more

As an Indian, I appreciate my chai. So, when I heard about this chai house, I had to check it out. FYI: Chaiwale means tea seller, or tea vendor. The store is on the corner and has large windows that let you chill and watch the hubbub outside as you drink tea. The store is Punjabi and the vibe is definitely Punjabi. They have the latest Punjabi artists like Diljit and AP Dhillon playing semi-softly in the background. They have a very comfortable and eclectic seating around the dinning room. The service is great. You order up front and then you find a seat. The server will bring you your order. Please remember to tip. The staff is very helpful and will explain things as much as you need. You can get your tea or coffee (they have a lot of options) bit iced and hot. I don't indulge in the tea-blasphemy of having iced chai. So, I got my masala chai hot. The quantity is very large. So get a small. In fact, even if they reduced the chai quantity by half for a small, it would still be worth the money. The tea is very authentic; spot on to how it tastes in India. And they give you a few complimentary Parle-G biscuits on the side! The samosas are large and to die for. They are hot and crispy and taste like the mother land. Had to make a stop in my old stomping grounds while I was in the area to check out this new chai spot. So refreshing to finally have a REAL chai (or cha) spot in the heart of Orange. The customer service was great, I decided to go with their most popular drink the classic Karak chai as is, it was the perfect amount of flavor and sweetness. You can also substitute for non-dairy milk as well. Also had to get their butter paneer burrito. I love fusion dishes & the butter paneer burrito with raita sauce on the side hit the spot & is so easy to eat. Their menu also offers coffee & non-coffee drinks. It's a great cafe to work from or catch-up with friends, they play chill Bollywood music in the background. This place gives me nostalgia from when I would do work from chai cafes in London. Kulfi tres leches 4.25/5. Looks great but could be a bit more moist. Good amount of sweetness. Came back second time.. got rose pistachio cake and dubai chocolate knafeh little donut. I found my forever study spot and favorite chai cafe all in one. The ambiance in here is spectacular. It's a very relaxed study space that puts you in the mindset to grind your schoolwork out. The staff was very kind. I asked for recommendations and they did a really great job asking me my preferences and pointing me out to an amazing recommendation (the saffron chai). The saffron chai is spectacular. I chose to get mine less sweet, which in my opinion was perfect. It had the perfect earthy, saffron flavor. It did not taste processed or syrup-y. I wanted to tell all the southern California people about this super cute Bollywood Afternoon tea offered at Chaiwale and Co. in Olde Town Orange. The only thing I would change is how they explained the pricing because it's a little bit confusing. You buy 2 tickets off of Eventbrite, but you don't pay the whole amount and you have to pay the rest of the amount once you get there. Overall, it comes out to about $35 a person and it's more than worth it for the volume and quality of what you get. So as far as the tea, it's every Sunday and there are two different times. I think you can go 12 to 2 or 3 to 5. The store is super cute as you can see with tea kettles hanging from the ceiling and cute, modern seating with some Indian touches. I wish it was a little bit more Indian but that's just my personal preference. While you are there, you will be listening to old school Bollywood music. So the first thing you get a choice with is the tea itself. They just give you a sample of their regular tea for me not spicy/fragrant compared to the tea that I used to from India. But I realize that a multitude of palates have to be satisfied. Next, you can choose between that tea, cardamom tea, and then the last type of tea whose name I don't remember, but it's a stronger and spicier version of the first one. That's the one that my friend and I elected to have and neither of us were disappointed. Then they bring out the tray of cookies and cakes, which is very filling. I didn't eat most of it, but I did eat the chocolate chip cookies sprinkled with pistachio and the Parle G biscuits, which is an OG Indian treat to have with chai. On the very top of the tea tray they have two delicious samosas with tamarind chutney-- one for each person. In addition to all of that, they have a choice of a burrito and a dessert. For burrito, you can get butter chicken, tandoori chicken (which I got and was ,) regular paneer, or saag (spinach) paneer. For the dessert, you can have gulab jamun cheesecake, mango lassi cheesecake, almond tres leches cake, or kulfi tres leches cake sprinkled with rose petals and pistachios (I brought half of the food back home for my roommate-- and she agreed with me that this was the most delicious cake that she has ever eaten in her life. I'm planning to get an entire one for my birthday.) Even dividing the food in half not eating most of the cookies and cakes (I just didn't have any room so I brought them to work,) it was extremely filling, I thought it was extremely filling and a wonderful value.
