First time diners at Chez Bacchus. They are farm to table, using local vendors. We made a reservation for the bar and pretty much had it to ourselves. They had a nice selection of alcohol and a small international wine list. We started with cocktails, the boyfriend with a Hendricks martini and me with a Cosmopolitan. We started with the bread basket which contains like 5 different flavored breads, very tasty. Then we both ordered the Spring salad which came with avocado, sorghum, and the most flavorful and juicy strawberries. I got mine with no avocado or sorghum, so they added more strawberries and it was the most beautiful salad I've ever seen. For my main I got the New York steak with potatoes and sweet spring peas with mint. I wasn't crazy about the mint but the peas were tender and fresh. The steak was prepared to a perfect medium rare. I ordered the whole roasted garlic bulb with the steak which added nice flavor. The boyfriend ordered the lamb and was very pleased. Parking is valet out front for $15. All in all a great experience and we'll be back.

This restaurant has been on my list for the longest time so I decided to make a reservation to celebrate my birthday during their afternoon tea! This was hands down the best tea time experience I have ever had. I had a large party of 12 guests and we all had the absolute best time! Everything from the service to the food was high quality and top notch. We had the honor of receiving our tea service by Melissa who was truly the most patient, kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating server. She walked us through all the tea options and helped us make our choices. Her amazing service honestly made the experience so much more enjoyable. Since it was my birthday I opted for the Queen's Tower which comes with the regular bacchus tower and soup plus two additional courses which includes caviar on soft scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on a sourdough Bellini; all paired with a glass of Veuve Clicquot. All of their pastries are made fresh in house and you can tell because it was so good. We also got their bacon and bread baskets for the table. The sourdough bread basket was the star of the show, it was fresh and perfectly served warm! The turmeric and charcoal sourdough was my favorite . I also received a complimentary tea to-go that I could enjoy at home! Needless to say I would highly recommend this restaurant and I plan to be back to try their dinner soon!

This review is for tea time! Had an absolute wonderful time. They were so sweet and even provided a birthday sash and a parting gift. The teas were so good as were the treats on the tower. We got the Bacchus tower. $19 up charge for a glass of prosecco was a little wild but all in all it was worth it. It's super cute and airy inside. Staff is really sweet. They also offer valet for $15. Otherwise, street parking available. I'd love to come back and try their regular menu.

This farm to table restaurant changes their menu with the seasons. The owner John makes you feel like you're family when you check in at the front and makes it a point to remember you. His staff is just the same way, always welcoming and like old friends meeting up for dinner. I've had their bread with the roasted garlic, the fried shrimp that is perfectly crunchy and tangy, their scallops and many other dishes. We got once every couple months and the menu changes but their are a couple items here or there that will occasionally stay but everything and anything you order is amazing and done with a personal touch that makes going here a different mouthwatering experience every time. Also, 1000% recommend the Afternoon Tea. Such a cool experience.

Our visits have been exceptional, from the moment you walk in you are treated with 5 star service, from staff greeting to drinks, and the quality of food. The restaurant itself makes you feel like you are in Napa or Santa Ynez Valley... It's just such a great ambiance, you have to experience for yourself. John's staff is amazing: from the young man brings around cucumber and various citrus slices to add to your water, or the many waiters that pass by the table checking in. The cocktails.... So good and so worthy of drinking :). John's amazing knowledge of wines is mind boggling. The menu changes with the seasons yet the quality & taste of the food does not!

First time here & we did their fall afternoon tea. I love how they incorporated the fall flavors into their food items. They have a great selection of loose leaf teas to choose from and they explain each tea in the box. Once you choose your tea they put it in a clear tea pot & you can watch it steep- there was one tea that changed colors. Everything is so beautiful inside, especially the china, & this is a fun idea for family, friend, or group meet ups. They rotate their menu with the seasons, can't wait to try a different one. I've been here several times since my first review. Chez Bacchus is always excellent. They now have a full bar and drinks are yummy. This review is for tea service which I love. Tea is brought to table and each blend explained which is a nice touch. The tea towers are full of yummy treats and are modified seasonally. In the fall, we had Pumpkin Scones, Apple Muffins, Special bread on Finger Sandwiches, Tiramisu....everything is super yummy! So much food, we always bring some home. Shout out to Staff! We made a comment that one in our party was hard of hearing and they changed placements to be sure she could hear. Love the tea decorations! Staff had masks and offered us our own to wear for Tea. Lovely place to go.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Fantastic afternoon high tea experience. A friend treated me to an afternoon tea here for my birthday and we had an amazing time. We've been to our share of fancy teas and this one's among the top. The interior was gorgeous, with great light from all their large windows. I felt relaxed the instant I walked in. The servers made us feel welcome right away and were fantastic throughout. You know you're in for great service when they switch out the default white napkin for a black one since you're wearing black. After looking at their two tea options, we both decided on the Bacchus Tower, as the upgrade to the Queen's Tower didn't seem necessary at the time. Our server brought out a tea box with the loose leaf teas to explain our options, and we were off to the races! They brought out a small salad to start, which was kind of different--most teas will just drop off your tiered tower of stuff and that'd be that. The summer salad with market peaches was delicious; I imagine this salad will change seasonally. Since one of the savory tier items was a chicken salad sandwich and I don't eat meat, they had no problem with me subbing it with a second quiche. All the various items were great, with some interesting choices, like the watermelon shooters, which were refreshing. We did end up spontaneously getting a bottle of sparkling wine, for which they brought out one of those tableside standing ice buckets, raising the fanciness level up another notch. They never made us feel hurried, and we lingered a good long while. We were both very impressed--I think we'll be back for another special occasion before too long!

Went here for a friend's birthday and the experience was superb! Negatives: -price, this place is a higher fair high class restaurant. This is to be expected, however the experience we got was definitely unforgettable. Positives: -service was amazing. From the servers to the owner, the care and attention to detail was outstanding. -food was great, we had table side bananas foster and very exquisite entrées. I had lamb neck, my wife had salmon, and the appetizer bread was great too. -ambiance was high class and everyone was very friendly. Overall 5/5

A fine dining dream! Staff made me feel very special- opening doors, tending to me and my dates needs, and being very knowledgeable about the dishes. This is absolutely a place to go to for special occasions or a romantic night out with the ambiance consisting of dim lights, classy modern interior. Even the water we were given included an optional citrus medley. The food is farm-to-table which meant everything was prepared freshly that day. Our dessert- monkey bread- was even prepared right before our eyes. I didn't expect to have entertainment while we ate, it was such a special experience! We came here for teatime, and the selection was incredible. All four of us chose different teas, and every single one was excellent. The appetizers and finger foods were spot-on -- and oh my gosh, the bacon was unforgettable. The sandwiches and the three-tier spread were all fantastic. I am an afternoon tea fanatic, so when some friends of mine heard about the tea service here, I knew I had to add it to my list to try. Unfortunately, the friends were already over it not because they did not offer GF and vegan options for those who needed it, but basically because they were provided with a response that you can't experience the real thing if you have those options and it won't be as good. I can say that is not the case, because we have gone to many afternoon teas that offer it and that I even enjoyed more as someone who orders the regular menu items. I decided to give this place a try anyway and the service was great when I made my reservation. The gentleman said they had the whole day open, but when I wanted 1:00 he really kept pushing for 12:30 for some reason. I caved, despite the fact that I was going to be lucky to be on time as I was volunteering right before on that day. I received my text later that evening to confirm my reservation at midnight. Huh?? So I had to call the next day and I was told that it defaults to AM and it was a miss. They were now assuming my reservation was noon and I had to say 12:30. When the day came, we arrived just on time and were lucky to find street parking which was not easy to do. I did not fee like paying $15 to valet my car. The man working the valet station was very kind and opened the door for us. We were seated promptly in a very sunny area. Melissa introduced herself to us and informed us that she would be our server. They asked if any of us had allergies. We informed her that Steven doesn't eat fish so they insisted on putting my shrimp salad crostini on the side and offered him an extra cucumber and cheese sandwich which was nice. We picked out our teas, I really liked that the servers go over each one and what is in them, and I really liked that they were loose leaf teas. I haven't had that happen at other businesses yet for high teas. She made them in front of us and we watched them brew, We also ordered bacon on the side so Steven would have more food. That was a thick, fatty, very rich piece of bacon. As our teas got low they were on top of filling it with more hot water. A gentleman brought our tea tower over and went over all of the options. We also had our cream and jams brought over. I really enjoyed the cranberry jam. I was not a fan of the scone as it seemed undercooked in the middle and had a weird aftertaste. Steven didn't mind it but commented that the cookie was stale. I didn't get to it as I got full before I finished the cookie and another dessert. I enjoyed the lemon poppy muffin and the chocolate covered strawberry very much. Everything else was okay, and the shrimp crostini had a fishy taste to it. What disappointed me though, was the fact that once there was a big party in the back, Melissa forgot about us. She never checked on us again and we saw her only tending to the big party in the back. Either she was moved there or just forgot about us because we were never offered more hot water or checked on again, Eventually the gentleman picked up our plates and another server brought me a to go box and brought the bill. Overall, I enjoyed the service and loved the loose leaf tea, but I have had better experiences and tastings so I probably won't be back unless another party wants to go, or maybe I'll come try some cocktails on their other days.

Saw the great reviews. Completely lived up to them. Very friendly and attentive service. Everyone we interacted with was warm and happy to talk shop about food, wine, etc. Bread: quite good. Octopus: phenomenal. Cooked perfectly. Shrimp (with bisque): very tasty. Would obviously prefer more than two shrimp but it was delicious. Wife loved the beef cheek pot pie- again, small, but surprisingly delicate and light for such a "heavy" hearty dish in name. Bananas foster made tableside like it ought to be, and was a great cap to the meal. We will definitely be back. Highly impressed. read more

My friends and I had the most perfect dinner ever last night at Chez Bacchus. Everything was absolutely delicious. Flavorful, decadent and fresh. We had a fantastic salad, assortment of breads with 18 year old balsamic vinegar and some olive oil. The rest of the dinner was fabulous and I just cannot wait to visit again. I made reservations for mid july brunch because I hear it's amazing. I look forward to being delighted yet again. read more

Was super excited to try this place as I heard good things about it. FYI they don't have liquor so their cocktails are made with soju and sake, but are still the price of a regular cocktail. The food was okay and nothing really stood out dish wise. Wasn't bad, but not something I would come back for. The only thing that I truly remembered from my dinner was the bread, which was pretty good. The staff is nice and had a great waitress Asia, but the food just fell flat on taste and if I'm going to pay this much for food, would expect a bit more on flavor, ingredients and presentation. read more

Great food and good service. There was no Valet service this particular day but the food made up for it. Servers were professional. Now I don't mind giving good tip for a place like this as opposed to other places where servers are under trained. Just kills the ambience. I suggest getting all the different appetizers. They are very uniques. If you look at the combination your brain tells you it may not work. But it does! That's the magic. read more

An escape set in the middle of mostly residential Long Beach. Food was absolutely delicious: highly recommend the octopus, the home made bread, and the pork belly. The server was knowledgeable and gave us her recommendations which we very much enjoyed! Would eat here again, though the prices are high because the food was that good. read more

Such a great place! We went for their afternoon tea and it was so lovely. The attention to detail was evident and the staff were so nice. The food was delicious! The tea was good. And because it was my birthday they sang to me (quietly so it wasn't embarrassing ) and gave me a candle! I love the atmosphere too. Think English pub meets cottage, which I loved. Incredible food! Ambience is classy but not pretentious at all. John and his staff have the experience and passion to give each guest VIP treatment. We have dined here twice now and we love it so much. For our most recent visit we enjoyed brunch on Saturday and my goodness what an impressive offering. I had the waffle croque madame which was immaculate. The kids had the French toast which is can only be described as AMAZING! House baked Brioche cut in thick generous slices and perfectly crusted with a cinnamon sugar to die for. The bacon deserves its own post and review. House cured and THICK sliced. All other bacons should take notice. Lol. I genuinely love this restaurant and encourage you to make reservations NOW! read more

Here is the deal with this place. Wifey and I are LB Locals and had our 23 year old daughter in town. Monday night around 8:00. THE GOOD Hands down the best service I have ever received at a restaurant. All the staff was top notch. Try not to read too many reviews before I go to a place, but I assume "service" Is mentioned often. Food quality is incredible. We had the heirloom tomato salad appetizer and the 4 croutons they gave were sooooo good. We also had the charred cabbage, pasta and pork chop. All really really good Atmosphere was great. Romantic setting, low lit, casual dress. Most there were couples and older folk. Not really a place for small children. THE BAD Cost. Average of $40 per entree. Appetizers $25. Portion size is not spectacular. The pasta dish was great but 4 ravioli pieces and a few mushroom slices. But, the quality was spectacular. Pork chop portion was more reasonable. As was the charred cabbage. SUMMARY Bill was $180 for the 3 entrees and 1 appetizer. More of a special occasion place for us. The service and food quality is what makes this place. We celebrated my wife's birthday at Chez Bacchus, and we had a wonderful, intimate dinner in the private dining room. John was a wonderful host throughout the evening, and words cannot describe the excellent and delicious dinner that Chef Danny prepared. We are still talking about Chef Danny's amazing dishes. The atmosphere and ambiance of Chez Bacchus added to the great evening, and the warm welcome Isaac, Wyatt, and Justin added really made the evening more special. read more

We had reservations for High Tea at noon on Saturday, but according to a new reservation system, we were not listed. Chaz Bacchus was able to seat and we had a nice tea. Finger sandwiches were nice, standout being the baby shrimp on crostini. Scone was a delicious flaky cranberry with clotted cream and cranberry jam and applesauce. I will say that the lemon poppyseed muffin was very dense. Dessert of tiny sugar cookie blueberry lemon bread and yogurt dip strawberry were not at all satisfying. The tea choices were very good and we were impressed with the "Royal Majesty black tea from Vancouver BC". Mimosas/champagne were not part of the tea, but they were available to order, as well as many other unique cocktail offerings. Prices were higher than quoted, service was very good, but the inconsistent quality and prices may make it difficult for a repeat visit. read more

I have gone to their high tea service twice. Simply amazing. Nice atmosphere-upscale but not stuffy. Service was spot On with dignity and class. Snacks was spectacular. I avoid scones and their scone was the best I have ever had. Puff melted in my mouth and the zest in the egg salad sandwich - perfect alternative. I would HIGHLY recommend the high tea!! read more

Had an amazing date night at Chez Bacchus exceptional service from Isaac and truly delicious food. The Wagyu beef cheek pot pie was to die for as an app - we should've gotten two lol I got the potato goat cheese agnolotti with truffle and the PB dark chocolate bar for dessert, and hubby got the CA white bass. Tried a nice Sancerre wine for the first time as well asvised by Isaac and it's my new fave. read more

This place did not disappoint. The food is exceptional and unmatched in the Long Beach dining realm. Service was also outstanding with the right amount of pauses before they check in with you. The place is beautifully decorated and has the ambiance you seek for a special dinner or just a Friday night out. Perhaps the nicest surprise is to find 700 wine bottles in their wine list with Sommelier to assist you with choices. Attached are the food photos and they speak volumes without exaggeration. FIRST CLASS!! From service to food. We tried the Duck Breast and Flat Iron Steak... o. la la.. c'est tre bon! The Chefs knew how to cook the food perfectly. Last night we had and incredible experience at this Long Beach gem. We hosted our wedding reception for ~30 close friends and family members and the Chez Bacchus team were so accommodating and truly outdid themselves. We let Chef Danny create the menu mentioning that a few family members were vegan. Well the menu was extraordinary and both the meat lovers and vegans were extremely happy! The pasta, even served from a chafing dish was a perfect al-dente. The filet mignon was tender and served at the perfect temperature. The roasted veggies were delicious, and everyone raved about those mashed potatoes, so creamy and rich. Adding to that, John paired the meal beautifully with his choice of lovely wines. Wyatt was the most accommodating bartender and our servers, especially Michael were impeccable. And I also must mention the lovely Reina who graciously gave us a wedding gift at the end of the evening. Today I received several thank you's from our guests for the "Michelin"quality meal. My mom and I had afternoon tea here and had such a great time. All the tea selections were loose leaf and served on beautiful antique china. The tower of savories and sweets was amazing and afterwards, I was so full. Everything tasted fresh. The service was friendly and attentive. They showcase local art on their walls and the dining room feels cozy but modern. I'd love to come back for dinner. The owners are sooooo welcoming and you can tell they've put their heart into this restaurant. The parking in the area is not so great though, so I hope that it doesn't drive business away. The food truly was outstanding, everything done to perfection! My favorite...hard to choose, but the Summer Melon Salad, just fabulous! I believe that Chez Bacchus is one of the best, if not the best restaurants in Long Beach. They have wonderful and reasonable wine selections, fantastic appetizers, and perfectly prepared entrees. Last night we had the cheese plate, baked bread, pork belly entree, shrimp pasta and basque cheesecake. All were really great. The space itself is elegant, clean and calming, and the service was expert and friendly. We were welcomed and felt as such during our entire meal. Chez Bacchus restaurant review Upon entering Chez Bacchus this past Friday (August 9, 2024), my wife and I received a cordial, warm welcome. We had high expectations going in and our expectations were truly exceeded. The staff, including manager/owner, delivered efficacious and unpretentious service. Chez Bacchus' dining room was well-appointed, comforting, spotless (including the restroom facilities) well-lighted, and unstuffy. Conversation shared with my wife was uninterrupted and the service was well-paced. My wife and I ordered a three-course prix fixe dinner, and I enjoyed an accompanying wine pairing. Anna's colorful summer melon, pineapple, and burrata salad was dressed with a piquant jalapeno/lemon infused cucumber water (spectacular) adorned with crispy wafer-thin pancetta slices. My opener was a perfectly velvety buttery scallop served with jasmine rice placed atop a beautifully textured shrimp bisque. A floral Albarino Pazo das Bruxas was paired with my opener. For her main course, Anna selected a transparentsea (four succulent caridean shrimp) alfredo pasta which was simply decadent. The pasta remained hot for the duration of the meal. I chose a hearty (medium rare to medium and not one bit gamey) double venison chop served alongside a rich peach compote and peach coulis. A lush Austin Hope 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon was poured prior to the arrival of my entree-an impeccable pairing with for the fork-tender venison. Anna selected a beignet dessert (golden and fluffy) that was delivered with a softened sweet cream cheese condiment and a pungent berry coulis for dipping. I enjoyed a smooth-as-silk corn infused creme brûlée. We did not opt for after dinner liqueurs and, instead, enjoyed French-pressed coffee. Our evening at Chez Bacchus was truly impressive, outstanding on every aspect. read more

Pancakes were also very delicious with good flavor and fluffy height. The pancakes had a brown butter topping that he really liked, didn't even need syrup. Sausages didn't seem homemade but were very tasty. I ordered the Eggs Noni, which is a version of Eggs Florentine, plus a side of bacon. The Eggs Noni came on two pretty hard small sourdough discs. I had difficulty cutting through the crust with a knife. There is a lot of cayenne in their hollandaise sauce, not my favorite version. The thick slice of tomato was the highlight. Side of bacon $6 for two measly pieces - overcooked and too crunchy. I could tell the bacon would have been good if it was more on the meaty/chewy side. This came with a potato pancake which was like mashed potatoes mixed with cheese and then fried. Service was okay, I think because it was pretty busy. They may need more staff to help the servers with drink refills and to check in more frequently. Lastly, our table was very wobbly and we had to fix it with sugar packets otherwise our drinks would have toppled.

The octopus was AMAZING - one of the best dishes I've had in years! - and the halibut and duck breast were absolutely astounding. Do not miss the peanut butter chocolate bar dessert! Went to Chez Bacchus with some friends for brunch, and I honestly don't get why it was so empty. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding.
